I very much enjoy this park. People dont always follow the posted rules, they will bring small children in or unaltered dogs. If you go, please be a decent human and dont set the other dogs up for failure. Do not bring food, small children, or aggressive animals. Otherwise the park is a wonderful trip. The lake is enclosed inside the park with ample room to play, swim, and run. The water is treated and filtered but use your judgment. Animals use the grounds and water as a bathroom on occasion. It is not safe for human use. There are portable toilets on site and an area to rinse off the dogs. There is a small dog area as well, but it does not access the water. There is shade available and places to sit. Definitely bring towels for the ride home!
The space is large and beautiful. Weve always enjoyed our visits. However, after our last visit on 6/24/22, our 1 1/2 year old Burmese was extremely ill after visiting. She drank the water even though we kept telling her not to. It was really hot outside. Im sure she was just cooling down. She threw up blood and couldnt keep down food or water for about 24 hours. This was terrifying. We probably wont be revisiting after our experience.
This place is amazing! Not to big & not to small. Plenty of dogs for mine to play with, good combo of sand, grass, concrete, sun, & shady areas for humans and dogs alike. They also have a rinse off areas so you can rinse your dog off. I highly recommend this dog park. Also, there is a dedicated area for small dogs if you want.
This park is great, I dont go often because its about 40 minutes away but if the weather is nice its a fun outdoor activity. There are always a ton of dogs and they have rinse stations where you hose them down after they play in the lake. A lot of people bring shampoo and towels. Most of the dogs are bigger but there are usually a few smaller dogs too. There are benches and some people bring fold out chairs. Its family friendly, but you get a lot of wet dogs jumping up on you so wear something thats easy to wash.
This place rocks. We brought our puppy here. They have a small gated area and a larger gated area with a lake. They even have a dog wash area we didn’t even know they had. Anyhow too bad it’s not closer or we would be there more. So many different types of dogs show up.
Great place for friendly dogs to socialize! Clean, very socialable enviroment with great energy between dog lovers of all kinds! People are very friendly! There is a section with a beach, sitting areas, a dock, and dog obstacle course, and bathing station. There is also a smaller fenced area for small dogs without access to the beach. You could let your dog run freely but everyone needs to keep an eye out on their own dogs to make sure they dont get in trouble to keep it a good experience. Every once in a while youll have an owner that wont take responsibilty for their dog or its behavior but they are few and far between! Perfect for getting dogs out of the house and let them be dogs! Overall a fantasic place to go! My dog and I love it here!
I took my dog for the first time. She did well off the leash. Most of the big dogs are off leash. It is enclosed and there is a nice walk around the pond. Everyone keeps their hands to themselves. Everyone keeps an eye on their dogs and on your dog too. Some people just go there to let their pets socialize themselves with other animals. Or to have free run in an enclosed space.People forget toys there all the time so there night be a time where you can find a toy to play with your dog.Just a word of cautionDont let your dogs drink the water it is not good for them and wash them off before they go home if they were in the water.
Great park, love taking my dogs here. Always maintained and looks nice. Had one bad experience and been hesitant going now. Just be cautious if you have small dogs in the big area, some people bring their not so friendly/anti-social dog to a dog park, which obviously causes issues.
I enjoyed this parked with my puppy up until today. My puppy Chris is 6 months and on the bigger side not bigger than 35 lbs and not big enough or mature enough to be in the large dog area. A older couple with a smaller dog told me my dog did not belong in the small dog area. Note Chris loves to wrestle hes never been aggressive, never growled or showed any signs of being dangerous to another dog or human. Their dog on the other hand became aggressive to the point the lady asked me to get my dog which I did but instead of her picking up her dog and diffusing the situation she continued to tell me why my dog doesnt belong. While her dog continued to run free as im trying to remove myself and my dog from the situation. My feelings are ultimately hurt as I feel it wasnt just my dog that was the problem as I am a black woman yep I said it!. I no longer feel welcomed. I honestly think that there needs to be an area for Medium size dogs especially for puppies that are bigger. They are left out of the equation of safe space and its not fair. They need a safe space where they can release their puppy energy. I feel this will be an ongoing issue until a middle ground is put into place. I plan on contacting the city of Stow about my concerns. I feel this will benefit everyone and everyone will feel they have a place to be comfortable in this park if they update the park to accommodate EVERYONE.
