Buca di Beppo Italian Restaurant in other cities:
I frequently come here and get take out and the majority of the time my food is fresh and ready when I get there.A few weeks ago I picked up and the lasagna was more dry than the desert and bread was hard as a rock.I spoke to Coco, who I believe is the GM, who made the entire order over again plus threw in dessert. She’s also supposed to give me a refund on top of that. I’d say she more than made up for it.If you have a concern, calmly call Coco and she will more than take care of you. This place is great to come to before an event at Nationwide or to get an order to go. The meal deals are the best value!
The food was amazing 😋. Just a heads up, if you have never ate here, the servings are for a group of people. We were going to a Blue Jackets game so we were not able to take leftovers to the arena. We had the fettuccine alfredo with chicken and it really impressed my picky hubby. The layout of the restaurant was different but we enjoyed that areas were separated! We enjoyed the fact that we were in our own little room with just like 3 other tables. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are a pasta lover :)
Wonderful service! The appetizers and salad were great, but I wasn’t overly impressed with the stuffed shells entree. It definitely was not a portion large enough for three people (as the small family-style) portion denotes. I wish they’d design a lunch menu that’s more wallet-friendly. The three of us (two adults, one child) with an appetizer, salad, one small entree, and a kid’s meal was $100 with tip. It was yummy, but for lunch, it was way too much.
Portion description was probably a little off (we ordered what they’d say is for 8 people and had no issue eating it all with only 5 of us) but everything tasted good. We started off with the bruschetta, which had quite large cuts of tomato that don’t easily pile in the thin bread slices and the balsamic tended to sink straight to the bottom of the glass. Our group of 5 got the large lasagna and small chicken parm for dinner. Some in our group felt that the lasagna could’ve used more meat, but I’m a cheese guy so it was no issue for me. The 3 pieces of chicken were MASSIVE We were surprised when the chicken parm wasn’t served on pasta, but there ended up being just enough to feed us all. (Although the menu didn’t list pasta as a part of the meal, it seems standard to us🤷) for desert I ordered the Chocolate Chip Cannoli and didn’t observe that this was a shareable dessert - you get 3 btw - but still managed to scarf them all down. The decor is phenomenal and adds to the experience.
Generous portions, but horribly expensive for the quality. Alfredo sauce had no flavor at all, making for a pasta dish that tasted like water. Marinara given with the bread tasted like unseasoned tomato sauce, straight from a can. Youll get full, but that doesnt mean its enjoyable.
When they say family size, they mean a family of eight people will get filled up on one of their large bowls. The bread with the side of olive oil and balsamic vinegar was delicious. And so was the spaghetti with meat sauce. The appetizer was fried mozzarella but it wasnt in a stick form they were in little triangles a cheesy goodness.
Food wise, super disappointed. At a new job and my team asks to go somewhere, I choose here and it was so disappointing. The only reason I am giving a decent rating is because the waitress, Amanda, was great at her job. Hostess was good too. The food; appetizers which was the trio platter was just ok, but dropping the ball on the fried foods would be sad. The Chicken Marsala was not good. Super bland and the chicken not fresh. The same for for the spicy chicken rigatoni - sauce is bland, not spicy, and chicken tasted frozen not fresh. The fettuccine Alfredo was so bland too, it tasted liked buttered noodles. I know it was you Buca. You broke my heart! You broke my heart!
Went to celebrate hubbys bday. Food was decent, sad that after they said hubby would get free dessert for his birthday they then came back and told us they were all out of ice cream. Didnt offer anything else, no happy Birthday even.We ordered the cheese ravioli with meat sauce and the garlic cheese bread.
We were seated nearly 30 minutes after our reservation even though the restaurant was basically empty. Our waitress was clearly under the influence of drugs. After the meal management acknowledged that they were aware the waitress under the influence of some sort of drug and did nothing other than offer an apology. The experience was a 0 out of 10
Reservations for a 50th birthday party Unfortunately, at 6:00 during the Arnold and a concert, they were out of food. No bread, chicken, stuffed pasta dishes or salad dressing. The menu was limited to basic dishes which didnt have enough sauce. Service was good. A lot of apologies for lack of food. Wouldnt go back to this location. Not prepared for the events.
Walked in for lunch..no hostess at the stand. Eventually she came around and sat me. 5 minutes later and no server had stopped by so the hostess took my order out of pity. The bread was not fresh, bordering on stale and the salmon was saturated in oil and was devoid of taste and/or flavor. Broccoli was severely undercooked. To top it off, the server brought me someone elses check at the end.Its impressive how TERRIBLE every aspect of this experience was. Honestly, it was embarrassing how bad it was. Whoever is managing this place, checked out YEARS ago. Please, please, please avoid.
Family in town we went there for dinner...it was late around 8ish! We had a good time! Service was medium to slow not very busy but there were other groups and couples there one room.was full. Food was great as usual...we had the meat balls, spaghetti marinara, bruschetta, trio- mozzarella triangles, calamari, and spicy hot shrimp...all.of this was great..fresh and tasty! I had the elderberry punch...it as very good! If you like sweet...get it! I recommend a stop into buca and prepare to share!!
Came to this location after monster jam and was disappointed!! The food was cold and the chicken was hardly done..our server was literally no help at all when ordering for our family! Do not come to this location go to Cincinnati the service is so much better and the food is so much better and cooked!! Terrible disappointed.
Food was disappointing. Not flavorful. Very bland. Chicken parm was not cooked enough to make it fried. The service was OK, but I didnt like that she handed everything to me to pass around the table. Ordered too much food because we didnt have a picture or idea of what the serving was.Sangria didnt have enough alcohol in it. A carafe didnt even give me a happy buzz. Lol. Very sweet. No fruit in it. How do you call it sangria without fruit fermenting in the batch? The server acted like getting more bread was a sin to ask for. It was cold and difficult to pull apart. 😕Biggest complaint is lack of parking, or even knowing where to park! If you decide to go, call ahead and ask which garage validates. Then parking is only $3. We found that out after the fact. One last gripe. Do NOT order the birthday sundae. Its a huge glass filed with a little Debbie brownie, scoop of ice cream, tons of whipped cream and sprinkles. We never said we wanted the sundae but somehow the server thought I did. It was $17 of disappointment. Then, there were no bowls to give us so she gave us side plates. Wth!Wont go back ever.
