Really nice food and drinks. Refreshing and flavorful. Great atmosphere, will definitely be back often.Update: came back again, food was superb. You must get the dessert with hazelnut chocolate. Just amazing.Update #2: sadly I have to update my review of this little gem that has turned into something else. Latin Arepas is gone and the new food provider lacks both options and flavor. Guy taking orders was weirdly condescending as well. Bar Granada itself seems to have lost its luster as well. took a long time to get acknowledged for drinks, beer was flat. Perhaps was just an off night but probably won’t come back.
Vegetarian: Build your own menu with black beans as a protein. Only a few items on the menu specifically had meat, so you can get just about anything here. Arepa was fried on the outside giving it a nice crispy texture, sliced open like a bun and filled with whatever you like. Bar selection is focused on tequila, with a handful of beers on tap. Nicely decorated and clean.
Atmosphere is wonderful! Even during COVID precautions, outdoor seating is available. Location is convenient to downtown not far from Riverscape. Street parking is also easily accessible. If you enjoy Latin and reggae music, or a vibe that makes you feel that you are outside of Dayton in South America or in the Caribbean, this is the place! The Venezuelan food is authentic and delicious, especially the empanadas, the plantanos (plantains), arepas are all so delicious! Dont expect a crowd right now, there is plenty of space to make you feel comfortable. The drinks are really good and the staff and manager were all very attentive, timely and engaging. I cant believe I didnt know about this place sooner. I will definitely be back soon!
We took our friend from Denver to Bar Granada on Friday night, April 30. We all loved this place. It features Venezuelan influenced foods and craft tequila. It wasnt crowded, and our Arepa, Empanada, soft tacos, and jalapeno tequila cocktails were excellent. We will go back. Bar Granada is on the NW corner of Main Street and Monument Avenue in downtown Dayton. Open Wednesday- Saturday, 5 - 10pm.
Unfortunately, a very disappointing experience. I was really excited to try Bar Granada but they messed up my order in a really bad way. I ordered the vegan black beans but my order came out with chicken, and I realized it after taking a couple bites. I appreciate the attempt at fixing it and the free chips and salsa, but this is the worst mistake you can make for a vegetarian/vegan. The Yuca fries were ok. Service was good despite the error.
Very dissatisfied with the service my friends and I received at this establishment. My friends and I sat at the bar (three of us). We were given menu’s five minutes after we had been sitting. We decided what we wanted. Ten minutes went by and no one had taken our order. I flagged down a staff member and said “sir how can I order?”. He said “I have to find someone”. We waited ten more minutes and someone finally took or order. Fifteen minutes went by and no one brought our order. There was a lady that decided she would take out our order after walking by us 5+ times. It was at that time we expressed our dissatisfaction. The lady decided to get upset and say “well all of our staff are new”.I won’t be back to this establishment.
This place is so underrated. The food is phenomenal, all fresh ingredients.one of the owners, Abraham, is amazing you can tell that he really cares about the freshness and the taste of the food. The atmosphere is smooth and the handmaid drinks do not disappoint. Plus they have a patio, and a stage for live music. Dont play yourself, you need to visit this gem city jewel 😉
I went with my friend to Bar Granda this past weekend. It was my first visit. The bar is warm and inviting and the drinks were great. My only complaint was the cleanliness. Our table was sticky and dirty and there were no napkins. The womens restroom was unclean without toilet paper, good thing I had tissues in my purse. My friend, who has been there many times was puzzled by my assessment and assured me that this wasnt the usual. All in all, it is a nice place with great food and drinks. I would suggest paying a bit more attention to cleanliness.
My wife and I were in last Friday. The atmosphere, music, and drink were great. The experience would have five stars, had I been able to get a drink faster. The female on the left side of the bar did a great job. The male on the right side, however, was super slow and he was serving all of the walk-up customers. A faster bartender to service the majority of the room is certainly needed.
An excellent selection of tequila and the friendliest staff makes for a unique tequila experience that has expanded my knowledge and appreciation of the drink. For those who dont appreciate tequila on its own, their superb bar tenders have created some truly exciting cocktails. I look forward to trying more of their menu while enjoying the delightful atmosphere they have created inside and on the patio.
Second time in for dinner in a week! Everyone is so nice and helpful. The food was amazing both visits. I dont drink, but my friend that I came in with, got a bottle of red wine and said it was really good and went well with the food. This is quickly becoming a restuarant that I will come to often!
The staff at Bar Granada are passionate about their food. I was very impressed with the variety of dishes Id never had before and their eagerness to explain each one in detail and offer pairings with other foods as well as wine and beer options. I tried a sampling of three distinctly different menu items and each was amazing. I will definitely be back.
Food was so good. The servers and bartenders were knowledgeable of the food and patient with us while we ordered. We had good friends with us from out of town and wanted to do something different. So glad we did. If you havent made it to Bar Granada yet, youre missing out.
I was there with my wife three months ago. I am from Spain and I really enjoyed the food and the friendliness of the bar tender. It was like being back home. I miss my ESPAÑA so much.... you can really enjoy just like being in Granada. I definitely recommend the visit.
The food was good, the first girl who took our drink order was nice. The girl who took our food order was terrible. Never checked on us, never brought us our waters. And asked if we wanted another round of drinks after we already ate all of our food. Maybe if they would have come back sooner we would have gotten another round. The gentleman brian who brought us our food and our waters finally was the nicest. This place could have more potential if the servers would get their act together.
This place has potential, but fell short on service. Calamari I ordered was perfect! Our first server was very personable, but her shift ended and we were handed off to a different server who disappeared for our whole meal. Asked for water for the table that never arrived, till Brian (who was super great) helped us out. She never checked in on us after ordering till it was time for checks. Noticed she was spending her whole time with two guys at the bar. We wanted to order another round or two of drinks, but lack of service made us go elsewhere for the night.
Great place for a drink or two before a show at the Schuster. Tequila and margaritas are the highlight plus ice cold draft beer from a special tap system. The Estrella Galicia lager is the house beer and it is wonderful. Food is remarkable by Latin Arepas. Tried the arepa by recommendation and loved it. Definitely will be back with friends.
Bar Granada is a newly established restaurant in the downtown Dayton area. They seem genuinely interested in helping the area develop in multiple ways. They help boost local arts as well as try to share an authentic Spanish experience to people who come visit. Generally they do little things that make then stand out as not just another restaurant. For example, when ordering just a basic drink it is common for them to also serve tapas complimentary as part of the order.
The tequila is amazing. I particularly like the Casa Azul Reposado, but others in my party preferred the Casa Avion Anejo. I definitely recommend talking to the owner about your selection, he is very passionate about good Tequila! The food is excellent as well, coming from a popular Peruvian food truck vendor who has set up an indoor cooking space and order counter. Salsa dancing was a bonus on the night we went.