I’d be happy to change this review in the future, once I’m actually able to take my dogs in the park. We checked multiple websites multiple times to ensure that the park was open. We finally arrived to the park, and there were signs that said the park was closed and to check the Fun in Stow website for updates. Well, get this, when you check the Fun in Stow website, IT SAYS THE PARK IS OPEN. There were at least five other cars with excited dogs that arrived within the four minutes we were in the parking lot. This is a major problem
My dogs love this park. They can run and swim! Thank you for having such a great area for our pups to play and get exercise. Lots of places for us to sit, shade area, lots of sand for them to roll, nice dog washing area when you leave. Bring your own shampoo and towels to wash them.
This place is great for dogs and people. Dogs able to romp around, play in water and enjoy the day. Only complaint, one dog was aggressive. The owner did not seem to care much. Often, he would be on the opposite side of the park. We did leave a little earlier because of their actions.
Bow wow beach is easily the best dog park Ive ever been to. They have a area for small dogs, but more importantly they have the all dogs pond. It is a huge pond fenced in with a beach sround the entire thing. It gives plenty of space for dogs to run, swim, and play. The park is very clean with dog owners respectfully cleaning up after their dogs. You will meet lots of cool people with wonderful dogs. All around a great place that I frequent visit with my pup.
Love taking my dogs here; they have so much fun just running, playing & swimming - just being dogs. I love watching them interact with other dogs without having to have leashes on. Its always clean & everyone seems to be good about cleaning up after their pets & being respectful of the space. I cant keep my lab outta the water here, he even swam across the water to steal a dog toy from the shallows of the other end. I wish more of the dog parks around here had the water available for swimming but its what makes bow wow beach special.
Bow Wow Beach is a bit of a drive for me and my dog but he just loves to run around the lake they have. He does not really like to swim but will go in up to his chest. Overall if is a very nice dog park and we have not had any issues there with other dogs or owners. They have a section specifically for small dogs which is nice and then the larger open area is open to all dogs (even small ones if they want). There are also some dog washing stations there which is very nice because after running around in the water and playing in the sand my Great Dane will be a 140 pound sandy mess. So it is nice to be able to rinse him down then let him dry off before we head home.
What a fun dog park! We loved the large lake, which is good for walking laps around, and the small dog designated space within the park. There is also a small obstacle course area with a tunnel, ramps, and poles and a hoop for jumping. Other visitors generally were friendly and had good park manners. We cant wait until next time!
This is a fantastic dog park! It has a huge lake for the dogs to swim in, obstacle course for you to train and rub your dogs on, and a full run around the lake so you can exercise with your power as well. After you and your furry friends have a great day playing fetch and socializing there are several wash bays so that you can clean up your pets before the ride home. Just remember to bring tennis balls and shampoo with a few towels so that way fun can be hard by your dogs and they can be clean so as not to mess up your vehicle. We highly recommend this amazing dog park for all dogs And their owners. I hope this helps someone out😇
Bow Wow Beach is great fun for the whole family. People can enjoy a nice walk around the sandy beach while the dogs do all the fun dog things. Even during peak times, there is plenty of room for people to social distance. There is also a place to wash your dog off before you head home.
Really nice place to take your dog! We drove an hour to get there but it was definitely worth the drive. Everyone there was friendly and most of the dogs were too! I love that they offer a bathing station so before we left we could rinse off our dog. We definitely will be coming back
My dog LOVES this place! There have only ever been a few issues with dogs (so far, mine hasnt been involved) and in most cases, the owners step in quickly and take care of it. What a fabulous place for dogs to run off the extra energy! The shower stalls for the dogs are definitely a bonus. Happy dog, happy dog owner!
Great park for all dogs! Large enough to not have many issues and keep dogs a good distance from each other when needed. Not a lot of shaded areas for humans so make sure you have sunscreen. Your dog will force you to stay for at least an hour! The port o potties also leave a bit to be desired for humans. Use a restroom elsewhere before you come here if you can!
Love, love, love this dog park. The pups love the ability to get to the water (even though neither of them swim). Its completely free, and is a wonderful bonus to the stow/Munroe falls area. It still has typical dog park issues - people not paying attention to their dogs, but for the most part its awesome. There is also an area for only small dogs.