My family and I drove up to Columbus half way from each city. We didnt realize there was a hockey game so all the streets around the restaurant were closed off. Which isnt the fault. We have always gone to Buca di Beppo even when we are on vacation. I have worked in restaurants for 16 years so I know service and management. When we walked in, the hostess lady was rude to everyone from the beginning. The food was tasteless and our server was hardly at our table. We had stacks of plates and trash, etc. That didnt get picked up until our dinner came. We had no room since my dad spilled his water on me when the server came by to drop our dinner. There was no room. The table should be cleared off before dinner comes. Service was slow. We sat down around 8:20 pm and we were there after close due to the slow service. The server never checked in to see if our beverages were low or how everything was tasting including picking up dishware/glassware/bottles that we finished. We ordered food and it took over 50 minutes to get to the table after we ordered when appetizers were on the table. Service is about keeping an eye on your table and also glance to see if anyone needs refills. When we cashed out, that is when I saw our server in a room with other servers doing nothing. Some were trying to cash out but others were there just to talk. We spent a lot of money. We got 3 bottles of wine, appetizers and two meals for a party of 7 so our bill was over $200 dollars. My family and I agreed we wont go there anymore. We all have been there and it was the worst experience ever. I saw our server the most while at the beginning getting drink orders and after that, MIA. I didnt want to get involved with a manager since my toddler was already restless and tired. Also, the food was cold and I am assuming it was sitting in the window waiting to be delivered.
This is my Girlfriends favorite restaurant so she took me here for my first time and was horrible. Server was not vert attentive and had to ask for things multiple times before she brought them to the table. She only had 4 tables and 1 was on desserts so she didn’t look very busy. She made us feel like it was an inconvenience to her for us being there. We ordered and got the food and for what we paid for the food wasn’t that good. Spaghetti with Meatballs hardly had any sauce. The Chicken limone had no sauce. Brussel sprouts were the best part. We order the Colossal brownie for dessert. We had a couple bites of ice cream then I start digging for the brownie which there was none. Ask the waitress and she said “its supposed to have a brownie in it. I can ask and see what happened”. She also told us her other table had a problem with that also.??? Waitress came back and informs us they are out of brownies. I worked in the service industry for 10 year and if your out of something they shouldn’t make it. I call the next day and spoke to the manager. Tell him my experience. He informs me yes they were out of brownie but they substituted a piece of cake. No cake was in my dessert either or we wouldn’t be having this conversation. The manager also sounded like it was an inconvenience for him to be talking to me. He did give us a full refund but I will not be returning.Update 3/29/22. Our visit was 3/19/22 and 10 days later still no refund. Just another example of how the business is.
Never again ! This is criminal what you guys have done with the trays it has “Shrunk” tremendously! I was surprised to see what was given for $75.00 ! Also maybe not enough people working because the takeout order we had asked for extra sauce and when arrived home it was not placed in the bag! I guess we will have to go to Olive Garden they seemed to take care of their patrons!
We had a great time at Buca di Beppo. We had a group of eight and our waitress took care of us as best she could. There were at least 100 high schoolers there for prom dinner so things were a little hectic. We didnt mind at all and it was great to see everyone having so much fun. Once the prom crowds left it was very relaxed. The food was great. I love the Chicken Limone and the ravioli the most. Remember to get a full order of the cheese sticks (theyre triangles) as they are the bomb. Enjoyed a carafe of the house red.The kids got the ice cream sundae dessert and wow! It was enough for everyone to get a couple bites of sweetness. Thanks for a fun evening Buca!
I arrived to pick up my order for lunch, there was no hostess. I waited over 10 minutes when I finally went looking for my food on my own. I ordered the individual Chicken parmesan it had absolutely no flavor, was extremely watery. They didnt give me everything I ordered. It was disgusting I will never eat here again. zero stars in my book.
Went to pick up Mr. Beast burgers at this location. We drove up an hour on a date to pick these up, and the order was messed up 3 times. We ordered a Beast style, a Nashville chicken sandwich, a Karls deluxe, two beast fries and two drinks. We placed our order for pickup two days in advance. We waited about 10-15 minutes after pickup time to get our order. They gave us extra fries, burned the Karls deluxe sandwich, and one box just had chicken tenders instead of chicken sandwich! We went back in to get the chicken tenders fixed, which took another 10-15 minutes. After that, we started to eat all the food, and the Karls deluxe sandwich was missing toppings 😔. We went back in again, waited another 5-10 minutes to have that sandwich fixed, and we left. We had to pay extra to extend our parking meter and the entire experience to get our food right took an hour past our original pickup time. My boyfriend and I couldnt even really eat our full meal at the same time because the food was needing fixed constantly. After we left, I opened the remade Karls deluxe, and the bun wasnt right! Im really not trying to be nitpicky but it was just a huge hassle, Mr. Beast burgers arent really cheap ($30+ for two people), and it really wasnt an enjoyable experience. The staff were SO apologetic and more than kind, but really we just wanted our food to be right and wished for that wait and wrong food 3 times, they would have partially comped us or something.
Gotta love when you wait over an hour for your delivery just for it to be completely incorrect. Ordered lasagna so my son and I could share, received chicken parmesan which he couldnt eat and I didnt ask for. Our Mozzarella garlic bread wasnt toasted at all, missing butter and that had slabs of cheese melted on top. They just didnt care SMH
I love Buca Di Beppo but I did not like this location at all.I ordered a the Spicy Chicken Rigatoni through GrubHub. I noticed and saw that there was little to no sauce. On the menu the color of the dish was a reddish/ orange but the dish I received was in white sauce. Despite the sauce and how different it tasted from the last time I had this dish. I choose to try the chicken and I regretted it instantly. The chicken tasted fake.. it tasted raw, chewy and feathery. The previous time I choose to have a different dish( Baked Ziti) And even that did not taste like anything I have had before from the place.Maybe it is because I choose to order delivery (GrubHub) but still I did not appreciate this action at all.As I stated, I love Buca Di Beppo and enjoy there food a lot! but this experience was awful. I am so disappointed.
