The folx at this shop truly went above and beyond during the stay-at-home order to help me get my first bike since relocating to Cleveland, and totally proved exactly why they’re an essential business for life. James was able to determine exactly what I needed just from email correspondence and helped me pick out the perfect bike. Everyone working at the shop when I came to test ride and pick up the bike exemplified quality customer service and made me feel not only valued as a customer, but safe as a fellow human existing in public during a pandemic. 10/10 would buy bikes from them again and again.
I used to respect this business. But, after one initial good interaction I have now had several bad interactions. It seems as though they only care when you are making a large purchase, i.e. buying a new bike. I guess repeat business is not their main goal. When I bought my bike they told me I had 1 year to come in to receive 1 free professional tune up. I came to receive my tune up and purchase a few accessories including a rear rack. The person who helped me took my bike and rack and said they would call me when the tune up was done. No mention of the rack. When I returned I was charged a light cleaning fee and a rack install fee. Totaling $35. If they had told me my bike needed to be more clean and that there would be additional fees for the rack I would have gone back home and washed my bike and installed the rack myself as it is just a few screws and the holes are already there for it on the bike. But there was no communication about these up charges before the work was done and since the work was done I decided that I would pay and chalked that up to it being a young sales guy who wasnt skilled in customer interactions.Additionally, I told them I was having issues with my brake before the tune up. When the tune up was finished they said it was all good. I asked the guy what the issue was and he said something was loose. I asked him to show me where it was loose because as a newer bike owner, I want to learn some basic maintenance incase I get caught on a trail somewhere and need to temporarily fix something. His response was something along the lines of - well if you ever have an issue you just bring it in for a professional tune up and we will take care of it. OK but you cant even tell me what/where the problem was? That was when I really started to think what is with this place? So I took my bike away and now, after the professional tune up I have had to fix my brakes on my own 3 times because the same piece keeps getting loose. I learned on my own how to fix this issues bc I cant even ask the local bike shop where I purchased my bike and have continued to spend $100s after the fact wont even give me basic bike maintenance tips. That was a huge blow to my confidence in the business. Yet, I continued to patron them because I want to spend money locally and help local businesses.Which brings me to why I have finally decided to change my review from a 5 star to a 1 star. I went back in yesterday because my tire blew out on the trail over the weekend. I bought two new tubes (one to replace and one as a back up) as well as multiple other accessories. During the install I noticed the tire wasnt holding air. So I took the tube out and it had a hole in it. I went back to bring the defective tube. Well they told me they couldnt exchange it because it was out of the box and because it is their thought that it was the tire tool that caused the hole. OK thats a theory and its totally based on what their perception of what I would describe as an extremely light smudge near the hole. A smudge so light they literally had to blow the tire up way past regular size to even see. The tube is $8. I bought it yesterday. I also bought other items yesterday. For an $8 piece they wouldnt exchange it. You can tell me that you see it one way but that such a subjective outlook, you cannot tell me that there is no way the tube wasnt defective. And regardless of that fact, an $8 piece to exchange seems like a simple courtesy you would do for your customers if you valued them and their repeat business. So clearly I am not valued as a customer unless I am making a large purchase. I cant rely on your shop for basic maintenance tips and tricks. And the communication for what will be charged for services is not communicated upfront. Those are just too many reasons for me to want to come back and continue to spend money and continue to send my friends and family for purchases and services. I hope you can see this side of the coin and make the customer experience a higher priority in future interactions.
Took a detour on our way home to pick up a bike. Saw one online and when we inquired about it, it had been sold already, but James was very helpful and sent more options in our price range. When we got there, everyone was super friendly and funny. James helped us troubleshoot our space issue that we didn’t really think through and took the bike apart for us so we could bring it home. Thank you guys 🖤
Went in there with standard minor bike issues. Like another review says, they were snarky, “D”baggish, in that too cool for school kinda way. Every reply was riddled with micro aggressions or condescension because apparently being knowledgeable about bikes and selling them for the same price as a used car makes them better than people. There customer service is non existent, bedside manner abominable, and prices unreasonable! Do yourself a HUGE favor and google map the next bike shop and save yourself the bad vibes!
Fantastic shop! Blazing Saddle Cycle did a great job tuning up an older obscure German mountain bike. James was awesome – assessed all components, walked through repair/replace options and made bar/stem change suggestions to improve fit. Could not be happier with the improvements – feels like I got a new bike! I highly recommend Blazing Saddle Cycle.