Great place for dogs to play with other dogs. Most people there are great. Most of the dogs get along great, you do have to be careful though. Some people bring their little dogs into the big dog area and then get upset if your dog wants to play. My dog plays with everyone, loves to chase and wrestle with others. She also loves the water to cool her.
Took my dog here for the first time today and he loved it. Hes not really a fan of water but there was still plenty of space for him to run around and play with the other dogs in the sand and the grass. Theres also a station near the entrance where you can rinse off your dogs which was really great since mine was covered in sand and mud after playing.
Great place--lots of space, great swimming lake for dogs. Like any place it is only as good as the dog owners. Most here seem responsible and watch their dogs. Common sense things like NO people food (picnic tables surround the lake), NO dog treats, NO children in the lake, NO female dogs in heat ,NO aggressive dogs-and obviously PICK UP after your dog. If you can not follow the rules, then dont come here and ruin this wonderful park--it is a gem.
I rated this so highly because the pond is great and the beach is pretty clean AND there are shower stalls for your dog. The whole place is fenced in like a dog park should be so you can let your pup off leash. It was pretty crowded on a Sunday summer afternoon though. Also dont take your dog there if you know it doesnt get along well with others. That is common sense.
We (& our Golden Retriever) love this dog park! It has a pond for swimming, an agility course, a small dock for jumping, and plenty of seating around the pond. Helpful hoses at the exit to rinse off your pup as well. The crowd always seems to be friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend Bow Wow Beach Park for a day out with your favorite dog.
Not only is the Beach a huge and beautiful place to run and swim, but they provide poo bags and cans all around the pond. Theres a lovely mini agility course for the doggo, benches and tables for the humans, and even a place to hose down the pooch. Theres a nice separate area for little dogs. Even the patrons are nice; some dummies bring their small kids (not allowed under 48 I believe) and Ive had one aggressive dog bite my Fungus mildly, but considering how often were there, thats pretty good.Theres a little slot by the entrance for donations. I hope everybody puts a dollar in; I always try to. Its absolutely worth it.
First i shall state by saying i have a hunting dog, its hard to find a place where the fence is high enough that she can not jump over. I Love this park and we have driven a hour just to vist to go their. Its really spacious. The water part is also amazing. Alot of dogs their but if a dog doesnt want to socialize like i said theres tons of space for them to get away if they want.
Bella and I drive about 50 minutes a couple times a week to go here. It is all completely free (with optional but appreciated donation) and very well kept. Most of the pet-parents clean up after their pooch very well and are good about keeping aggressive dogs away. I do always worry that the water may not be as clean as Id like it to be, but Ive never felt that Bella or I was unsafe (I wouldnt drink it or anything, but she does by accident sometimes and has never gotten sick). The park is also very safe; I leave out a blanket, snacks, and all of our things so that we can spend the full day, and no one has ever messed with it or let their dog get into it.
Absolutely love this place! Big open fenced in off leash park with a nice sized pond right in the center of it all. I love taking my dogs here. Always a bunch of social dogs ready for endless hours of play. There is a small fenced in area for little dogs with big fears :) and a wash station for when the fun is over. Dont wear anything you actually like here because where there is water, there is mud and where there is mud and dogs, theres bound to be a mess! Bring drinking water for yourself as there arent any water fountains close unless you dont mind drinking from a hose at the wash station.
My dog loves it there but its not for everyone. Follow the rules. No food (this isnt a place to have a picnic or read a book while your dog plays who knows where - you need to watch them), kids need to be a certain height, remove prong/chain collars and leashes, pick up after your dog, and small dogs should stay in the small dog area if they are afraid of or antagonize bigger dogs. Also, its double gated so make sure only one gate is open at a time!
Great place for our four-legged friends. It seemed very clean (didnt come across any doggie landmines). There were plenty of poop pickup bag and disposal areas. I have a lab, so of course he went into the lake for a swim. He had lots of fun and well be coming back often.
We like bow wow beach very much. Our dog is high energy and she enjoys playing in the water. This park has plenty of seating areas, benches, and tables to sit. Take a healthy dog with a strong immune system here because dogs do pee and poop in the water, which makes it easier for pups to injest if they are swimming. Also, there are hoses here to wash your doggie before leaving.