I quite like the place. We went on a Wednesday night and it was wide open. Food was good if a touch expensive. Our server was quite personable, but took their time getting back to the table time and time again, on a very not busy night.Overall I enjoyed it, just felt the experience was a little expensive.
Everyone should go to Buca in downtown Columbus!!!! The GM Coco and Natalie made our day!!!! It was Angies birthday and they treated the two of us like we were the most important people on the planet! Of course the lasagna, salad, and chocolate cake were amazing but the people who work here make it a special place for everyone!
We went to celebrate my birthday. It was a wonderful, tasty experience enjoyed by all. From the antipasto salad to the colossal brownie sundae they gifted me for my birthday, everything was delicious. Our server Hannah was fun, engaging and knowledgeable! Definitely worth the trip to Columbus!
We going to a con and decided to eat here at the end of the week. Some of us are still in Cosplay. They refused to set us because they said the whole entire restaurant was book. So we decided to have it to go. But my friends went to the bathroom and noticed that there was no one in the whole entire restaurant. Then we went to the convention center to eat our food and notice that the food was not up to par. The chicken alfredo shrimp did not have any sauce on it salad did not have anything in it and it was like $15 are mushroom caps or cold and our garlic cheese bread was not melted I try to say that once you take things out to go it doesnt stay good for long but it was an only five minute block from where we were at. Can we call them to try to get it fixed they were not very cooperative and try to say that we could not get our money back even though we had not eat any of the food. So we packed everything up and took it back and they did refund us and there still was no one in the restaurant and then I overheard one of the waitress said that theyre busy Rush had ended 30 minutes ago and that she would be going home soon. The manager said even though that restaurant was booked up you could not sit us in one of the seats where the person has not shown up because of their system. I work at a restaurant and I know that if they dont show up within 30 minutes the we can the next person. And I also saw them set two people. I will never be going to this restaurant ever again.
This is the one in the Columbus Arena. Huge resturant! We didnt realize that they serve family style servings. Dont go on a couples date unless all youre ordering are drinks and appetizers or bringing another couple. The serving sizes were enormous! Michlle was our server tonight 8-9-2019. She was great! We enjoyed everything that she recommended.
Great quality Italian food! However, when ordering carry out, make sure you check everything before heading home. We had a mishap but Buca di Beppo sincerely apologized and made it right. Thanks to them taking that action, I will continue to be a happy customer!Update!...My last carry out order I didn’t check my ordered items before leaving. I was chased down from leaving the building by the man that gave me my food saying “hey, wait! I gave you someone else’s carry out order!” And for this, I am taking my 4/5 star rating down to 3/5. And I wasn’t impressed with the half pound meatball. Sauce was great, but the meatball itself lacked flavor.
At first I thought its weird that the only portion sizes are 3 person or 5 person - I do not like sharing my food! But they are not actually that big, can easily eat a 3 person item yourself (or take leftovers). I really liked my stuffed shells and Brussels sprouts. Service was really fast despite the place (and its a huge place) seemingly being very busy.
(Bad)No soup ,(fad)Best fettuccine ever , (overpriced) ,$20 small bowl mac n cheese bites.we wanted reg. mac n cheese not bites. The birthday dessert was (Spectacular) the brownie sundaes. the good the bad and the ugly. Will go back for fettuccine for sure. Hope it is the same. What Italian restaurant does not have wedding soup. Or any soup all the time.
Took my sweet heart here for valentines. We had an amazing time. I was able to come in and preset the table for her. Manager and waiters were very nice as well. A family atmosphere. Definately a place to check out. Im pleased. And its hard to please me. Lol thank you everyone. ❤👍
The place is super nice to visit. It is like italian restaurant museum. I am not that fun of italian food, so to me the food was ok. I order pizza for my kids and it was like tortilla.. pretty bad. We went in the afternoon, so it was perfect to me because I was with my two kids, but apparently this place gets super busy since they asked if we had reservations.
If youre in Columbus and you dont go here youve really missed out on something. If you are even within a few hours of Columbus you need to get down here. Make sure to wear your stretchy pants because you are getting a lot of fantastic food! I could go on at length here but suffice to say that our group ordered 6 or 7 different items and then dessert and everything was top shelf taste and quality.
Food was MEH and our waiter couldnt do MATH. Like seriously. He couldnt figure out how to split family style eight ways on four cards with the two alcohol drinks put on the appropriate cards. Not rocket science. And after chatting with him during dinner, it wasnt because he was new either. Yowza.
A little restaurant with a lot of personality. Staff was friendly and we were seated quickly. The food is served in HUGE portions, so make sure to grab the whole family! We started off with the trio appetizer. We chose the spicy shrimp (excellent), artichoke dip (also excellent), and the fried calamari (terrible, tasted like plain fried flour). We also ordered the short rib orecchiette (it was ok. It didnt have any onion or tomatoes and very little meat and mushrooms) and the shrimp florentine (it was ok too, just need a bit more sauce). To finish we had the brownie Sunday, it was HUGE and tasted excellent. All in all I would try them again. Maybe there was a new cook?
Oh boy... this place. I’m visiting Columbus, OH on business. I intermittent fast and eat one meal a day for weight management purposes. This place was not even on my radar this visit. I only say that because I want to eat at the Brazilian Steakhouse a block from here. With that being said, there was also a concert going on in which this area was incredibly busy, no restaurant had any seating for just 1 person and tried multiple.Someone suggested that I try Buca do Beppo. So I walked over and they were busy, but they were able to seat me within 10 mins or so after telling me it would be about 45mins, I was going to wait it out. I’ve never been to a family style Italian restaurant before as the waitress is explaining this to me, I thought to myself, “I got this... I haven’t eaten all day and the servings can’t be that big...” Mistake #1. OMG the spaghetti was huge and I ordered a side of Italian sausage too. It was worth it, but sadly, I couldn’t finish it and ended up wasting it because I was flying home the next day. If I’m ever back in Columbus, I’ll bring my family so we can conquer that bowl of spaghetti.
The food is great and portions are very big! I really liked our waiter, but I didn’t have a good experience with the reservation. I used google to make a reservation, then called to change the #. The lady hung up on me. The. I called again, someone told me they fully booked! I already had a reservation, so I called the next day and modified it. When we got there, no one wanted to take care of our table. And they were fighting in our faces!!! It’s definitely not a friendly place.
