Not good. We’ve have Barrio a few times at different locations and I remembered it being great. We ordered pick-up. I ordered mahi mahi taco and chorizo tacos. Received two tacos with just lettuce and salsa, the tacos were missing the meat. My husbands tacos hardly had any meat in them either. Probably won’t order at this location again.
The food at this place is amazing !! Tacos !! Birria tacos !! Superb , Kent is a college town , overall you can find great food at this restaurants, you can make your own as well , every table has plexiglass it is safe to go in. Here ! Jajajajjaaja , this joint s always clean , remember this is a college town , it’s noisy sometimes , during the day and at night ‘ if you looking for a quite place this is not your kind , Ohio is a state that there is a lot of breweries , beers like thirsty dog , Great Lakes. Etc , foodies love this kind of non franchise places ! Come one now !!! Birria tacos , mmmmmm you’ll love this place ! Amd in the summer you can walk around the path ! Kayaks , runners sometimes they have around this neighborhood local vendors outside ! Real cute !!!
Crowded, but only had to wait 15 minutes for a table...not bad. Waitress was not very engaging or suggestive on items even though we asked some questions. Food took a long time to arrive...actually, most every table seemed to get their food at the same time...odd .The food itself was delicious!!! Extremely fresh...even the pico de gallo had no liquid in it, so we knew it was super fresh. Tortilla chips get an A+. Love the bowls and the onion and peppers, meat (had chicken with spice rub...not too spicey) and aioli saucewere deliciosas!!!
Super festive atmosphere, excellent service, and fantastic food. We tried 7 different tacos, all delicious and made to our taste. The guacamole is so fresh and tasty and the salsa and nachos were also great and replenished often. The drink menu was really fun and we tried a variety of margaritas, all great. Definitely a place to revisit often with affordable prices.
After visiting all other Ohio Barrio locations it was nice to get one a lot closer to home. Upon arriving I was told an hour wait, which actually ended up being 30 minutes. Overall the food was what I expected from any other Barrio location, great. If you are comfortable with waiting for a table it’s absolutely worth visiting.
We ordered Door Dash delivery from the Kent location and we’re sorely disappointed. Our food was $42 and with the exception of the one person who ordered 3 tacos everyone was disappointed. The bowls the rest of us ordered were disappointingly small. There was almost no rice and I had to search for the few shreds of lettuce. Thankfully we had leftover rice to add to the bowls to make it an acceptable meal.
We’ve been to Barrio in Cleveland numerous times but this was our first trip to Barrio Kent. The service was a little lacking, it took about 15 minutes to get our drinks. In their defense they were very busy and had only been open a couple weeks. The food for the most part was pretty good. Hopefully the space can grow into itself and capture more of that Barrio vibe.
The food was absolutely horrible and the salsa was pretty much ketchup. I feel they are trying too hard with tacos. They were very salty as well. I got the blackberry lemonade cocktail I could not taste blackberry or lemonade it was all bourbon and it was horrible I couldn’t even enjoy it. Our server took a bit to even give my husband his beer. If you’re looking for good tacos this is not the place to go. the place right down the street was better than this. Shout out to frescoes for saving us!!!
I love Tacos! How can you mess up tacos?Fist time eating at Barrio in Kent. The guacamole was salty and Whatever spices they use were not mixed up. I requested to get some new guacamole and they told me they make it in large batches -so if I didn’t like the first one I would like any of it. The pineapple salsa was just little chunks of pineapple that was fairly flavorless.Ordered a bowl with short ribs - meat was cold. The entire thing was awful.Waitress never once refilled water.I cannot understand why people like this place. Tacos from Costco are way better. Tacos from the taco truck are way better. Tacos at most restaurants are better than this and this is a taco place. I didn’t drink so I’m assuming the draw must be there alcoholic beverages because it certainly isn’t their tacos.
It was fantastic yesterday. The tacos were huge and delicious. The queso was fresh and our waitress was attentive. My wife and I were worried the quality had gone downhill and hadnt been to Barrio in a long time, we usually go to the downtown Cleveland one of University Heights. Kents Barrio was great.
