Not only were the people who worked here over moon friendly, but the place was clean and the coffee....oh let me tell you about the coffee. Out the thousands of cups of coffee I have had in my short time on this planet, definitely the best Ive ever had was here at this place. Definitely come through!
Ive always wanted to visit a coffee house and I feel we made the perfect choice for our coffee date 🥰 The staff was wonderful. They gave great conversation and suggestions. The atmosphere was great as well. It was pretty laid back and they were playing music but it wasnt the radio (which was great). We especially enjoyed the sign about sanitizing your hands when entering the premises. The vegan chia muffin and apple turnover are divine!!! We ordered 2 more before leaving.. We cant wait to go back.
I went to Black Coffee Lounge for the first time today with my niece and sister. The service was amazing and the drinks were delicious! The young lady who took our coffee order was so sweet and provided a recommendation of one of her favorite drinks the Ooh Wee, which we ordered. The young lady who made our drinks was very sweet and brought them over to us. If you havent been I definitely recommend checking them out!
This place is the place. The smells will wake up all your senses. The baked goods and pastries are so beautiful and perfect that you dont want to mess them up by taking a bite. But you wont be able to resist yourself They have a vegan pumpkin muffin that customers rave about then have an array of choices in coffee and drinks to get your morning started with. Every thing is priced well. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The art is gorgeous. Such good vibes inside. The best thing though was the friendly staff. They really make you feel welcomed. If you go to that other corporate place to get your coffee.. oreven if you dont like coffee you can find something for you.. Come here and give this place a chance.See what buying local means and how much more you can get for your money. Come and see this great place in your community. Every time I get coffee here, the staff are very friendly, the shop is clean and attractive, and the coffee itself is excellent. The service is quick, too, so I know I can stop in for a quick drink if Im on a time crunch. Highly, highly recommend this place.

The lounge set up reminds me of the café from friends (tv show). The Black Coffee Lounge gives off strong vibes of neo soul, free spirited, inclusive Urbancana, community oriented. The Pink Rose Lemondae Tea (Herbal Tea) was good. The artwork on the walls is awe-inspiring and refreshing. They sell Black Coffee Lounge T-shirts and a variety of 🍰 pastries. BCL is located right on the corner. Its perfect if youre on foot. If not prepare to pay to park.

This place I tried for the 1st time I door dashed and tried the Chai muffin and pumpkin muffin all vegan OMG best baked goods I have ever tried definitely recommend and will order from here! Amazing baker compliments to the baker. I have not ever had the most moist flavorful baked goods and it really makes me appreciate there TLC in there food.
Black Coffee never dissapoints. Even during a pandemic. Super friendly baristas. I always get a Chai tea latte with a pastry. Always delicious. Just what I need to keep me going while giving a boost of consistent familiarity. I take my order home obviously now or eat in the car, but the same, amazing smells of nutmeg swirling in my cup and savory taste of a warmed up pastry takes me back to those same good vibes I used to feel while sitting inside for hours studying. LOVE this place and the way they make me feel.
This is the most positive upbeat coffee shop Ive ever walked into! The service, coffee and vibe are all fantastic. They are also taking great covid safety steps which is very much appreciated! Highly recommend you make a stop here when in OTR.
I live downtown, and I order this place for breakfast at least 2-3 times a week. Minimum. I always get a different coffee (trying to taste them all) and have yet to have a bad one. And always order two buttered croissants, toasted of course, and they’re absolutely amazing. Buttery Crispy outside, soft, warm inside. Just smashed my Swirl Latte and two croissants. Incredible. Apple turnover? Banging. Muffins? You can bet on it, my G. This place goes crazy. Always a perfect start to da day when I order here. Love y’all.

Working downtown Cincinnati, its not too many places you can go and feel comfortable. The woah ice coffee was great and the pesto fetta pasta was TOP of the charts. When walking in I was greeted and it was so WARM. Felt right at home.