My aussie and I adore this park. Its spacious, fun, and you meet some pretty cool pups! Theres a big lake for the dogs to cool off in (i wouldnt let them drink it though), and its all enclosed for off-leash fun. Theres a few people that bring their aggressive dogs, which is annoying (dont bring your dog if its aggressive, you ruin the experience for all the other dogs!) But overall the crowd is very nice and your dog will leave very tired and happy. Also, theres a wash station so you can give your dog a bath after.I took one star off just because of a few people who bring their dogs that they know are obviously not dog friendly. Its not all the time, but there have been a few instances over the summer. As for the park, 5/5!
Most excellent dog park I have been to in the northeast ohio area. The planning for the park is top notch, and its very clean even with the excessive rain this season. The park is large enough to take your dog to a more secluded area for one on one time even on a busy Sunday.
My dog Rags and I go to the Beach almost every day. It is spacious and clean and my 20-pound rescue loves it. Yes, there are a few folks who dont pickup after their dog or who dont pay close attention to their dogs behavior, but, for the most part, people are friendly and control their dogs actions. Kudos to Stow for providing a very worthwhile place for folks like me (an apartment dweller) with a place to go with my dog. Ive met people from as far away as Canton who come a long distance to use the park, they like it so much. The clean-up hoses are a big help in getting the sand off your dogs and the picnic tables and poop stations are a good incentive for folks to clean up after themselves and their animals. Thanks again, Stow. Well Done!
We drive about 30 minutes from Hartville with our 13 year old German Shepherd just to come to this park. The man-made lake used to be a swimming hole for people and is the Parks best feature. I really appreciate the dog wash stations and provided bags to clean up after your pup.
When we lived on the east side of Cleveland our three dogs demanded going at least once a week for the 50 minute drive to swim there. Seeing how thoroughly they enjoyed it was worth the time and effort and we would make a donation via the donations box to help support stow doing this park. Now that we have moved to the westside near the airport we havent gone much at all especially since our destination dog, who was the playtime demanded, has passed away. We plan to take our two dogs soon to see how they respond to the park without the high energy third dog. Here is hoping they get into the water at least.
Our dogs love this place. It usually always hasa decent number of dogs here to socialize and random tennis balls to throw in the pond for our dog to fetch. Its decent size to walk around the pond as wwll. There is also an area to rinse everyone off when you leave as well.
My pups a social butterfly and she LOVES coming to the park to socialize and swim. We never usually have any problems coming to the park but with more dogs coming in to play for the summer I have notice more aggressive behaviors from other dogs and their owners dont take action. One dog was being aggressive with mine and I was asking the owner to hold her dog till we were far enough away, she took no action in controlling her dog, he was growling excessively and snapping at my dogs legs and scruff. Luckily a nice bystander took action and we were able to get to the other side of the park well enough away from the aggressor. Other than that I have no complains about the park, owners just need to be more respectful if someone asks them to control the dog for a moment so there are no issues, common courtesy.
I have 2 dogs who go crazy for Bow Wow Beach! I live 10 minutes away and every time I go It’s always clean, the dogs are friendly, owners make small talk, and Iv never had an issue. Owners are quick to grab there dog if they feel any aggressive behavior. Overall this place is amazing and highly recommend to any dog owner!
Great open park with lots of other dogs. Huge lake! Only think I did not like is all the sand. When I take my dog to a dog park, Im not wearing sandals. And after he gets in the lake and comes back out, its impossible to get all the sand off him. Other than that, this place is great for dogs!
Very fun park for the dogs, but pretty dirty. There were dogs pooping and peeing in the water. Who does that??? And also, when my dogs pooped in the grass and I went to clean it up, there were multiple piles there from other dogs, and I saw 2 other dogs going right in front of their owners and all they did was stand there and watch! They didnt clean it up. I mean, come on! And some of the owners had slightly dog reactive dogs there and they were letting them run clear acoss the other end of the beach and they were getting into fights and that wasnt very smart or safe on their part. I have a dog reactive dog and I left him at home, thats the smart thing to do. If you know your dog is like that, DONT TAKE HIM WHERE THERES OTHER DOGS! I probably wont be going back. Its unfortunate before most of it is the ignorant owners faults. Oh and I wished theyd had warm water to rinse the dogs off before you leave. It was ice cold and my girls were freezing and hated it.
