We had a company meeting with 15 people and this facility was absolutely perfect. The conference room was very clean and very user friendly to connect all of our technology to. There are many options for lunch right next door, so it is very conveniently located. We finished the day with 2 groups in 2 of the escape rooms. It was a perfect team building exercise and we all just had so much fun. Everyone was raving about how great of a meeting we had. The booking of the event was flawless, and Mary was so easy to work with. We will definitely consider having another meeting here in the future.
What wonderful escape room! We had ages 11-89 and we all had a great time. It was clean. and challenging with such high tech cute things it made it hard! We had clue helpers in another room that was watching and helping. The best one around! Mary the owner was wonderful to talk with on phone and answered all my questions. We had 19 people and we used two rooms! Highly recommend and support small business.
We did the Sins of Dr. Faustus as a team building event. This was my first time doing an escape room experience. I loved it! The puzzles were so detailed and interesting. The rooms and technology used were so impressive. We were able to meet the owners, including the person who designed the rooms, which made it even more interesting to hear about the design and ideas behind the rooms. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a something fun and unique to do. I actually purchased a gift card for a family member before I left because I knew it would be a perfect gift and they would love the experience! I cant wait to go back and try a different room!
Go, go, go! Right now! Found this place after a deep-dive research of the highest rated escape rooms in the Columbus area and this one by far won. Me and my family went and we all had A BLAST. Ive been to 2 escape rooms prior and this was the best yet! We are planning on going back before the winter is over to try out the other 2 rooms. The woman at the counter was SO sweet. Cant wait to go back!
Captivating worlds exceeded all expectations. The staff are welcoming and cordial. They explain the story lines and process thoroughly. The rooms are put together so well. The decor, detail, and props are mind blowing. You can tell David and Mary take pride in what they do and are phenomenal at it. This is not like your traditional escape room, where you feel like you blink and it’s over. This is truly and one of a kind experience. Don’t wait to check them out.
Im an escape room enthusiast with around 100 rooms played through out the US and a few other countries. The rooms at Captivating Worlds are easily in my top 5. They are challenging and require good time management and group communication but do not use obscure knowledge or cheap tricks. Everything you need to solve the puzzles are in the room. Attention to detail and situational awareness are paramount in completing the challenges. Perfect for date night or a group of team mates / friends. If you are new to escape rooms, I would bring a group of 4 to 6 people who work well together. Experienced players will be challenged with a group of 2 or 3. My wife and I beat all three rooms by ourselves, we never had more than a few minutes left on the clock. The special effects and use of technology is the best I have seen outside of the Hollywood production games like The Saw Experience & Escape Room. Tried out this place during a visit to the Columbus area and ended up reserving and doing all three of their current rooms! Without giving away too much, the experiences (And yes, they were experiences) of every room were each unique and left memories for both myself and the friend I had with me in the rooms. The production and quality of each room is leaps and bounds ahead of other escape rooms Ive done recently and the attention to detail alongside the structure of the rooms and puzzles just lead to a wonderful experience. Additionally, it was my Birthday when I went, and all I can say is that The Sins of Dr. Faustus was made all the more special by mere mention of the day.If you enjoy escape rooms that offer an immersive, story-driven experience while also managing to test your puzzle-solving skills, Captivating worlds will 100% scratch all of those itches.
I have lived in New Albany for 10 years and never knew a place like this existed nearby. The owners are wonderful and have put their heart and soul into their business. I love that each room has been created by the owner himself. His creativity is truly a gift. This this location came highly recommended to me from a good friend who runs an escape room company and has completed over 500 escape rooms. I look forward to returning for another room experience.
My partner and I have done 20 escape rooms and this one blew us away. Its a bit untraditional in comparison to normal escape rooms, but if youre up for something creative, challenging, and theatrical - this is a MUST! The owner (and game master) was working during our visit. Part of our experience was hearing about his creation of the rooms. The room itself was incredible - every detail intentional. The props, technology, and decor in this room was unlike any weve done before (and done well at that). The owner walked us through some of the themes and reasoning behind certain aspects that tied the story together which made it all the better for us personally. If you appreciate creativity, deep-thinking, and intellect, youll really enjoy this one.We highly recommend!
We drove 3 hours to visit on a Saturday and booked all 3 of their rooms that they currently have available. All 3 rooms challenged our team in different ways. The build of these rooms is amazing and the technology used in The Machine and Dr Faustus is astounding. Some of the best escape rooms weve visited and weve probably dont 100+. A lot of work has gone into these rooms and they will test your skill and patience; theyre arent a while lot of locks here. Highly recommended if youre up for a challenge! The staff were all very friendly, informative, and welcoming. They have lockable lockers for personal items and even separate ones with phone chargers in them so you can lock up your phones and charge them while you play.
This was such a great experience for me and my 10 yr old grandson. It was challenging for both of us. We worked together to complete the task of saving the animals in Barnyard Winds! Mark the founder was there to explain everything, and he was so helpful! He designed each of the experiences, and theres none like it anywhere else! Its definitely a step up from other escape rooms. Its very interactive with technology that makes the experience so much better! Loved it and my grandson cannot wait to go back!
Best escape room I have done out of 20 around Columbus. Easily worth any extra money. So much of the room felt alive and integrated into the game, and the story line has depth. Real puzzles that are entertaining and complex, not just standard locks and keys. We will be back for the rest of the rooms by the end of the year.
Family of 4 visited and did the barnyard adventure, which is one of three rooms currently open. Both kids had a blast, ages 9-13. It was our first experience at an escape room. It had a lot more atmosphere and technology than I expected based on what I had heard about other escape rooms. The game master kept things moving so we never ended up in an endless rut, and for the most part, we didn’t feel like we were spoonfed clues.Seems like it is a must-visit for enthusiasts. We are looking forward to visiting again in the future and trying a different room.It is in a clean and safe environment and I imagine it would meet or surpass any expectations you may have for an escape room.
Probably my favorite escape room yet. The owners were extremely nice. The room was challenging and very fun. It was someone in our parties birthday and they gave us a very nice touch. I would highly recommend the “welcome to the machine” escape room. Out of the six I have done this was by far my favorite, and it is a very local company.
My family and I love completed our 2nd Escape Room here and it was our favorite by far! We did the Barnyard Room-it was a bit intimidating at first to my step dad who has never completed an escape room but he quickly caught on and enjoyed the challenging puzzles. It was a great experience and staff was superb! I will make sure to tell my friends in the area, and look forward to returning to support this great family-owned business. A plus that they are from NJ just like my family :)
Amazing! I’d never done an escape room and was skeptical. The mood was set right from the moment our group of 10 entered through the doors. It was a blast, incredibly engaging, the cinematic and special effects were expertly made. True effort put in to all aspects. This isn’t your typical escape room, this place goes the extra mile. Gamemaster Sophie was the perfect guide through our experience. Thank you so much for hosting our work outing and providing a stellar experience! We hope to return soon!
Captivating Worlds is the real deal - so much better than the other escape room we had done. We did Dr. Faustus and the room and puzzle were amazing. When they say immersive they certainly mean it. The rooms make you feel like you are actually in the situation, and the technology is amazing. Highly recommend!!
My wife and I completed The Sins of Dr. Faustus room with a minute to spare. We had the owner, David, as Game Master and he was awesome. We were challenged the entire time and the effects put into the room are stellar. You could tell the immense passion behind both their work and storytelling that lifted the experience. We will definitely try other rooms at Captivating Worlds!
Had an amazing time! We had a group of 8, a lot of us experienced in escape rooms...and we had a blast. The room was super fun and challenging. The staff/owners were SO nice and really cared about our experience, they even added personal touches. Incredibly clean and safe.. We look forward to coming back again!
I have been to many escape rooms, but this one was by far one of my favorites! It was so creative and unique, all a testament to the attention to detail the owners had when designing the room. My bachelorette party went and had a great time! They even planted a special surprise in the room for me as the bride to be! 10 out of 10 would recommend!
One of the best rooms in Columbus! It’s locally owned by a husband and wife. We did the Sins of Dr Faustus. I loved so much about this room. From the technology to the immersive ambiance, it was an amazing time. I love the customized clues- you can definitely tell the game master was watching us the whole game, not just imputing unhelpful pre made clues. The tiered pricing to make sure the room is all yours is a wonderful touch and very fair. The story of the room is very unique and cool. Overall it’s definitely a place to checkout. I can’t wait to go back and checkout the other rooms!
