Doesn’t matter when you make a reservation, it doesn’t count for jack diddly squat. Made my reservation early May for an August 12th move, and when I called them a week prior to Aug 12th, they had no clue of my upcoming reservation and said that “it is solely my responsibility to continually follow up over the last several months to see if they can get a truck and that I need to always ensure I have back up reservations with other companies”.Will never use budget again as the customer service and lack of ownership for their screwup has lost my trust. Now I see why paying $1,000 more for Uhaul or Penske is worth it.
Reserved a rental online. Came to pick up but they didn’t have one avail. Jumped through hoops for a rental. The workers have terrible customer service employees drive the rentals. I do not recommend. Just pay more and go somewhere else where at least you’ll receive better customer service.
Highly don’t recommend this location I went there this morning to Rent a car the women instantly had an attitude asked us to back away from the deck but there’s no wait here sign asked to speak to the manager the male instantly comes out with an attitude also, told me they didn’t need my business was just instantly disrespect off the start! This is the Wilmington location in Kettering
Well never book with this location, probably not Budget again. Woman was extremely rude. Cigarette lighter did not work for our car charger. When I picked up car started to leave, tire pressure for one of the tires was 20 lb. Windshield was so filthy it took us half an hour to clean it when we got home. Delayed our trip leaving. Charged us $136 extra to pick up the car the afternoon before. Very very dissatisfied with Budget
Showed up this morning to pick up our truck rental, on time. There was a worker inside on a day that was 20 degrees outside. They told me that we needed to wait outside although he was inside??Then he said ‘you are not in our computer for a pick up for a truck today. I showed him my reservation confirmation on my email and it clearly showed, Sunday Jan 31, 2020 at 9am.
The gentleman who rented me the car was kind and helpful. when I returned the car, there was a minimal amount of hair (dog hair) on the back seat. The woman receiving the car said there would be a $450 fine because the hair was difficult to remove. She would not let the worker vacuum the car, nor would she allow me to vacuum it there. She made me drive the car home to clean off the hair. It took 30 seconds with a simple handheld vacuum. The driving was 20 minutes of wasted time and gas. I returned the car bringing my vacuum and she pointed out individual hairs that I had to remove (I did quickly and easily). This was petty and terrible customer service.
We rented a car from here. I took delivery of the car. While setting out in the morning, I saw that there was a crack in the window. It was in my contract. After 3 months, they took the money for this glass from my account. They didnt refund me. Said he lost my contract. Are you sick? How could a company like Budget Car Rental make such a mistake?
I always have friendly services there, BUT, I have had to call the corporate office twice over 2 different rentals about charges that shouldnt be there. I have rented about 10 cars from there recently for work. One car I rented at 8am on a week day and when I went to return it I found out that they didnt open until 9am that day (weekend) and there was no drop box, so I waited and returned it at exactly 9am. I was charged a late fee and an hour over my time fee, about $50. I called corporate and explained it to them and they refunded me the late fee and HALF of the hour fee, at least I got most of my money back for something that was out of my control. I just recently rented a car and had to extend my rental twice. I was charged $100.91 for the reservation, $111.64 when I extended it. I extended it one more day and then returned it. I was charged $230.23 after I returned it. It had a full tank of gas and everything. So mind you, that is $442 about for a 8 day rental. So I called corporate and they dont even see the $230 charge on their end. I called my bank who assured me that it is a posted charge and not pending. So now I have to email my bank statements to Budget to have them confirm it and refund me the money that can take 3-5 days after they review it. Now, I have never had a problem with customer service with the woman and man that work there. They have always been extremely nice to me, I have no idea who is at fault for the charges so I do not want to say anything bad about the employees. But this is freaking ridiculous.
I had a reservation there and our experience started off good, the young lady who assisted us had great customer service. When my sister and i left with the vehicle we noticed a sound coming from the tire area definitely not something you want to deal with getting on the highway so we returned the suv. The young lady was understanding and trying to get us something else thats when this guy comes in and she explains to him that we heard a Knock while driving. His whole demeanor was off and he tells her to give us the vehicle he just brought in. He then takes the car we returned around the corner returned and comes in so unprofessional saying what you heard was not a knock but something with the tire..... ummmmm ok but you heard the noise we heard though. We kept our cool and said nothing but Never Again. To the young lady who originally helped us thank you. Will Not Return and will not recommend this location
Do you know how to spot when a ratchet strap is broken? Would you know how to double check for a leak in your power steering? Can you attach a trailer with confidence? If your answer to any of those questions was no, then don’t expect to get any sort of support from Budget’s staff. Yes, they’re affordable, but I wouldn’t recommend Budget (and this location) for a cross country move. If you or your partner is overly comfortable with trailers and even trucks in general, then great- but tell them to bring their tool kit along because you’ll probably end up having to fix stuff before leaving their lot.We ordered our truck and trailer a month in advance, with expectation to pick up our truck and trailer at the 3rd street location in Columbus. They called the night before to let us know that there was no trailer for us and that we had to go to Dayton to pick it up. There was virtually no communication with both branches, and the Dayton location said that they “didn’t have enough time to perform a quality check of the trailer- that Columbus location had reserved the trailer for us before we were ready to rent it.”Staff here is friendly, but they don’t have the expertise to check for quality assurance. Quite frankly, they don’t even perform a proper walk around of the vehicle you’re taking off their lot.