Came from out of state to visit some family and wanted a nice place to eat so I asked around and settled on Barrio.I’ll keep it simple and short just like our waitress. Chips were stale, Queso dip had a film over it like it had been sitting for way to long, salsa had no flavor at all (at least to me), no burritos? Kinda weird but I figured I could find something else. Only thing that seemed good was a rice bowl. Bowl was served Luke warm. My partners bowl was actually cold and had things she didn’t even order in it.Our waitress asked us our drink orders (4 people) and forgot came back and asked again. After we got our drinks the only other time we saw her was when she refilled our drinks and she didn’t say a word. When we were ready to leave it took her what felt like for ever to come and check us out.Sucks this was our first time Experience.
Barrio Kent is a must-visit when youre in the area, even more so when youre in the mood for quality Mexican food. It can get quite crowded at times, but that fact speaks to the restaurants quality. The staff is kind and helpful, and the general atmosphere of the establishment gives off a nice, relaxing feeling to its many frequent customers. All in all, an easy recommendation for a quality dining experience.
Showed up at 6:30, 4 of us waiting for a table. We waited outside for an HOUR when we were quoted 35 minutes. Im pregnant and literally due next week so I didnt appreciate the incorrect time quote but I was patient.. We sit down and I order a queso dip with our drinks. It never came out but was on my check. We waited for 45 minutes for our food and it was all barely warm. The server explained that the kitchen was slow tonight but I spent 2.5 hours waiting to eat at this place and I dont really think thats excusable no matter how slow the kitchen is. Towards the end of our meal I was left hanging because our server took my glass of water and never bothered to bring another one. She was nice but messed up all 4 of our tickets and we were left waiting for a long long time. The business seemed to slow down as we were eating so Im not sure if the server had too many people in her section or what but I was extremely patient with her because I have worked in the food industry for a decade. I was not pleased at all with my experience here at Barrio, this was my first time being here and I think it will be my last unfortunately. Had the food been warm or even hot, I would understand. But none of our food was warm and to wait that long for cold food, thats just unacceptable, especially after driving 40 minutes to eat here.
I’ve never left a bad review for anything but my waiter was so absent I couldn’t get anything corrected while I was there. It took almost half an hour for someone to take our drink order, I got the marigold and it was horrible, the bartender needs trained because that’s just bad business to load a drink up with tequila like that, it tasted like jet fuel, not only did I not order another, I couldn’t drink the one I had, completely wasted $9. I couldn’t even have it fixed because the waiter never came back, he dropped our food off and rushed away, I tried to get his attention but he didn’t hear me. I didn’t get one of the tacos I ordered, I figured I didn’t need it anyway, but they still tried to charge me for it. There was a wait to get in on a Sunday afternoon, this is clearly a place that makes good money and can afford to hire the appropriate amount of staff, or take the time to train their staff.
Arrived at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon. Place was mildly busy. They were out of many popular beers. It took well over an hour for a handful of cold, unremarkable tacos to arrive at our table. The waiter said they were short staffed. There are many better options within a few minutes drive. Hopefully, they get their act together. Otherwise, Barrio will end up like so many other failed eateries in Kent.
This place scares me away a bit due to always being packed full of people, and we dont want to wait a long time to eat. However I did notice they expanded their seating area so I think they realized theres a need for more space. The one time we did come here was OK but not great. It feels like the menu was trying too hard to be unique or different, but we just want normal Mexican food prepared well. I am happy to see they are successful, but these would be my recommendations. Also whatever it is they served during the Chocolate Walk was unbelievably good (I think fried donuts with chocolate). Wow, I was seriously blown away by those.
The food is great when warm. Most times I order pickup the food is cold or lukewarm at best. When I eat there in person sit down style the service is always impeccable though.Overall Id say its great, just dont order online directly through them. Youll likely be disappointed. But its worth the wait in person.
The food was alright it did not have much flavor the queso was the best part of our experience honestly. On the other hand, the worst part was our waiter was extremely slow she only filled up our drinks once in the hour we had been there. The only other time she was at our table was to hand us our bill and to collect our money. She also took a good 15 minutes to return with our change it was all very frustrating and it was not an experience that I would recommend at all. Someone else had brought us our food and was very nice I believe he was a manager.