This place was amazing. The owner was extremely detailed and informative on the entire operation (the originality, safety, and craftsmanship). The place is super clean and comfortable. The actual experience was the best escape room Ive been to so far, very high quality. Also, quite challenging but not overbearing. Hints can be given when asked for. You will definitely feel the immersion. I cant say enough good about this place!
Just happened upon this escape room while in town for a few days. It is by far the best one I’ve been to. All of the extra sounds/effects make it feel like you’re a part of the experience. My kids ranged from 10-16 and it was perfect for all of us. It was VERY clean as well. Great experience!
This was a spur of the moment decision after our original plans fell through. I think this ended up being more fun than our original plans. We had such a good time, and it was a great bonding experience for our family. Mary was extremely professional and friendly. The puzzles were super fun and well thought out. We loved the animatronics and immersive experience. This was our first escape room and now were excited to try more.
Captivating Worlds is absolutely the best of the best! David’s integration of technology, theatrics, and brain-stretching puzzles create an immersive experience like no other escape room/entertainment venue in central Ohio. The world we attempted today, Welcome to the Machine, was the perfect level of difficulty for our professional team and we can’t wait to try out the other worlds with our friends/families. The facility is top notch, parking is ample, and Mary & David made sure everyone in our party was prepared, felt comfortable and knew what to expect before starting our experience. We had a really great time and will definitely be back very soon! Thanks again!
This was my first foray into escape rooms and I must say that it vastly exceeded my expectations. Kudos to David and Mary for their imagination and for the technology they used to bring The Barnyard Winds scenario to life. This was an out of the park experience, both challenging and fun and revealing. Cant wait to try another room.
We had the BEST time at Captivating Worlds!! There were 6 of us and we were down to the wire and barely finished the last puzzle. It was so fun! We did the Dr. Faustus room, which was challenging and enjoyable. We highly recommend Captivating Worlds!!!
This was a great experience! Mary, our host, was very inviting and informative about the room and company. I enjoyed Barnyard Winds; it is a great game to establish teamwork and make good memories at the same time! I would love to come back and visit for another experience.
Fun independently owned escape rooms (you do not actually escape, but that style) with a lot of technology. The owners are super nice, the husband designs the room and the wife works on the bookings, wonderful people. We have done over 50 games by now and these ones were very enjoyable and difficult enough for us. The Barnyard had a cute theme and you really could enjoy the environment and animals :-). The Dr. Faustus one had a more spooky environment, still with unique elements but more difficult than the Barnyard. Welcome to the Machine was also fun, but I liked the other two games even better.
My sisters and friend went to Captivating worlds as part of my bachelorette weekend. Two of us had never done an escape room and the other two had done maybe one a long time ago.I, as the bride, got to pick the room, and went all in with the Sins of Dr Faustus. We LOVED it. The information at the beginning was so helpful regarding how to look for clues and indulge your curiosity. Everyone in the group of four was able to spend time with all the puzzles. It was immersive and interactive. Just creepy enough to keep you on your toes but not so much so that you needed to be scared of solving puzzles.There were clues and nudges available but not too much info was given so you had to work things out.I know that my family and I will definitely be back, I’m afraid that since this was my first escape room experience, all others might be lackluster in comparison. A huge shout out to the owners for their creativity and service.
My husband, kids and myself took on The Machine. This room was not only themed well but challenging. It was very different from other rooms we have done at other places and we for sure want to try the other rooms they offer. The design was authentic and exciting! Lights, sounds, games were all original. We highly suggest this for the avid escape room junky!!
Went with my family to experience The Sins of Dr Faustus today and it was an absolute blast, so much fun!!!! The nicest people too! Our high expectations were definitely exceeded and we can’t wait to go back to do the other adventures. Highly recommend :)
Very well done! I took my 15 year-old daughter and 9 of her friends to The Sins of Doctor Faustus experience. They had a great time working through multiple puzzles / challenges. I was very impressed with the experience - the variety of challenges, the level of detail, the level of challenge, the support from the game-master. Sins has a creepy story-line, and the experience evoked a few shrieks from the girls. I think they all had a very good time during their nearly 75-minute experience.
Awesome experience!!!! The Dr. Faustus experience was so awesome!!!! We have been to another escape room and it was nothing compared to this.You can tell they really care about the customer experience. If you want something immersive and theatrical then this is the space. Mary was super kind anda Great game master! Definitely check it out for either a date night or family fun night!!! 10 out of 10!
We did the Machine room! The owners are SO nice and the room was challenging yet fulfilling when we solved a puzzle. If you like puzzles and teamwork this is the place to go! We finished with one SECOND to spare but it was so exhilarating! We are already talking about planning the next one! Keep up the awesome work!
I am not going to lie, I was nervous by going into my first escape room. This one was made for me though. I was really worried that my smarts wouldnt cut the mustard, but I was pleasantly surprised. I was actually helpful and my group did escape with a captivating story. The staff was truly kind and I could not have had a better experience. If I can get down here again to do this, Ill do it gladly.
We played the machine and had a wonderful time.David and Mary were wonderful host that have put a lot of time and effort into their game and it shows in the details very innovative.I have played over 50 games and this is in the top 10.We will definitely be back to play their other games and they are definitely worth the stop when in Columbus, Ohio.
AWESOME! My son went to Captivating Worlds for a birthday party and he loved it. He said it was a lot of fun (and he doesnt get excited about much). The staff was wonderful, and very helpful for their age group. Cool place - thinking of bringing my staff here for a team building event.
We had a great time at Captivating Worlds! We did Dr. Faustus and it was wonderful. Had 10 people and we all stayed busy and were never crowded. Very high tech and the puzzles were cool. Will be going again.
We absolutely loved “Welcome to the Machine” and would definitely recommend Captivating Worlds. The design of the room was great, the puzzles were creative, and the theme was a lot of fun, although we were sweating bullets by the end, with about three minutes to spare to “save the world!’’ Our host, one of the owners, was great and explained everything thoroughly before the game. He also took time at the end to talk to us, to explain some of the game play in more detail and share observations about how our game went… you can tell it really is a labor of love, and it’s nice that this is a local company/small business. Loved how the technology was integrated and it really was an immersive experience. We were happy we got out alive, lol, but we were sad it was over! We had an amazing experience and we talked about it all the way home… Can’t wait to go back!!
Had a great time! My wife and I participated in the Barnyard Animals puzzle. We were able to complete the puzzle with just the two of us. But definitely not without the help of our great game master!
While you are literally escaping rooms here, its so much more than any other Escape Room Ive ever done. Mostly all mechanical puzzles with very few lock and key puzzles. Hands down recommended!!!
This place was really fun! The different puzzles, theme, effects, and the set up of the room was awesome! The owners are super friendly and really put a lot of work into this place! I am still blown away by the creativity of the challenges! Thanks! We will be back for sure!!
Our group had an amazing time at Captivating Worlds!We used their conference room all day for a team off-site. The room was spacious, clean, and stocked with water in the in-room mini fridge. Mary was responsive to all of our needs.After our working session, we did one of the escape room experiences. We completed the Welcome to the Machine room. It was challenging, fun, and a full hour of adrenaline rush! David is a mastermind game designer and game master.I promise you, this in unlike any other escape room experience, and I 100% recommend trying this experience with family, friends, or coworkers! I cant wait to try another one of the experiences!
Absolutely amazing! New puzzles I’ve never seen or thought about before! Not a single padlock in our room! The technology used to immerse you in the theme is unparalleled! HIGHLY recommend visiting Mary and David and letting them show you how escape rooms should be!!! You will not be disappointed!
This was our first time here. We did the Sins of Dr. Faustus room. We have been going to many escape rooms for a very long time and I can say without a doubt this was my all time favorite. The level of detail and the combination of design and technology with very challenging puzzles were top notch. This is not your regular lock and key room but is so much more immersive. I will definitely be back to play all the other rooms and appreciate so much what the owners are doing. I would highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone.
Long story short: come do a room here, this place is such a gem! Long story long: my partner and I came here earlier today and did The Sins of Dr. Faustus, just the two of us. Its a small place, but make no assumptions from that, its full of great experiences. Its extremely clean, high quality, and the two owners were so kind and thoughtful. From the room we did, we can tell that so much time and love has gone into this business. The room was well-paced, entertaining, just the right amount of challenging, and extremely immersive. The technology used was awesome. We have been to most escape-room-esque places around Columbus and this is truly a standout! My partner is a game designer and playtester, so these compliments dont come lightly. We seriously cant wait to go back and do the other rooms there. Check it out, itll be well worth your time!

