Blue Sky Restaurant in other cities:
A week ago made reservations for a party of 15 for yesterday Thurs. I called just to be safe make sure they could still accommodate us. They had nothing in the book for us. So no problem she will put us in. Get there at six check in Iam sorry we dont have reservation. Well Thank goodness they were able to seat us. Very poor communication between employees and to much trouble to write a name and time in the book. I bragged how good the food was there to people in the party when I choose blue sky, My husband and I frequent here often Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner we have always been very happy with service and food. Our waitress couldnt even remember who got what to drink or to give us refills. We were served barely warm stuffed pepper soup. Then 13 dinners came out steak and shrimp dinners were horrible breading was soggy and paper thin steaks that were all curled up. Liver and onions were over cooked and dry. Now I have had both these meals in the past and recommended them. What a disappointment for friends. 2 guest meals were forgotten until I told our waitress that one never got salad, and these 2 are still waiting on their perch dinner and steak dinner. Dont know what happened with the cook or in the kitchen prep but I got a lot of complaints from friends that their not letting me pick the restaurant for our monthly dinners. I hate to complain but I feel this needed to be brought to MGR or owners attention.
Showed up to catch a. Early lunch about 11:45 am and was only handed a breakfast menu. So me and my guest ordered from that. The breakfast was not much. We has a long wait ,toast was cold and I ordered a ham and cheese omelet with hash browns. The ham and cheese omelet wasnt the best and the hash browns wasnt hash browns but mashed potatoes browned up in a skillet. I wont be going back anytime soon.
Ordered take out multiple times from this location and the order is always incorrect. 3x now I got something different then what was ordered. Asked for chicken got beef. Asked for meatloaf got Meatballs, Ask for sides like gravy. Salad, soups etc and theyre always missing at least one item. When we called to talk to manager they didnt even care or apologize. Would give one star but the actual service employees are wonderful. The manager could use some customer service lessons from the staff!
This place has really gone to hell. The food quality has gone downhill, and now they close whenever they want to. I came during open hours and the doors were locked. The manager said the owner called and told them to close early, and that it happens occasionally. As I drove away, someone else came walked up and the manager let him in. Go somewhere else that respects customers.
Short version: Slightly better than mediocre food, but lots of it, at excellent prices. Its nothing special, but I would go back.Long version: lets start with the good. You get a FULL meal from an expansive selection of diner fare for any selection. For $12.99 I got the ribeye with jumbo fried shrimp with 2 sides, in addition to a side salad, a soup, and rolls w/butter.My issue comes with the quality.Steak:I ordered my steak mid-rare, but there was no hope of cooking the utterly unseasoned, 1/4 inch thick, dollar store special steak to any temp other than raw or cooked through. It was still tender, being (presumably) ribeye, but it was at best 3-4oz steak crying out for salt and pepper.Sides:I ordered mashed potatoes and stuffing both with gravy. The mashed potatoes tasted fine, but were too dry and thick. They could have used more cream, milk, and/or butter. I finished them fine though. The stuffing was a soggy mess. The bread was so doughy that it almost seemed like the bread was insufficiently baked before turning into stuffing, though I doubt thats the case. I didnt eat most of it.Soup and Salad:The soup was your standard frozen bag soup and was fine. The salad had standard toppings (tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion, croutons, no cheese). The mix was nice though, combining Arcadian, romaine, and iceberg.
I work for a day program service and we took our clients there to dine in. We had 26 people in our party. Our waitress was absolutely fantastic, she interacted with the clients, our orders were correct, she kept the drinks filled, frequently checked in and her overall attitude was awesome. Great experience and food 😊
Every time my husband and I go here for breakfast, lunch or dinner we are NEVER disappointed. The food is good and hot, the place is clean, plenty of wait staff who are great , the prices are very reasonable, etc. I want to give a shout out for our server today 11-19-21 Arline R. She was very busy but had a professional way of handling all her customers with grace, speed, courtesy and efficiency. She was on the ball when serving us and all tables around us. Kudos to her and we thank her making our meal special. We will be back.