We came in literally 20 min before close (we should have checked the hours beforehand that was our bad) and they seated us almost right away and took our order without giving us any fuss. The waitress was extremely nice along with all the other staff despite us coming in right before close. They didnt make us feel rushed at all and the food came out perfectly. Over all the food was great and tasted fresh even though it was the very end of the night and all the staff was welcoming and friendly. Definitely recommend coming here!
You will NOT be able to find this place via Google maps and you will NOT get a table there without a reservation which they didnt even honor prior to the pandemic. I will NOT be back to this location due to two bad experiences in a row now. If you must eat at Buca Di Beppo, do yourself a favor and go to the one in Worthington where you can actually get a table and dont have to pay for parking for apparently no reason since we were denied service...
Buca is awesome! I love this location in particular because its downtown, but its a little insane after a hockey game so keep that in mind. The portion sizes are huge, the staff is great and has lots of energy, the drinks and food are amazing. And every Buca has really interesting photos and art everywhere. Well go back again, but preferably when theres not a hockey game!
This has been one of my worst experiences in Columbus. Tonight I was greeted by a server named Natalie , while she was pleasant she was awful. It’s been a long time since I had to leave a review because I normally do not like to bash or put a restaurant down because it’s hard work but it cost 0$ to be a server interested in making sure your guest are satisfied during the dining experience for the small amount of money we spent I would have even given her more than she deserved but she dropped the ball and maybe she’s having a bad night but that’s no excuse! The food was ok real big portions and that was ok. But the garlic cheesy bread came out and wasn’t even fresh it was Luke warm I cannot believe in this economy where we are spending more and everything is higher than normal that this is how we are being treated! Natalie also asked numerous times if my son needed a refill on his drink and never received it. I know it was about 7:30pm when we walked in and it’s the end of the night but if your tired you probably shouldn’t be serving to end this Natalie even put in a new order of garlic bread a fresh set and came back to the table twice and says she doesn’t know where the garlic bread went after all she never put in the order because when she went to the kitchen she realized they never made it! Congratulations this is how your night will look if you choose buca. I was better off flying to Boston where I’m from and going to little Italy for the amount I paid tonight for horrible food and service corporate will be hearing from me because I work hard for my money!
Hot food was cold upon arrival. Salad was wilted and warm with lettuce hearts in the mix. One dressing for a family salad. Chicken Parm was soggy. Garlic bread was underdone. And one of the cake slices was missing. I would love a refund or an attemp for them to make this right.
Dirty dirty dirty carpets were black with smashed in food..Spaghetti had no taste what so ever. Bread was hard as a rock with 2 little pats of butter for whole thing. Waitstaff barely checked on us. Had to catch them walking by. Totally disappointed by everything I had heard about them. Guess will continue to go to Spaghetti Warehouse.
The service was too good! We made a reservation for 4 people for Thanksgiving at noon. We got there at 11, like an hour early and planned on sitting at the bar to wait on our other guest. When we came in they asked to verify our reservation and its great they did because for some reason my reservation did not show in their system, not there fault as when I went back and checked opentable it was not listed there either although I had a screenshot of the confirmation.Anyways they were able to seat us but it had to be immediately even tho the other half of our party was 15 minutes out. We sat down and waited on the other 2 in our party. The waitress came and explained the Thanksgiving dinner special and asked if we wanted to put the order in so it was ready when they got there.Im not kidding when I say within the next 5 minutes they brought out our drinks, bread, the appetizer, and our entire meal, almost all at once! When the meal came out our server looked as shocked as we were.I explained to the women bringing it from the kitchen we had just got the appetizer and were still waiting on guest to which she replyed, you order it you get it. In order to fit it all on the table she had to unset the plate settings of our guest yet to arive...By the time our guest arrived which was only 10 minutes later, and we were able to eat the appetizer and dive into the food, which ofcourse was all cold. Our waitress was nice enough to offer to take it back to the kitchen and have it reheated, which we did with some of the items but they were busy and it was a lot to ask to reheat the entire meal. All in all I feel like while we technically got everything we were looking for no one there really listened to what we were saying and just pushed us thru as fast as possable.
Due to the pandemic its understandable for restaurants to be out of certain things! This restaurant is 50 feet from nationwide arena! Common sense Says on days the jackets have a home game there will be alot of customers coming for dinner before going to the game! They were out of straws! Pepsi was unavailable until we complained! Our party had 14 people for a birthday party an the service was poor! Youd think management would put experienced wait staff on a party of 14 people! In the past we have had phenomenal service! This visit is 1 I hope to soon forget!
This is my familys favorite restaurant to gather together at! The food is always delicious and the atmosphere is warm and loving. The staff members are always friendly and make us feel welcomed. I also love the quirky pictures and decor all over the walls throughout the restaurant. Its a family style restaurant so whatever you order will be enough to feed a bunch of people (We always have leftovers 😋). Just a great place all around. I highly recommend.
TLDR; Do NOT go here, especially on a date! Save yourself some money by going to the store and buying 2 cans of Spaghetti Os and a pack of frozen Texas toast, then eat it in your own basement for a better dining experience. For context, my family takes pride in their Italian heritage and Ive been to a lot of Italian restaurants in my time.I have heard good things about Buca di Beppo restaurant--namely their Italian grandmothers basement extended family dinner style and had reasonably high expectations because Italian grandmothers, especially those who have restaurants inspired by them, make good food right? WRONG.I went here on a date with my girlfriend this week and got the classic spaghetti and meatballs with cheesy garlic bread to start. Their portions come in one of two sizes, the smallest of which feed 3 people. So right off the bat, if youre coming here on a date, youre paying for an extra 3rd plate whether you like it or not. I knew this ahead of time and heard it was a good place, so I didnt mind spending a little extra per plate just to experience the restaurant and have the great tasting, home style cooking they have there. The only problem was, THERE WASNT ANY GREAT TASTING, HOME STYLE COOKING. The spaghetti and meatballs were the worst Ive ever had at a restaurant before. The meatballs had some bland, cheap, a little repulsive flavor, and together with the spaghetti sauce, it tasted oddly similar to canned Spaghetti Os.It didnt help that the waiter was a little odd and a waitress was asking him Who decided to put carpet on the floor of a restaurant? Red Robin doesnt even have this much of their floor carpeted. while she was bent over scrubbing the floor. What? All that is to say, the service and ambiance didnt make up for the poor food quality.Pros:- Great location- Good theme idea- Memorable decorationsCons:- Relatively expensive, especially compared to quality- Cheap tasting, unseasoned food- Inconsistent service based on what Ive read from other reviews and my own experienceConclusion:- Would NOT recommend for anyone with a wallet or functioning taste buds
Ate here with my wife on a busy Friday night. The server was great. The food was average compared to other Bucas we have dined in. Im willing to overlook this. When we were sat we waited over 10 minutes and I had to approach a hostess to get a server to come to our table. We were ignored by other servers working at the tables surrounding us.
