Reserved a car two weeks in advance. I had to adjust my travel plans, due to work, on the day before I was to pick up the car. I called to change my pick up time from 12:00 to 5:30 pm, but was going to return the car at the original time (would have the car less time than originally planned). I called 24 hours in advance. I was told the rate would almost double if I changed the pick up time. I asked what happens if I just don’t pick it up until later, I was told I would be charged $29 for each 15 minutes I was late. I cancelled the reservation. I don’t know if that’s SOP for car rental places but I’ve never had that issues before. I won’t be using Budget again.
I had a reservation for a minivan Saturday, May 18th at 8a. I called the number direct to inform them that I would pick up the van by 10a. I was told there would not be a problem & the reservation would be held for 15 hours. Showed up at 9:30am and no minivan. The agent said the res was at 8 and we have no van. I explained that I called, but it did not matter. My guess is the minivan would not have been there at 8a either. Very Frustrating! I guess they did not see the Seinfeld Episode about reservations & car rentals.
Originally 1 Star - Update at Bottom- So long story, sorry. I reserved a Malibu (39 mpg) Jan 2019 for a trip in late March because when I had reserved a Malibu in August 2018 on a Friday at noon for the same day from this establishment. I received the car, I reserved, in reasonably clean condition. I drove to Grand Rapids, MN obtained around was at around 45 mpg. Well, this time I arrived, March 2019 reservation, 2 other customers and I all had to be upgraded to SUVs because the Springbreakers (their words) had taken all the cars that morning. I got a Kia Sportage (29 mpg) dirty as all hell to drive to Missouri. I’ve attached pictures of (I think) gum in my driver’s seat, Dirt in the driver area and stains in the back for my son to sit in. I took a picture of the steering wheel but stopped the rest of the car because I had to clean pre trip and the rest of the car, cup holders and front passenger seat, were just as bad. Now I dont expect a rental to be new but a ruff vacuum and a little 409 cleaner please. I did notice a scratch and took a picture because I got no walk around on the day I picked up. There was no recourse at the time because 3 SUVs left is 3 SUVs for 3 customers. Enterprise was closed Sunday and we were leaving 6am Monday.So 6am Monday rolls around after I had inflated the tires properly we are off. As the trip began, low washer fluid notice came on when I turned my wipers on in the rain…NICE. Just as expected. At our first fill-up after a 27 mpg economy I made sure to buy a gallon of washer fluid…and the car took it all. End of the trip I totaled it up – 27mpg the whole way, far less than the Malibu 38 mpg (its advertised 39 mpg but I took one off to account for luggage).Cost me an extra $65 in gas conservatively (at 27 mpg). Now had I had the car I rented probably closer to $80-$100 but I refuse to do the math because I am frustrated enough.$3 washer fluid, I was hostage at a gas station in Illinois rain/bugs. Thank God because Missouri had a ton.$4 quickie mart Vacuum, self wash (no machine). I inspected the outside of the car for damage and found the scratches and took photos because I had no walk around.2 hours of elbow grease to clean the cup holders, front interior window (I have no clue who sneezed), half a bottle of 409 and roll of paper towels.Good News!! I got a random Amazon Gift card for $17 from Budget….$17 REALLY. What a joke. They want customers like me, cleaner than when they got it…really…Yes really. Im no perfectionist but I’m not letting my passengers sit in (maybe cream cheese in the front seat) and maybe melted chocolate in the back. I definitely am not driving 10 hrs with god knows what under my hands.Now I’m not an old guy and email communication works best because I have a job but no emails, no call and a random credit.Could have been a bad customer service experience turn around by budget but no…nothing. Here you go Budget, a free lesson, pay attention 1st step is a big one…Step 1 - Budget - look at your reservations for the next 2 days and…I don’t know…HOLD THOSE CARS.Step 2 - When receiving a car back – Vacuum it at a minimum. Check Washer fluid, Oil and Tire pressure. Lawsuit because the tire blows out are a B*^%$ in civil court. Mine were 38 PSI 30, 30, 31.Step 3 - If you foul up…UNDERSTAND CUSTOMER…TALK TO THEM…just maybe. Upgrade if you failed at Step 1 and 2 and discount the car to account for rough gas upfront.Step 4 - ApologizeUse at your own risk - Ive told you what to prep for. Hope this helps.Update 4/10/2019 - Budget Gave me a credit for 50$ no call or email but much better. Gonna Move to 3 stars from 1. $67 credit total. Wish I didnt have to go through this.