We were able to play both of the current rooms at Captivating Worlds thanks to the kindness and generosity of the owners and their willingness to accommodate our schedule. The theming of the rooms is excellent and a lot of thought was put into the games. The Barnyard games is family friendly and Dr Faustus is just creepy enough to keep you on your toes. We had a great time and plan to return when their games open. For context - we’ve done about 70 rooms as a team of 2 and while these rooms were both challenging they were doable for two people. Definitely recommend checking them out!
Better than any other similar type experience. Their use of technology and variety of experiences in each room is impressive. You won’t regret booking any of the 3 rooms. Challenging but very fun!

This place was an absolute blast. Other escape rooms have always felt like a bunch of random, disjointed puzzles that required logic — but at Captivating Worlds, we had to figure out a story and solve a mystery. Top notch.
This was a lot of fun! We did the Time Machine and got the puzzle done right before the time hit 0! The game master was amazing and the owners were so nice! I would definitely come back!
I have played 60+ escape games at numerous establishments at this point so I have a large experience level to base my review on (imo). First impressions: the lobby and staff are friendly and professional, it has a very nice ascetic for casual or professional outings.They even offer a well appointed meeting room that you could have a board meeting in (professional, tasteful, clean). The game play is some of the more unique that I have ever experienced. The puzzles are unique, require teamwork, and are very interactive/reactive. The decor and theming place you INTO that world from the time you step in till the game ends. The storyline is actually part of the entire game. My experience here has set a new level of expectation for games. I had never experienced a theatrical style escape room (no actors) but OMG this is next level in game play and SO MUCH FUN. I highly recommend that you go check them out, you will be glad you did.

