Branch in other cities:
Branch was great. It looks nice inside with a long bar on one side and a long bench on the opposite side where tables & chairs were set up mostly for 2-4 people. However, we had a large group of 8, which they easily accommodated. The shareables were enough for at least two and the entrees were enough for the biggest appetites (in fact there was hardly room for any of the great desserts). A lot of nice touches with the service (for example letting us know the count of how many were left of high demand specials so we could put those orders in sooner rather than waiting until after our appetizers when they mightve been gone). That was for dinner, but I look forward to going back, because I heard they have a really great brunch as well.
We had an amazing dinner with wine pairings. From homemade burrata to house made ravioli and NY strip to dessert it was coursed perfectly and the wine pairings were on point. Sabrina was amazing at all points guiding us. Matt at the bar made a killer cocktail. This is the most underrated restaurant in Cincy.
My family and I had the loveliest brunch at Branch last weekend. So many restaurants are struggling right now so we want to support local and somewhat expect staffing / other challenges, but Branch delivered well above expectations. Amazing food, good staff, kind to our kids and doggie, and the best meal out weve had in 18 months. We also were able to eat outside and having a family member with health challenges we very much approved their focus on safety. Highly recommend!
I came in on Sunday for dinner with friends and had a great time. The dining room is absolutely lovely and our server, Shane, took wonderful care of us. With 6 people at the table, we shared a few entrees, snacks and sides. The salmon and the scallops were perfect and we all left very satisfied. Will be back soon!
I finally had the pleasure of dining at Branch a few weeks ago for dinner, even though I had been eyeing it since it opened. I loved my experience- one of the best I’ve had in Cincinnati, and this was during the pandemic! The space is open and comfortable, the cocktails strong and reasonably priced, and the food was wonderful! I considered it elevated yet unpretentious and the pricing was very reasonable compared to other casual upscale establishments around Cincinnati. I thought the service was great, although it wasn’t very busy the night I visited so I can’t speak to what it would be like during peak hours/days. It is wonderful to see such a place in East Walnut Hills! I can’t wait to try brunch or explore the downstairs bar!
It may have been a good place but Google Maps said it was like a Repeal Steakhouse or Union 50. They had limited food options for our group that was comprised with a vegetarian, a person who only eats fish or chicken and the others being beef eaters. Staff was friendly and understanding. We did not eat at this establishment.
Really impressed. Cool architecture and unconventional room setup. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options to share, all very well prepared. Entrees are also in top form. To top it off, a smart wine list that leans on the modern side without being overbearing and managing to offer something for most palates. Desserts could have been better. Overall great food and great experience.
The atmosphere and food was just out of this world! I have never been asked how I’d like my salmon cooked before but luckily my waiter was very knowledgeable and suggested I get it medium. This salmon / meal was so good I nearly teared up!The waiter was very knowledgeable about the building and the owners, it was a pleasure learning about the place.Excellent first impression, can’t wait to go again!
We enjoyed ourselves for over 3 hours at this wonderful resturaunt. The service was outstanding weather that be their knowledge of the menu or recommendations. They were spot on. The food was amazing especially for the price! Very affordable night out celebrating my girlfriends birthday with a few friends. I absolutely love the tie in with the bank names to the drink and food menu it adds a original twist you dont get many other places. Always a great time when Great Lakes is on tap as well! Being from Cleveland its great to be able to try their new stuff even in Cincinnati.Thank you for a great night and we will definitely be back
Ive been wanting to go to this restaurant every since I went to their cocktail bar in the basement Night Drop when it first opened. We waited to go to the restaurant due to it being brand new.So I finally decided Valentines Date night was the right idea.. The ambiance is pretty sweet considering it was an old bank. I was upset from the beginning due to their prefix menu for Valentines day, but that changed as soon as I tried to the scallops (they were amazing). My wife ordered the risotto, which typically she loves.. but she didnt finish hers. The entrees were decent with the duck and bison. The bison was so so due that half was cooked medium rare and the other half was over cooked. The desserts were typical restaurant desserts being just ok.Overall, the prefix menu was decent at best. My favorite aspect of the night was my scallops and the cocktail I ordered. The service was good, but not great. The chef has a creative menu and mind, but lacked overall consistency on this specific night. However, my biggest complainant was that the food took FOREVER to come out as if the staff wasnt prepared for a major restaurant holiday. The staff could have kindly let every table know that the kitchen was behind. Our reservations were at 8pm and we left the restaurant at 10:45, for a table of two thats quite long.
This is a wonderful restaurant in the heart of East Walnut Hills. The food features interesting flavor combinations, but everything was fantastic. Their ribs were juicy and fall off the bone. I also had their crab cake special for an appetizer and it was quite great. Branch also features one of the better cocktail menus in the city and if you are gin drinker this is the place to come. The only place I think Branch could improve is their decor as the space feels a bit bare. I very much look forward to my next visit.
My family chose and visited Branch to celebrate my daughters birthday and a belated Fathers Day. We were looking forward to a great dinner. On a positive note, the restaurant was cool, and parking was convenient. The food was OK. Portions were small albeit pricey. Shareables arent. The service was abysmal. Almost everyone seemed cold and aloof. We really thought that our server might have been having a crisis of some kind. He appeared to be on the verge of breaking into sobs, and despite our attempts to draw him into conversation fled the table quickly and often abruptly. For the four of us, our tab came to about $140, and we left hungry. Hopefully your experience will be better.
Excellent food. Caroline, server, was terrific. Great decor and interesting menu. However, way too loud, impossible to have a conversation. I measured at 70 db. There is a downstairs, serves same menu, does not take reservations, much quieter, 57 db. I would try the downstairs next time but would not go back to the main dining room until they get their sound under control.
Ate with a party of 4 on a Thursday dinner. The building is neat. Its in an old bank and many of the features are still there.Service was good although slightly pretentious.Drink selections were good with a decent selection of craft beers. Had the draft special IPA and it was decent.Had the chickpea salad, fries, mushroom ravioli, cheeseboard and curry cauliflower. All were good although only slightly above average. If there had been some kind of wow factor maybe the prices would be ok but no real wows.
