I love Buehlers. It is my favorite grocery store hands down. The Scenic River, Indian Monsoon, coffee is tremendous! This was my first time at the Portage Lakes store. I was saddened at the condition of the different departments. It was poorly organized, the meat department was poorly lit, giving it a shoddy appearance, and the doughnuts werent rotated, reflecting day old hue to the glaze. The sad part is that a little elbow grease and some perceptual thought would make this place wonderful. The associates were helpful, kind, and articulate. Like I said, I love Buehlers. I hope there is hope in this local chain.Update- I was there today and everything looked great!!! I bought a crème stick from the bakery, it was fresh and delicious! I must also say, it was the nicest looking doughnut Ive seen in a long time. That definitely proves their attention to details. Its a 5 star store!!
Curious if this store may be closing? There seems to be a lot of empty product. Or only 1-2 of the items on the shelf. It’s never particularly crowded. And they haven’t really spent a dime on the store since taking it over from IGA years ago. It’s not even a typical Buehler’s.
Amazing staff!! Buehler’s in the Portage Lakes is the grocery store I shop at every week. The staff has always been wonderful but especially during these difficult times it’s good to let people know how much they are appreciated. I’ve been using the grocery pickup option and it’s been fantastic. Staff is extremely helpful taking my order and calling to let me know if something isn’t available and offering other options. Thank you for making the process so easy and comfortable, all your efforts are truly appreciated.
Small fruit and vegetable section, limited organic products and limited selection on canned goods. They had local farm produce in season, but limited compared to other area markets like Kreigers. Good for specials in their advertisements, or if their brand selection meets your standard items. Local roll butter and organic milk were available, but giant eagle market district has a better selection of common items.
A great clean & friendly store with the Best Chicken & Jo Jos and the Bakery is Fantastic! Always Fresh foods and Great sales. The great team work between employees and manager, Jim Fox, is remarkable! The employees speak so highly and appreciate their store manager. I have shopped there for 4 yrs and recommend it to everyone. Happy Shopping!
Nice store, pricey, just like their competitors, I only went there to refill my water jugs with their reverse osmosis vending machines, but did go inside store. Very neat, orderly, and clean along with very nice store personnel. If you dont mind higher prices, just like other large grocery chain stores, be sure to stop in for a look.
Honostly incredible employees Deb cashier up front so sweet , Kyle and Bill in meat Dept best ever ..Renee in hot foods exceptional as is Ruth on register or cash office ..Theresa another great cashier ..this entire store on a whole great employees and people ..im a regular shopper cause of this reason ..please other shoppers Bread is now in Aisle 1 lol..
Their food is good but Im tired of having to decipher the cost of their items. I have had the misfortune of having to take items back or pay more than I wanted to for items. I recently read a tag on milk and thought it was a great deal because it was on sale so I was going to buy two gallons only to find out they were WAY more expensive than that and werent even on sale. Their produce section isnt any better. Produce arent placed in the right places so the prices dont match where they are located. Im done playing the guessing game on how much Im going to pay for my groceries.
We are big buehlers fans but the one in Portage Lakes is horrible. They rarely have their sales marked correctly they have a non-existent meat department Beware of the fruits and milk and their staff is rude. There is a night and day difference between the Buehlers in Wadsworth then the one in Portage Lakes.
Best local grocer ever. Very well run. Excelkent smoked meats. Friendly manager and staff. Fresh produce. Big variety of foods for a small grocer, even carrying items the larger nearby grocers dont. Its a small local grocer so it might not be as cheap as Walmart, but it is bar none the best local grocery!
Nice little store that sells some different brands that you wont find elsewhere. They also sell Boars Head meats, cheeses, and sauces, which is the primary reason why I take occasional shopping trips here. However, because the store is relatively small, it just doesnt have the same kind of selection youll find at Giant Eagle and Acme Fresh Market. That is why I dont make regular grocery shopping trips here. I usually just get some Boars Head products and a few other items.
This was our 2nd time to this store and oh my goodness we were impressed beyond belief. First they didnt have what we wanted on the shelf, so a worker went back and checked the back room to see if they had it there. They didnt have any however, she asked what we liked and said she would order it and took down my phone number to let me know when it comes in! I mean talk about WONDERFUL customer service!!! Then we went to check out and our cashier was just amazing! She made the remaining time there just wonderful. Best customer service Ive ever had at any grocery store!!!
This is the first Buehlers weve ever shopped, and we were impressed with the selection of craft beers as well as the fact that many were available for individual purchase. We were able to try many varieties before committing to a six pack. The staff was quite friendly, and well definitely return.
If i could give 0 stars or even negative stars, I would. Due to faulty equipment a check my wife wrote wouldnt read on their system. The store manager treated my wife like a criminal. So she paid with a credit card. Needless to say the embarrassment and humiliation of this incident has left a lasting impression. The store manager was rude and unfriendly to us. I promise, I will never go to this store again. I am a man of my word and will make good on that promise.
Went back to this supermarket after a while for shopping. So rude staff! I asked for a paper bag (believe not much to ask!!) treated by Shannon like I asked for ....With $$$ I spent a month on groceries, there are many other places around to spend my money. Never go back and I doubt they survive for many more years with how they treat people.
Great prices and fresh selections of vegetables and whatever grocery need you might have. Their Delicatessen center is most superb. If you like old fashioned fried chicken, coleslaw and JoJos, give them a call. They have several options for you to choose from and it is delicious.
June 13th 2020- Buehlers is still taking all precautions to keep their employees and customers safe during the covid19 pandemic. Including announcements over the intercom reminding everyone of social distancing and handwashing procedures! Clean store, with a great bakery and produce sections. Employees are very friendly and will help you with anything you need.
During the stay at home order, my elderly father who needed food stopped here. He has been a loyal customer since they opened but that all changed when he was refused curbside service because he wanted less than 15 items! He is 83 years oldAndWas refused serviceBecause he wanted less than 15 items....Shame on Buehlers, you lost your best customer.
Was there the other day with my mom weve always shopped at Buelhers went to check out l was not wearing a mask I cant wear a mask been diagnosed COPD . she says were is mask I didnt say anything she says Ill shut it down I turned and walked out. I hope they treat other customers with more respect.
Edited - check all your items these days! We loved this store (see original review below), but something has seriously gone awry. Here are some occurrences over the past few months, starting with the most dangerous:1 - We purchased aspirin. Outside carton was sealed. Inside bottle’s safety seal was removed. Was returned to store today and mentioned that they might want to check other stock. Buehler’s reply “Oh my.”2 - Shopping and watching a man that perhaps might have been homeless - filthy clothing, strong body odor - he was going along ripping into packages eating food, spraying it everywhere. Store’s response? “He might be hungry”. Not that I don’t feel sorry for those that are hungry but this is a health issue.3 - Cider - Also had a seal broke. When I went to drink it, it had a horrendous, spoilt taste.4 - Other expired products. There might be some financial issue going on, as we had been told one day when all the lights were off in the refrigerated areas - “We’re trying to conserve energy.” OK, that’s great for older eyeballs.THIS WAS OUR PRIOR EXPERIENCE, FOR YEARS. MAYBE SOMEONE ELSE HAS BOUGHT THE STORE - please see above so you are aware of some health hazards. What a difference this store is from the huge chains in the area. Weve been going here for years, since it was an IGA. Once in a while, Ive had to venture into the larger stores for a few things (sons special diet at the time), and those just arent as nice as Buehlers. My husband actually stops more often than I do. Every single time, its a good experience. The employees are always helpful and kind, never rude or bothered like the other places that are over on Massillon Road (Green). Much rather spend hard-earned money here!
This was my first time in the store since the changeover. Customer service was excellent. The store is very clean and very well stocked. Normally this would be enough for me to come back. Sorry, but the prices are alot higher than even Acme. I cannot patronize your store even though it is very convenient for me.Thank you,Gerri Channell
3 day sale is a scam it did not say while supplies last anywhere on the ad. They said they where out of the whole loins they advertised for 6.99 a pound and so where all of the other stores. I went ahead and got 6 filet mignon steaks, tenderloin steaks where advertised at 8.99 a pound. When I checked out they told me the steak was filet mignon not tenderloin my understanding is filet mignon is french for tenderloin steak. Spoke to the manager who did not care if I came back again or not so Acme is my new grocery store from now on!
My favorite employee, Debbie/ cashier might be leaving soon.Just lost her husband and the company wont work with her going full time,(12yrs of service.)Overlooked for someone, been there a year!Being a long time Green resident and business owner, I find it reprehensible.

