We decided to celebrate Valentine’s Day at the blystone due to all of the reviews, however our experience was absolutely terrible. We were seated in a tiny table practically in the kitchen, right next to the door that leads outside to the bathrooms, it was snowing and extremely cold, so we froze practically the entire time!We waited an hour for our dinner, our waitress hardly checked on us and did not give us any silverware, when she did It had food stuck to it.While we sat there waiting for our dinner for that hour, we could hear all of the staff complaining and yelling at each other and complaining about customers. The staff was not friendly at all and were incredibly unwelcoming!A women eventually came over Bc she noticed that we had been sitting there for so long without food. Our steak was almost completely rare and our check was for $150. They did not offer a discount or maybe even a free dessert for everything we went through. I do not recommend this place at all!!!
Im not a total cheapskate, but $40 for steak and eggs is absolutely crazy in my opinion. The steak wasnt that big, it tasted unseasoned, and was borderline tough. The home fries were good though. Wagyu burger was dry with no flavor, very overpriced for a burger with no sides. Pancakes were good, again, very overpriced for pancakes with no sausage or bacon....$12 for 3 pancakes.
My boyfriend & I used to frequent Blystone but after this past Sunday and the rudeness of staff I wont be coming back. I knew they would be busy but the girl had no clue what was going on and told me there was a 2 hour wait but yet people were finishing up and leaving and there were 4 tables available. Ive been reading other reviews and people are correct to say this place has and continues to go downhill. Also the last few times I have been in I feel like they only want regulars in their establishment not people who come in every now and again.
The best steak I have ever had. No joke! I was blown away. I’ve tried their wine seared ribeye and their bone in ribeye. Both very good but the bone in was perfect. Brussel sprouts and homemade cheesecake also very good! Get what you pay for, not a cheap place to dine but that’s what you get for a good treat!
Start with the good. The French fries were exceptional. The Mac and cheese that came with my daughters meal was great. Now on to the unexceptional. My Wagyu burger was honestly the most blan piece of meat Ive ever eaten. My daughters burger was also exceptionally bland. Prices are inclined with the trend of overpriced under done food that seems to be popular nowadays. Ill vote for you as governor but most likely wont be eating at your restaurant again.
Literally the worst service. Female manager is rude. Server is a female and has came over twice. I had dirt in my ice. It took over 20 minutes and us asking another server to get our waitress to get my new water after asking. Someone brought wrong food and my friend ate a bite and manager snatched it and never said sorry and was rude. Guy server has been helping and is the sweetest. This place is literally the worst. We’ve been here over an hour and still haven’t got food. We asked our server for our check 20 minutes ago and still have not seen her.
Loved this place, but not so much anymore, have spent lots of money at Blyestone Farm. Sadly the quality of how the food is prepared seems to be getting worse each time. I have had multiple times visiting here where my salad is missing ingredients, steaks are not cooked the correct way, there is no consistency. Tonight was the worst experience, ordered a charcuterie board with the expectation of it being the same as the last time with really good salami meats, tonight it was chunks of ham and turkey, such junky unappealing meats. A steak was ordered and was supposed to get a crusted horseradish layer and it was literally just horseradish caked on top, there was no “crust” to it. I ordered the wintertide salad, it typically has thinly sliced pear, the cook just cut it into hunks, the red onion was cut into giant hunks, they are always generous on chicken in the salad, this time I had hardly any chicken. Very disappointed in this visit and the kitchen’s inconsistency to the point I may not come back.
If you are looking for the real deal steak dinner it doesnt get any fresher than this honey! This is a working cattle ranch where they source their own meat, produce etc. It isnt fancy.Heres the deal its a pole barn turned restaurant, butcher shop and bakery. Its not Cameron Mitchells.. ITS BETTER!!Its comfortable, casual and the staff greet you and treat you like the part of the family they like lol!!Lets start with the butcher shop. The cuts of meat in this meat counter are top notch, the brats large and well filled, the pork chops.... oh Lord the pork chops... They are worthy of this past pig farmers standards! Then there are cheeses and deli meats and goodness galore!!Its my favorite style of Amish shopping!Next walk through the side door to the bakery. OMG the mouth watering smells. Pies, cookies, fudge and several varieties of cheesecake, not to mention speciality desserts. Yall I had a bourbon brownie here that would make Jesus endorse the Kentucky Spirits!!!Now for the moment yall sold your kids for... THIS steak dinner (or anything on the menu for that matter) is melt in your mouth deliciousness!! And the side dishes. Do yall remember the original baked potatoes from Cracker Barrel, when they first opened? Well the Blystone wizards in the kitchen have resurrected that amazing taste!! And the sweet potato mash.... Child.. its shut your mouth, slap your grandma good!Heres the only problem Ive ever had with this place.. EVERYTHING is so damn good its hard to pick what to eat cuz you want it all... Seriously not joking yall. And I aint rich enough to order it all lol.And lets not forget the bar. Kyle (one of the amazing staff) made me one of the best old fashioneds Ive ever had ( Im a whiskey/bourbon woman folks!)This is our go to need a great dinner, dining experience!!Tonight upon our departure from another AMAZING meal, I walked over to the cattle( right by our parked truck) and thanked them for their service!Give its try, you can thank me later!!!!!
So cool! Such a great atmosphere. The food is delicious and the server was friendly and took great care of us. She couldnt have possibly been better. The staff in the store was great and helpful. Everyone was friendly. I saw complaints about them not requiring masks & trying to bully a great business. I saw customers with a mask. If you feel better wearing a mask, wear one. Someone complained about them not having hand sanitizer. It wasnt a problem for me. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands. The bathrooms were very clean too!
Forget farm-to-table...this place is table-to-farm! I almost dont want to tell anyone about this place for fear it will ruin the small-town, America atmosphere, but man this place is almost too good to be true! The food, although not perfect, is better than 90% of the places in the greater Columbus area and prices are better than reasonable! Service was great (on a night they had a live bluegrass band), but the ambiance and atmosphere is what sets this place apart! It almost feels like a movie set! Perfect country setting and facilities are great! Bartender recommended a great bourbon, which they also had a very unique selection of...and a decent smattering of craft beers on tap! Give this place a shot, and you wont regret it!