I took a taco with corn, pan seared portobellos, chihuahua cheese, caramelized onions, cilantro, onions, salsa verde, salsa roja, barrio secret sauce.I liked the ambience and the music. The food looked good but wasn’t as expected. It had a faint bitter taste. I did not like the attire of the personnel, a uniform would look much better and of course a mask would be good. The lady was polite and extended very good hospitality. Price is to portion ratio is exactly one!Multi visit- definitely suggested!
Its a decent place. I had a chorizo taco on a soft corn tortilla. It was not too strong but was a very generous portion. I also had a short rib taco. It was also a generous portion but on the bland side. It was tender and juicy. I had a few different sauces, none of which really did anything for me. The chips were good, and the salsa was just okay for my taste. Service was fine and the decor is a bit noisy. Prices were great. Id eat there again when in town.
This taco place offers pretty good food and pretty good service, especially in an area with a lot of other taco options.Their build your own taco system has many fantastic options, and theyre clearly going for an upscale type of taco without completely breaking budgets. Their sauce options help set them apart with their own productions that create a unique and worthwhile experience. The staff were nice, and the location was clean. The wait time for service and seating was average and not a problem.Id recommend this if youre a big taco fan, and want something you cant really find anywhere else.
The food is great the phone help sucks. I had this food for the first time at progressive field. I tried to call the kent location to see about ordering take out chicken nachos and tacos and no one knows if its the same as progressive field location or if I can do take out . Very frustrating.
As a Kent resident and frequent barrio visitor, i hate to do this but I’ve given chance after chance. I do not know if it has to do with hiring college aged children but it’s very sad how this service can ruin a business. Waited over an hour to get seated and when we checked to see our place in line, our name magically disappeared off the list? Waiting more than an hour for a few COLD tacos seems insane to me. The margaritas are a rip off, made different every time and cannot taste any alcohol. I am so dissatisfied and disappointed in this company. Either lose door dash, or hire new and better people to serve your company to the best. This is absolutely ridiculous, i will not be coming back for a very long time. Half tempted to call John Taffer! Something has to help this sad excuse for a restaurant.
Worth the wait. Went with my wife and daughter and we waited for about 45 mins.. Just chilled outside on some benches. Was a nice night so no big deal. Had to sit at the bar which we werent thrilled with but ended up being great. The bartender made me a nice margarita and we all loved our food. Food was excellent! Going back for sure!
I came here with my friend & wondered why my food seemed more expensive than usual. We asked the waitress & she said that rice is now $1 & tacos are now $3.50 instead of $3.00. However, our menu did not say this. The waitress said “oh yeah we changed our prices & this menu shouldn’t be on your table, it’s an old menu”, then proceeds to give the menu back to us to put back on the table. Was a little annoyed because the old menu does not have an extra charge for rice, and the tacos say $3, not $3.50. Not the biggest deal, but I feel like the menus should have been removed from the table since they’re not accurate.
When my wife and I went, it was too loud and over an hour wait. Of course it was Valentine’s weekend, but still, I didn’t expect that kind of shenanigans happening at a taco joint. Can’t really say much about the food, because we had our tacos boxed up after only eating chips and salsa. Although, when their food truck came to cater at my workplace, I thought the food was good. Right now I’m reserving judgment for hopefully a better experience next time.
We were not impressed with the food. The Paddy taco was surprisingly good, but the other food was very bland and tasteless. The portions for the price are small, especially the sides of rice and beans. Would not recommend. Very expensive for what you got. Need to have more food without any bacon or pork products.
Unlike other reviews, we actually had no problem with a long wait time. Our servers were friendly and answered our questions with ease. Our tacos, on the other hand, were extremely cold and extremely bland. I ordered a build your own taco with the marinated steak and mango habanero sauce but somehow there was no flavor or heat at all. Its a shame as this was my first Barrio experience, but from now on Ill be going to the Cleveland location instead as Ive heard nothing but good things.
I’ve been here a many times and it has been consistently disappointing. The queso and guacamole are always great, I’ll give them that. But the orders are wrong EVERY SINGLE time! I’ll either get something I didn’t even order or doesn’t have everything I wanted. It’s not like I order a bunch of difficult tacos, they don’t even make the general menu tacos right.Today was the last straw, as we went for brunch. It wasn’t packed and we got sat at a table that had no space. It was shoved between a wall and plexiglass. You couldn’t hear the server and they had to keep reaching over one of us, since the glass was in the way of the table... And of course, the order was wrong again.
