Ive been shopping here for years but I must admit the prices have gotten pretty high lately. I can understand pricing rare antique items high but even the junk has gotten out of control. Some building materials are still fair but check around town as there are many other opportunities for good prices on things like doors windows and sinks. I still stop in once a week or so but I feel as if the good deals are flukes. For good deals on household goods, do yourself a favor and just go to Goodwill.
This is my new favorite store. I have made three purchases here of exactly what I needed. If obtaining these items elsewhere it would’ve cost me roughly $300-$400 and I would’ve had to settle for something that wasn’t exactly what I wanted. Each time, just for curiosity I went to the store and they had exactly what I needed. $100 for my three purchases, plus they helped me load it in the car each time. In fact I’m on my way there now because they have a sale on cabinets!
There is nothing but greatness to share here. The operation is set up as a charity. Its filled with cool stuff to see and purchase for reuse. They are all about recycling. Everyone is pleasant, upbeat, and happy. Theres an awesome cat that gives you lovins at the checkout counter. And there is a never ending rotation of fascinating architectural and home design elements. Make time to stop by and spend some time.
Recycled building materials from bathtubs to mantels to lights to tiles. Good selection, decent prices, inventory changes often. They host a wonderful repurposed artisan goods fair, which had excellent offerings. Nice resource for the community, with their job training and craft workshops.
What a great place for all of your home remodeling needs! I just found BV and glad I did. Repurposing materials, discounted products and upcycling is what they do best, and they are excellent at it. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and go the extra mile to help everyone who walks through the door. I dealt with Dave Daniels and I cant say enough good things about him! He went the extra mile with helping me get a reasonable priced set of kitchen cabinets. Ive already referred several people to Building Value and have been there twice since discovered it two days ago...and its 40 minutes from my house. Top notch place with top notch staff.
Although the staff is great and I always love stopping in, I only give 2stars due to the sky rocketing prices. Im not sure why many reviews say how cheap they are?? Ive been shopping here for years and they really did used to be super affordable and even the true high dollar antique pieces were even priced resonable but now, not so much! Im assuming there target customers must no longer be the average paycheck to paycheck individual. Being a DIYer I loved stopping in this store! In the past, I could always find exactly what i needed at more than resonable prices. It was great! Rarely do I find those deals anymore. Even a rusty, sitting outside cobweb bathtub is priced nearly as much as a brand new one on sale at Menards. Id rather spend the few extra dollars so I dont have to spend hrs cleaning off spider eggs and scrapping rust.Show your community some love Building Value and go back to the old way of pricing, this way, , all classes are able to enjoy shopping your salvage store & not just the furtunate who have the ability to spend $1,000 on a dresser. I obviously miss shopping here, but I just cant afford your pricing any longer. ☹
I needed to replafe my A/C condensor at my home due to old age and mechanical failure. I looked at Building Value and found one in the size I needed and guess what? It was only 4 years old! It was professionally removed by the people there and when I had it installed, it works flawlessly. It litterally is still under warranty from Tempstar. I paid $350 plus tax which was a steal IMHO and the money goes to a great cause. I would highly recommend this place first for anyone on a budget and wants to also give back to the community as well. This is an excellent place with excellent, polite and very helpful employees. Thanks to you all there for your great service!

2018-10-04Went for the Northside Flea event. Sponsored by Building Value they bring in Craftsman who upcycle or recycle to make their products. We also browsed the store while we were there. They had really neat things recovered from older buildings. If you are looking for something to set your home apart, this is the place.

2020-02-07They kind of dry not very friendly and they have good price but they have low quality windows even windows and that they should put in the trash instead of trying to selling it to you

2021-07-07Building Value is a wonderful resource for our community. You may not find exactly what youre looking for but youll be pleased to discover something that works. You have to use creativity in sourcing materials but you know they are diverted from the landfill and are often vintage artifacts that just need a new home.

2018-08-08My daughter is interested in construction. I took her in to look at reusable materials before we went to a hardware store to compare new items. Im impressed that she was so fascinated by everything in there. I was too. I like the antique room. Custom, hard to build, hard to find items. Really cool stuff.