Bacon was raw, food was cold and the toast was not even cut i had to cut it in half myself. Had to ask for a napkin 3 times while the waitress talked to her friends in the booth next to us. When I got up to get my own napkin she went to get me one. Worst service I have ever had at this restaurant.
Great menu, great service, good prices from what I could tell on the menu. It was sort of a long wait to get a table on a Sunday around lunch time, but our meals all came out super quick and super hot. Ive been there a few times so far and I always order something different because Im a fan of food and want to try it all. Its always tasty and a good amount of food. I never have leftovers, but my family sometimes does.Ill also add that someone in my group got a slice of strawberry cake that looked incredible but sadly it was too sweet for them to enjoy on one sitting. They also noticed it was a little pricey at almost $6. It looked like a good amount of cake to me, but Id be careful if you dont want something too sweet or if you dont want to spend as much. Im sure there are plenty of other desserts to choose from - or maybe thats exactly what youre hoping for :)
We met up with some of my husbands relatives that we have not seen for quite a few years. Everyone ordered something different. The food was plentiful and it was good enough that they all wanted to take home leftovers for their lunches tomorrow. We fed 8 people for $100.00. We did not get dessert because we were all so full.
Great service as usual. I usually like the food but ordered the Cabbage Rolls. Yuck, unless you like Campbells Tomato Soup Concentrate. Because that is exactly what the sauce tastes like. I gave 4 stars because the service was excellent and the Chicken and Dumpling soup was delicious.
Friendly and efficient staff. Went on my lunch break and got in and out in a timely manner. Food was pretty good. Generous portions. I had 2 marinated pork chops, salad, soup, baked potato and carrots all for 12$.Only improvement I could suggest is more broccoli in the broccoli cheddar soup. Would definitely recommend and will return myself.
I can honestly say it was one of the best breakfasts Ive had at a restaurant in years. Everything was hot and cooked to perfection!! My wife and I were just as impressed with the plate presentation and huge portion sizes. Neither could finish our entire meal, but we definitely tried. The atmosphere was unbelievably inviting. The employees were amazingly friendly and genuinely wanted to be there, and the positive attitude and great service showed that. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone!!!!!
A great restaurant; great food, great service and a good atmosphere. I visited on two occasions with my family, and each time the food and service were consistently good. You can have breakfast any time of the day. I will definitely return the next time I am in the area.
Day: Thursday / Time 2pmIts not completely fair to try and rate my 1st visit to this restaurant on what my companion and I had to eat. Breakfast is served all day which I always applaud - my companion had a breakfast special called The Bomb which was hash browns, with eggs on top and gravy on that. There mightve been a meat in that also, I cant remember. He liked it, and it was a generous portion. I got a club sandwich. The meats were thin sliced proceed lunch meat style, quite salty but palatable. The bacon did seem old but maybe just held over from breakfast hours. The side of fries, now the fries were great! I wound up wishing Id just st ordered a plate of double fries. Think Arbys curly fries only not curly. Yum.Service was good, not rushed, not slow. A+, and the restaurant appeared clean. We did not use the restroom.Overall if were in the area, wed definitely stop back to try other items on their extensive menu.
BIG BIG Disappointment after good timesMy late mother liked to eat there and that was before the pandemic hit.We usually had 6 to 8 guests in our party. Well this time to honor my Mom it was last minute thought and it my sister and I. Well on Monday 4/26 we got there at about 6 PM or so and there no line / waiting we said great. We got a table right away with the menus. Then we waited and waited and 6 minutes later a waitress said that shed be with us shortly. Well after waiting a total of 18 to 20 minutes we got up and left. We had no water or drink order or menu order taken during that time. Yes you probably have new help due to COVID but you still need to train them to take of the customer. Last fall we planned on having a post wedding dinner in the back room for 30-40 people we even made a deposit but COVID cancelled that but we as we are from SW Ohio we are still looking for a venue to have a dinner party for the newlyweds to meet family but I dont think it will be there. Youve been great but haven fallen down. The one star is a gift.