A 1 is generous... Absolutely the worst experience renting a car -ever. We had scheduled our rental (minivan) in April for pick up at the Frantz Road location on June 30th at 9:00 am.When we arrived (at the confirmed date and time) to pick up our vehicle, we waited a few minutes to even be greeted. When the employee finally came to the desk, he was wearing sunglasses where you couldn’t even see his eyes. When we gave him our name and asked about our rental, he just shrugged his shoulders and said that it wasn’t here. We followed up with asking when it would be here, and received the answer of ‘Never’, and he looked away. We kept asking how, why and where our van was and eventually he said it ‘might, maybe, possibly be here at 11, but he couldn’t confirm’. He tried (supposedly) to call someone about it and we were told there was no answer. We left asking him to call us if he heard anything, and also let him know that we would be following up.We tried calling the store back- mind you, we were supposed to have left for vacation by 10:00 am, and received no answer. I then called customer service. We were told to rental the exact same class vehicle with a competitor and Budget would refund the difference. This difference is $600+ since we had to rent the van last minute, and my original rental was made 2.5 months prior.I have submitted ALL documents 3 times and am still getting the run around. Will update if this ever gets resolved.Even IF, we receive our money back, I will never rent from the Frantz Road/Dublin location, and will share this experience with anyone that asks for a recommendation.**Update- we did receive a refund of the extra cost we incurred by having to use a different company.
Would not do business here. Booked 6 mo. Out for a mini van . Called to confirm 3mo. Out, then physical went there 1 week before our travel date expressed the importance of having a mini van. Owner said he understood and we would have it. We showed up the day we scheduled and no minivan anywhere! Tried to give us a Ford flex!!! 3 teenage boy all over 55 myself and husband, doing a 5 week road trip across the country...could not possible fit!! Could not help us find another place to get a van. My husband had to go to the airport and fortunately able to get one. Took the whole day and it was filthy full of sand and had articles of clothing. Took us 40 mins to clean before we could even pack. Never gave us our deposit. Ssid they never charged us. Ha also never offered to compensate us. We paid to have an oil changed , never reimbursed as they said they would. Thankfully we only changed it once. Horrible place to work with. This yr we are taking our business elsewhere.
When I made the reservation I specifically asked pick up policy. I was well within range so I made the reservation. call the morning of, after the rental time, and was told they do not do pickups. so I did uber to get to the office to find office locked with a paper clock on the do saying back at 7:30. I arrived at 7:35 am. rather than wait for some uncertain time, I made other plans. forget budget if you need dependable rental car service.
Beware! Please check the fuel and amount before you sign the agreement while picking up the car. I had picked up the car about 1/3 of gas left in it but the agreement said full tank and when I said asked for explanation they said the system shows the car was rented with full tank. It is clear that they don’t maintain their records. I would never rent again a this location.
This is the worst horrible experience ive ever had in my life! I will never suggest anyone to do business with this company. Especially if your like me and never rented a car before and doesnt know how it works! So a few weeks ago i looked online and found budget. The prices were decent so i wanted to continue to get the rental. Before!!!!! I made the actual purchase. I called this budget to find out everything i needed to get the rental. The person on the phone DID NOT tell me i would need a major credit card to get a rental with this company. All he said i needed was my ID, insurance, and the money! So i booked online. The day of my trip i go to pick up my car just for these people to tell me i cant get the rental cause of my credit and i dont have a credit card!!!! So im crying like why wouldnt they say that on the phone or else i would of never booked with you guys!!!! All he did was apologize and gave me the customer service number to get a refund. Its been 6 BUSINESS days!!!! As of today and i have still not recieved my money back from this company. They keep giving me the run around and telling me different things! And now the whole situation has messed up my whole bank account because of one refund! I dont suggest this