Had an amazing time here, went for our anniversary and it was over all amazing we enjoyed the food and the experience but we definitely enjoyed our server/bar tender Travis, he made our night and our anniversary so enjoyable and he had amazing customer service, thank you Travis truly from the both of us. We truly appreciate you and the experience you gave to us, it was amazing.
The food was great. I have been here a few times and it always is good service and food. It is fairly dark in the restaurant but that is part of their atmosphere. They always take new people on a short tour of the facilities on the way to their table. The place is very large and you could easily get lost in it if it werent for the helpful staff. They have a great selection of Italian food and you can take a date here for a nice date experience.
We love Buca Di Pepo! My family and I ate dinner here last Friday night (1-17-2020). The food was excellent. I had the Shrimp De Diavolo. It was delicious! The dish was very flavorful and the red pepper flakes have it a good kick. I love the downtown location as well.
Have to say people must go for the ambiance, unless the cook was having a bad day! The food was Horrible. We ordered chicken Parmesan and I could barely swallow the 3 pieces I ate. Not sure what the taste was exactly, the only thing I can think of is.. embalming fluid. I have smelled this, so I imagine the chicken Parmesan is what it would taste like. Waste of money, never going back. The iced tea and cosmopolitan was 👍
I don’t even know where to start. The short grey haired manager was probably the worst of the complaints. He didn’t care to accommodate our needs at all. Then when he finally got our food, he asked if we needed anything and when we did, he acted like it was wrong of us to ask for ranch and crushed red peppers.35$ pizza was frozen pizza quality. Absolute most over priced pizza that I’ve ever had for its quality. I swear it was a frozen tombstone pizza. It wasn’t our first time going. Last time, the spaghetti that we ordered had about 1/3 the amount of sauce that we needed. After asking for more sauce, the flavor was very bland and low quality. Salad was iceberg lettuce with diced veggies. Nothing special to the flavor what so ever. Lowest quality food for way too high of a price and horrible management.PS.... BLAND, bland, bland. ALSO, EVEN IF THEY TRIED TO REMEDY OUR EXPERIENCE BY GIVING US A FREE MEAL, WE WOULDNT EVEN COME BACK TO REDEEM IT.
Waited 1.5 hrs for a party of 4. Was told 1 hour wait time. Then was told itll be another 5 minutes every half hour after. while they kept seating parties of 10. Will not be back and will not recommend this location ever. Do better people. There was half of the restaurant empty and still was told itll be awhile.
I was a bit disappointed in the overall taste of the food. For being itialian the food was pretty bmind. We got a shrimp Alfredo and it was just a cream sauce. The lettuce in our salad was brown and the server did not make very many trips back. Said she was double booked and I understand to a point but there was times she didnt come over at all. I had heard good things about this from friends and would like to give another try and possibly change my kind.
Went to Buca tonight before a concert.I haven’t visited one in a few years…Our server Amanda P was not only excellent at wine pairing, (we secretly tested her knowledge.) She was on point with her input. We didn’t have a huge party and she helped us choose the perfect amount of food for our group. The restaurant could use some improvements…the food could be better, BUT ask for Amanda P, and I promise you will have a great experience! She is funny and engaging! She made us feel like we were dining in her home as friends! We love you Amanda!
0 stars. I got ravioli pasta, it was bland at best and the sauce was watery and not great. We got a side of sausage and got 3 links for $13. Got 2 deserts for $31, they were big, but bad. The chocolate cake was super dry with Hersheys flavor if your into it. I threw it straight into the trash. The other was a tiramisu. All you can taste is cream with a hint of coffee. The bread was much of the same. The best flavor out of anything was the regular butter i put on the bread. $67 + $10 tip and I regret every cent. This was my second time in 3 years and I wont have a third.
Our server Dottie seamed overwhelmed. It took about 18 mins to get a water order in. The spaghetti and meatballs had no flavor and barely any sauce. I typically have a good experience. We spent $175 and Fazollis would have been a better choice. No need to reply the generic thank you for taking the time to review and will be communicating the review to management. How about...we will do something about it since the average table spends too much money for less than mediocre food.
The service was great! Everyone I encountered was very friendly and helpful. The meatballs, which I had been CRAVING all week, and had not had in several years were the worst ever. Dry, burnt and flavorless. The marinara was not burned but it was flavorless it really sucked, it was like it just went from the can to the pan I dont think Ill be returning.
If you enjoy bad tasting food and spending an absurd amount of money to get it then this is your place. I spent $65 for trash. I never leave reviews but this place really ticked me off. I should have known it was terrible when I asked the woman on the phone what she recommended a d her actual response was I dont eat the food here. I should have listened to that warning and moved on. My wife and I got a classic, spaghetti and meatballs and it was awful. Dont worry though, we also got the mozzarella sticks which complimented the spaghetti by being soggy and bland and for dessert we spent $15.50 for what we were told was a rather large slice of double dark chocolate cake. It was far from large, which in the end I suppose was a good thing considering it tasted like it wasnt even cooked. Just an all around terrible experience, so thank you Buca di Beppo for wasting my time, money, and anniversary dinner.
Atmosphere was great, tons of history on the walls & things to talk about, but the food, while being large, was disappointing & flavorless. The cheesy garlic bread tasted just down right bad. Almost like they had used expired cheese. This was my first time, but both of the others with me who had been there multiple times said the food had never been bad before so maybe I will have to try again.
The two stars are solely for the food, the service was absolutely underwhelming, we had to move our food ourselves when we requested to change tables because we a party if 6 were sat right next to the exit door while the restaurant was more than half empty. And they have this curious practice of charging you a standard gratuity so you have no choice about how much you tip. Wouldnt come here again if I have a choice.