We enjoyed a morning visit to the Art Museum and then went here for lunch. We beat the crowd. The hostess asked if we had reservations. We tried their potato appetizer and the beignet appetizer. We liked the potatoes more than the beignets. My wife and daughter had the club sandwich, very good. I had the Salmon Eggs Benedict. The Salmon Eggs Benedict was a bit saltier than I expected, but it was good. The capers, greens and pickled onion along with the cured salmon is likely the reason. My daughter and I shared a coffee from the drink list, The Foreign Transaction. At first I thought it was just a cappuccino as I didnt get past the foam and nutmeg sprinkled on top, but once you get to the coffee and the liquor, oh my goodness, it was good. I am glad we shared it. I would definitely return. We dont get over there too often. The service was great the ambiance was excellent.
Went for Valentines days with 745 reservations. Seated around 805. Had not been served our main course by 915 so we asked to close out and leave. Oysters were good but that’s all we can attest to as the kitchen seemed way behind and unprepared to handle a holiday. Waitress was nice but it seemed we were waiting for everything far too long. Ruined the evening.
After reading reviews, I was both surprised and disappointed by our evening at Branch. Service was incredibly inconsistent and slow. At such a nice establishment, I couldn’t believe we waited more than 10 minutes to be acknowledged at our table. It took another 15 to place a drink order. The cocktails came out differently each time— the same drink— and with missing garnishments. We watched as our appetizer sat in the window and finally asked another server to bring it over. The food was over cooked. The stars are for the beauty of the space and being a neighborhood restaurant. We do hope it was just an off night considering what we spent overall was not a good reflection on what was received in exchange.
My new favorite brunch spot. They have some of the best customer service Ive received anywhere. It makes it hard to go other places and expect the same service. The food and drinks are always spot on. So yummy! I love the inside of the building too. It has a very clean and historical vibe. I will definitely be coming back to Branch!
Good but need to work on their portion sizes and prices. Spent over $25 after tip and all I got was the french toast and a small drink. The French toast was good, but for the $11 price I was expecting more than just one slice of bread cut in two. Until the portion sizes and prices become more reasonable I doubt Ill be back. Other than that the architecture it beautiful to look at.
Major disappointment. Uncomfortable space, with nearby diners closer than my dinner companion, who could barely hear me over the unnecessarily loud music. Very unpolished service, from fumbling with opening a wine bottle, to not providing a shell bowl for a mussels dish, to not handling the food failure in a professional manner. Which of course was the big problem - the salmon dish was acceptable (not great), but the flank steak was inedible. Tough, stringy, flavorless - nothing positive about it. There are a lot of good restaurants around, and this one will have to make huge improvements to survive. Neither of us will be going back.
The Branch has atmosphere for quiet dinners for those with refined taste. I had scallops with smoked radishes & had a party in my mouth I was not ready for! After dinner we had drinks in the basement and enjoyed different & exquisite drinks served by a master bartender that took pride in his product served with a smile and intelligent conversation. The Branch is my new favorite place.
Okay food, lackluster atmosphere. I went here with several friends for dinner and we ordered a variety of dishes and shared. When the best thing about a dining experience is the butter you put on your bread, its hard to get excited about returning. I found the menu to be confusing, with a variety of international dishes, none of which were authentic, but not fusian either... just cooked in a way that lacked an understanding of flavors. Overall, we all decided the food was just fine. It wasnt offensive, but none of the six of us had plans to return. The decor of the space is downright depressing. There is one picture hanging in the restaurant over the bar, and while the kitchen is open through a small doorway, if youre seated in the back of the narrow restaurant, you end up next to a big gray wall with nothing but white walls and bank lobby chairs to keep you company.
Elegantly prepared, meticulously sourced, and served forth with both friendliness and integrity. The food was delicious, the wine list is thoughtful and thorough, and the cocktails are perfect. The chicken wings were the surprise hit of our table as all four of us enjoyed them with gusto. Dont sleep on the sunchokes - particularly tasty and as primally satisfying as a vegetable could ever be. The charcuterie board was well-presented and hit all of its notes just right. The staff were friendly, attentive, and informative. Shoshanna has built a team and a concept that is brilliantly executed in every regard, and I wish only that I still lived in Cincinnati that I might be able to more frequently return to Branch. Thanks for a wonderful evening.
Let me start off by saying that the food at Branch was amazing.... if only we had been able to also order our main entree. Some friends of ours made a reservation for 8:45 on Friday night to get dinner. We went a little early and we were able to be sat at 8:30 which was great. However, the rest of the night went downhill from there. It took our server 20 minutes to come over and greet us with water. She poured the water and left without asking us if we were ready to put in drink or appetizer orders. She came back another 20 minutes later and took our drink order and again, left without asking if we wanted to put an appetizer order in. She came back with our drinks and finally took our appetizer order. She never came back around to ask us if we wanted to put in a dinner order and when she finally came back to our table to check on us, it was after 10 pm (the restaurant closes at 11). We were in the process of debating to go somewhere else for dinner due to the service, and when she came over and asked us if we were ok, she was very rude and took the menus away and asked us if we were ready for the check. Hope clueless can you be? We ended up deciding to go elsewhere and paid for our appetizers and drinks. I called the next day to speak with a manager about the situation. I spoke with the GM Matt about it and he responded by saying he was sorry for the experience and that he would comp a round of drinks the next time we came in for dinner... In my opinion, that is not an appropriate response for 4 dissatisfied customers who came into your establishment expecting have dinner and had to leave and go elsewhere because your waitstaff didnt find it appropriate to even ask if they wanted to eat dinner.... Needless to say, because of this service, I will not be going back. I dont need a pity compensation of cocktails just to return to your establishment.
Very good chef who knows how to combine flavours and present the dishes. The only thing I missed was espresso coffee at the dessert, but the machine is coming I understand ;). And please, please, please dont ever scrap the wedding cake from your menu it was soo good!!!!