We hace a small, 7 pound Yorkie that we took to this park today and was very disappointed. Due to his size, we initially decided to take him to the designated small dog area. In most pictures you see the lake and an obstacle course for the dogs to play in but this is not the case for the small dogs. Their area is segregated from all of that leaving our dog to play in a kids pool that contains no water and a SMALL grass area. If we had a larger dog we would have had a much better experience but if you have a small dog be prepared to play in a waterless, beachless area.We decides to take our dog (on his leach) to the large dog area and had multiple dogs bite and try and attack our dog. While we rapidly went to grab our dog and evacuate the situation, none of the owners of the large dogs were paying attention or treating the situation. We know that our dog is smaller and cant always play with the big dogs but it is frightening to see the owners lack of focus.
We own 5 dogs & we travel from Keego Harbor, MI ( 1 hr west of Detroit) at least 4 times a year to come to this dog park!!! Its worth every $ we spend on gas, hotel rooms, & food to come here. People let the dogs be dogs here!!! Also, everyone weve met has been extremely friendly. Best dog park in the 28 states weve traveled to!!!
My pups always love it here. They get to take out all their energy swimming and running down the beach. I will say there are people who dont take their dogs out of the park when they become agressive or are misbehaving- but its a big park and its easy to get your pups away from those situations. Dont let it ruin the whole park for you.
I was looking at the dogs and they seemed to really enjoy themselves. Theres a large pond that they can swim in, and if you dont want your dog swimming theres plenty of ground to run around on. Theres an obstacle course, too, if your dog is into those sort of things. A nice patio for the dog-owners to sit on, and plenty of other dogs for your dog to play with. If I had a dog and I lived in the Stow-area I would definitely take it here very often. I dont though, so I went to play Pokémon Go. If youre interested in that... they have a whole bunch of Pokéstops. Tons of scythers. And I mean tons. Had a really wide variety of Pokémon to catch, too. I went twice, and both times at least one of the Pokéstops had a lure on it. Would definitely go again.
Loved the park in general. this is my dogs first time at a dog park. wanted to get some more socialization as she is a service dog in training. There was 1 couple who had 2 very mean dogs. 1 very toy possessive and the other had a muzzle and started fights with dogs. They scared kairi and she was nervous the rest of the time. I hope if we come back theres no mean dogs and she isnt scared. i was afraid this would happen but I was hoping it wouldnt. I really hope this doesnt impact her training
Hi, my names Charlie. Im a 2 yr. old chocolate lab. My mommy takes me to Bow Wow Beach as much as she can. I LOVE it there! As soon as I see that were there, I get SO excited that I start this high pitched squealing to let my friends know Im here! The park is so huge with lots of land to run around in Its safe and fenced in and I have SO many friends to play with that I just start running everywhere, just so I can play with them all. Oh, yeah, and the BESTEST is the big lake right in the middle, just for us where I can dive in and play in the water to my hearts content! Theres nice soft sand all around the lake and a lot of my friends moms and dads bring our balls and frisbees to play with. So come on out and bring your kids, I cant wait to meet them!As a matter of fact, I just now got home from Bow Wow Beach and as you can see in my picture, that Im exhausted! Mommys happy because she knows I wont be bugging her tonite. Ill probably be sleeping like a baby for the rest of the night!
I would ask that people PLEASE use a degree of common sense when reading these reviews! For example theres one individual who gave the park a 1 star rating...because shes NOT a smoker (7 1/2 acres outdoors and she couldnt find any air to breath? REALLY???) and I saw at least one comment that suggested the person wasnt happy because they got yelled at for their dog attacking another persons dog (there IS a difference between play and aggressive behavior!). That said, Bow Wow Beach is a WONDERFUL dog park....LOTS of room to run, play and swim, with amenities such as an obstacle course, a diving dock and 3 wash/rinse stations at the exit. My family has 3 dogs and Bow Wow Beach has long been one of our favorite summer destinations...like taking the human kids to Cedar Point, we tend to make a day of it. DO beware of bacteria levels in the lake during hot, dry spells during the summer and DO check to see if theyre open BEFORE you make the drive...they are typically closed during winter months, really bad weather and sometimes during the summer because of those bacteria levels...in other words, use some common sense!