A big group of us went here, after the viewing for my step grandfather. There were adults and several young children. A reservation was called ahead. This IS the place to go, if you want Good Italian food! We were back in an area, where the children wouldnt bother anyone and enjoyed our meal and the service was great! Its right outside of the doors to Nationwide Arena..tucked into a corner...but definitely a place to check out!
Our server was fantastic. However, the worst margarita Ive ever had, only drank 3 sips. What a waste of money. Or food was less than par. Everything was dry. Or fettuccine needed much more sauce and so did the shrimp and pasta was just dry. Well probably never go there again.
Lets start with a waitress who doesnt know the menu, doesnt know the wine list or what is a red or white. Or how about the changes in the menu. 5 pieces of chicken parm with a little red gravy, no pasta, no dinner bread. A waitress who kept asking every 5 minutes if we were ready to order. Just was a disappointment in dining. Never again. Will go to a local and not a bucca chain.
I came here after my daughter wedding yesterday and, everything was very tasteless. Ive never paid $25 for calamari. It was tasteless, every drink I ordered tasted like pure lemon juice( Margarita n the lemon drop) that red sauce given with everything... Tasteless. Oh the mash potatoes were heavily salted (share the salt with the other dishes) . I left on a empty stomach n out of 40$ I was not impressed.
Service was slow. We waited 15 minutes before our server noticed us. Fried mozzarella was burnt. Our salad was soggy from sitting so long before they brought to us. They brought the salad after our entrees. We were there for 2 hours and the majority of that time was spent waiting. Normally our experience is great. Today was not and its surprising because they werent busy.
Our server was young pretty much forgot about us and drinks. We sat sharing a water for almost 20 min. The food was a great portion. But bring some seasonings cause to me the white sauce like alfredo was very bland. Once I went home and added seasoning it turned amazing. Will go back to try some red sauce dish.
Worst service ever! Had to get my own water from the bar, couldnt even get the bartender to make us more drinks when the waiter was too busy to take our order. All the manager did was make excuses as to why their service was so poor and understaffed while standing behind the bar not offering to make drinks. Wont trust them with an anniversary ever again!
Went in for lunch. Took ten minutes to sit us down. Took ten minutes to get our drinks. Then our waitress finally took our drink order and then tried to walk away like uhm we are ready to order. Nobody is even in here but everything takes so long. No straws for our drinks and we are in a pandemic. Everyone just on their phones just hanging around not really doing anything. And they sat us in the back like we didnt matter. Food was amazing though.
This is hands down my top choice as a sit down Italian restaurant. Service is always fast , friendly and accurate. Buca does a great job keeping in touch and advertising specials. Went tonight to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. Purchased the spaghetti and meatballs and will have enough for most of the week. The garden greens salad is excellent. Dont forget to take your leftovers home.
One of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. I am not sure what was going on at the restaurant, but it was definitely not my typical Buca di Beppo experience. This trip was more like dining at my local pizza take out, then eating at grandmas. It will be a long while before I try it again.
What happened ? Server was not familiar with the wines, Ceasar salad had way too much dressing and entree had very little gravy on it. Had to ask server several times to remove empty plates from our table. Realize it is hard getting help now but consistency is the key.
AMAZING SERVICE!! TRAVIS IS THE BEST.. Ive said it once and Ill say it again, serving sizes in Columbus are HUMONGOUS.. we ate so much that Im still full and today is Monday.. we ate there Saturday night.. lolol.. no but for real. The food is great. The salad...DIVINE..! I had the Chicken Lemone.. it was soooooooo good..!!
Edir*** For the record, before j posted this review, I did fill out the contact form on the website and requested a call back. After posting the review, I was asked to fill it out again. They should go back and find my original contact form.Food was delicious as expected, but server was extremely unprofessional, flat out lied, admitted that he lied, did nothing to correct it and even smiled about it. I had a coupon for $20 off a $40 purchase. We sat down and I showed the server my coupon and how it listed exclusions. There was a meal package we wanted and I specifically asked if the coupon could be used because it said excludes bundles, but this was listed as a package. He walked away and when he came back, he said We are firing on all cylinders. I asked if this meant Yes, I could use the coupon? and he said Yes. Our meal came, we ate and it was very good. When it came time to pay, he came over and asked for our coupon number. When he came back, he said the coupon didnt work because it was excluded. I told him I asked ahead of time and we wouldve gotten something different if he wouldve said it was excluded. I had no problem if the answer was no, I just purposely asked ahead of time to help us decide. He acted like he knew it would never work and gave a half sorry and an oh well. We had to go to the Blue Jackets game so I couldnt ask for a manager there. I contacted someone via the website and heard nothing back. We had planned to come 4 more times before hockey games this season, but we probably wont be going back. We were very disappointed in the service.
Morgan was the ABSOLUTE BEST server and bartender!! I’ve been to Buca a few times recently and I had the pleasure of sitting in her section this time. My last visit was almost my last because the last waitress was, for lack of better terms, clueless and kind of rude. We decided to try again and I’ll definitely be returning and asking for Morgan! Keep her around Buca, you got a gem!
Food was very bland, our service was extremely slow which was surprising with how empty the place was. The facilities were dirty and unkempt. All in all just a bad experience which is sad because it has so much potential. The price does not match the quality. Exuberant prices for a lackluster product.
We were a party of 4 and wanted to try a lot of different things. Had the lasagna, spaghetti with meatballs, fettuccini, fried cheese and garlic bread with cheese. We had plenty to take home. The spaghetti was light on the tomato sauce. The fettuccini was covered in Alfredo. Dinner was good. They do validate parking if you are at the connected garage.
Brought out of town family here. Made a reservation ahead of time, yet when we got there we were taken to the darkest, dirtiest corner of the restaurant in a crowded space meant for half of the number in our party. When we asked to move to the patio, they put as at a dirty table for 4 for our party of 6. The host picked up old dishes and didn’t even clean it before seating us. Had to use a baby wipe to clean the table myself so my daughter could eat.