2021-10-22Nice smaller market with good selection and prices! Being a employee-owned store you would think that the employees would be friendly and happy to have you in their store. These people are borderline rude, as if they are doing the customer a favor by being here.

2022-06-30First time in years, I went here to get a few things. Prices were outrageous, item I usually pay 1.29 for was 1.49, but here is the kicker, I did no have a Buehler card 1.79. After waiting in line with two cashiers in same isle and then ring up order for 1.20 more than I thought. They said I can get a Buehler card at service desk. It was lined up to wait another 10 mins, not worth it. Walked out. Cashiers are not very friendly with those prices, you should pay more so they can be nicer.

2022-06-09I have had it with this store, they had what they call smokehouse ribs on sale yesterday so i bought a slab. When i heated them up later that night they just fell apart because they were boiled for so long, looked more like pulled pork than ribs. If these ribs were smoked Im the queen of england, not even a hint of smoke, tasted old and stale. Well at least i had the melon to eat, nope, cut into it and it must have been used as a bowling ball because it was mush inside. Ribs and melon both went into the trash, $18.00 in the trash. By the way if your looking for something to grill just rush right over and grab yourself a greenish brown steak from the Managers Special section Yum.

2022-03-12People say Buehlers prices are higher then most. That may be true if youre looking for one or two particular items. However, overall Buehlers is very competitive with other supermarkets. Buehlers puts out a add everywhere for savings coupons and if you go shopping at buehlers you will see the hundreds of items marked down that wasnt in the weekly ad. And I mean theres a whole bunch and over all there prices arent any higher then the next place. Even if a few items I normally get cost more I would still go there because the place is kept up exceptional. The floors always sparkle the carts are disinfected between customers from open till close the shelves the products are on are always neat and orderly the restrooms are continuously cleaned and mostly the associates at buehlers are great with there customers and will always offer a helpful hand taking your groceries to your car and loading them into your car rain or shine. Even (if) Buehlers prices were a little more I would still shop there because customer service rates a 10 and thats worth more then a few extra pennies

2022-03-31Buehlers is an okay store if its close to home and the convience store or dollar general doesnt have what ya need! I only say this because there prices are just really high on most items you can get some where else at half the cost!

2021-12-08We had an experience at this location that set a bad tone for me and my family. We called, spoke to the manager Kelley and he went above and beyond to listen to our concerns and to take corrective action towards a resolution. He has by far exceeded my expectations in customer service and appreciate all he has done.

2022-01-02The Wadsworth store carries different items than this location. It seems like a nice store, but I went in especially for one of those items only found at Wadsworth.

2021-11-25Abby saved my Thanksgiving dish! Lol. Abby was so kind to make the effort over the phone to see if they had a item actually in stock for me come and not just looking at what inventory said they had. While the other 6 stores I went to, in the area, made no attempt and used the lines like what is on the shelf is what we have or night crew loads the shelf. Thank you Abby I appreciate your customer service!