I cannot even express in adequate words how wonderful Blystone Farm and its staff really is. They treat you like family. You are not judged (mask or no mask); you are made to feel welcome, and the food is fabulous! My friends and I are going to make this place our monthly outing night. Love to ALL the staff there who make everything so special.
They had issues with the fryer, which affected the use of the grill, causing a long delay getting our meals. We waited a good hour on our steaks--understood. They were average, but not worth the $120 final with tip -- (2) steaks, one app and (2) cocktails. Everyone was nice, but I think a complimentary appetizer wouldve been nice for how long we had to wait. It was our anniversary and we had other places to be that day, hence why we opted for a late lunch at 2:45. Well probably go back for a burger or live entertainment, but no more expensive steaks.
Extremely happy with my experience here. Food was amazing, staff overly friendly & relaxed environment. Hands down the best pork chop I’ve ever had. Never had a smoked & grilled chop and now I don’t want it any other way after having their style. At first glance I wasn’t thrilled about it being smothered in gravy- but oh did I change my mind after that first bite! Delicious with a capital D. So many desserts to choose from I had to get 4 to take home! Can’t wait to go back. Thank you for a true farm to table experience and such a friendly & inviting atmosphere.
I was asked to join family to listen to a musician - an old friend of the family - at this locale. I did not realize upon accepting the invitation that this was run by a far-right-fringe gubernatorial candidate, or I probably would not have tried it.The good: The musician, Jameson, was pretty good, even with very poor acoustics. The location is quite unique - even with the farm smells, it has potential. The staff were very pleasant, even on a very busy night. The bad: This was not my cup of tea, politically. From the big warning sign that the employees would not be wearing masks, to the tiny disclaimer on the menu that the kitchen is not gluten- or allergen-free, it seems like they really want to alienate anyone who does not think they way the owners do. The other big thing is the main dining room - it appears to be a large garage with metal wall coverings facing the dining area. The noise was unbearable and left no real possibility of conversation even between musical numbers. The mediocre: My rating is mostly for the food. Of all the items I was able to sample in one visit, there were two stars and a bunch of duds. We ordered chips and salsa and garlic parmesan sprouts for the appetizer round. The Brussels sprouts were delicious, with just enough garlic and balsamic to make them stand out. The bacon ends were a plus as well. The salsa was not as good - it was very acidic and way too salty. Next came cheddar ale soup and a side salad. The cheddar soup was broken, and just tasted like flavorless curds in a flavorless liquid. The salad was nice, except the ranch dressing was very salty. For the main course, I ordered smoked pork chops on a recommendation by a friend, who also warned me to order the sauce on the side. The pork chops were huge and flavorful, and came with well prepared asparagus and a very plain, but well cooked baked potato. The sauce was inedible. It tasted like turpentine with cinnamon and hot pepper juice. Someone REALLY needs to rethink that condiment.Obviously, I care about who gets my money, and I wont be returning. If you, the reader, however, are really passionate about the political leanings here, and just stick to the plain, undressed items on the menu, it might be a good place to try. To anyone else, I would just skip this one.
I really wanted to like this place. Im going to give them another chance and will update my review if my opinion changes. My wife and I went Sunday for brunch. Ordered 2 cinnamon rolls, biscuits and gravy, a side of eggs and bacon. So the only thing that needed cooked were the eggs. We waited an hour and a half for it. When it was finally brought to us it was stone cold. Had to chase down the servers for coffee refills. To be fair they said they were short staffed. But it shouldnt take over an hour for 2 eggs and the food to taste so bad. When leaving we saw one server outside on her phone and at least 6 people in the kitchen behind the bakery. How are you short staffed if youre able to do that?
Went here for my 30th birthday, honestly got there at 4pm and stayed until 7. Ate appetizers and dinner with drinks. The waitress we had and other servers were FANTASTIC! Such a relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. You got quality and quantity in food. Deffinently will be back! Thank you Blystone for making my 30th birthday amazing!
What a great restaurant/meat market in Lithopolis. As we are always looking for small businesses to patronize we chose this place to have lunch. Located on a farm the country atmosphere is inviting. Service staff was friendly and attentive. Menu has a nice selection and should have something for everyone. Stuffed mushrooms were excellent and a different take of this appetizer. My main meal was a turkey, ham and bacon sandwich with fresh cut shoestring fries. The meats were high quality and very good. The sourdough bread was fresh and excellent. Fries were top level and while I wanted save some to take home they were to good and I had to eat them all. We did take home a couple of pieces of cheesecake from the dessert case and they didnt disappoint. The meat market has high quality meat for sale. We got some of their custom bratwurst to have at the camper. They were so good we stopped back a couple days later to get some to take home. As always support your local small businesses stop here you will have a great meal.
My first impression with the restaurant was already off to a bad start. They do not take reservations and the entrance to their property had potholes that need filled. Then I noticed as I walked up to the restaurant, there was a big sign that said something along the lines of We do not enforce masks here and we ask that you respect that. If you do not feel comfortable coming in we can do curbside pick up. That is not verbatim, but you get the picture. Though I am glad they will accommodate people with curbside pick up, that sign to me says they do not believe in COVID but in the most politically correct way possible. After walking in we saw a woman with a shirt that had Blystone Farms name on it as well as a Blue Lives Matters flag. Another server had a shirt that said Blystone for Governor. Their patty melt has a Second Amendment sauce, they have a burger called Back the Blue Burger, and a sandwich called Crispy Q. Wonder if it has any connection to Qanon? Curious. I asked if they had a beer menu and they said no besides a small chalk board by the hostess station. They then carried the sign over to me and said I could take a picture if I wanted. I ordered a beer and I was not offered water. I did not ask for water which sure, ultimately that is my fault, however as a former bartender, it is a good rule of thumb to bring water to anyone who does drink alcohol, just to be safe. The only reason I do not give their restaurant 1 star is because their food was actually quite delicious. There was not a single thing I tasted that I did not like. Absolutely delicious. I did not choose this restaurant, and now that I know what it is like I will never voluntarily choose to return here or recommend it to anyone. Whoever is reading this is may be making assumptions about my political views, which is fine, your assumption is probably wrong, however my political beliefs are of unimportance here. What is important is that I am paying for your food and the service of the servers and cooks, not your political opinion
First time visitors. More than a dinner- it was truly a farm experience! A cow had actually just delivered a calf...how exciting! The dinner was wonderful. ( Salmon & pork chop dinners) We checked out the butchers shop and the bakery. ( Ordered fresh meat and a piece of homemade apple pie to go.) The young man and lady in the butcher shop were so friendly and very informative! My husband and I loved the experience and will definitely return!