Ordered a tiramisu to go after reading reviews regarding how good it was. Unfortunately, upon arrival, I was given the wrong to-go order. When I brought this to their attention, they proceeded to inform me that my order was not ready. After finally receiving my order, I was quite disappointed in what I had waited for—the tiramisu was extremely dry. Would not recommend.
1 word....EXPENSIVE! Yes, I now realize you should only go there with at least 3 people...not exactly customer friendly with that philosophy, but it was only my daughter and myself in town. We got 1 drink a piece, shared a salad and entree...with tip....$80!!! WOWI know Columbus is expensive, thats fine, I learned my lesson. Our entree was below average quality so that really makes it hard to swallow (no pun intended). So this girl will go back to Olive Garden for free endless salad and breadsticks....because honestly, Ive had much better food there for half the price.
Buca di Beppo is an interesting restaurant with a unique setup. The place is huge, and its pretty easy to get a table or seat at the bar unless its a really busy time. The food is portioned for multiple people (like a small is supposed to serve 2-3 and a large serves 4-5 people). So its definitely not a place for dining alone. They have pretty good Italian food (somewhat comparable to a place like Olive Garden in my opinion). The service is generally pretty good. Ive been to this chain a few separate times. I havent been blown away but I havent been disappointed either. I do notice that the dishes seem to come out lukewarm, so they are room temperature very quickly. Overall a good place!
Enjoyed night with friends and if unfamiliar with buca they offer family style feed 5 or small feed 3 people. So bring friends and order differently and share. We had among 8 salad very good zesty dressing with lettuce, kalamata olives purple onion, and peppers huge bowl. We ordered fettuccini alfredo with chicken, spaghetti in marinara, egg plant parm, and meat balls all very good lots left over which our friends took out to the streets and handed out on their way home. Its absolutely worth a try in columbus our server was awesome and timely. Everyone left full and a lot of people were fed. Thanks buca
If I could post without giving any stars this, place would not have any ... We made reservations... Waited to be seated almost an hour after our promised time... The food was horrible... They suck.... Most,of our food was cold ...and what was hot was so watered down it wasnt edible in,total our bill was almost 400 bucks and we .. A family of 8.. Hadnt eaten much of anything...
It was ok. When we entered, we were greeted half heartedly by the lady behind the counter. Seemed mostly uninterested. Then we were asks the same questions by the seater girl before we were seated. But the food was good and the waiter was nice. I think people are getting hired that really do not care about the job. And in a customer service industry, that does not bode well for that company. I hope those employed by restaurants understand that they can make or break that restaurant by their actions on the job.
We are a long time customer and always have been happy with the service. We came in yesterday For Noahs 13th Birthday the staff sang and embarrassed our son very well it was amazing!! But I understand Covid-19 has made everything difficult but if your going to have a reduction in menu selection to your most popular items they better be really good. Your in a basement location and and ask people to scan a QR code for drink and dessert with no cell service and we were never brought any other option. The quality of the pasta flavor tastes like of the shelf of Kroger and the bathrooms were filthy and shoes stuck to the floor when you walked. We will be back but I sure hope you step up your quality and cleanliness I am not driving 1.5 hours for a let down like this again.
Very disappointed. Booked catering months ago to celebrate the Ohio State graduation yesterday with forty people. The food delivery was over two hours late and the chafing dishes and set ups were not provided. We were also shorted on trays of food and errors in what was provided. I called the Columbus location and the manager never even came to the phone. I immediately called their national catering number and the representative was very apologetic and called the Columbus location to request that they drop off the chafing dishes with no success. I am now dealing with corporate for a partial refund.
Food was delicious! Portion sizes were amazing. Our server Mason was very polite and patient with us she got our food to us in a timely manner and the food was still hot. Buca has a fun laid back atmosphere however the downtown location could use a bit of a update.... It looks cluttered and Dusty and the carpet I dont want even want to mention its condition!
The place was really dirty. It is one of those places where as you touch things your hands get sticky. There is lots of visible dirt on the walls and on high touch points. (you can tell for example that the bathroom doors havent been wiped down in a LONG time.) Our table was covered in crumbs from the last people who sat there and also....(you guessed it) sticky. I accidently placed my elbows on the table and when I lifted them, it pulled the table cloth up revealing an even dirtier table underneath. (Yuck.) As I walked around my shoes got sticky and started to stick to the floor where I had to physically pull them up. The carpet is visiblly filthy. The booth we sat in was....(you guessed it) sticky and covered in crumbs. BUT...we were out as a family trying to have a special night, so we tried our best to ignore all of that.NEXT---They were also out of a lot of things. First, they were out of chocolate milk. Then they were out of calamari. Then they were out of the type of salad we wanted.NEXT--we ordered the chicken parmesan and as soon as we all bit into it, we knew that something was very wrong. It smelled off like it has gone bad. Or it may have been that the breading they were using was old and dirty...or maybe the oil it was fried in? I dont know. But it was so off tasting that it even made the pasta it was lying on taste off. And it was one of those smells that you cant shake or get rid off long afterwards. We sent it back and they made us a new batch. It didnt taste rotten...but it was also off. (This is why I am wondering if the oil is old and needs changed out. Or maybe the kitchen is just as dirty as where they sat us? I dont know.).On a plus side, our waiter was very nice.
This place is a amazing place to eat and have an all around great time. The servers are nice and treat you as if you were family. They all work together to make sure everyone is happy. The food is timed so you dont get everything all at once. Speaking of the food, it is DELIGHTFUL! Perfectly cooked pasta with just the right amount of seasoning. You gotta remember the portions are huge so order carefully or clear out some room in the fridge for leftovers!
The portion sizes are always nice, and the atmosphere is great. Ive been to several Buucas in Indy and they have much better quality of food. Our manicotti here came out barely hot, and we ordered the rum punch bowl, and there was debris floating at the bottom of it. Im not sure why, and especially being so close to the arena with tons of foot traffic, but the standards at this restaurant have really slipped.
OK I had a weird experience in my opinion.. because the food was good, the staff was great, they were polite and courteous and fast... However it was strange because Ive never been to a restaurant that has the pricing that they have and receive as little as we did. No bread, no salads, we werent even offered any to buy. However it was even more strange because Ive never been to a restaurant that has the pricing that they have and receive as little as we did. No bread no salads we werent even offered any For purchase. The big thing was we ordered chicken parmesan and we ended up receiving 3 pieces of chicken and thats it... so there was no spaghetti there was no bread there is no salads there was just nothing else but 3 pieces of chicken so to me that was really weird because Ive never experienced anything like that. So they were good as far as the food goes the manager did bring me some spaghetti to put with my chicken parmesan so they did try to make it right I just feel that for the price it is not worth that I you dont get your moneys worth.