I would have rated less if I could. If youre ever getting a moving truck DO NOT use budget. They will reserve you a truck even when they know it doesnt run. Then they will blame you and apologize that they cant help. The customer service reps. were rude and apparently unable to do their jobs. All they did was transfer us to other customer service reps and when I finally got in contact with a supervisor she told me, and I kid you not that she does not care about their customers and that we should go somewhere else. She was one of the most rude and inconsiderate people I have ever talked to. If I can save you the trouble of ruining your moving deadline because they are uncapable and uncaring then im glad Ive help. Have a good day and good luck
The representative was super nice, but unfortunately the truck we rented was broken, which Im glad she discovered and disclosed before we took it off the lot. However, it made me apprehensive about renting a truck from them in the future, for sure. Luckily, they didnt have another truck available anyway, so we went and grabbed a u-haul.
Woman at Kettering location on Wilmington Pike not very friendly at all, would either go to another location or company rather than deal with her. Poor customer service. She was very short and dry. If she doesnt like her job she should quit, people dont deserve to be treated like that. I was a paying customer.
The transaction process was quick and painless. The car I reserved was not available and got upgraded at no extra cost. My only complaint is the guy at the counter was all by himself. It was a bit of a wait, but he did a great job managing multiple customers a remained professional.
I prepaid for a vehicle last night online for pickup at this location. When I arrived, they had absolutely no cars available. I was told to visit another location about 15 minutes away, and for a possibly higher price. Lesson learned, call ahead next time. At least Budget Corporate was willing to give me an instant and full refund.
We had to wait 3 hours past our scheduled time to receive our rental car. It was not cleaned and had a terrible film on the windshield that made it difficult to see out of. We had to go to the car wash and also scrub the windshield. This was a luxury vehicle and did not feel luxury
Because Budget always has friendly staff to help. Because it is fairly easy to rent through it; and having a FastBreak number, I enjoy the perks which accompany that particular service feature. I love how there are Budgets throughout the area, so if a location close to me is fully booked, I can always depend on being routed to another fairly nearby center.
Owners were extremely rude. I have NEVER been treated the way I was by someone who runs a business. Told them I would never rent from her again and she said “that’s fine”. Was on FaceTime with her husband who was yelling in the background about his employees so loud I could not hear the lady checking me out. I would not recommend renting through this location
I hate having to write poor reviews for any business but I feel duty bound after my experience with Budget Car Rental, 1900 Stroop Road. By means of background, I have been using Budget the last several years for my Reserve duty. This year (15-28 OCT), I was upgraded to a black Malibu because the compact wasnt available- fine, no problem. After getting the vehicle, I did a cursory glance and I noticed there was a light colored, chalky stain in the front passenger side of the vehicle and that the front tires were really low on tread (didnt realize how low until I drove the entire 5 hours back in the rain and multiple instances of brief hydroplaning on the interstate). Later, I noticed that I had a $25 charge on my credit card statement (in addition to amount I prepaid). I called customer service- they informed me it’s a cleaning charge but are insistent that I should call the local store. I called multiple times the following morning but after no response and the number forwarding to customer service, I physically went to explain the situation. The associate could not help me as the owner was not in the office- I gave my phone number for her to follow up (and did not hear anything so I went back in to the office the next day. Below is an accounting of that encounter.First off, I get there are people in this world that leave other peoples stuff trashed. I don’t respect people like that. That is not me!!! The owner said there was food everywhere on the seats and a food stain? I didnt even have food in the backseat! Complaint #1- not very specific! They say they would not have charged the cleaning fee unless it was really bad, unless it was disgusting... and yet, it ends up being a he said/she said... well, we wouldnt have documented it if it werent there. There is no benefit of the doubt for the customer (a repeat customer no less with no record of extra cleaning fees). They told me if youre a regular customer, you should know what the rules are. They asked, Did you bring it back the way you found it? No, I didnt- is that requirement? No, it isn’t and they said as much. I absolutely and unequivocally reject the notion that the car was brought back in a disgusting fashion.Three things stick out to me. 1. The degree to which there is no benefit of the doubt. The tires were probably borderline illegal. I told the lady when I returned the car about this. Oversight- it happens... but shouldnt benefit of the doubt go both ways? 2. The utter lack of responsibility that this business takes. When I mentioned the tires, they came at me all aggressive like- well, you should of this and you should of that. Isnt it your job to provide a safe, functioning car? The owner even said (and Im paraphrasing here)- were basically just a conduit. We take in the cars and sent out the cars. 3. It astonishes me, that as a business they dont document these “disgusting” clean ups with pictures- real evidence. General, written documentation is nothing more than he said/she said. Your general description isnt proof in something as subjective as cleanliness.The owner was willing to take $25 off my next rental in the next year as long as I bring in a business card signed by her. Despite this location being close to me personally, I probably will not use them again. I simply don’t trust them. The owner couldnt do a refund because the system wouldnt allow her. I should make mention that I’ve had nothing poor to say in previous encounters until this one.-Jason