I do take the star rating system seriously. Four-stars means I liked it 5 Stars means I loved it I really did. I loved it!The Rosemary is roasted. The steak is the best that weve ever had.... and I dont even like pancakes but I Loved These!Im torn between telling you how much I love this place, and not telling anybody so it doesnt get so busy that I cant get in.Im about to break into the salted caramel cake that I brought home for dessert. If it tastes half as good as it looks Ill be raving about that soon.
We were at the restaurant over an hour before being served dinner, and when I tried to meet our waitress at the bar to just pay the check quickly, because she didn’t split them right the first time (and we had babies with us that were very restless by this point) she refused to let me pay then, telling me it would be really fast, but it wasn’t and the checks were wrong again. On top of all of this, we all left very disappointed in the quality of food for the price.
Recommended by a friend. Drove an hour to get there. A little short staffed, but our server was great and our appetizer and entrees were delicious! We also went into the market, which is a nice addition and also leads you to their amazing selection on pies, cheesecakes and brownies located in their bakery. We tried their buckeyes which were also delicious. First time visiting and will definitely be back again.
We visited this past weekend to celebrate our anniversary. The farm is about 1 hour and 45 minutes each way for us to drive but is was WELL worth the trip!! We had an amazing waitress by the name of Tammy who made us feel welcomed as soon as we walked in. We enjoyed purchasing some specialty items at the market and for dinner we had the steak and pasta dishes. The food was delicious! We also took home several desserts that were out of this world! We will definitely be back and we are telling everyone we know about the Blystone! Thank you for a wonderful evening!!
We had over a half hour wait to be seated then we were told it could take an hour for us to get our food. If we were told this from the start we wouldve went somewhere else. In their defense they were pretty busy and they had a prom going on that night that they were getting prepared for. The food was excellent as always. They still have the best steaks in Central Ohio which is the reason we ended up staying even if it was another hour wait after we ordered.
Amazing, fresh meat that cant be beat anywhere. There are no restaurants that make steaks better than Blystone and I know where my meat comes from. The restaurant has burgers that taste different and better than any other gourmet burger in the area. Lunch is cheaper if you go early. Like everywhere else, prices have went up. It is a great treat to escape the hustle and bustle of the rest of the world.
We waited almost 2 hours for our food after we were forgotten about TWICE by the hostess who never informed any servers that we were there and hadnt been served yet!Long story long, after realizing we werent getting severed anytime soon, I told the hostess we havent been served yet, and she informed me that she had forgotten to let any servers know. My wife and I then waited some more for a server to appear.... After a long time of STILL not getting a server, we found out the server forgot AGAIN! WE WERE SEATED BY THE HOSTESS HERSELF, so theres no excuse for her to have forgotten us! That should have been the red flag to leave, but we drove an HOUR to try this place so my wife and I wanted to stick it out. Our waitress was great, but after waiting almost 2 hours for our food (that was after sitting there waiting for a server to show up which was not the servers fault btw), the kitchen didnt even get our order right. I know the waitress wrote the order down correctly since I saw her write it down so it was definitely the kitchens fault. The burgers were good for sure, but not a 2.5 hour wait good! The only good thing about this place was the waitress doing everything in her power to make up for the horrible experience... Thank you to the waitresses working Sunday afternoons. If you choose to go to this place after this warning, make sure you leave a big tip for the waitresses, they have it rough here...
NOT a good impression.. waited 10 minutes for a seat which was nice then waited 15 minutes for drinks an order appetizers luckily they came out within 30 minutes with no silverware yet .. wife had to go get drink refills for our table . then after about 1/12 hours we started asking about the food we ordered hour ago . customers who were seated 45 minutes after us were getting steaks an we are waiting on burgers 🤦♂️ finally after 2 hours we canceled our order an left . Our outlook.. If this owner can’t run his business how in the Hell he think he can run a state ?
So the wife and I were recommended to this place by a co worker. The store and butcher they had were very nice. We decided to sit down and grab a bite as well. The wait for our food was one of the worst I have ever experienced. The wife and I ordered two burgers and from time we sat down till we got our food was 2 hours. That is a very unacceptable amount of time to wait for two burgers and fries that were not remarkable. I understand they were busy but when the two small 13$ burgers showed up I laughed at the waiter and said “I waited 2 hours for this”, the wait staff was dodging us so we couldn’t even ask what was going on. The food can be summarized as a expensive steak and shake. If the owner would like to contact me more on my experience I will be more than happy to receive a email and answer any questions they may have
Not one to ever write a review but this was hands down the worst dinning out experience. Last night was my first and last time going here. It seemed like they were short staffed which is not a problem and I felt so sorry for the waitress. We had a table if 9 and called a head for seating. We waited a half hour to be seated and another 25 minutes for menus and drinks. Our food was brought out plate by plate with being told it was meant for another table, one couple in our party never got there food. Horrible management I received the sides to my dish after I got my bill. It truly was a awful dinning out experience and a shame since I was looking forward to it. Beautiful setting though.... Will not return
Finally made it in today. Had the waygu beef burger and it was awesome. French fries were delicious as well. Truly the top burger in town. Staff was friendly and took great care of us. Stopped In the butcher shop on the way out and bought a huge prime rib. Can’t wait to go back with more friends.
These are the best wings we’ve had in a long time. And we tried two different ribeyes, both perfect. The staff is superbly friendly and the atmosphere is joyful. Live music isn’t too loud but it creates a good sound so you can enjoy it but still hear your conversation.
This place is AWESOME! The restaurant is clean, friendly, fast, and the food is outstanding. Our waitress was attentive and friendly, we were completely impressed with everything. I loved the fact that there wasn’t a zillion TV’s on every wall; we could enjoy conversation without a lot of distraction. We will definitely be back, thank you so much Joe Blystone, awesome 👏
This was THE most horrible dining experience I have EVER encountered. We were seated, it took OVER 20 minutes for the server to acknowledge us. I ordered my steak well done, not burnt. Then restated, no red, no pink. After at least another 45 minutes, the meal comes..French fries were cold and my steak was red. I sent it back. When the server returned, the stake was burnt and so much salt on the fries, they tasted like they used an entire box. I told the server I wasnt eating it. She came back with a bill for $31. I asked if the drink and piece of pie cost $31. The server said, we took 1/2 off the steak. I reminded her that I didnt eat it and I wasnt paying for it. After back and forth, I was told the manger would come. She didnt, however I was presented with a bill for $10.75 with a nasty attitude. I know the situation had been discussed among the staff as the Male server continued to walk by me and give me nasty looks and eye rolls. I was NOT paying $45 for a steak I didnt eat. I will never step foot in there again!