Yes it’s a chain. Yes it’s your standard chain Italian food. But! It’s actually pretty good and definitely much better than Olive Garden. The prices are steep for single portions but are fair when you order for the whole table. Overall, a decent place for corporate meetings with fussy non-adventurous eaters.
Food is decent here but with all the design and marketing effort obviously put into the whole experience I would expect better. Most of my recent experiences have been in the bar because of needing to eat quickly and not wanting to wait for a table. Maybe this affects the service but it has been slow and not very friendly. I also think its a poor choice to only offer family size meals. There is quite literally no way to order a regular entree at Buca. Overall disappointing. I would only visit if Im allowing my kids to choose where we eat.
This is one of the best restaurants Ive ever visited. I went with 8 other family members and most of them purchased alcohol. The waiter remembered everyones drink and always asked if they would like another one. The food was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Everything came out quickly and the atmosphere was like nothing Ive ever felt. Even though there was a concert right next door, which we were going to as well, they still had no problem seating us and keeping an orderly and quick service. I cant wait to go back in the future!
Will Not Visit Again!!! I visited the Front Street Bucca di Beppo on 7/25. A couple of days later I found out that my bill was updated to include an extra/unauthorized $10 tip. I called BdB to report the issue and request my money back. I spoke to Derrick who took down my information and promised to look into the matter and call me back. I waited but nothing. Four days later, I called again, he told me that he has put in the request, to expect a refund on my card within five business days. No refund! On 8/9, I called for the 3rd time after 6pm and spoke to Koko. She was nice and said that she will call the corporate mgr to find out if the refund was processed and get back with me. She called a few minutes later to inform me that the manager was in route back to California and that she would talk to him the next day and let me know what is going on. She added that I would receive a gift card via email for the trouble. I gave her my email and up to now 5 days later, I have not heard from anyone regarding the matter or the e-gift card. Very disappointed in location!
Went with colleagues after evening intertainment. Food ok, kinda bland entrees. Appitizers decent. Server had to come to our table numerous times to complete a simple drink order. However, they were very curteous and generally friendly. Decorations ALL over the place. A little overwhelming at times. I would recommend it. At least as a place to try.
This is the best Italian restaurant Ive ever been to. The service is amazing as well as the food and you get your moneys worth when it comes to the food. The portions are typically are big for the price. We had dinner for two and got full off of a small pizza and mozzarella sticks. Our server Daniel was amazing. If your looking for q good restaurant to eat at, this would be the place.

2021-10-30Had an awesome time here with the family! Yeah, the pasta is lacking seasoning but the entire table needs to eat. They leave salt and pepper at the table to bring it to your taste. Really recommend this place and the pesto was straight delicious! We dipped our bread in it.

2021-08-20We enjoyed our visit on so many levels! The food was delicious and we had plenty to take with us to enjoy later. The drinks from the bar were tasty. But the star of the show really was our server, Thomas. He was pretty busy and still provided great suggestions on our meal, multiple refills on our water, additional bread, and just all around fabulous service. His smile and care made our experience even better.

2022-04-24Travis, the bartender, provided me with the BEST service I’ve ever had. He was personable, kind, and made wonderful drinks. He has set the bar for food service everywhere. He made me and my boyfriend have the best lunch following our blue jackets game. Will definitely come back for his service! Food was great too ☺️

2022-06-10Awful experience! Sharing a meal with partner and we order the spaghetti with meatballs (which comes with traditional marinara sauce, according to the menu), but put the meatballs on the side as Im vegetarian. While waiting for our food, two other servers are talking so incredibly loudly amongst themselves while cleaning tables so that my partner and I couldnt hold a conversation in what was otherwise an empty room with no other guests! Server brings out spaghetti with MEAT sauce and meatballs on the side. We assume everything is good but after tasting the sauce we realize the mistake and tried to call the server back. When I confusingly ask if the traditional spaghetti and meatballs comes with meat sauce, server just said I dont know and walks off (absolutely no acknowledgement if something could be wrong). Eventually Im able to get the server again (while theyre rushing around doing other things) and request the order to be fixed. Once our meaty pasta was replaced with the correct order, food was good and things felt better. However, once the bill came, we were charged for the spaghetti with meat sauce (wrong order) and the meatballs on the side as a separate item! Expecting to pay about $33, we were instead charged $50. When addressing this with the server, they explained that there was no way to put in an order to just put meat on the side so they did the cheaper spaghetti option and the meatballs on the side as a separate charge. Incredibly frustrating being overcharged for a $33 incorrect meal simply cause we asked for the meat on the side. As someone who usually loves Buca with family, I was incredibly disappointed with the lack of care this time on what was supposed to be a casual, stress-free date.

2022-04-19We had not eaten at buca since we moved from Atlanta 2 years ago. Our expectations were high. The delivery was not. We ordered an appetizer that was amazing 3 years ago. This time it left us flat. The service was decent but not exemplary. Entrees were good but not as good as the price we paid. The last time we ate there we got more food for $30 less. I understand inflation but I expected more for what I paid. Probably won’t go back.

2022-06-20Great Food and a very friendly staff. The atmosphere and decor is welcoming. Our food came out pretty quickly. We joined their E-club a few years back and received birthday gifts such as a slice of cake with purchase or a deal with a free colossal brownie sundae. All portions are big so beware! It costs to park in the Marconi parking garage but if you show them the ticket you will get a discount to the cheapest rate (3 dollars for me). This place is worth the visit for a family outing or dinner date. Will be returning in the future! 🥰

2022-06-28Food was burnt and unedible. Lasagna was a 2 inch by 2 inch square. Called them to try and get it made right and the manager refused to speak to me.

2022-06-03Family style ordering but they divided our check for us since we were all on business trip. Service was acceptable but wait for food was a little long. House loaves of bread were given to us though for long wait. Lots of cool memorabilia and photos on the wall. Well worth the trip downtown!!