Dont waste time here, go to the Amherst location. Today (5/10/21) was the 3rd time I tried going here and walked out angry. After sitting for 5 minutes, I finally saw the waitress come out and deliver and order. Instead of getting my order, or even the couple across from us who only had drinks and were waiting, she walked to the couple that had just been sat and started getting their order. This place is consistently just not worth it. Ive had take out orders that were wrong and when called, the manager just justifies the wrongness and says i can come back to replace it. Ive had wait staff just ignore me. And ive had food that was subpar.I learned my lesson and left here today to head to Amherst. Best choice.
Sat there quite a while before server finally showed up, fries were reheated and served in a clump, no one asked how the meal was, asked for a box and server went to take another order and coffee for another table. This is the second time in a row Ive gotten lousy service and lousy food. Front desk doesnt even offer a solution. Lets not forget there was no manager on site. Wont be back. Take your money elsewhere!
Very good Americana style food. Excellent portions and fair prices makes the tasty meals a good deal. The service has been terrific on all my lunch visits. Even when when busy the food arrives quickly and the servers are attentive and friendly. In the immediate area, this place saves you from the fast food doldrums.
We have visited this restaurant a few times. The have a restaurant in Lorain, OH as well. I visited the one in Lorain many years ago.I noticed that they do a lot of business via delivery drivers / orders on line. You can see the tables full with many orders. The tables are usually full of families, friends and couples. The servers are quick to take your orders. The orders come out within a descent amount of time. The food usually taste good. Last time we ate there I wasn’t impressed. This goes to show how a restaurant can have their good and not so good days.
We love Blue Sky! Staff is very attentive, specials are always available, food is always a good portion (you never leave hungry!) the pancakes are fluffy, the desserts are always fresh and the coffee always endless! ;) Great diner experience! We come at least once a month! Highly recommend the sweet tea too!!
I was driving through town looking for a local restaurant for lunch saw this place and pulled in. I had a Reuben and my wife had chicken tenders. We got good sized portions, especially with the tenders. The food was good and the service was great. They had good looking desserts but we were both full from the meal so we had to pass. Next time I will save room for dessert. I would recommend this place.
Food is always very good, service is excellent, staff very attentive to your needs. Covid restrictions are met ie tables are separated and wait staff are wearing masks. We frequent this restaurant about three times a month now that some of the restrictions have allowed us to return. We missed it for many months during the closings of restaurants.
Went for breakfast after making a quick trip to Elyria. I got 2 eggs over easy, rye toast, and bacon. The rye was a little overdone and bacon underdone. But that was my only complaint. My girlfriend got the granola pancakes and wow they were so good. I heard they had good pancakes prior to my visit. Clean well lit restraunt. I plan to return to try there lunch.
Service when we went was so so, we were sat pretty quickly but didnt have much attention paid to our table. It took a a while to get our drink orders in and attention after we were served, I had to ask for attention in order to get our bill. The food was really good with the exception of the toast they used on my wifes club sandwich (way over toasted bread to use in a sandwich, fine for serving as toast with a breakfast), the bread fell apart with her first bite. At the same time, you can tell they are using high quality ingredients. That being said, we were there during a Saturday lunch rush and I think our server was called in and we were here first customers of the day, which isnt the best time to visit when you want to leave a review.Long story short, Id go back; I have a strong feeling that we were in the right place at the wrong time. When I do go back, Ill update.Edit: Ive been ordering take out and every time I the food is hot, delicious and, there is plenty of it. I cant wait for the day when I can sit down here and have a proper meal.