This is the best escape room I’ve ever been to! The staff is very friendly and the room has so many fun puzzles. The hints are perfect and never give too much away. You also instantly receive feedback for doing things right so you know you’re on the right track! I definitely recommend this place, and I hope to go back soon to compete the new upcoming escape rooms they’re building! It was such a unique and incredible experience so definitely book this place!
We had a great time at Captivating Worlds. The room themed Dr. Faustus was very neat. The technology that was incorporated made this stand out from any other escape room we had ever been in. Our game master was very kind, super thorough with her explanations, and very helpful throughout the game. My favorite escape room yet! My two friends and I did the sins of doctor Faustus, and you can tell how much work was put into it! The puzzles and everything were super engaging, and it was fun because there was an actual story behind it. I really recommend going here! My friends and I are planning on going back to enjoy the barnyard room as well (: also, the owner and the other person working were very friendly and you could tell how proud the owner is of this place (: 11/10 recommend!

BEST experience I’ve had at an escape room! I’ve done two other ones and was apprehensive to do another one. The customer service alone was amazing! The owners welcomed us and our game master was actually the created & builder of the rooms!! So personable and kind! We completed The Sins of Doctor Faustus and it was amazing!! The amount of interaction, the theatrics, the story line, how challenging and well built the puzzles were... even the room was built just beautifully. We cannot wait to come back and complete the other room and will DEFINITELY be back for the newest room they are currently building. It’s very rare to find a business that will go above and beyond that I feel Mary and David do on a daily basis. The escape room we did was challenging and a lot of fun. Took my wife and some friends of ours to do The Sins of Doctor Faustus and it was AMAZING! We had an awesome time, the rooms are incredibly well done with so much detail. The puzzles were challenging but not too complicated for this room. We will definitely be back for more.
If you are looking to do an escape room, DO NOT miss out on this one. You can tell the owners have a deep passion for their rooms, and their puzzles, world building, atmosphere, and designs are top of the line! Definitely a must do if you are looking for something to do in the Columbus area.

Best escape room venue in Columbus, hands-down!My little group has taken to doing escape rooms with a frenzy - we’ve done just about everything in Columbus. We’d done Captivating Worlds’ first two rooms back in the spring, and had been anxiously awaiting their third room (Welcome to The Machine). We finally got the opportunity to book this week, and it did not disappoint. From theming to creativity of puzzles to pacing and inclusion of tech, it was an amazing adventure. We’ve been spoiled with the good fortune of having the rooms’ creator as our game master on each visit, and his passion and diligence is evident. He also has a stellar instinct for when and how much to “nudge” a group when they get stuck. Even a brief chat with the owners makes it clear how much time, care, and love goes into the rooms… providing an engaging, high-quality product is important to them.While it’s outside of Columbus proper, the drive is really not bad - and well worth it. The location makes it easy to grab dinner before or after your game.They’ve got a fourth game in the works, and we’ll be anxiously awaiting the opportunity to add it to our repertoire!
Myself and a group of coworkers were looking to do something as a team bonding/building. I was looking for more of an experience when it came to an Escape Room. We did the room “The Sins of Doctor Faustus” and it was incredible! The room has so much detail to create the experience, the backstory of Doctor Faustus was so cool. The owners of Captivating Worlds were so nice and humble. You can clearly tell they love what they have created here, and I am grateful for them for bringing it to the area! I wish them nothing but success! Don’t question whether you should go, buy the tickets and have a good time! Thank you again for an incredible experience!
Best escape room in Columbus. We did The Sins of Dr Faustus. The room immersed you in the story and our group had a blast figuring out the puzzles. Highly recommend Captivating Worlds.
My team and I are experienced escapers (25+ rooms) and The Sins of Doctor Faustus is by far the best and most immersive escape experience we have encountered. The attention to detail in the puzzles and props are second to none. I wish we had discovered Captivating Worlds earlier in our trip so we could have booked the other room but we will 100% figure out how to return in the future. 10/10 amazing experience.
This immersive escape room was very unique and high-quality! You could tell a lot of thought and effort went into the back story and aesthetics of the entire atmosphere. The rooms were incredibly pleasing visually; the decor was very realistic and well thought out. The game master was very creative with the stories, extremely passionate, and helpful without giving things away. We were also impressed with friendliness of the staff. They were interested in us succeeding and having fun while understanding the rules, clues, and back stories of the rooms. (We completed The Sins of Doctor Faustus and definitely plan on going back to a different room!)
The room we did was so much fun!! The puzzles were interesting and challenging, using really cool technology for an all-around amazing experience.
This place was amazing! We had 10 people go some have done escape rooms and some haven’t, every single one of us had a blast. The ones that have been to an escape room befor said it tops them all!!!! Btw I never leave reviews but this place deserves it!
This is the absolute best escape room in the Columbus area. If you are going to do an escape room this is the place to go! The experience is like no other that Ive been to. The lights, music, and effects are top notch and the fact that this is owned and operated by a super nice couple in the area makes it that much better! Ive done several escape rooms before and this was by far the best one! The ones that I have done before were just a bunch of combination locks, but this had lots of different games to solve. You can tell that they spend a lot of time creating the rooms.
This place was WAY better than I expected it to be. Ive never done an escape room before so I was not sure what to expect but it was harder than I thought it would be. We finished with 2 minutes left and we bought a t-shirt to help support these guys further. I was really impressed with how all of the props and stories were created by one person. You have to look at the detail he puts into these rooms. It is incredible!
10/10 RECOMMEND! This is hands down the best you’ll find in the industry. Seriously out of this world. Its locally owned and worth every penny. The owners have created everything from the thorough storylines to the incredibly detailed props and puzzles. This isn’t your average escape room. Robotics are incorporated into the puzzles and events, making this a truly interactive experience. They offer several different themed rooms as well. Our friend group has plans to make this a monthly outing.
I took my girlfriend into the Sins of Dr. F room and we were blown away! The thought and effort the owners put into making a quality, TRULY immersive experience was amazing with so many surprising events and characteristics. This was by far the best escape room I’ve ever done and the unique way the owners are able to interact with you while in the room is amazing! Despite having only two people, we were able to finish the room in time and really enjoy every step of the room! I would definitely recommend doing this in smaller groups so you don’t miss out on any of the features of the escape room! Will definitely be back to try the other rooms in the future!
We had an excellent experience in THE SINS OF DOCTOR FAUSTUS, it is far and above the other escape rooms I’ve been through. Great use of technology for special effects enhanced the experience without overwhelming it.If you’ve become a little bored with escape rooms, Captivating Worlds has the antidote!