Picked up an order this morning for our office & it is hands down our new favorite spot!! We got iced coffees, a hot latte, a bagel, both of the quiche, and the oatmeal cookie..... all of it is so so so good. The team working couldnt have made me feel more welcome. I’ve done several deliveries for this business and every time I go in there I get the most professional customer service! All the employees are very friendly and welcoming. They always get orders ready in a timely manner and if there is going to be a wait, they make sure you know and they don’t just leave you hanging like most of the restaurants I’ve delivered for. I’m happy to make deliveries for this business.
I was a first time visitor to Cincinnati from Canada and we happened upon this place while wandering around. Its a shame it was during covid since the staff were extremely friendly and went above and beyond. Everyone working there clearly very proud of what they do, and that made a lasting impression. Thank you so much for making it such a positive experience for us -- well be back!(It also helps that the House blend is superb, a bit of a shame we only got one bag).
The vegan chai muffin I had was outstanding. And our group loved the real taste of their coffee drinks. They use Monin syrups which make all the difference and it was refreshing to have someone actually glad you choose their shop over someone else, customer service is an art and these ladies were so sweet. Sadly we couldnt sit inside and enjoy or time there, but it was worth going.
I finally made it to blaCk Coffee! I always get a cappuccino at a new coffee shop & the one the baristas made me was PERFECT. I cannot wait to go back and try all of the different options they have to offer! The vibe of the lounge is super cool & Im really looking forward to the time (post social-distancing) that Ill be able to enjoy my coffee in the shop. In the meantime, the ladies who were there were doing and excellent job of maintaining appropriate distancing measures from the customers, wearing masks, and asking the customers do the same. I HIGHLY recommend getting your caffeine fix here.
I didn’t have time to stop and make myself a cup of coffee this morning so I decided to visit blaCk. I ordered a large drip coffee, “Wakanda”, and a warmed butter croissant. When I tell you this was the best cup of coffee I’ve had in a while, TUH! I mean it. The coffee was so good that I will now be implementing weekly coffee shop visits to blaCk and treat myself to a delicious cup of drip coffee. The croissant was heavenly, flaky and buttery and paired so well with my fruit bowl.The prices were great, the atmosphere was amazing, cleanliness was off the charts, and the professional warm demeanor enveloped me in a bear hug as soon as I walked in. I cannot recommend this coffee shop enough.

Went for the first time. Very warm greeting. Shared good conversation about beverages and another local business. Employee made suggestions to modifying my drink. Suggestions were welcomed. Entrance/ exit strategy a little confusing, along with quantity allowed to enter. Overall pleasant experience.
I love the aesthetics of this place! blaCk Coffee always delivers excellent service each time I visit. Reasonable prices. The chai tea is my favorite, and Im happy that they offer non-dairy options. Im happy to spend my money towards Black Businesses in Cincy!
I truly wish I could give blaCk coffee lounge a 20 star review. What a wonderful, hip-hop inspired vibe. Cant say enough good things about the baristas and their top-notch customer service! The carmel and chocolate swirled coffee and banana nut muffin were the bomb. I love supporting small, black-owned businesses. I will definitely return!

This place has an upbeat vibe. When I went it was busy and had that coffee shop hum. The service was excellent and both the coffee and juices were delightful. The juices are handmade and cold pressed in shop. Support your communities black owned businesses! Anytime I am downtown, this is must visit.

Finally made my way down to otr to get coffee here and it was well worth it. the workers were so kind and patient, my bf barely drinks coffee and they helped him find a drink he ended up loving! very cool coffee shop, make the trip for it, it’s worth it.we both got iced coffee, mine was plain with vanilla and his was with caramel and heavy cream. tasted amazing, the coffee was so smooth. the trouble with most iced coffees is they end up super bitter but it wasn’t bitter at all! i just wish i lived closer so i could make a daily shop for me!
We love Black Coffee! The only issue we have is that we cant use our own cups/travel mugs and the throwaway cups are not recyclable or compostable. Other coffee shops will make the coffee in a small single serve carafe, then pour it into our cups without the need to touch anything. Otherwise, great coffee, great vibe, very friendly!
This coffee shop has a lot to offer in downtown Cincinnati. They make delicious coffee drinks and have solid breakfast options. The owners are hardworking and they are supportive of our communities homeless population which is near and dear to my heart.

The coffee is delicious and there are a lot of unique options! Have not tried the food yet but it looks delicious as well. If you go I highly suggest the lavender late, it will become your favorite!