Everything was amazing and its been at 5 stars for me up until last night while I was up from 3 am to 7:30 at the vet because my dog was puking worms from drinking the filthy lake water that every dog uses as a bathroom. Maybe if the water gets some kind of filter to it Ill go back but Im not going to ever put my dog through this again.
A little TLC would go a long way. Stow has such nice almost great parks but not enough tax $ go toward them. Doesn’t even need to be $ though, just some local govt initiative to get more volunteer events would be plenty. I called park director twice and left voice mails offering to help and never heard back.
BEWARE BEWARE BEWAREThe man in this picture is Larry Walters, a Cuyahoga Falls resident who visits bow wow. It’s documented with Stow PD that he has been making verbal threats to adults and children. If you see him here, please report him.Bow wow beach is fantastic and it’s a shame a few bad apples have to ruin it for the group.

2022-05-15On my drive back to Maryland, I wanted to find a dog park to let my dog run to burn some energy and this one came up. 10/10 recommend! The whole pond is fenced in and it’s fairly large! There were so many dogs there for him to play with. There’s a separate fenced in area for small dogs as well! I wish I had a dog park like this one closer to where I live because we’d be going every day!

2022-05-13Great large public dog park with water, grass areas, small dog area, and even hoses to rinse the pups off before leaving! Can be busy, but there’s plenty of space!

2021-07-07Wonderful park that has simply gone to the dogs! Literally! This park has something for every dog. The lake water is treated... but is not safe for human... of course. There are plenty of signs letting you know in case the obvious was not good enough. There is plenty of shade and there are separate areas for small and large dogs. But the small dog area does not have dedicated lake access. There is an obstacle course and plenty of room for dogs to roam. There are port a potties available for humans😀. As well as several benches available.Small children are not allowed inside the fence for safety reasons. But unfortunately that is not always followed. It is also against the rules to bring and food inside... both for dogs and humans. But again... not always followed. The park used to be a swim lake... but that was a very long time ago. The buildings are still there from that time... but they are planned to be torn down. There is an area to wash your dogs as you exit.Bring towels for the ride home!

2021-07-11Our family thought it sounded like a nice place to try for dogs. This was such a fun place to take the dogs. They had a blast running in the sand and swimming in the pond. There were so many dogs running around and playing with each other. There are tennis balls on the beach or in the water that you can use throw to your dog or any other dog. You are able to walk around the pond with your dog or your dog can run, while you take a stroll around the pond. They have fenced in area for the smaller dogs to go in, so that they dont get run over by the larger dogs. On the other side of the pond is an agility area that has 3 or 4 things for the dogs to walk on, jump through or walk through. The kids had an amazing time watching the dogs and throwing balls for all the dogs. There is a place that you can rinse your dog off before you leave the park. No one is allowed in the pond except for dogs. They do have sings stating this.

2022-06-25I took my one year old dog for the first time today. Lots of people and dogs on a very hot day. It was great fun for the humans and dogs alike. Very friendly atmosphere. Pretty clean. Awesome place for the dogs to swim, play, run, socialize. I drove 40 minutes to check it out, and it was worth it! Great place, Stow!

2021-09-11Very nice and spacious. Well kept area, wash stalls at exit are a very nice feature. It would be nice if there were more balls or frisbee for the dogs or a fountain etc for the dogs to drink from. But otherwise it was a very fun experience.

2022-04-06One of the best dog parks in Ohio that Ive visited so far. Dogs love it, plenty of shade and places to sit for us humans too.Theres bathrooms, fountains for us to refill bowls and bottles, as well as a great community for people to gather for a good time with their pups.

2021-11-30My girlfriend and I bring our pups here often! Plenty of space, nice little lake, clean! There are a few bath stalls, however, they’re not elaborate. These are simply enough to hose a dog off to the extent that they won’t entirely leave your car a mess. With that said— wash stations are not available in the winter. All things considered, this is a fantastic space to spend some “off leash” time with your dog! This is one of the nicest dog parks we’ve been to, it’s certainly worth visiting!