Cool puzzles. We did THE SINS OF DOCTOR FAUSTUS with 4 adults, and 3 kids aged 13-17. I love all the electrical mechanical puzzles--not just locks, and the way they gave us clues when we asked felt like it was part of the puzzle, and not just cheating. Its a real passion project from a super creative couple, highly recommend.
This was our first time doing an escape room. We were very nervous but we were immediately put at ease about our experience upon arrival. The owners were extremely friendly and shared with us their story about the business. We truly enjoyed our experience and we did manage to complete the room with 1:56 left to go. It was challenging and exciting. We will definitely be returning to do the other rooms. I would highly recommend this experience if you are looking for an enjoyable adventure.
Our group of 5 had varying degrees of experience with escape rooms and everyone agreed this was a step above the rest. You can really tell the GM has a true passion for what he is doing. He and his wife were enthusiastic, friendly and helpful. The game itself was very challenging, but I never felt completely stuck because the GM kept us moving forward without giving too much away. The quality of the room was outstanding. Both usable and decorative items genuinely from the 1800s such as books, puzzle boxes, and sculptures (skulls?) created an immersive experience while the super high production technology operated in the background without breaking the mood. I will absolutely come back, and am anxious for The Machine to debut. Big fan of this place, bravo!!
We had a GREAT time at Captivating Worlds. We have completed a number of escape rooms in the past and Captivating Worlds is at the top! Our group consisted of ages 7-73 and there was something for everyone to do. We did the Barnyard Winds room, which had a very family friendly theme and story line. As stated on the website, the puzzles are designed for adults, but we still found a lot of ways to involve the younger players. It was a blast and we will be back for sure!
My dad planned an escape room here for my twin sister and my 22nd birthday and we all had a blast! I had done escape rooms before but this one was slightly different. It was a fun challenge and I was really impressed with the room itself- everything from the decor to the sound and light effects were amazing! I would highly recommend checking Captivating Worlds out! It’s a great activity for groups of friends or families looking to have some fun and make memories! The hosts/ owners were great too. I can’t wait to go back and try some other rooms in the future.
Absolutely love this place! They currently have two rooms (Barnyard Winds and The Sins of Dr Faustus) but are producing two more. Both Barnyard and Faustus are interesting, unique, and integrate technology in a creative and organic way. Both rooms were very challenging and fun, and we were able to keep our kids involved as well — although they did get a little spooked in the Faustus one! :) The Dr Faustus room had the best set I’ve seen in an escape room and is my favorite out of about ~20 escape rooms that I’ve done. The game masters / owners are super helpful and enthusiastic. Overall great experience — I highly recommend!!
I have NEVER done an escape room, and I was very skeptical about it, but this was the most fun I have had in a long time. It was exhilarating and kept me on my toes. Great for large groups. We had a group of 12 and there was still plenty of room.
Have done dozens of escape rooms and this is among the best Ive seen. We did The Sins of Dr. Faustus with a group of 4 and it was fantastic. Immersive room, great use of lighting and technology, novel puzzle designs. They clearly have put a lot of time, energy, and money into the design of this room. Our group will be back for others at this location.Might get a little crowded with 7 or 8 people in the room at once. 4 felt like a great number for everyone to be contributing and able to get through all the puzzles.
My children and I have done many escape rooms and this was our favorite! The set was beautifully and intricately put together. The audio and computer animations were impressive, as well as the originality of the puzzles and the storyline. I thought 75 minutes would feel long, but it flew by! We had a blast. We look forward to coming back!
This was an absolutely amazing escape room! Not only were the puzzles complex and challenging but the theme of the room was incredibly immersive. We did this as a family outing and we are super excited to come back and complete the other escape rooms!

I loved this escape room! I have been to another escape room and I felt like I was just sitting and doing nothing. But at this escape room I was always doing something. The decor in the room was beautiful. I went for my friends birthday and they ended up making a card for my friend. I would highly recommend this escape room (I did The Sins of Doctor Faustus). I have recommended this to my friends and family.
This place is so unique and the first escape room I did here was extremely thrilling and exciting. The people who run this place are extremely friendly and clearly passionate about what they do. It’s incredible how they built these intricate, thrilling, exciting puzzles all on their own. This escape room gave me an opportunity to bond with my group of friends through laughter and teamwork and it was something we all enjoyed. The escape room was amazing! We did the Faust room, which was incredibly immersive and fun. Would highly recommend for anyone who loves escape rooms or just loves having fun. The host was awesome and incredibly nice, it was an incredible experience!
We took our daughter and 2 friends for her 13th bday. We did the Sins of Dr Faustus room. It was beautifully decorated- I mean this room looked like an actual den/library. The puzzles were fun and we accomplished the task (“escaped”) with only 33 seconds to spare. The room was challenging for 2 adults and 3 young teens but not overly so that it was still fun. The game is set up so that you can all be working on different puzzles at the same time. And that is necessary if you want to beat the game. The girls had a blast and just loved every minute. But what really impressed me was that we mentioned this was for my daughters bday when we arrived. During the game, after we unlocked a drawer, inside was our next piece of the puzzle and a card for my daughter. Thats a special touch that is the “above and beyond” you rarely get anymore and was evidence how much this husband and wife team is dedicated to your experience. Highly highly recommend this company.
I’ve been to ~20 escape rooms but, never felt inclined enough to leave a review until now. “The Sins of Dr Faustus” was by far the best escape room I’ve ever been to! The production value was outstanding & the puzzles were so clever (not a single lockbox). 10/10 would recommend. Definitely coming back!