The staff were so very friendly and helpful. They welcomed us and explained questions we had. I got the cortado and they knew exactly how it should be made, which I always love to see. Will definitely be coming back when I am in the area again.
I just moved across town from east CBD to west CBD. My daughter and I just visited for our first time today. No current dine in due to covid so we carried out. We were welcomed with friendly open arms! Delishhhh coffee and tea, blueberry muffin and croissant. Locally owned art lovers! I will return often. Support local! Support arts! Didnt have the best experienve here. In order to keep everyone safe, the business only allows two customets in at a time. Went here with a friend and was shivering outside in 40/45 degree weather. Two customers being helped ordered their drinks and began to drink them, then started browsing at the shirts and hoodies (which they ended up not purchasing). The enployees and the customers saw my friend and I waiting outside shivering for 7 + minutes, but did not care. We ended up leaving in shock and disappointment. I have visited several other coffee shop/cafe small businesses, and Black Coffee is by far has the strictest policies. I understand their goal to keep everyone safe but what I disagree with is being inconsiderate of customers waiting outside on the cold while others are just playing around inside after being served their drinks. I highly encourage they consider moving the rack of clothes outside near the tables whenever its not raining nor snowing so that customers can browse without holding up others who are serious about purchasing.
The staff is very friendly and patient. Plenty of options for vegetarians and vegans. Theres a very cozy, calming ambience as soon as you step in and the immediate area around is nice to sit and chat at. Prices are fair especially considering its a locally owned business.
First time being in! Amazing coffee shop with extremely friendly staff. there is such a nice atmosphere and you could easily spend all day there talking with someone. Also the coffee was amazing. I got the swirl latte with oat milk and i can easily say it’s one of the best drinks i’ve ever had. It was creamy and so so so smooth (i think it’s probably the smoothest latte i’ve ever had). I was worried about the flavoring being too much and overpowering the espresso, but there was such a good balance. Some of the best espresso i have ever had. The dark chocolate paired so well with their espresso and the caramel offered such a nice sweetness. Easily tied for one of the best lattes i’ve ever had (and i’m a barista myself which says a lot). I’m gonna have to be back soon!

Stopped in here before a city hall meeting. Exciting to see a quality coffee shop on this side of downtown. Great service, vibe and an excellent cortado. Bonus: they assumed the drink was “for here” instead of to go. That’s good service. Coffee is meant to be in a proper mug, not in a paper cup.
Can you say good vibes? Enjoyed a great poetry show with a packed house. Tons of positive energy and beautiful people. And on a week night! Enjoyed myself, and I went by myself! Definitely recommended, and it wont be my last visit!

Loved every second I was in this place. The baristas were extremely nice and gave me suggestions since i don’t like coffee. The juices are DELICIOUS!! Beautiful decor, R&B tunes that we’re just the right volume, and comfy seating options. It’s located on the corner with lots of windows to let in all of the natural light. Free WiFi too! Great place for studying, light leisurely reading, a group meeting, or a first date. Highly recommend!

I stopped in with a friend this morning for a Friday pick me up and had an amazing experience. Ive driven past several times but never stopped in.Covid precautions:They were allowing two people in at a time and only with masks. You ordered from over 6 feet away from the baristas and could pay with a wireless card reader by the door so it was truly contactless. We then waited outside for our drinks so more people could go in and order. They called our names to go get the drinks when they were ready. I was very impressed with the process and flow.Staff:I think the girls working was the best part! They were so bubbly and kind. I felt so welcomed from the moment I walked in. They kindly helped us make selections, gave advice and explained the process to us. They thanked us for coming in and for our patience. Their energy totally made my day and gave me the pep I needed to get through it.Selection / Ambiance:The drink and pastry menu was large without being TOO overwhelming. They have all the coffee shop classics with a few house specialties. Lots of non-dairy options as well. We didnt get to stay and chill in the space because of covid, but it looked cozy and inviting with lots of seating.Food/Drink:I got an iced woah! with 1% milk. It is an iced latte with caramel and vanilla. Im a barista myself and am ALWAYS impressed by shops that get the right milk texture in an iced drink. I think they may have frothed the cold milk which is a great touch. You can tell they care about what theyre making. The banana nut muffin was delish too. I went home and warmed it up but they may do that for you if you stay, Im not sure.Cant wait to go back!
I like this place. Food options were limited but I didnt mind. Maybe once the pandemic is completely over, there will be more to choose from. My son and I got an iced coffee and a muffin. Will visit again soon.