2022-04-19Delicious. Drinks, Taco Tuesday, all of it is great. We’d love the addition of a high-top high chair for families even we know those under three aren’t your usual crowd!

2021-11-02Update 10/27/21:The kitchen/chef has recently changed hands and the pictures of the menu I posted prior are no longer the food that is served. The new food is just ok and the last time we went to eat there, the bar service was not that great. No one acknowledged us or took our drink order. After about 20 mins, we just went up to the bar to order our drinks, despite there being several waitresses walking around trying not to make eye contact with us.Its a shame, because the Arepas place that was here was really freaking good!!-------------------------------------------Have lived in Dayton almost 3 yrs now and have always wanted to stop here for a drink but never did. I had no idea they had a good menu either. We went tonight and it was awesome! Great food! Great drinks! Service was excellent. I’m only mad we didn’t go sooner!!

2022-02-13Nice place. Sometimes a nightclub but doesnt really have a nightclub look (which is neither good nor bad). Friendly bar staff. Seems a little expensive to me, but everything is now, so maybe thats just normal here at the tail end of capitalism. ($9 for well g&t + bottle bud light)Ive only been to Syn there. The DJ (Chris Favorite usually I think) is definitely good but Im not always a fan of his selections, which often feature better/worse covers and remixes of popular songs from both in and outside of the ebm/industrial/techno/goth genre. Still a throbbing, pounding good time.

2021-07-04Nice oval bar with kitchen and live music. Spanish themed restaurant with a heavy tequila inspired bar. Open garage doors allows a breathable ambiance looking over the riverside. Would recommend for a chill hangout sesh. Food was okay. Got a rice bowl and the barbacoa was probably my favorite part. Decent spot to watch the fireworks.

2022-04-10Great place! Friday nights there are rotating Latin DJs, and Salsa Saturdays with DjDanny D. Good crowd sizes. Its large and clean here with a great wraparound bar. Specialty is tequila. Love the staff!

2022-03-17Love this place! They have downsized their menu but that is good. The Birria Pizza is fantastic and the cinnamon in the beef birria is super tasting. Add fresh guacamole and chips and it is more than a meal. Service was excellent. Dont overlook this downtown eatery!

2022-04-02Low quality food with premium prices, it was very lackluster all the way around the table. Environment is great, staff friendly and helpful. Drinks are not bad at all.

2022-06-08Nice bar in Dayton, they have Latin night every Friday...I think they should add African night to make it more inclusive.

2020-01-03Had an awesome experience tonight at Bar Granada. Got to try three different tequilas and Paul took time out of his night to talk to us about them and talk about the process of making tequila. The atmosphere was really nice and I cant wait to come back and try the food.Follow up review: the food is also fantastic and Paul has gone out of his way to make us feel welcome here in each follow up visit. I love Barrel House, but Bar Granada is becoming my favorite spot to hangout in Dayton.

2019-03-29Great experience. This is a Spanish inspired Cafe featuring small plates (tapas) perfect for sharing with a group of people or your date. The view off the terrace is quite nice and the corner location with the big Windows is very airy and light inside.