This place is absolutely awesome! James is a beast! He turned my 1987 Lotus, yes I said 87, into a brand new bike. He brought it back from the grave. He treated it as if it was his bike. He really took the time to not only make it perfect, but also explain everything he did. I really appreciate it, and he has earned my future business. Go here, it is worth every dollar and then some. Sincere thanks.
I was there recently. I bought my ebike online but had a problem 6 months later. The seller sent me the part.... But I was on my own. This shop got me on the lift right away and installed the part (cadence sensor) cheap ($30)! I had them tune the bike and it rides better than new! When the wife is looking for an ebike next spring, this place will be first on my list! They carry a full line of bikes.
Was in Cleveland for a nice bicycle trip down to Washington DC. I needed a few things, and this was the closest shop to the train station so off I went. Very helpful staff and they have everything that you need. I even picked up one of their totally rad t-shirts!!! Got a history lesson when I was in the shop....The place was a hardware store back in the day!!!!! Thanks Dudes!!!
I had a middling experience at this shop. I didnt realize that I was not allowed to use the repair stand that was on the store side of the counter or the pumps in the store to repair a flat tire and I offended the two mechanics at the store. On the positive side, I did get what I needed at a fairly reasonable price. I probably wont go back there, but I was not mistreated.
This was one of the worst experiences of customer service I have ever dealt with in my life after owning my own restaurant for many many years it is number one on my list. You can ask anyone I am one of the nicest people on The planet. The two people that I delt with just trying to get a basic tuneup for my bikes were not only less than professional just downright mean. I would not recommend them to anyone. What makes it even more of a disheartening thing is that I heard about them through somebody and just happen to be driving by and was excited to see what they could do. Perhaps buy a mountain bike. Its definitely not the way that you create more business. From one business owner to another you should probably change your attitude and learn how to deal with people.
Unless you’re some yuppie with rich parents, be prepared to get turned away. -_- the other day I tried to get a bike looked at to make it somewhat mobile to get to and from work till I can afford a better bike and they made me feel belittled. MIND YOU I do have cash to make it work, I’ve had the bike for awhile and knew what I needed, but you made me out to seem silly and sent me on the way. I went to another bike shop on Lorain, they helped me and understood the struggle. My bike is now getting me to work safe and sound. So blazing saddles can kick rocks. 👎
I drove 30 mins here. They have nothing online about having to make an appointment ahead of time and told me to come back another day. They were rude about it. I asked them if they wanted to sell a bike today and they told me no, that I had to make an appointment. Never again. What a waste of time driving here.
I am new to the bicycle game. I was gifted a road bike and brought it in to blazing saddles for a tune-up and they were very quick and very helpful. I have since had a couple of other pieces of work done to the bike at their shop and they have always been friendly and professional.
Blazing Saddle Cycle is unparalleled in service quality, inventory, location and knowledge of their products. Additionally, one is drawn in by the overall pleasing aesthetic and eclectic vibe of a truly hip joint with an historical (read: mysterious) sensibility. Plus they do, as their placard outside reads, have a Really cool dog.
Rude dont want business dont answer what u ask tell u what to do with your money simple question how much something tell u what worth doing with your money if wanted new bike would asked how much for one if ask how much part should just answer question not bout what u should do or what my bike worth when what u doing is fixing bike if can get another would ask about parts to fix if they not doing work on bike not gone get answer rite. Just rude

2020-06-27I am so grateful James was able to schedule me in when I spontaneously decided to purchase a bike one week before leaving town. The guys at Blazing Saddles are professional, knowledgeable, and truly passionate about what they do. My only heartbreak was Randy. The fickle pup spurned my affection attempts in favor a nap. Note to self: bring bribery next time. Thank you, James and Jeremy, for fostering my wanderlust.

2020-06-26Great shop with knowledgeable staff (and sweet dog!). They fixed my handcycle, which is not an easy task, by working with the manufacturer and coming up with a better solution than how the bike was upon arrival. I no longer have the same issues than before seeking their help. Highly recommend!

2021-09-02I had an excellent experience with the guys here. Very straightforward and worked quickly to get a busted bike into riding shape. Communicative through the whole process and beginner friendly as well. Encouraged me to come back in after putting some time on the bike to make sure nothing had shifted out of place, something I otherwise would not have considered. Shop is very well stocked as well. Great experience overall, nothing but good things to say

2018-05-26After 23 years off a bike, James and the boys built me a bike thats rekindled my love of pedaling. Service is top-notch and Ive never once been treated anything less than great at BSC. Thats why I pass several other bike shops and drive from Lake County whenever I need parts or service.