To start with, if you reserve online, they do not make it clear at all that they will charge another $100 holding fee when you pick up the car. Not only that, I made one reservation that was $150. They charged me for THREE reservations so I had $450 come out of my account and then they wanted another $100 holding fee. This means I have had $550 come out of my account to rent one car for 4 days! The inside rep couldnt help and had no empathy. Finally got a hold of them on the phone and they are refunding but of course it will take 3-5 business days before I get the extra $300 back for the other two reservations that I did NOT make. AC was off in the store so you sit there and sweat the whole time you are waiting for a customer service rep. I would never make a reservation with this company ever again.
DONT USE THIS LOCATION !!!POOR SERVICE!!I was at this location on 07/8/2018.I reserved a premium vehicle several months in advance.Arrived at 9am I had NO vehicleNO empathyNO professional serviceWas told call customer service and see what they can do. I dont know what to tell ya.This employee was rude.Offered me a pickup truck for my 7 day vacation with my 80 year young Mother.No A/C in the building several fans and the door propped open.He never reaproached me moved on to another customer.Did I mention the bearded gentleman had on cargo shorts T shirt that said levi and gym shoes. No effort to make it right for us.WILL NEVER GO TO THIS LOCATION AGAIN!!!!!
First of all the vehicle I reserved was a 5 passenger vehicle, what I got was not really a 5 passenger vehicle (Missibishi Outlander). It will fit 4 adults and maybe a small child between them in the back, but we ended up having to use one of the rear fold down seats in the very back that displaced our luggage storage area, and since there are no luggage racks and I was told they dont allow them that wasnt an option to put our stuff. Behind the third row seat there is only about 1.5 feet of space to put maybe a book bag, but not much else. I tried to post pictures to show my situation, but there is no way to do it and the Rental owner must be manipulatimg the system to exclude them and negative posts. I put something on here two weeks ago, but it is not there, so I am reposting.. Note there is only one picture on this site and no others. We were very cramped on our trip, but at the time I got home and realized our situation it was after 6 pm the Friday I picked up the vehicle and the only options were to make due, wait till the morning go back to see if there was a larger vehicle, or go to the Dayton Airport which is open till 1 am but over 45 min one way to see if they had a larger vehicle (not guaranteed, extra cost and airport tax). I called their national number and talked to a Kevin at one point, but he still could not tell me what exact vehicles were available only the class that showed in the system. When I made a reservation, I was told a Jeep Grand Cherokee, but the email said Ford Edge 4DR/5PSGR or similar. That is fine as long as it really fits 5 people (not just small kids) with luggage. I have a picture with my teenage daughter in the very back which shows you the ridiculousness of the situation which also requires lowering the center seat to get back there or go through the rear hatch. We made due, but this is not what I requested and didnt really match my requirement. My original estimate was $501.34 total for 10 days and the final total is at $580.67 which included a late fee and an additional day charged. We did return it after 6 pm on Monday, but it was fueled up, clean inside and ready to go for the next morning. I called and told the lady (Octavia?) that actually answered the phone that I would not get back before 6 pm and didnt want to push it. If I knew I would get charged both, I could have just returned it by 5pm the next day and not the night before. I would like to know if it was re-rented out the morning of July 10th. I also see a pending charge of $79.33 from Budget and not sure why, but hope it expires.For all the reasons given abive and the fact that 90% of the time you try to call the local Budget/AVIS rental car facility they dont answer and it goes to the national phone number is the reason for my low rating. I dont often go out of my way and normally only give good reviews, but this needs to be out there for others to see.. The lack of getting a local person to talk to is the case for the Dayton, OH Wilmington Pike and the other nearby Kettering, OH Stroop Rd locations. It is frustrating to not be able to talk to someone that can tell you what vehicles are at their location, to answer your questions etc.
The lady who runs this budget truck rental place has a serious profanity issue. Her husband ALSO works here.. Nice man!! He gets 5 stars.. If it wasnt for the fact that she went off on him in front of me, and two other customers I wouldnt even have noticed her. She yelled at him inside, and then outside. Also, I then find out the person I was with waiting in the car watched her come outside to wash a car and she cussed LOUDLY the ENTIRE time. I will NEVER RENT from budget truck again. I got the truck from rude people... dropped it off with rude people. Check your employees Budget Truck! PS- GET A DIVORCE SHES TERRIBLE.
Not happy with budget car rental at all. We had a reservation and the car wasnt ready for us and they said if we wanted it now we could take it as is from the last user or wait until the detail guy could get to it. I dont normally rent from budget,. And I probably wont again.