I love barrio! I often go to the one in Cleveland but Kents is much much closer to home. Last time I came to this location, everyone was incredibly pleasant and helpful but this time I went, the young college females working as servers and first point of contact were either on their phone texting or being incredibly rude. That type of behavior makes me feel unwanted, a bother and makes me not even want to eat here and to go elsewhere to spend my hard earned money. Please manager have a chat with your young ladies. I definitely think this needs to be addressed ASAP.
So my boyfriend and I decided to order from here last night.First, they forgot to add the drinks to our original order so he had to get that fixed. Then he gets home with our food and we realize that there were several ingredients missing from the bowls we ordered so he calls and explains what was wrong and how to make it right. He goes back to Barrio is retrieve our new food and our money back for the inconvenience only to over hear as he was leaving “oh he just wanted money and extra food”.Very rude & unprofessional! They better be glad I wasn’t with him.News flash Barrio, if we wanted our money we would’ve never spent it.We are never coming back!
6pm: put name on list. 7pm hosts are rude and unhelpful. 7:20pm spoke with manager about wait time. 7:30pm: Yah...uh...still waiting. 7:45pm seated. 8pm: food ordered. Friendly waitress. 8:23pm food brought out. Most of us did the build your own tacos. Flavors are good. Taco ingredients are cold including the tortilla. 8:45pm checks.Overall review is 2 stars. Although waitress gave us 5 star service! She was the only redeeming part that brought the review from 1 star to 2 stars. Next time Ill go to Chipotle, get my food in 15 minutes, and eat warm food.
I have tried so many taco places around the USA and Barrio still takes the top spot. Their special sauce is delicious and I love the Tuscan guacamole. Happy hour is fantastic here and it goes much later than other restaurants so you can site down and enjoy multiple margaritas.
I was a big fan of Barrio and frequented the Lakewood and downtown Cle locations, was super excited for one to be closer to me... until I discovered that they changed their salsa and guac recipes. The salsa was so good. I don’t know what they changed, but it’s awful now, and it was half the reason I would go to Barrio. I know it wasn’t a mistake during my last visit either because previously I had bought a jar of it and it tasted the same. I’ll go to somewhere else that doesn’t cheap out on ingredients and change a recipe. Oh, and you won’t find any comments on their social media posts about this change, because they delete every comment I’ve made about it.
Came here on a Saturday night after being out in Kent and just wanted to grab some tacos quick before heading back home. We get there around 1:40 am and it was still pretty busy (they stop seating at 2 am). We get seated very quickly with no problem. Long story short, we left at 2:20 am without ever being acknowledged once by any servers, didn’t get to place orders, and never even got waters. The staff acted as if they were just ignoring us on purpose so that we would leave and not have to serve us. I’ve been to this barrio many times and have always really liked it, but the way the servers acted this night was just plain rude.
The food depends on what you get. The tacos were nothing special, but not bland either. The free chips and salsa when we sit down is always nice. He even offered and brought another basket of chips. And the queso dip is very good. You can make your own taco was a good amount of choices. The service was friendly. He was there when we needed questions, but did not over stay to an awkward point. The actual place is kinda small and very loud. We couldnt hear other talking when we were 2 ft away. You can not make reservations (which seems like a bad idea). It does get very crowded there. But its a college town and they appeal to them.We tried this place, was no where near as good as people were saying, but not trash either. We will not be back again because its not for us. But you might like it.
Ive been to several other Barrios, so I know how good it can be. Give the Kent location a few months to figure things out before giving it a try.. The food is subpar at best for Barrio, probably because it takes over an hour to get your tacos on a weekend night (happened twice with a table of 4). I know they are busy, and the staff is all new, but the kitchen is so slow it brings the whole experience down. The drinks are as good as the other locations, so if you only want to get a drink and smell cookies (the Insomnia Cookie must vent directly into Barrio), youre set.
Everything is delicious, their salsa is smokey and addicting, tofu is on point, I got the El Diablo margarita is it was also great and not too sweet. Only downside is it is a little loud in there and busy and it kind of seemed like the waitresses were assigned too many tables, they were super busy and it was a little hard to get their attention when they forgot a few things, but they were super nice when we did and fixed it right away!