Two stars because my wife said hers was good. I however had a different experience. I went here because many a person had said it was some of the best food they have had in a very long time. My food was awful. For one the screwed up every part of the order, forgot my appetizer. I got the grilled pork chops. I not sure how they cooked but it was not on a grill. They were way way to salty almost unedible. They were served with asparagus that was soggy and flavorless. This resturant is on a working farm and I knew that going into it. But you can look past the manure smell and flies everywhere if the food lived up to its expectations. But in the end it was a stinky fly infested restaurant that I would no recommend.
Had dinner here on a Wednesday with my wife and two kids. What a great place! We made a reservation and a hand written note was waiting for us on the table. The staff was super friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. It was cold and snowy that day but we look forward to trying out the outdoor seating area and playground when the weather warms up.
The atmosphere of this place was great, but the food was pretty bad. It tasted like it had chemicals in it. The salads tasted refrigerated, not fresh. Appetizers and meals were overpriced for the quality that came out. Lemonade was extremely water down and lacked any flavor. I recommend the Salmon and the Wagyu burger and that’s about it.
Amazing experience today at the farm! Food was 10/10, honestly the best meat I’ve tasted in a long time! After lunch we stopped in the deli and the staff was happy to help us sample some cold cuts and found what we were looking for. Bakery was just as good!! Cheesecake was delicious. Great staff. Great food. Great location and homey atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Stopped by the meat market for the first time to try and new butcher and was very happy with the selection and the staff. We took our family back to the restaurant the following day. The food was good. The fries were delicious. It’s a nice place to have outside the city and a chain restaurant as an option, and a nice little drive. However, I will say, I was a little surprised that the staff was not following COVID guidelines even despite the warning. We saw the notice on the door, but expected that to apply more to them requiring patrons to wear masks vs the staff.
An Actual Farm that just so happens offers a Restaurant for breakfast, lunch or dinner. For this particular visit My Mother took Me for My Birthday Breakfast (7/15) and I was referred to Blystone Farm Restaurant from one of My UNION Brothers early this week. We both ordered the Pancakes w/ Eggs meal with a meat Hers was sausage and Mines was with bacon and We both added Home Fries. Not only can I stress the FRESHNESS/Taste of these meals but the Service was Amazing. They Also have a Butcher Shop attached to the property as well. Definitely looking forward to making it back. GREAT TIME
Service was friendly and great!!! Food was delicious and the meat was tender and just really great!! A country atmosphere with music. Live music on the weekends and really busy. Its off the road aways and looks like your going on private property but your not. You dont have to wear mask!!!! And I really really like that because I have to for work (8 hours) Agh and I like that I can go to a place and not have to wear it. So for those of you who are like me and dont like to wear them out to eat. Id suggest this place!! If your ever in the neighborhood should stop by and try it. Price is a little hight but its worth it to get the great meat. Kids friendly too. If youre handicapped, Id wouldnt suggest you going there. I mean you may be able to pull close to the door but the ground is uneven because its a Farm!!!! Really happy with that place over all. They have a little meat shop in the back of the restaurant kind of connected! I got some and looking forward to cooking it. The guy behind the counter was helpful and happy! And thats hard to find these days. Just saying. Really hope they can stay open for years to come. Need more good places like them in OHIO!
Absolutely Love this place! My wife and I have enjoyed several of the most outstanding meals we have tasted in several months! We shop the butcher shop and have stocked up on some of the best beef ever! The service is outstanding and we actually have made several new personal friends since discovering this gem of a business. The Activity Center has been fun and every time we visit we hear some great music and get involved with some really great people.
The setting is nice. Several craft beer choices, good drink menu, ok wine list. Smoked Fried pork chop was fantastic. (I love smoked pork chops just to be fair.) Wings solid. They need a light on the sign by the road for when it is dark. Drive and parking lot is rough and needs work. Could not find handicap parking. Having a person playing live music at 630 pm frustrated our family dinner. Way to loud. Did not finish a song. Scared the 19 month old and we could not have a conversation. As good as that pork chop was I will be hard pressed to return. Chicken needs seasoned. Sandwiches were solid.
So wonderful! Didnt know this place even existed! Recommended by a friend this morning so on a whim decided to try it. So glad we did. Farm to table restaurant and butchers market and bakery, plus bar. We got burgers, cooked to order, and an appetizer of chips and queso and salsa. Delicious and so much food! They also have sandwiches, breakfast until 3pm, steaks, salads, all kinds of yummy sides plus desserts! All grown and produced there on the farm. Definitely going back. No more expensive than Olive Gardens or any steak house, but FAR BETTER quality and freshness. No masks required! The dog is 20 years old! Try it you wont be disappointed ❤
Very poor opinion of them in regards to their event planning. Have contacted their wedding coordinator MULTIPLE times over the past few months with no response. It would be beautiful to have a wedding here but seeing how the coordinator never responds, it would be incredibly risky to have a wedding here.
After a day outdoors hiking, so glad Brewdog turned us away because we didnt have a reservation! Found this gem with a great family-friendly atmosphere, friendly service and teriffic prices for fresh food. Will be back again and cant wait to take some fresh meat home next time.