Bluesky in Elyria is a really great place to eat. The prices are really good. The portions are huge. I usually order their french onion soup as it is my favorite.I usually always order the spinach salad w/ chicken and always extra bacon dressing as well.. My husband usually gets the Bacon burger and fries. We have never once had bad service. Their staff goes out of their way to accommodate. So your getting excellent service and excellent food for a decent price. Now since Covid19 we have ordered takeout a few times. The food is just as good and hot when it comes out. A couple small mistakes with our order like not getting extra bacon dressing and my coleslaw wasnt given to us. But I attribute that to a loud dining room with people there to pick up their orders and it being VERY difficult for the person taking the orders to hear. So I dont hold that against them.
I just cant get enough Blue Sky in Elyria! They literally have everything you can imagine on the menu & the prices are fair. Especially for the amount of food they give you. I like going out to eat & being absolutely full but still having leftovers for later. Something you just cant say for a lot of places. You definitely get more than what you pay for & what can I say about the food itself....well...its fantastic! Ive never tried anything off the menu I didnt like. Also the waiters & waitresses are very attentive. The place is always very clean as well.
The food that we ate at Blue Sky Restaurant was good and the plates were huge, plan on being hungry when you arrive! The place seems like it is very popular so be prepared to sit in and around a crowd of people.Their arent too many restaurants around that serve you breakfast, lunch and dinner any time of day so my entire family was very happy. This is a place that I will definitely come to again...
This should be 4.5 stars (if that worked) Its tough to give a perfect rating, especially when you know these people strive to achieve perfection. This restaurant could easily be a training ground for servers. The attention paid to customer service is phenomenal. The food is very good with generous portions and a great value. Desserts are great, stop in for coffee with cake or pie!
Food is good, portions are generous. Most servers are friendly and helpful. A few times there was an order mix up, but they are quick to correct it (in the restaurant). I suggest you check carry out orders before you leave the restaurant (female manager can be snarky).
I love blue sky its just feel good food. Its always super busy yet your food will always come out quickly and fresh. Ive experienced good things from elyria and Amherst location. They have a blue sky breakfast sandwich that is delicious and theyre pancakes are amazing. Good coffee too
Most excellent experience! Great food and perfect service!! Very busy for lunch but the staff was well educated in service! Clean restaurant. Lots of food for the buck! I got the special of cream cheese stuffed French toast with strawberries. Definitely would order it again. Thank you!
My family and I decided to check out Blue Sky as we were at a hotel for one night in Elyria...the food was Fantastic, and the amount of food we received for the value, was above all else. Kids got the chicken tenders, which almost looked like Chicken Breast tenders, HUGE...and my wife and I both got Saturday special items...salad, soup, side, main course...it was A LOT of Food. My family of 4 ate for right at $30 and we had a ton of leftovers that we took for the 2nd days travels. Highly recommend this place. Glad we found Blue Sky while we swung through town.
My experience here was awful. If there was a half of a star that wouldve been my choice. The food is cold and tastes like basement bar food at best, and thats after a good night! I really feel duped and disappointed. I thought the food was from scratch, a mom and pop place if you will. Live and learn I guess. The service here is slow to say the least I just had a manager walk by my table with two empty drinks at the end and didnt even ask us to refill very very very disappointed here!!!!!!!!
Great all around. The server we had was friendly, attentive and professional. Our food was amazing with giant portions (I highly recommend the Blue Sky Breakfast Buritto) and the atmosphere is relaxing and enjoyable. I tell all of my family and friends to go here for a nice meal out 👌
The wait staff was wonderful! There was 4 of us, we all got different meals and they were wonderful. For the price you get a lot of food. The only down fall was the lady who checked us out was not patient at all. She was very rude that we wanted to take cake home and it seemed like we were an inconvenience. Then my parents had a question (this was their first time there) she was very shirt and snatched the credit card machine from his hands and never answered their question. It only takes one person to ruin the entire meal and she did.
So many homemade items to choose from. French onion soup was absolutely stellar!! The veal parmesan was a platter portion. Soooo good!! Bread pudding was phenominal!! There are daily specials. Very affordable menu. Dine in. Carry out. Wheelchair accessible. Booths are separated by glass dividers. Tables are socially distanced. They also have a banquet area. If you have a group of more than 30 please call and talk to the manager to schedule a reservation due to the CoVid rules. Waitresses are very knowlegeable about the menu. Any questions just ask them. Restaurant is very clean. Plenty of parking.