A group of friends and myself recently completed The Sins of Doctor Faustus room and were thoroughly impressed with both the puzzles and the theming of the room. As avid escape room fans, weve completed almost every escape room in Columbus and are very excited to add Captivating Worlds as one of our new favorites.The puzzles all felt unique and worked incredibly well with how much technology is used in the room. There were always multiple things to be working on so we never felt railroaded into doing one specific puzzle at a time. The room also uses audio clues to let you know when you solve a puzzle, which is a really nice addition.In terms of theming, its very clear the builder of the room has a passion for the story and making it come to life. Without spoiling anything, Ill just say there are a lot of subtle (and some not so subtle) details that really come together to pull you into the story of the room.The Sins of Doctor Faustus is an excellent experience for anyone who loves challenging escape rooms and Im very excited to check out what else Captivating Worlds has to offer!
We had an absolute blast at Captivating Worlds. We have done most of the escape rooms in this Columbus area, and the Sins of Dr. Faustus experience was by far the most well thought out and designed room weve completed. No detail was overlooked in the design of the room and the puzzles are engaging and unique and require teamwork between all players, making sure youre working together throughout the whole experience. We will definitely be back when they open up their new experiences and recommend you check our Sins of Dr. Faustus if you like puzzles/escape rooms! The owners were really engaging to talk to before and after the experience and you can tell theyre really passionate about giving their customers the highest quality experience they can!

WOW So much fun. I went with my husband and my 12 year old son. This was our first escape room and it far exceeded anything I expected. The work that has been put into this is amazing, immersive is 100% accurate. We wanted to get out and do something as a family and this was perfect. We will be returning soon to try other experiences. My son was asking if we could come back next weekend before we even left the building. The owners/creators seem like awesome people and have really created something to be proud of.

Went to Captivating Worlds over a month ago and just remembered to leave a review due to a memory my family has now, thanks to the amazing couple that runs this place. Captivating Worlds was our first escape room, and we were blown away by the story, the cohesion of the puzzles to that story, and the overall atmosphere. You genuinely feel like youve descended into a mad mans mistake. Dr Faustus was an incredible experience and now that weve went, Im more than happy to wait to experience more of what they have to offer. This is a premium escape room experience and there is nothing like it. Throw your money at these people. They deserve it tremendously.
I booked the barnyard winds room with my parents. The people running this place are really wholesome and they put a lot of time and heart into crafting the rooms. I really recommend going here. The puzzles are really fun and interactive. Also, the place looks small from the outside but dont be fooled! It has 2 floors and it goes back really far! Will definitely be coming back to try out the other rooms.
Enjoyed the Barnyard Winds room with my friend over the weekend and we had so much fun! The puzzles were really engaging and the theming is great! I’ve done all three rooms now and I can say with confidence that they are the best in Columbus. Each is unique and immersive to the theme and no two puzzles are alike. We had such a fun time. We were celebrating my husband’s 63rd birthday. It was us and my 2 brothers and their wives. We range in age from 40s to 50s to 60s. We worked well as a team and actually solved the challenge with 5 mins left. The owners were great and took their time to ensure we understood all the rules. We did the Barn scenario. I highly recommend this for a group fun experience!
We had such a fun time at Captivating Worlds doing the Barnyard escape room. There was a large variety of puzzles and games requiring different skill levels. It had a fun theme and was well thought out. I highly recommend giving it a try.

Had a really great experience doing the Sins of Dr. Faustus Immersive Escape Room. The challenges were tough and the room was hard but our team managed to complete it. I liked the technology that was used as well. This room was different than any other I have done. I would definitely recommend them to any one looking to do an escape room. The owners accommodated us for an earlier start time as well.
Me and my family went here & had the greatest time. From the briefing before the game to the game its self, every thing was amazing. Her and her husband built the best escape rooms & theres more being developed there that will be open soon. Definitely going back!
This was a fun date night for me and my girlfriend. We have done upwards of 30 escape rooms and Captivating worlds by far tops them all. You are never focused on getting out, you are so put into the story line that you legitimately feel like you are a part of it. Love how there were hardly any locks and codes needed for the room. Each and every puzzle led to the next and the rooms are a next level experience. Well done!
Wow! The amount of thought, work, time and effort put into creating this escape room is nothing short of incredible. The owner does all of the work, including technology, himself. This isn’t just a “find the keys and open the locks” type of situation. This is a true experience. It’s a story, and you are drawn in to become a part of it. The puzzles are creative and thought-provoking; you will be thinking about this long after you have left. The time flies by, and you will find yourself wishing you had hours to just explore this incredible room. I can’t recommend this highly enough- five stars just doesn’t cut it. I give it TWENTY stars! And I can’t wait to go back to do other rooms!
We have visited a number of escape room venues in the past (even so far as visiting some in New York and Florida), but they can not compare to the experience we had at captivating worlds! Excellent puzzles and atmosphere. And some of the most friendly people I have met. We’re already planning our next visit to Captivating Worlds!
This experience was worth every dollar! It was exciting,intriguing, fun....it definitely isnt your typical escape room! You also have the chance to become a part of your own experience! Great for couples or groups! Try them out you wont regret it!
We are escape game enthusiast who have done well over 100 games around the world. We did barnyard winds and Sins of Dr. Faustus. Both were excellent. The games were non linear and logical. There were several unique puzzles/activities that we had never seen before. Very few locks - as most were technology based. Id highly recommend these games!
Absolutely amazing and memorable experience provided by Captivating Worlds. It was very welcoming and provided a comfortable lobby with such kind people running this place. You can tell they are professionals at what they do and the room itself is completely unbelievable and exciting every minute. Honestly, Id say its almost cheap for the experience it provides and certainly surpasses any competition around. I highly recommend this to all who are fans of escape rooms or even escape room experts as this provides quite the challenge but uniquely provides an unbelievable experience. I can say confidently this is the best experience Ive had and I look forward to the upcoming rooms, bring a group and have the time of your life this is a unique experience.
The Sins of Doctor Faustus room is BY FAR the best room in the Columbus area (we’ve done pretty much all of them), almost certainly the best room in the State of Ohio (obviously haven’t done them all but dozens) and is one of the 2 best rooms we have ever done (8 different States) (along with “Ruins: Forbidden Treasure” at The Escape Game Nashville).The combination of unique and interesting puzzles combined with the most immersive experience make it an absolute MUST-DO room for Escape Room enthusiasts! If you are new to Escape Rooms, my advice is to save this room for after you’ve done several others because other games will not fair well in comparison... do the lesser rooms while they still seem great and you don’t know what a truly amazing room is like.The Barnyard Winds game is really good as well. Very immersive and just plain fun.The owners are about the nicest people you will ever meet, and I just can’t say enough good things about this business (I am not affiliated in any way — just an Escape Room Enthusiast who really appreciates a great ER business).