TLDR: everything was WAY too salty - and I love salt!Visited for the first time with my wife today and had really high hopes bc it came highly recommended by a friend. When we pulled in we thought we were at the wrong place as I was looking for “Blystone Steakhouse” and the sign at the road just said Blystone Farm. Also, the property was such that it was far from obvious that there was a restaurant there. We actually turned around and left. I looked on the website to see the address for the steakhouse only to realize we were in the right spot to begin with.We started with the Sprouts appetizer which had bacon, a balsamic glaze and blue cheese crumbles - all which I love, but the combination was not good. The blue cheese really clashed with everything else. Would have been a lot better without or with a little fresh parmesan.Generally everything except the salad and cheese cake we ordered was way over-salted (and I love salt - my wife routinely harasses me about this). Not sure if the chef was just heavy-handed today or if it’s typically like this.My wife got the steak burger, fresh cut fries and a salad. The salad was really good but the fries were over cooked with some really burnt bits mixed in. The steak burger sounded great but was just ok. Granted, my wife ordered it well done - so probably would be a lot better medium.I ordered the salmon, asparagus and a salad. The asparagus and salmon were cooked perfectly but both were way over salted. The restaurant is a bit of a hike for us so we likely won’t be back. If we do, I’ll have to give there steaks a try - I’m sure they are great - and will just ask for things to be lightly salted.
Greta family run farm. Best quality meats and super friendly staff. I have taken over a dozen people here and everybody 100% loved it and still goes back. Good common sense eating at the restaurant and a great place to have a beer among friends. I highly recommend this place especially if you want to support local businesses.
I really like steaks, the burgers are also great and I have no complaints about them as they should be. HOWEVER, the owner of the shop, Joe Blystone, stared at me just because I was an Asian. Thus, recommended for non-Asian people unlike me. Joe doesnt deserve being a governor, as he intimidates the visitors of his own business.
Very disappointedWhen you pay that kind of money for a steak, mistakes are not ok. Our appetizer came out with the main course, it was not cooked completely. My steak was cold. This was our first and last time there. We will stick to eating at The Top when we want a good steak.
This place is over rated!!! Waited over 2 hours for food that was still 45 mins away from being served, this was 9:30! Showed up at 5:30 had to wait 1 1/2 to be seated . Kitchen help walked out, what does that say. People that came in after us by a hour got their food when we were getting our salads. We cashed out drinks and cancelled food. Manager made excuses. Another couple got served twice after waiting as long as we did. Only thing good was our server, felt bad for him.Ended up at IHOP at 1030pm , food was good and served promptly.
Awesome place! We’ll definitely be back. Didn’t care for the fact I was told no or we don’t do that a couple of times. The one girl was rude. Jim and Jane were both there and we found out he’s running for governor of Ohio 2022. You got our vote, for sure!Must visit to appreciate.
Horrible service, probably the worst we’ve ever had. We had a larger party and reservations were made over a month ago. Obviously the manager did not plan well nor did she jump in to help the waitress who was struggling to serve on her own and cover other tables. Food came out after 2 hours and most people in our party was missing something, they were out of what they ordered ( 2 hour prior) mind you, multiple other tables who arrived after us were served. The food was luke warm and honestly everyone was so hungry and tired of waiting that we just ate it. Manager was full of excuses and useless. We will not be back.
This place rocks breakfast, lunch and supper. Heres what we have tried that you wont be disappointed in....Burgers, Steaks, Chicken Salad, French Toast. The atmosphere makes you feel like you are part of large family ranch in Texas and it really is a LIVE working farm w/ the friendliest dogs and a farm cats around every corner. EXTREMELY clean, friendly and very high standards of food quality. Ya gotta try this place if you are within 15 miles of Lithopolis/Canal Winchester.
Terrible, terrible place. The first red flag should’ve been the fact that they don’t follow the COVID regulations by mandating masks be worn, by staff or the customers. We waited about 20 min before anyone came to greet us at the table. We ordered apps, which were sub par, and they did inform us that they were busy and that it may take a while for our meals. We had children with us so they did bring out the kids meals before so they could at least eat. However, we did not expect to have to wait an extra 90 min for our food, with no updates from our server and our drinks sitting empty. My husband finally got up to go find our server and ask for an update on our food. He then told us it would be another 15 min or so, which would’ve been almost 2 hrs since we placed our order. In addition to that, there were other tables who were seated after us and were already eating their meals. The manager came out and just started spewing out excuses on why our food (which were just a couple burgers and fish n chips, nothing fancy) was so delayed: “something caught on fire, our dishwasher broke, blah blah blah” and asking for our understanding (which at that point, everyone’s hangry side had come out and we were past the understanding state). We told them we were leaving and we offered to pay for the kids meals but they said they would put it on the house. We wasted an entire afternoon to not even eat. We will not be back.
We went last night for dinner and music (Dan Orr was playing ). They were busy but not terribly busy. There were empty tables. The service was the absolute WORST I’ve had in a long time. We never got our salads (ended up asking for them in a take out container to take home) and the waitesss never filled our drinks NOT ONCE. I had to ask 3 times and wait 30 min for a take out container for leftovers . I wanted to order drinks but I assumed I’d never get them , plus I couldn’t get my water refilled so I felt it was an imposition to ask for a glass of wine.As for the food - don’t waste your money. It was high school cafeteria quality with premium pricing . I had chicken Parmesan and the chicken was burned tough while the spaghetti was soggy. My boyfriend had the fish which was greasy and tasted metallic. Plus the fish portion was skimpy for the price. All in all we paid $56 for something that we could have gotten better in a Hungry Man frozen dinner for $5. If I could rate the food quality and service less than 1 star I would. It was that bad. Now I will say the building and grounds are pretty . They had a store that looked cute but it wasn’t open .
We were there Friday night for dinner, 4 adults and one child. 2 adults got there food, burger and huge pork chop, more than 5 minutes later my husband got his pasta. My salad, the the child’s grilled cheese still not there after 10 minutes. My salad finally comes, but no grilled cheese. Another 10+ minutes passed with a few apologies the grilled cheese arrived. No side salad for the others at the table...part of their dinner. Not sure what was going on, it was crowded but to have a table of 5 wait 30 minutes for everyone to get their food is unacceptable. The waitress didn’t offer to comp anything...even the grilled cheese that arrived 30 minutes after his parents dinner! I will have to rethink this place for a family dinner.
This has become our favorite dining out experience in Ohio. Have yet to be disappointed by the food, although the craft beer list is too heavily weighted towards IPAs for my tastes. So far the best item on the menu is the burgundy marinated steak. Yes, $30 is kind of pricey, but it is one of the very few meals I have dreamed about the same night I ate it. The steak is just that delicious.I have learned to skip the skinny fries in favor of the baked potato. If you cant decide on an appetizer just get the sampler. Somewhere on that platter will be a bite that makes you close your eyes and smile to yourself. Go there and try it out.