Newly opened, so they still need to sort out the kinks, but the food is predictably delicious, same as all the other locations. Crazy long wait for tables and ridiculously slow kitchen service, but again, theyve just opened recently. The staff is friendly and the margaritas are delicious, so its really no big deal to wait unless you really have someplace else youve just got to be at a certain time.
The wait was over an hour. The atmosphere was so loud, the waitress couldnt hear us. Once seated, our drinks took 20 mins because they couldnt find one of the Ingredients, and then another 40 for the food which was wrong. Instead of comping any part of the bill, they said they would take $1 off the bill for the part they forgot to put on or take the tacos in front of us back and then make new ones. We were there for over 2 hours and Im completely disappointed in my night out.
Barrio is hit and miss, all 4 of us got 2 tacos. We all loved one and the other was ok. These were all various combinations. The Barrio Secret sauce is very good. The Dirty sauce was less hot and not as good. Did not try the Reaper sauce, I just dont like pure heat any more. Margarita was mediocre. They were out of several beers including Pacifico and more surprisingly Bud Light. Guac was very good. Queso as well. We all like their house salsa which has a smoky Chipotle style. So its good but we think Condados is a notch better.
Super impressed by the quality of the food and service. Ran into a hiccup when nobody was waiting on us for about 15 minutes after we sat down, but we mentioned this to staff at the front of house and they handled it very well. I think the extra wait may have worked in our favor because the server we ended up with was *phenomenal*! The mango margarita I had was also fantastic. Definitely going to be a frequent customer here!
This entire Barrio experience was an extreme disappointment. I have been to other Barrio locations and always look forward to eating there. We sat down at 7:00 pm and placed our orders. After about an hour of waiting for our meals, we asked our server how much longer it would be. She replied that they havent started making our food and that there were still tickets ahead of ours. We proceeded to wait another 20 minutes, all while watching three other tables seated after us receive their food. When we finally got our meals around 8:20 pm, they were incorrect and extremely subpar compared to other Barrio locations. Our server was not very helpful or apologetic about the situation, and I had to eat my entire meal with no beverage. Save yourself the time and frustration, and go to a different Barrio location.
This place has been hyped up for a while and we finally went with a group of 7 friends. I thought our waiter did a great job of keep his composure considering they sat him with 4 large groups of people. Drinks and kitchen took a bit long to get our stuff out to us. Thought the tacos were just ok, nothing special. Im sure we will go back, but still love my Taco Tantos.
My wife and I went here tonight and I must say I was pretty disappointed. We love Barrio and every time were in our near Cleveland we go. Needless to say we were excited to have one closer to Akron. Unfortunately the excitement was dashed. We waited an hour to be seated which was fine because they estimated that and it was ok because we love the other locations. But the issues began after we were seated. We places our drink orders and it took a good 10 minutes before our waitress let us know they couldnt find one of the ingredients for the drink I ordered. We had also ordered sjots that they couldve brought while we were waiting. She then took our food order. Our drinks came out another 10ish minutes later. At other locations even on a busy weekend in Lakewood or Cleveland our tacos are out by the time we finish our first basket of chips. 30-40 minutes and 3 chip baskets later our tacos came out.I took one bite and immediately realized my tacos were wrong and we were already ready to leave and get our tacos to go. When our waitress came back I let her know I had ordered Bombshells like I always do, but they gave me plain flour tortillas. I also tried the fish of the day with a stoner shell and this was wrong as well.A manager came over and offered to remake the tavos to which I said I dont want to wait for new tacos we just want to go. She offered to remove the upcharge for the shells only and honestly it wasnt worth the hassle. The meat was cold already at this point and we just wanted to leave. We got our check and our to-go bags and did just that.Extremely disappointed. This is not the quality of foodnor service I usually expect from Barrio.