company to any ONE and im going to put this company on the BBB website and speak to an attorney about my refund, because there is something off about this company ! Like how is it this hard to send a freakn refund that they decided to honor!!!! Worst car rental place ever! Customer service should not be the ones to issue out refunds! No one wants to keep going through a telephone to deal with their money! GO WITH enterprise! All they need is a utility bill, debit card or credit card, your license and ID. They do not run your credit. And when i brought the rental back and they saw there were no damages. I recieved my deposit back right away! So idky its taking this long for a car rental place to freaking handle this refund. Big disappointment and i hate this rental company!
I used to travel for my job, so Ive rented a lot of cars. What happened today was by far the worst rental experience of my life. I reserved a full size rental for this week, 9am pickup. I get there and all they had was one Hyundai Accent and one 12 passenger van. I asked if they would adjust the price of my rental agreement if I took the Accent, and they said they couldnt do it until after the rental agreement was up. Which is nonsense, since I prepaid. They told me theyd be getting more cars in later in the day, but couldnt say when. I asked them if they could call another location, and they dodged that question. As I was getting ready to leave and go somewhere else, they came out and offered me a pickup truck. I took it, because I needed something during this week while my car is being repaired. But Ill never rent from Budget again. They got lucky that another customer was returning the truck as I was leaving. Otherwise, they did nothing to resolve the situation. Some of the worst customer service Ive ever received.
I went to go pick up my pre-paid rental. They did not have the vehicle available. They had NO vehicles available. I was told I had to call reservations and was told for that for me to get a a different rental I had to pay double because of the fees. So I have no car and now my vacation is ruined. They did not honor their agreement and offered no resolution. Absolutely horrible!!
Excellent customer service when I picked up the car. New employee that has been on he job for 1.5 weeks. Well trained, personable and friendly. Also new what he was doing...greatly appreciated the friendliness as well as the efficiency with which he processed the transaction.
I highly recommend this location. I have received consistently excellent service for many years here.Looking at some of the other reviews posted here, I feel badly and will tell my fellow renters I run into here to make sure and post their reviews. I confess that, despite having gone here for many years, it never occurred to me to post a review. This is especially bad because folks then only see the posts from very disappointed renters. It gives the wrong impression of this great location.I first used this location to drop off cars I would pick up at the airport on my return home -cheaper than a taxi!- and to drop off one way rentals from when my flight would get diverted to say, Dayton or Cleveland. I soon started using them for local rentals whenever we were between cars or temporarily needed a bigger car (lots of luggage) or a more fuel efficient one than our current vehicles.I should point out that I frequently use Uber and Lyft locally BUT have found that if I making more than a couple of trips in a day it is far more economical to rent from a neighborhood location than to make multiple Uber/Lyft trips, Especially if it is over the weekend, during rush hour, or you book the car a day or two ahead of time.Of course, while I have had success in this particular example I will use, I do not recommend waiting until, say, the day before Thanksgiving, and expect to get a car quickly. :-)Finally, I don’t think anyone will mind if I point out this location also handles Avis rentals.
My family and I are on our way for a 500-mile trip this Thanksgiving in a V-4 Nissan Sentra. I had a car just like this when I was a working-class college student because this was all I could afford at the time. Everyone knows that this car is an intermediate car. But In the world of Budget, this is a Budget - Full-size Car. It looks like someone had the Thanksgiving turkey meal early because they are full of it if they expect me to believe that a Nissan Sentra is a full-size car! The owner of the shop was called out on this and replied with some cock and bull story about standard vs. premium. NO! full size vs. intermediate! We have been going to this car rental shop several times a year for many years now, but once we get done with this trip, we will be giving our business to someone else who doesnt try to insult our intelligence.