I got the Wakanda brew which, honestly, I didnt absolutely love, but Im also not very good at tasting coffee. Its a little acidic but the lounge is really cool and I enjoy how it focused on community in the artwork. The music is primarily black/people of color artists which is probably my favorite part of the lounge. I wish more coffee shops had a clear mission like this one does.

Fantastic place to hang while supporting a local business!+ High outlet to seat ratio: 18 outlets for 30 seats+ good wifi+ natural light floods in through large windows taking up 2 or the 4 walls+ fun music+ movable tables for groups+ my drink was good, no latte art though+ I really enjoy the permanent and temporary art+ clean bathroom+ friendly staff- stools’ height are adjustable but crooked & uncomfortable- skinny table by window with stools is sticky- sofas with low backs are not comfortable for for slouching in which is what I enjoy- no bike parking+ community table (two movable tables) available for reservation

OK this was my 1st time here. I was not sure what to get. They suggested some lemonade tea. I was skeptical but I figured if they suggested it it should be good. I was wrong. I will never try that again. However, I got 2 muffins because I couldnt resist the urge to try them both. I got the Vegan Chai and Vegan Pumpkin. They were both delicious 😋 but the Pumpkin was my favorite. There was a crust at the bottom and it was so moist. They both were moist but the pumpkin left the impression. I cant wait until the pandemic is over to i can fully experience the place. Go get the 🎃 muffin you will thank me for it.

I was able to come on the opening day. Black Coffee Lounge is a effort to diversify the coffee culture of Cincinnati by creating a space in the heart of downtown for anyone to come and work, talk, and occasionally listen to live music. It also helps that they use the best coffee roaster in the region (La Terza Roasterie) to provide custom blends specific to Black Coffee Lounge.
The coffee is good. I often visit cafes with my children, one of which is allergic to many things, so I appreciate they have vegan pastries.

This coffee shop allowed a thief to paint a mural on their wall and Disregarded his character after being toldOf his actions. Seems unprofessional and a let down for the city of Cincinnati that they awarded a local thief and represent him when they could’ve used an artist who betters the community.

2022-04-21UPDATE: I visited a lot over the past year that I first left the review. Trying to cut back and hadnt been for a while. Saw some new faces and they were still extremely pleasant! The fact that they come around the counter and bring you your coffee, even if youre taking out is top notch service imo. Pics are the swirl latte cold brew 😍The ladies here are amazing!! They are always so sweet, and work so hard. Love this place! Ive had several things from the menu, and they were all great!

2021-04-21Absolutely enjoyed stopping into Black Coffee Lounge. Everyone was very nice and helpful when ordering. Excellent Covid protocol and even better chai tea latte. The artwork inside both in pieces and on the wall were awesome. I will absolutely stop in again when back in Cincinnati.

2020-07-07I saw that they were a black owned coffee shop and I wanted to try it. It has the feel of any other coffee shop but it has soul. There’s black artist and other paintings on the walls. It’s nice. Due to COVID-19 regulations, you can’t sit down inside and only 2 people are allowed inside at all times. Mask are required or no service. The two ladies working were nice and very helpful.I got the iced coffee with caramel syrup and half and half. It taste great and I liked how smooth the coffee taste was. I also ordered the herbal tea unsweetened and a red velvet cookie. Highly recommend the tea though. It has the minty freshness to it that I really liked. All in all it’s great coffee shop. Hopefully when Rona is over, I will be able to sit inside and enjoy the scenery.

2020-10-06This was an awesome experience! Both employees were super polite and kind! Even though it was our first time, they made us feel like weve been there 1,000 times. The coffee was amazing! I got a white choc Americano and I didnt need to have it altered. It was perfect. I will definitely be coming back and I most certainly will recommend this place to friends, family or complete strangers. 😊 One of the employees heard why we came(because they had one of the highest reviews in the area) and he said, Wow, well I hope we will live up to that! You guys most certainly did! ********** Out of ***** 👍