2021-10-14I had dinner here for the first time with my husband and another couple. The original details of the art deco Bank are very cool and its nice to see this beauty preserved. We had a 7:00 p.m. reservation on Saturday evening and we were promptly taken to our table. The hostess did offer outside seating but stated that the last remaining table was under a tree and the mosquitoes were very bad. I appreciated her candor and would suggest that maybe something would be done to protect other patrons from the biting insects. Our server, Michael, was very polite and attentive even though he appeared to be handling a dozen tables on his own. I started with a gin martini and was rather surprised to see an upcharge on the bill when I requested New Amsterdam gin which is typically a mid-level alcohol. As an appetizer my husband and I split the burrata plate. It was presented and served cold with three crisp crostini and bacon bits. The flavor was really delicious. For a main course I ordered the swordfish. It was well prepared and also had some crispy relish on the side that really enhanced the flavors. My husband ordered the lamb chops and we were both really surprised at the small serving he received. While he said they were also good, he was still hungry after the fact. Service ran at a rather slow pace and all of our food came out cold to lukewarm. I am assuming that this is due to lack of servers as I said that our server was handling many tables by himself and food might have been ready faster than he could serve it. It was nice to try something new but nothing impressed me enough to make the trip from my home for a second visit.

2022-01-27Branch has always been good, but the new chef has made it incredible.Every dish on the menu is worth it, and every special has been incredible. The dinner menu covers classics and new takes. The brunch menu is classic but still has fresh takes. I also end up ordering 2 more drinks than I plan to because theyre just that good. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the general manager is always there to say hi.Cannot recommend enough.

2021-08-22I loved coming here for $1 oyster night on Tuesdays but since covid happened, I’m not sure if they still do oyster night. I do love their brunch menu and patio seating. Every table is spaced outdoors. I did the chicken sandwich and loved it. It was tasteful and decently priced! Staff was great as always.

2021-07-31Great food! Salmon was flaky and the seasoning was very unique - I liked it a lot. Fries were solid, nothing incredible but plenty of garlic

2022-06-12Dining at Branch was truly a great experience. You know you have a capable and talented chef when the waiter does not ask you how you’d like your food prepared. The octopus, pork belly, steak, and service were above and beyond expected. We can’t wait to dine again!

2022-06-13We went to the Branch a couple months ago for dinner. Its a nice enough place. It almost seems fancy for the sake of fancy (maybe its just me). The food wasnt bad by any means, but it didnt make us want to come back. Cocktail menu was lackluster. especially when they have Woodburn Brewery and Anju right around the corner with amazing cocktail menus.Nothing was wrong with the experience, we just werent impressed. The night drop bar in the basement is a neat little space

2022-08-19One of my new favorite restaurants in Cincinnati. My husband and I really enjoyed our cocktails and pasta, some of the better pasta we’ve had in the city. We can’t wait to return!

2019-06-01Went to Branch on a whim for brunch recently. We were not sure what to expect but the service was good. We ate on the back patio. I especially liked the candied ginger in the large parfait I ordered. The shrimp and grits was delicious as well. Not sure whats up with the negative reviews on here, the staff was willing to bend over backwards to help us with anything we needed and the food was great!