After all the hype, this was not a place Ill run back to. We ordered food and a cocktail... By the time my drink was done, still no food. We waited over 40 minutes for tacos... Not a steak or chicken breast, but tacos from a prepared list of ingredients....And boy was I disappointed to find the skirt steak wasnt even hot!! Why dont you say chilled on the handy dandy order form? I wouldnt have ordered it. But the skirt steak was the tastiest of my 3 tacos. The $1 rice add-on was a catsup cup of sticky cold white Uncle Bens... Really? Its a hip place to look at, but no one will wait that long for mediocre or below average food. If your kitchen time is also slow, at least have the courtesy to present me food that says wow, Im worth the wait. Ambience is not good... Way too loud to even have a conversation while we waited for the slow appearing food. No manager ever came by the table. The owner replied to my concerns on a review, but never followed through when she had my contact info. Bad management in the kitchen and the restaurant both.I came, I tried, I abstain.
Honestly, this is the 2nd location of Barrio weve been to. My first experience was the Cleveland location and the food was incredible and the flavor was amazing. But many times going back the tacos were cold.We tried this Kent location thinking it would be better and not have cold tacos. Dont get me wrong still great tasting tacos... but seriously have you ever heard of anyone wanting a cold taco?
Great food and drinks and despite being SUPER busy the service was fantastic. Our waitress was on top of everything and 2 different managers came to our table to make sure we were satisfied. I also appreciate that they take your cell number and text you when your table is ready so we were able to walk around downtown while we waited.
This was my first time at the Kent Barrio location. Overall I loved the food and the atmosphere was great! I could see it looked like a manager and employee getting very close and touchy towards each other. Which is why I’m writing this review. No one wants to see that while they are eating especially if it’s the people who are working and serving you. Not sure if I’ll come back to this location.
For a Barrio, the space is a little cramped, which also makes the wait even longer. It’s also going to be busier in fall and spring because of Kent State students. But the food is still pretty good. It was cold when I went, but that was opening week and I’m expecting it to improve with time. The waiters were amazingly nice.
Save yourself the effort and just take the drive to a Cleveland location. Yeah its farther if you live on the kent/Akron side but you absolutely will not get the true barrio experience at Kent. I get they are new but youd think they would hire people who were up to the task. Barrio has a good reputation and this location kills that. Said an hour wait yet TONS of empty tables with no people in front of me. We found bar seating and asked multiple times for chips and salsa but the chips didnt happen until AFTER the tacos came out and no salsa. If youve been to barrio before, you know that they always come while you wait for your food. Once the food came the order was also wrong but asking for help from the staff was not worth it when you could clearly tell they were overwhelmed. Just was not a good vibe the whole time. The hosts didnt know what was going on, the bartenders didnt know what was going on, no one knew anything. You may think this was harsh but when youve gone to every single location and see a noticeable difference youd think the same as me. Also ordered a to go trying to give the food quality a second chance and was also disappointed. The food was ice cold even though we came when they told us to for the time estimate and the host put my order under a different name so it took forever to find my order. Only reason this isnt 1 star is because the drinks were the only thing that were consistent.
Today at 10:58 am I was let into Barrio and the first one to get seated. I was not greeted for 15 minutes while everyone that was seated after me was. There were at least 5/6 tables that were greeted and got thier drinks and started putting in their orders before me. How is this okay, I was the first one at the door and the only one seated, how do you think it is okay to help everyone after me? I was seated at 11:00am but did not get drinks until 11:20-11:25 am.Food was okay the one in Cleveland is definitely better and way better service. Ran out of chips for my queso took forever to get more, my cup was empty finally it was acknowledged and was bought waters with no straw, we asked for straws and the waiter came out with two black straws that were not wrapped and touch with his bare hands. Why does a business not give thier customers wrapped straws?I hate to say this but I was the only black customer, the first one seated but everyone else around me that white was helped? I wonder why....I will never be back worst service Ive ever ever experienced in Kent!Whomever was seating guest was extremely rude!....no brunch either...waste of money and time!
Went to this location for the first time last night. I was meeting a few friends and arrived early so I put my name in (45 min wait) and grabbed an empty seat at the bar to have a drink and wait for our table. The wait ended up being only 20-25 minutes but the entire time I waited at the bar, not one person came to take my order or even acknowledged me.Once we were sat, our server was attentive and food was good as always.