Everything in the store is delicious - From the fresh meats to the yummy salsa, bbq sauce, dressings, and homemade cheesecake. Everything weve eaten in the restaurant is very good too. Im unsure why none of the employees wear face masks, but there is a sign outside informing you of this. I believe they offer curbside pickup if you dont feel safe interacting with the employees.
Been coming to Blystone since they were a small one room butcher shop. I have a love/hate, but mostly love relationship with them. I loooooove the butcher shop. Steaks are phenomenal. Service always on point. Excellent selection of craft beer.Now. The restaurant. When they are on, they are on. Weve had excellent food and service. And weve had poor food & service. The inconsistency at this price point is what frustates us. But I love what they are trying to do here so Ill keep going back.
I feel like our experience was likely an exception to their normal service but overall it was pretty bad. The venue is beautiful and our party was excited to support a business that believes in the freedom of choice so the nearly 40min drive seemed worthwhile. Drinks came slowly and werent refilled in a timely manner or at all. Ordered two appetizers, one came out promptly and the other was forgotten until asked for 30mins later. Our food came out after over an hour and most meals were cold and all but one of six was incorrect, missing garnishes (sour cream, pico) and side dishes. It took another twenty minutes to get our checks that were wrong and a to go box. The live music was awesome. There was a great tap list but many kegs blew and werent replaced. So much potential but the staff really seemed to be struggling on this evening.
DISAPPOINTED! Was looking forward to having lunch there....Classic Steakburger was terribly dry and tasteless. . My granddaughter barely ate half of her Chicken Salad .Croissant....it was also dry and tasteless. I paid way too much for horrible food. Will not go back!
Great,!!! Place to take your family an friends the food is very good the setting is wonderful just like it was before the pandemic ! Looking forward to my next visit also they have a butcher shop there you can take home some of the freshest meats no hormones antibiotic all natural an you can set out side when the weather is nice
Blystone does not require their customers or workers to wear masks. Very disappointing to see as I had heard great things. We were about to drop $100 on meat there too.If you are one of the few people left who appreciate businesses that take the publics health seriously, I strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere. It isnt fair to the other businesses who have sacrificed so much keep their patrons safe.
Loved It!! Absolutely delicious food and everyone was friendly. Prices were great and the place was neatly decorated with a store next door with lots of goodies for sale. Wish I had room for dessert!! I had enough leftovers for another meal. First time Visitor who will definitely be back with Friends and Family!!
I havent had a chance to eat at the restaurant yet but the butcher shop is phenomenal! Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. Always quick, even when they are super busy. Lots of extras available to help round out your trip. Its a little out of the way for us, but we keep coming back because you really cant beat the quality! I highly recommend the Yukon Gold marinated steaks, out of this world!
Amazing farm-to-table food & the drinks are creative & refreshing. A variety of seating options: indoor tables & bar, covered outdoor seating, and outdoor picnic table seating near a playset for your small kids. Staff is attentive & focussed on service. Clean & safe for the whole family. And lets not forget a schedule of live music in the summer. Relax & enjoy!
Service was just okay....need to work on that. Felt like first time we were there 2 years ago was much better. Menu was just okay as well. Band made the night though. Love the atmosphere. Dog likes to sit by your table when your food comes so if that bothers you....dont go. Lol
Most likely the worst service I’ve ever had , I have never gotten up and left a restaurant. Yes I understand restaurants get busy , but 45-50 min for cold appetizers and then having to send them back . Then another 45-50 to never get my food . I actually had them put it into to-go because I was sick of waiting
Went for the second time last night, after first visit for breakfast was not a pleasant experience, I wanted to see if this was a trend. It was pretty cold outside, unfortunately it was cold enough inside that we wore our coats while eating. The steaks were good but were close to room temp., as were the fries. Of our 3 orders the only one served correctly was my husbands fish and chips, which was delicious and hot. Both my sons salad and mine were served with incorrect dressings. The farm and restaurant is a great idea, but with only 10 tables and bar there seems no reason for a disconnect between waitstaff and kitchen, nor should there be any reason for room temp food.
Sadly, another disappointing visit. The atmosphere is terrific, and their beer selection is quite good, however their service and food leaves much to be desired. We were the first table to arrive for breakfast, and after 45 minutes of waiting still had not received our meals. When we did the food was okay, however my sons steak was like a piece of shoe leather. When we told the waitress we were not offered a new steak (probably a good thing since it may have taken another half hour to arrive!), but were instead given a 30% discount on his meal. Im sorry, but a butcher shop should at very least be able to get the steak right! For $50+ dollars for breakfast it wasnt worth it. We want to love this restaurant, but unfortunately this seems to be their standard performance.
Stopped Saturday to see if they had a carrot cake left for wife’s birthday. They did not but ask me to wait a minute they called Annette(Baker) she said would be in Sunday morning and could have me one done by noon. I picked up at 11:30 am Sunday the cake was phenomenal and I would say the people that helped me were exceptional. We have been customers since moving out here around 5 years ago. Our daughter owns a business in downtown Canal supporting local business is easy to do when people care. These people GET IT.
The restaurant and bathrooms are very clean, the bartender was very kind, and the Sophies Perogies are TO DIE FOR, but those about the only positive things I have to say. Our server was very blase. We received our menus around 7:45 to order. We took about 10 minutes to look at the menu and decided on two appetizers and two entrees. The perogies, as mentioned, were phenomenal. The buffalo wings were pretty lack-luster. There were 6, VERY small wings in the appetizer. We ordered two mid-rare steaks, which we didnt get until about 8:50 pm. Tables came, got their food, steaks, drinks, paid, and left all while we waited. When I asked the server why two mid-rare steaks take 45 minutes, she gave a pretty bogus excuse. When our entrees did arrive, they were very unimpressive. The steaks, mid-rare, had no juice, no blood, and honestly, no flavor. The mashed potatoes were good. Our bill was well over $100; for that price, the food better be great, every time. It was our first experience, and we will never return, unfortunately. Im glad others had a more positive experience. Luckily our server did comp one dessert to take home, and the pumpkin cheesecake is very delicious.
Not sure what else I can say about this place. Weve been here several times and the service, atmosphere and the food is the real deal. A special thank you to Danielle who catered to our every need and also to Joe and Jane Blystone who made this little slice of heaven possible. Many more trips to come.