As a newly blended family this was one fabulous way to get the family to work together, communicate and just flat out have fun. We will for sure be going and trying the other rooms. I had a chance to explore Captivating Worlds’ The Sins of Doctor Faustus. I would highly recommend this room to anyone. It was such an immersive experience and I had a great time with my testing group. The puzzles really force you to think outside the box, the storyline was captivating, and the aesthetics were perfect. If you have some free time this weekend or need a group event, this is the place to go.
Such a neat experience! This is not your average escape room, it is much better. You are immersed in a story in which you have to solve a variety of puzzles to unlock different clues. The technology, audio, and visual components made the room very interactive. I will definitely be back for the other two rooms!
We took our 8 year old to play Barnyard Winds and had an amazing time. The room was challenging, but were able to finish with a few minutes left. They did something special for his birthday as well. The rooms are done very well, they have thought of everything. We will definitely be back at some point to do the other rooms.
My friends and I chose to visit Captivating Worlds over the New Years weekend as a fun way to spend some time together. We had a BLAST completing this interactive room and solving the mystery. It really took all of us working together as a team. It was easy to tell how much thought and preparation went into this experience to make it as special as it was. I highly recommend visiting Captivating Words for a unique group activity with friends or family members.

This is BY FAR the best escape room I have ever done. The logistics and technology is nothing like anything you’ve ever seen. With each step you are even more amazed at the room itself. The guy who makes the rooms is passionate about his work, and it truly shows. Him and his wife, Mary, run the facility and not only are they taking each precaution to keep their customers safe but also ensures they have the time of their life! It truly is full of captivating worlds. You will not be disappointed !

I took my three teens and we had an amazing time. The Sins of Dr. Faustus was immersive, thought provoking and the technology was fantastic. The staff/owners were very informative and passionate about their work which was evident in the rooms they invented. Can’t wait to try their other rooms in the future.

Our family of 4 (children 8 & 9) did Barnyard Winds together and had a great time! It was challenging but reasonable. There are opportunities for young children to get involved in solving puzzles or completing challenges. We loved our experience and would highly recommend!
I was invited to preview the first experience room The Sins of Dr Faustus and I was blown away. I have done a couple of other escape rooms but have to say I really appreciate the idea of the experience room. The focus isnt escaping but rather getting immersed into the story of Dr Faustus. Everything about this room and story was beautiful and well thought out. I look forward to the other rooms opening soon!

Captivating worlds is a top game in Columbus! Ive played both rooms. As an enthusiast, I love the thought that went behind the story, the puzzles and challenges, and how the tech supports it. The Sins of Dr. Faustus is a WOW feel from the start. The Barnyard is a neat combination of diverse games/puzzles (something different than Ive ever experienced).For this in Columbus and definitely those visiting, Captivating Worlds is a must play!
I have been to several escape rooms over the years. I must say that this was one of the best, if not the best. Most escape rooms want you to find a key to open a box, that gives you another key ETC. This room challenges you and your team to listen and think outside of the box. I strongly recommend this room to newcomers and vets.
We had so much fun! There was a lot of thought and details put into each room. They even put a special message in our room for the birthday girl! Great job Captivating World and thank you for the amazing experience. I was impressed!!
This has to be 5 stars. Easy. They have a wonderful location which is very clean, easy to find and ran by a husband and wife who have shown true passion to this place. Ive been to 20 or so different escape rooms but this one was so far from the normal experience. Its a little more expencive than the others but it was well worth it. We made it through the room with a group of 4 with around 4 minutes remaining. They have a second room that at some point soon we will making the 90 minute trip back for. The only thing I can complain about is that it may have ruined other escape rooms for me lol. Thank you guys so much for a wonderful night.
The room was challenging and fun! it had so many cool aspects and it was interesting because when you solved the puzzles you werent always sure what you were trying to open. The audio gave it a really cool and real feeling experience.
This place is very worth going. My boyfriend and I are from upstate NY, this place beats any place up by us. The people are very kind and the experience is very worth it. Anytime we come back down to visit we plan to try a new room. We are excited for the new room that is being built. This is the best escape room ever!
This is really unique. Not an escape room ... but rather an experience room. One of rooms I experienced is a 75-minute adventure that was a wonderful blend of brainteasers, puzzles and mystery, woven together amidst 19th century history and powered by 21st century technology. BRAG ALERT: We got it done with 21 seconds to spare ... but I digress. 🙂 At any rate, its very reasonably priced and the owners are taking all reasonable precautions relative to COVID.
We have been doing escape rooms for a while now and have several under our belts. This was our first visit and the experience was amazing! Not giving anything away; but the technology used was so cool!
Great escape room! Went for a bachelorette party. Finished with 2 minutes left. Beautifully done. Can tell the owner really enjoyed making it. Highly recommend.
If you haven’t had the chance to experience any of the rooms, you should do yourself the favor and book one now.