Havent eaten at this Barrio location since it opened. However, that isnt surprising since it JUST OPENED! Im reading negative reviews by people who clearly have an unrealistic set of expectations from a business that just opened. Cmon folks, this place is staffed by mainly trainees. You must expect this going in. I look forward to enjoying lunch there this Friday and letting them practice on me. That is the only way we will bring a new great restaurant to our community. So please, anyone who reads this... be patient with the new staff of this tried and true great establishment.
Food is good but this place is horribly managed. Host will tell you it’s A 25-30 minute wait and you’ll actually wait an hour or more just to be seated (Has happened to me multiple times).. Not to mention the extra hour it will take for your food to come out. Don’t come here if you have things planned for the day, this is more like an all day affair.
This place is fantabulous! It just opened at Kent and is always very crowded. The food is good... although they usually have just different varieties of tacos. The salsa and guac are WAO!!! I love their wall graphities too! They are spooky and will give you the Halloween heebee jeebies!!! My server was an amazing and super friendly lady who walked me through the menu. Overall I will give it a double thumbs up👍👍!!! Keep up the good work Barrio!!!
10/5, liable to never go back to chipotle again tbh. Food is great at an even better price. STRONGLY recommend their buffalo chicken dip! My waitress (Emily) was very helpful as well as this was my first barrio experience! Will be a regular here most likely keep up the good work!
This is the third time in the past three weeks that they have stopped letting people in before last call. Each time I have arrived 15-20 minutes before last call, and each time I was told snarkily by a different college-aged employee working the door that they werent taking anymore orders. I love the food here, and I drive almost 30 minutes each way to patronize this place. However, I wont be any longer. Who needs to spend a combined 3 hours driving to a place that doesnt honor their posted hours? And to be treated rudely on top of that? No thanks, there are plenty of other options out there.
As a lot of other reviews have stated, I love the food here but the customer service is lacking. They offer the pickup option online but the phone have been down for weeks. For some people, the comfort level is lower for dining in, so a pick up option would be nice and the fact they they advertise it is quite misleading.
I’ve been to multiple barrio locations, I love them. This was my first time going to this one. I went on it’s 2nd day of opening and I got a bowl with chicken in it. While eating it, I bit down on a dime size piece of chicken bone. It was so big that it startled me and spit it out on the table, regardless of the fact that I was in the middle of a busy restaurant. I showed the waitress and I wasn’t making a big deal about it. Just wanted them to let the kitchen know that they weren’t preparing the food properly or safely. Her reply was “well yeah, our chicken is natural.” I was shocked. For a moment I thought maybe all of the chicken that I’ve been eating prior to this incident was an artificial bionic replica of a real chicken that was created without bones. But then I came to realization that I was just dealing with a inadequate waitress and a subpar establishment.
Ive been here around 5 or 6 times now and every single time, my tacos have been cold. The service is typically pretty bad as well and the waitresses nearly always mess up our checks. This place has so much potential to be good but its not cutting it for me right now.
Multiple issues, keep in mind they were not busy at all during this time.Me and my friend arrived and the bartender would not let us order drinks unless I gave him my card to start a tab. I tried to tell him I only wanted one drink but he insisted.Nothing on the rims of our margaritas.I had to get someones attention to ask for chips, I tried to ask for a salasa but she had already turned away to the kitchen. The biggest issue was at checkout where without asking she just charges my card. When she brings my card back I asked was there no way for me to pay cash? To which she says sorry and had to get a manager to void the the charge, but it will still take days to get back into my account.Just a frustrating experience, I doubt Ill be back after this.
I am at the point with this restaurant that I feel I need to leave an awful review. Their drinks and food are fine, but something is either not right with their register system or their employees are not properly trained... regardless, I went to Barrio on Oct 18th with coworkers and my card was accidentally charged for both orders despite having separate checks. We luckily caught the mistake before leaving and we were told it was handled and the 25 dollar charge would not go through. I even double checked with a manager to make sure. Well, the charge did go through so the following week I called and spoke to another manager about my problem and she said that she reimbursed it and the refund should be processed within 24 hours. This was on October 24th it is now October 27th and still no refund. Needless to say I won’t be going back until this is resolved, and I will be sure to let others know of my problem. There are plenty of other places to eat in Kent.Update: My money has been reimbursed and the situation handled.