Ok I ordered fish and chips... fish was pretty good and the fries were nice and crisp. The burgers looked well done and very large. Ok if you like red onions... never put red onions on a burger! Also never get what they call stuffing or dressing! It is disgusting! It tastes like regurgitated cow flop!
I found it truly odd that this time around the food was terrible at the blue sky in Elyria.Normally the food is delicious well seasoned and hot. The food was extremely salty, (and I love my salt!!!) Everything from the soup, gravy, to the stuffing was too, too salty. The food was served cold and the tomatoes were frozen, (yuck) the only good thing about our meal, that wasnt salty or frozen cold were the rolls and French fries; they were on point. Its one thing to have food well seasoned but its another to over salt to the point you cant enjoy what your eating!!!!!!!
Im here at the blue sky rest .in Elyria Ohio I had the meatloaf dinner with french fries that comes with three pieces of meat my mother had the rotisserie chicken half of it the coleslaw was very good headed little apples. I love this place so far big portions.our waitress satora is is a wonderful waitress. Definitely will be back again and again and again in fact two more weeks
Went for breakfast. I normally don’t do diners and I’ll tell you why. NOTHING is made from scratch. I often wonder why people think that it is scratch? Anyways sausage gravy was cold. Very little sausage and it was those little round things. Fries were the frozen super golden kind. Gross. Kids had burgers. Cheap bun, cheap frozen burger cooked on a flat top in its own grease. All bad.
Ordered bread pudding and when I got home it had green mold on it. Called the manager and no apology whatsoever. Complete attitude and rudely implied that I was lying. My intent was not to receive a free meal or even a replacement. I dont need to make up lies about a $3 dessert. It does reflect that you do not monitor the length of time food sits in your refrigerators. And that your restaurant does not value customer opinion or satisfaction.
I’ve got to agree with another reviewer. Why does everyone think these diners cook from scratch? Most buy low grade bulk food or ready to serve from food suppliers and just heat it up. My experience here was poor. The food didn’t have much taste. I had the meatloaf and it was dry. The potatoes tasted like instant and the gravy tasted out of a jar.
Planned a group dinner here about a year ago. Rented out the room with the buffet. We had a mixed group of ages with some little kids. The food was good, better then other places weve tried over the years. The one waitress that helped us with drinks ended up staying after she was off and colored with the kids and really just made their day. This is something that will make me want to plan something here again. I havent run into anyone who was rude or impatient, and when planning a group dinner sometimes that happens. Definitely satisfied with the service!

2022-06-11Had to ask for someone to take our order. Bin of dirty dishes on floor in kitchen right inside door & all staff had to step around it; why was it there & why wasnt it moved? Silverware was dirty, but readily replaced. Chicken & dumpling soup tasted fatty. Chicken breast sandwich was tasty. Dieters plate was fresh & to order with a nice variety. We would have ordered dessert if waitress had suggested it.

2022-04-02Great diversified menu. Quasadias great. Prime rib.. ehh. Too well done for Prime rib. Horse radish, awesome. Mashed potatoes good but should have been told or given choice with/without gravy. Server was good, but felt a bit robotic. Overall enjoyable.

2022-05-12I read reviews before going. I even told the person taking my order to please make sure everything was in my carryout order. I was assured that everything was there, I didnt check because the bags were tightly closed. Of course, things were not there. Food was just okay

2022-03-07My surprise 60th birthday party was held in their party room. Approximately 30 family members attended. Food was awesome, our waitress Emma G was wonderful and handled the entire party. Blue Sky has always been a favorite of mine and this experience was memorable

2022-03-19😝 yuck. Hash browns were chunks of uncooked potatoes in a nasty grease. Sausage patties were almost not cooked through. Bacon was paper thin little pieces. Service was great! Place was clean enough.