The restaurant was great! Food was good and staff was friendly. The property is gorgeous and I wish the event venue was around when I got married! Only drawback were a ton of flies on the patio when we ate outside. It was somewhat distracting but to be expected I guess when the animal barn is right next door. But it would never deter me from going back!
Really wish I didnt have to give such a low review. Heard great things and figured we would try it with another couple of our friends. 3 of us ordered the Ribeye (boneless) 2 medium rare and the other medium. None of them came out to temperature of choice. We ordered buffalo dip as well without blue cheese. It came out with blue cheese so we politely reminded them we didnt want the bluecheese crumbles. They quickly sent it back to kitchen only to see they dipped it out and took out a good majority of the dip itself. Unacceptable!! Then to top it off, wife ordered a margarita and it was by far the worst. Hate to say we will never be back, maybe it was just a bad experience but all 4 of us feel the same. We think they are getting too big and quality and service is hurting because of it.
Quite literally some of the nastiest food ever! Vomit inducing! Top that with the fact that nobody in the restaurant, employees included, wear a mask in the middle of a pandemic, and there you have probably the most unhealthy venue ever in the history of Ohio! I would give this a thousand negative Stars if I could! It is not deserving of the one star I had to give!
Went around 6pm on a Tuesday night. Not busy at all and sat wherever we wanted. Staff was friendly and prompt. The price seemed somewhat high at first but after seeing the portions and tasting the quality, it made more sense. I Had the wings for an appitizer which were a little small but still had a good portion of meat on them. Only about 8 wings per serving. My wife had the Ribeye cooked medium with sweet potato fries. I enjoy my steak cooked rare but I must say, her steak was fantastic. Huge cut, perfectly cooked and very tender. Sweet potato fries were hot and excellent as well. I had the “Bad Jane” burger and it was pretty good. It’s a burger with Mac and cheese and bbq chips on top. While it was unique and tasty, I was disappointed in myself that I didn’t just go with a plain burger because it was easily the best part. Lesson learned. Overall we were very satisfied with our service and food and will be returning again with family and friends! I’m actually glad the butcher side closed at 6 or else I would have never known about there delicious restaurant!
The food is good but unfortunately the list of cons far outweighs the pros for Blystone’s restaurant. My husband and I dined out with our friends Saturday night and chose Blystone for the atmosphere since we wanted to eat outside on such a beautiful evening. For starters, the patio has one beer menu written on a board that each table passes around and you have to wait your turn to look over the selections. As we started receiving our food, flies were swarming the table. There were too many to count. We realize it is an outdoor venue next to a farm which is to be expected but they were awful and very distracting. We ordered the chips and guac as an appetizer which were delicious but along with two large bowls of dip you receive a small quantity of chips. The menu stated it is served with unlimited chips but our waitress told us extra chips cost $1 extra and we got about 10 of them. We did point this out and were not charged for the extra chips. I ordered what is labeled a “small simple salad” on the Sides menu which I was charged $8 for. The $8 salad is on the Salads portion of the menu and our waitress assured me the charge was correct for the “small simple salad” which I find ridiculous seeing as it is only greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, and croutons. Our friend ordered his steak medium rare which came out well-done once, they told him they would cook another one for him, and then that one came out cooked more well-done than the first. Within our two hours there, another waitress brought out food we did not order three times and went table to table asking whose food it was. There seems to be miscommunication all within the restaurant staff. The food is actually very delicious which is disappointing since we will probably not be returning to the restaurant. You are better off purchasing meat and cooking it at home.
Came here expecting awesome meats but that did not happen. got beer brats, bacon and hamburger. the hamburger was great, very tender and tasty. the brats had hardly any seasoning in them. so disappointing! i did like that they were tender, but nothing else. the bacon was very bland also, and grease popped everywhere when cooking. i have never encountered that with other bacon from butchers before. the cashier was also slow as molasses. she had to hand ring everything and was definitely not in a big hurry. i might come back for the hamburger but very doubtful. overall this place was not what i was expecting.
I cant even buy meat from a grocery store, (where they have it shipped in from who knows where) anymore! This place knows meat! You HAVE to try the Burgandy Pepper marinated ribeye! I cant cook steak, but even I look like a pro serving up this tender, juicy, flavorful plate of YUM! While youre there, chatting with all the friendly people, save yourself a trip to an oversized supermarket, and grab some farm fresh eggs, cheese, Boars Head meats & cheeses, milk & lots of other items. Almost forgot to mention, you can pamper just about anybody, with delicious bakery & craft beer selections!
Went for sons birthday. Over 10 in our party, way to long to take order, way over hour for our food, brought food out randomly to various people, got some of the orders wrong, mine potato was cold, steak burnt on outside red in middle. Also lots of fat. Definitely not impressed took along time to get checks which was messed up on some. Nope not giving a good review won’t go again
Nice down home place. Staff are very friendly and make you feel right at home. They have indoor and outdoor eating. Meat and other items market and bakery right there also. Every so often you get that sweet country breeze... but to be expected....restaurant and market right there on the farm!🤠🐄
I had a combined graduation party with my best friend at the event venue here tonight. It was hands down one of the best days ever. Me, my friends and family all were in awe with how amazing it was. The staff is super friendly and helpful and helped us organize an amazing party, smoothly.
Jane and Joe are first and foremost wonderful people who care deeply about the health and nutrition of our community. Both have dedicated their lives to helping others. The atmosphere of Blystone Farm is calming to the soul, and the food is fantastic. Visit soon. Visit often.
I saw the Trump/Pence signs when i pulled in, I saw the We dont follow Covid19 guidelines I WAS SHOCKED!! I asked to speak to the owner but he was unavailable. Too bad because I wanted to shake that mans hand. I will be back! Oh and the service, food and atmosphere was great
This is truly awesome. The best cuts in the Columbus area by far. Great place to visit. Dont go for the price, go for the quality, will never return to the grocery store for better quality meats. Blystone trumps them all. Truly enjoy every visit. Everyone working in the organization is first class. Well run business! Cant say enough good things. Love this place! I never post reviews online, this is worth the exception.
Love this local butcher shop that is close to our house. Theres nothing quite like fresh beef! The bakery is amazing with tons of tasty treats, the restaurant is SO GOOD, and they have lots of fresh local foods available. They even have candles and gift items available!