Every time I come to this location the service is awful. I came here on a Saturday night a little before 11 and the restaurant was half empty. We were ignored for 20+ minutes at the table and servers made eye contact with us multiple times. But then a server took another groups order that got there 15 minutes after us. Even as we were about to leave a server looked at my boyfriend and continued to walk past. This is ridiculous and I won’t be back to this location.
EXTREMELY overrated. Not worth the wait or the hassle, the tacos were just eh, as well as the service. This was a first barrio experience for me & was extremely disappointed. Hopefully the one in Cleveland is better & lives up to the hype, will most likely not go back.
A very nice addition to the new Kent downtown. One can already see the benefit to the neighboring businesses. Really good jalapeño cilantro margaritas to replace those enjoyed at a recently closed establishment. Make-it-yourself taco orderung is great amd flexible. Give yourself some time because there seems to be a vibe around the place that brings in the crowds
I absolutely love the Barrios in Cleveland! Best tacos and queso you can get before an Indians game or whatever else you may be doing. The new location in Kent left more to be desired though. Need to revamp the drink menu and add Mojitos. Choices of margs is great, but the mojitos and other drinks available in Cleveland provides a much better variety. Also, Kent location was very load and crammed given the restricted space.
Was not impressed I’ve been to barrio a lot and I love it but the one in Kent was not worth the almost 2 hour wait when we were told 1 hour wait. It took forever to get drinks and our food. Our tacos were cold and the rice was not cooked all the way. I’ll never go to this one again
Ask a date to take you here so you can see how they apologize. Their affinity for marine life is evident in the way they serve the queso, no straws in the watery cheeselike liquid. Seriously, its probably considered hydration for elite athletes from Wisconsin. Pacifico is cheaper than Bud light, check the exchange rate before ordering. The layout is a radical departure from Newdle bar, there is now a half wall separating the bar from the dining area...if youre like me youll be a scratching your head and wondering where you are ???The absence of a No shirt, no shoes sign foretells an interesting summer. Enjoy!
Well if you like being served chips no salsa cause the bowls are dirty, and like no one knowing what they are doing or should be serving you and having to ask for the correct order 3 times... and paying money for cold food on small tables and a waitress whose hands are dirty and touching your food than this is where you should eat, I however would sooner eat at Taco Bell

2022-07-14I so want to love this place but I’ve been here five times and they have never once gotten the order right. And you write your own order on the pad. All they have to do is assemble the tacos.Atmosphere is great. Drinks are great. Bartenders are great. But I can’t keep going back to a place that’s incapable of assembling a taco.

2021-12-121) The food is amazing and the chips are warmed and free which is awesome! On top of that, their drinks though higher in price are made well. The custom tacos section always tastes good no matter what combination you do.2) Out Waitress, Madelyn M, was absolutely wonderful! She made sure we were always comfortable and had adequate food to eat and water as well as alcohol. She was incredibly sweet and apologetic if things were running slow. She was the best waitress ever!3) The staff overall were super friendly and made sure we were always comfortable even if they were running around.Overall definitely one of my favorite restaurants and I highly recommend!

2021-02-07They are following all the safety guidelines and we felt comfortable here. The waitress was so sweet! We went at 3:30 pm on a Saturday and there was no wait! There’s always a line so we felt so excited to sit right down. They Blackberry Bourbon Lemonade was delicious. Our daughter loved her margarita too! We all enjoyed our tacos, bowls and chips and salsa. This is a nice addition to the Downtown Kent community. We will be back!

2022-05-14Absolutely disappointing take out from Barrio; came cold, sloppily packaged, and with items missing. Ordered via a third party app, but even so, within the bag; two sauces and two margaritas were missing from our order (total $20 of a $45 order). We were unable to contact restaurant due to busy phone line - understandable on a Friday night - but still poor quality from a restaurant we have enjoyed in the past.

2022-06-28The drinks, chips and dips were good. The 4 tacos we ordered were pretty bad. The flavors were way off. They tasted like it was cooks first day. Our server Madison was slow and cold to us.

2022-07-02Perfection. Great personal service from Johnathan. Drinks are on point and better than anything you have ever had. Select a few different tacos and pick your favorite. This place does well in every way and prices are low for the creations you get