2022-06-28We received great customer service. Due to a flight delay we were going to arrive about 15 minutes after they closed but Dorian stayed late for us to make sure we were able to stick to the rest of our travel plans. He was extremely helpful and easy to work with and we were very appreciative of his flexibility!

2022-08-17When I arrived to pick up the car I reserved 5 days earlier, the woman was unable to confirm my reservation, then tried to charge me twice, and did not have the booster seat I paid for. She was rude and unprofessional. We ended up just leaving.Went to Enterprise and had a much better experience; not only was the rental less expensive, the employees are friendly and knowledgeable, and the reservation, pickup, and drop off were hassle free.Tl;dr: Skip it and go to Enterprise.

2022-06-05Our first time renting with them and everything went very well. We booked through Expedia and needed to add an extra day. The local agent was very helpful and made sure our rate was extended. Quick and easy pick-up and drop off. Insurance is a bit pricey but the cheaper rental made it a comparable overall price to bigger national companies. We will rent from them again.

2022-06-19The people that work at this Budget location are great. They are very friendly and make you feel like know you from the minute you walk in the door. The process is always very quick and easy, but if you need some extra time to ask a question, they will take whatever time that you need. There is a car rental location closer to where I live, but I will never go anywhere other than here.

2022-03-24Today I had to rent a car to attend my mothers funeral. I rented through a third party company that did not fully disclose all of Budgets policies. This resulted in issues that made it so I would not be able to rent the car. The gentleman who helped my family went above and beyond his duties to ensure that we could rent the vehicle and make it to the funeral. His name is Dorian and he is an amazing person. Thank you so much!

2022-08-11I parked their car at a parking meter. When I came back, there was time left and I was getting a ticket. I asked the officer why, and they said that the rental car’s registration was expired. When I returned the car, I let the agent know about the expired registration and the ticket. The worker had no idea what to do about the situation and said he’d have the manager call me. Manager never called. I called the location multiple times and never was able to talk to anyone. Sat on hold for 2 hours with national budget to get told not to worry about the ticket since it was their fault. Now budget is trying to bill me for the ticket.

2022-04-22DO NOT RENT A CAR!!!The workers at budget especially at this location are pretty rude and pathetic. I had a reservation so I called them before picking up the car, they said they were out of the inventory and was not able to give one. This was not the first time this happened, the lady working there was very rude. Even though I asked her whether I could pick up the car at other budget location, she was like that’s not my problem , I can’t help you and you need to figure it out. Then why to allow customers to book a car if they don’t have any. I had a really important work and I had to wait for the car and after all the wait I did not get one. I was very disappointed with their service and hospitality especially the women working over there is really really annoying and don’t know how to deal with customers.

2022-04-22I had to cancel my reservation for couple times in one week just because they said the cars are not available. I am not sure why they say that as I see there are lot of cars sitting outside always. I had to cancel all my plans for my weekend and also I would like to add that there cars are really not that great at all. So finally I would like say please book your car in budget rental but don’t book at this location because you’ll feel bad at the end.

2022-06-18We rent a car regularly and this is the first one with the Budget Rental car. Today, they have a lot of execuses and saying thing that a lot of hot air, are they think we dont not know the difference? I would not go back to this Wilmington Pike Location ever again!!! Extremely Poor customer services!!!! Especially Dawn. Her attitude and body language are coming through; I needed paper to write down reservation #, she refused to give to me; seriously? Rude is one thing; she is killing your business. There were customer before us, who tried to understand her, Dawn displaced a dismissal and tried to force---without even trying to understanding the customer. She appeared to have experienced of dismissing the customer by gaslighting us. She should not be put at the customer services or a front desk; she needs to get more train on this one. Respectfully!