Today I stopped by Blystone Farm around 9:15 am, about 15 minutes after opening time. The meat shelf was not stocked and when I asked the staff what time they would have the meat ready, each employee just told me to call back later without giving a time to call. I had planned a gathering and drove roughly 30 minutes to get to the quality meat I knew I would find at Blystone. I’m disappointed in the level of service and lack of professionalism and assistance I received from these employees. Instead, I had to purchase meat from my nearest grocery store, which was comparable to what I would find at Blystone. The grocery store is now where I will purchase my meat from now on.
Called to inquire about getting in on New Year’s Eve. We were told they were not taking reservations. They were busy but come on in. Got there to find half the tables were empty because they were reserved and there was a two hour wait. I like to help local businesses but not when they screw you around and waste your time.
We visited Bythstone for the first time last night and it was fantastic!!!! Live band, great atmosphere Danielle and entire staff from the bar to our waitress were awesome!!! Had a little wait for our food, but it was absolutely worth it!!! Looking forward to going back!!!
Called to see if breakfast was being served. Was about 30 minutes out,but the chef and staff took the time to make me a sausage biscuit. I have been there many times and have never been disappointed with any of the staff or the quality of the meats and bakery.. Thank you so very much.. Judy Garman
Every stop at Blystone makes a memory! Talked and laughed at the meat counter while waiting my turn. All total strangers walking in, but enjoyed the company of talking to random folks! Its been so long that this Covid has restricted us from casual conversations!! Maybe thats why it was so special. Oh yeah, GREAT STEAKS!!! Thanks, Blystone!
STAFF NOT WEARING MASKSDo I need to say more...?! Do they not understand this virus ? Do they not realize they are putting all staff and customers at risk? Do they not understand that this virus is airborne and how their HVAC contributes to its spread? Just went to deli -- no eating inside restaurants for us still!! Dont think well be go back until 2022!!!! Cant the health dept do something?!
I have a $40 gift card that has expired after a year of trying to eat there.on 4 occasions they were closed on 1 occasion they were only serving breakfast for kids.since when does cash expire?i strongly suggest calling before you go. they will likely have the restaurant closed
I was excited to place an order of over 30 separate meat assortment Christmas gift packages through Blystone Farm. However, after initially saying they could handle the large order and include a note stating who meat was being gifted from they rescinded that statement saying they would not include a gift card even if I supplied it as I was directed to do by Kelsey/Susan. In addition, proving more difficult, they would not allow credit card purchase over the phone nor were they willing to set up a secure payment portal for the transaction. After all the no’s and we wonts, I decided to return to Cusack Meats to have them process our order for the holidays.
Went for New Years eve 2020 party. Let’s start with the food was good and thats about it.The DJ was so bad that he couldn’t hold the dance floor and more than 2 thirds of the crowd left by 11.Those who left are smart. They were supposed to have games and raffles but NOPE nothing. Over paid for drinks on top of the 160 for tickets. Even some of the staff working said it was a waste of there time. This was very sad for this place to do to people on New Year’s Eve.Top it off—the DJ missed the time for the ball drop by a min. How sad is that.

2022-04-15Lovely and lively atmosphere! Always friendly staff and wonderful-seasonal menus. Ive never had a meal I didnt enjoy and the cheese cake is worth the trip alone for me. Different nights of the week will often feature music (live) and other events. Always check their website for more info. The only downside is that the service is often slow and the restaurant often full. Get there early and order with patience.

2022-07-13Its a nice place. First time there. Very nice and clean. Friendly service. Good arrived fast. Only complaint I have is the steak was very, very salty. The cut was great. Juicy and cooked just like I ordered. Ill be back but next time Im gonna ask them to go easy on the salt. Overall a great experience.

2022-03-30Very cool property! I loved the farm and the decor of the restaurant. Very friendly staff and good food. Massive pork chops filled me up almost to the top. I was able to fit a black raspberry piece of cheesecake on top. So worth it!

2022-02-24Had heard wonderful things about the restaurant so went for my birthday yesterday for lunch. Disappointed that I chose Blystone’s now and not just went to a basic restaurant. The food was mediocre at best, way over priced for what we received. We had chips and salsa for an appetizer “fresh tomato salsa” and warm chips- we got stale cold chips and what tasted and looked like spaghetti sauce- disgusting. The sad thing is that in their store they sell salsa that looked amazing! We got the meatloaf and pork chops. The meatloaf was way over seasoned and pork chops were very tender but was completely drenched in honey glaze that couldn’t finish them. Lunch total was $72 with tip - for LUNCH! One and done for us.

2022-04-10The food is great. Would be nice if it was posted that the kitchen shuts down an hour and 15 mins before closing. Drove 45 minutes for the pork chops. That we did not get to eat. But we have in the past and they are awesome

2022-02-05Fantastic experience. Hands down best steak and service Ive had in awhile. Other reviews are offended of backing the blue or not enforcing masks. If they enforced masks I wouldnt go. Will definitely be back again!

2022-05-14Jane and Joe, please shut it down for week or two. Straighten things out a bit. Food was fine, but the service was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. Server was kind, but overwhelmed. It was a pretty chill Friday night with a party that was in no hurry, very patient and still it was a train wreck. We got it mostly sorted out, probably paid for too many items, but I don’t ever see myself (or any of us) coming back. I can’t blame anyone who was there. If I had my last name on it, I would expect a lot better…or else it won’t be around for much longer, and that’s disappointing. Maybe they just don’t care. We shall see.

2022-05-16We ordered breakfast, simple and easy. Took about an hour to get our food-4 orders of pancakes and sausage gravy. Poor server is going to need another job if they cant turn tables any faster than that!

2021-07-24We drove from Columbus to have a meal at Blystone today. The meal and service was excellent. The politics that have been brought to the establishment are not what we want when going to shop or have a meal. Even though the butcher shop and restaurant are excellent we will not be coming back.

2022-04-27We used to absolutely love this place. But it has gone downhill pretty fast. The manager with short blondish ashy hair is always super rude to customers and staff. I have never in my life seen someone so rude to their waitresses who are wonderful btw. The food used to be so delicious and wonderful but this last time it was horrible! Soups were cold, we tried to come for breakfast and ended up leaving because the wait was so long and the food that did come to other tables had to be sent back. The table next to us sent back 2 dishes because they were messed up. I dont know what happened but just these past few weeks this place as went all to hell.