Family and I stopped by Captivating Worlds to complete their Family-friendly Barnyard Winds escape room. It was very well done. All the puzzles were good and the electronics functioned as expected. We have two children just 9 and 10 and we all had a blast and are already planning bringing our church group back for their other rooms. Wife and I have done over 200+ rooms so we know a good one when we see it. 5 Stars to David and his team at Captivating Worlds--well done! :-)
I beta tested one of the experiences and was blown away. Truly a unique and fun experience. Puzzles are extremely well thought out with a ton of surprises you will never see in another escape room. Without giving anything away youll never forget your time there highly recommend. Just be careful it will ruin all other escape rooms for you.
What a fantastic first outing since Covid-19 began! All of us had a great time--and we even finished in time...with 54 seconds to spare :). We will come back to try the other rooms. Everyone who likes solving puzzles should try this!
These rooms were some of the best rooms Ive ever done. Weve played rooms all over the states and some in Europe. The large amount of technology incorporated into the game is something you just have to see. The rooms are very non-linear so your group can work on multiple puzzles at once. Not very many locks and key but actual real thoughtful puzzles. Very well done.

Ive been to a handful of escape rooms and this was hands down the most creatively planned + executed adventure. The creativity in the room was a work of art, and it translated into a room which was an amazing time. This was no out of the box escape room! I cant wait for the other adventures to open. Had so much fun here! The theatrics were very cool (from the room decor to the lighting and sound), and the puzzles/teamwork atmosphere was a lot of fun to be a part of. I plan on coming back when the other experiences open! Would definitely recommend.
We had a great time at Captivating Worlds this weekend! It was a fun girl’s night out celebrating my birthday! The Sins of Dr. Faustus was creative and challenging and with teamwork we beat the clock with 2:38 to spare!

It was a fun and creative take on the escape room that harkens back to old games like Myst. Its emphasis on team work and puzzle solving over rote searching every square inch was refreshing. All in all I was very satisfied and am looking forward to their next room coming out.

This experience was AMAZING! It was so different from a traditional escape room. Captivating Worlds blew my mind. It had effects that were near movie quality! The owners are wonderful. I highly recommend Captivating Worlds!

2022-02-11We had an amazing night tonight at our first trip to Captivating Worlds!One of the best aspects of our experience was, without a doubt, the game-master/owner, Mary. She was super friendly, explained everything thoroughly, answered all of our questions, and just made us feel super welcome in the space. During gameplay, she gave us the perfect amount of information in the form of little nudges -- never too much or too little information. It was a lot of fun and afterward Mary came in and talked to us about some of the features of the room, how different elements of the room worked, how we did, and things like that. I think you will be hard-pressed to find an escape room run by someone so friendly and welcoming. Thank you, Mary!As for the room itself, we did the Barnyard Winds room and it was a lot of fun. We were a group of 4, with a few experienced folks and one first timer. The theme may not be what you initially expect from an escape room, but you can rest assured that it didnt sacrifice anything in the way of challenge. We were moving pretty quickly and won the room with less than 2 minutes to spare. It has lots of different elements and we were impressed by the creativity and integration of technology into the experience. Captivating Worlds has a lot to be proud of and I would recommend them to anyone. I cant wait to go back!

2022-07-15My husband and I played the Dr. Faustus room as part of a date for our anniversary, and we had an absolute blast! Incredible experience from beginning to end. We were immersed in the room and the story with unbelievable decor, effects, and a wide variety of puzzles. It’s really ingenious what the room designer, David, has done here. We were engaged the whole time, and it required lots of teamwork and communication. We solved it all with 47 seconds to spare (thanks in part to thoughtful hints and nudges by the game master)! Everything was so clean from the room itself to the lobby and restroom, and the customer service aspect was top notch. I am already itching to go back and try the other rooms! We’d never done any sort of escape room, but I’m pretty sure it would be hard to find a better one than this. Truly captivating. Thank you so much!

2022-08-04We had a great time doing the Barnyard Winds escape room. My husband and I brought our 12-year-old granddaughter and we just missed finishing all the puzzles, but we had a lot of fun together and enjoyed the unique setting and effects. The staff was very nice, too. They do provide some hints and nudges if you need them but you still have to be ready to think and observe. Lots of fun!

Our group of 8 did The Sins of Dr Faustus and the special affects, storyline, room decor was all amazing. We finished just in time. The owners put so much detail and interactive parts to this room. Well done, our group can’t wait to come back!! There was plenty of room for all of us and we were all kept busy and engaged the whole time.

2022-03-28Absolutely killer experience - we went with 4 to Welcome to the Machine and that was about the right number. I had a great time. The room had great production value, cool puzzles, and the passion that the owners have for this experience is clear. They could not have been more accommodating and this is amongst the best escape room experiences I have been to. I strongly recommend to anyone that has any interest! I will certainly be coming back.

2022-01-16My family and I completed Dr. Faustus sins room today. There were 8 of us working together during this experience and every minute of it was filled with excitement and utilization of intellect. Both staff members/owners/ creators were pleasant, professional, and very welcoming. The escape room itself was beautiful and well thought out including presentation, flow, and story line. Every minute detail was considered. The experience itself was a perfect balance of pressure to finish the puzzles in the allotted time while allowing you to enjoy the experience and have fun with family and friends. An absolute 5/5 stars. We will be returning to complete the other puzzles very soon.!

2022-01-06I did the Doctor Faustus room with my family over the holidays and found this to be a very unique experience. Ive done upwards of a dozen escape rooms and this was by far one of the most immersive. The designer/builder/owner(?) welcomed us before the experience and after we were done gave a little more information and chatted with us about the experience, so it had a very personal touch. The puzzles were solid, there was something for all 7 of us to work on most of the time, and overall it was just very thoughtfully and lovingly designed. I will have to come back for another one of Captivating Worlds rooms next time I am in town.

2022-04-17In March my husband and I tried out The Sins of Dr. Faustus! We loved it! The puzzles were challenging and kept us wanting to do more! We instantly decided that wanted to go back and take people!In April we went with our friends and decided on The Machine! Again very challenging and we worked together and completed the room with 20 seconds to spare!!! It was so exciting for all of us!We look forward to going back and doing more rooms! Even excited to have our children join us!Highly recommend Captivating Worlds!!!!!

The owners are really sweet and helpful which makes the experience even more wonderful. I recommend this place to anyone ready for an entertaining adventure!