2022-02-24Car was dirty when I picked it up. I had to add windshield wiper fluid to it and oil was at 40%. The guy at the desk, Logan, I believe, didnt do a checkout walk around to make sure the car was OK at checkout. Same guy, didnt do a walk around to make sure things were OK at check-in. A little customer service goes along way.

2022-08-08We had reservations for a car rental with part of it being paid in advance. We arrived and our credit card was scanned and we were told that it did not match the one on our reservation. We gave them a different card and they told us that was not the correct card and we were locked out of the system because you only get two attempts. What?? This is not stated anywhere on the website. We were informed that we would be unable to rent a vehicle that day and that no one could help us. We were told we were to call customer service about getting a refund but in the meanwhile we had vacation plans. We called customer service proceeded to explain what happened and were transferred several times thus having to repeat what happened several times. Eventually, we had to make new reservations for a car rental, pay more and the original money was refunded to the our card. The original card was the first card we had given the representative. We ended up leaving 2 hours later than planned and paid more than planned. Absolutely, a horrible experience.

2022-08-16As a tourist i had booked a 12 day rental and prepaid using my foreign credit card and the agreement came through. I had an urgent travel on the day of rental car pick up. However the staff in this location wouldnt issue a car because of my foreign license. Policy says it is allowed. I had to ring budget and go to airport and rent a car. Very rude wouldnt even look up the policy. This review is for this location. People like this are spoling company reputation.

2022-01-18Very bad experience and at all costs avoid this location. Booked a 7 seater.1. Pick up time 8 AM. The guy opened the facility at 8:15AM. No apology whatsoever. Heard they had opened the facility late even the day before.2. Masks are mandatory to enter. However, the guy behind the counter had no mask on and did not care.3. When inquired about my reservation, there was no 7 seater and he cant help. This was just a ridiculous answer. I had a confirmed reservation and made bookings to be at an event and had a long drive.4. Guy behind the counter asks me to drive around and find another car at another budget location. such a bad customer service.Will advise to never book at this facility. Bad customer service

2021-06-02Reserved a standard SUV that was prepaid for, arrived at 8am when they opened and they didnt have any SUVs. They attempted to give me a sedan instead, told them I needed an SUV for the amount of people & luggage Id be taking. They said they were trying to source SUVs from other Budget locations and theyd give me a call back as soon as they got one in, said they should have one in an hour. After an hour and a half of waiting, I called back and they said one was on the way and that it should be there in 45 minutes. I followed up after another hour of waiting and they said the driver bringing the SUV got sick and they werent sure when theyd have one. At this point it was an hour away from when they closed and I was already way behind schedule, so I canceled and refunded it. Fortunately Enterprise was able to accommodate me last minute, Id recommend looking there first.

2021-05-05I should have read the reviews....I am taking my Mother on a trip for Mothers Day and decided to rent a Luxury Vehicle - something we could comfortably drive and enjoy. I prepaid the car thinking that would make the check in process much easier. On their site they advertise some really nice luxury vehicles so I thought we were set. When I arrived I was told they didnt have any luxury vehicles and that I would be getting something from their Premium line or I could rent the Dodge Ram they had in the parking lot. Yep....going to get my 78 yr old mother in a Dodge Ram. Come on dude! When I questioned why they didnt let me know that the rental I paid for was unavailable he said that sometimes things like this happen and you should just roll with it....WHAT? Im sorry first off please do not tell me to just roll with it when I prepaid for a vehicle and wasnt event given the courtesy of a simple phone call. And second....Dont tell me to roll with it! What kind of customer service answer is that?? I took the Premium car which was a Passat....hmf...premium my (expletive rhymes with lass). They said it was clean and they expected it back in the same condition. I got in the car and it was FILTHY. What happened to Covid sterilizing? Or just making it NOT sticky. Of course on top of that someone had smoked in it and it reeked! They also said it was is great condition with no body marks. The front right fender was scraped around the entire edge. My husband took it back and got a refund. Dont waste your time on this place. Here I am....no rental for the trip. Will never use Budget again. Will be canceling our Corporate account as well.

2021-09-25I reserved a 12 passenger van 2 months in advance. They called an hour before to cancel. We rented it to get to a wedding. Of course no other options were available with such short notice. Wish Id read the reviews but I booked through Costco.

2021-01-25Reserved a car to drive to our nephews wedding. Arrived in plenty of time to get the car and be at the wedding early. We learned, when my husband arrived there, that the person submitting the credit card HAD to be present. We live five minutes away. They refused to keep the store open even ten minutes late so my husband could come get our son. He even offered him $20 and explained the importance of getting the car. I will NEVER rent from there or any Budget ever again.

I had picked up the car about 1/2 of gas left in it but the agreement said full tank Also In my agreement they have added additional price for the Insurance which I already have and I denied at the time of pick. Unfortunately I didnt checked much at the time of pick as i was in hurry. These guys are fraud please dont book any car from there.
