Bakers IGA in other cities:
We really like this little store. It has a great small town homey feel. Obviously the prices are not always as low as the local big box grocery stores but they are not bad either. They do have a off brand available so that helps if you are willing to use non brand items. The facility is clean, bright and spacious. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. If you enjoy a more relaxed, laid back, small town experience this is the place for you.
This is a nice, small grocery store. They have a good selection of items that you can choose from. A lot of times in these small grocery stores they only have one kind of item and you can choose from the store brand or name brand and thats it but Bakers has a very nice selection of things. And if you havent had one of the glazed croissants from the bakery then you are missing out on something amazing!
I was very disappointed with the quality of products I purchased the other day. The cupcakes were decent, but everything else was below par; the apple turnovers were undercooked& had barely any filling, the 3 1-liter Dr. Peppers were flat, & the box of danishes was stale. U would think that the prices they charge would insure quality products.
Love this smaller local store, so much less hassle than big chain stores. My family for three generations now have shopped here. Only problem is prices. Some are slightly higher than big stores, some considerably higher. Thats the reason for rating 3 stars rather than 5. I expect higher price but some are way too high, even for a convenience store.
Nice little store.Could have had a nice grocery store in Fredericktown but NOBODY wants to support one. All they want to do is talk about how nice it would be to have one but when given the opportunity not enough people will support having our own grocery store. 4 different stores have opened and closed in the 20 years Ive lived here because of lack of community support.
Bakers is your traditional small town grocer. The place is immaculately clean. The floors shine, shelves are in order and well stocked. The fresh food is displayed nicely. Its best attribute is the employees. These folks are friendly and courteous. The checkout and deli folks always have a smile. The product selection is decent and well priced.
So I’ve stopped by here many times in the past year and some of the staff are very disrespectful and rude. I believe her name is Kim? Not completely sure. But the woman with the short hair was really rude towards me. Uncalled for. There was this younger boy, he hasn’t been there for the past couple weeks so I have no idea what happened to him, but he was really nice to me, using manners. I asked for a manager up front and they called for him, he did not come so this woman came up. BUT after I talked to the woman, I went shopping and the manager was back in the bakery talking with a couple of the bakers. Obviously he didn’t hear the employees calling for him over the speaker because he was in the back chatting. Can’t remember his name but he has glasses, darker brown hair and facial hair. The bakery food, donuts, cookies, etc are one of the best!!!
I really want to like and support this store because I love to support small business and honestly the donuts are amazing. But everytime I go there the employees are incredibly rude. I went in this morning for donuts and the older women was not kind to me at all. Everytime we use WIC there the employees are rude about that as well.
The lines were long only 2 only office line and 1 other. No express lane. I had 2 items and had to wait a good 10 to 15 minutes. They should have 1 express open and the store manager was just sitting at desk watching and should have been helping. So if your in a hurry for a item or 2 pay the price and go to Wal-Mart....Your explanation does make since but what doesnt is WHY WASNT THE MANAGER HELPING INSTEAD OF WATCHING AND THE CASHIER DID CHECKOUT AND LOTTERY WINDOW...
Small town grocery, trying to stay in business against more corporate giants like Kroger and Wal-Mart.Bought out by IGA, Bakers hasnt changed much over the years.Prices are higher then most reflecting a struggling grocery of its size to turn profit.Selection isnt great, but has the essentials.Perks are its never busy, easy in and out, and hardly ever a wait. The gem is its bakery which has the best donuts in the city and the reason many of us keep returning.
It was great! Went there because stupid Wal-Mart did not have several items we needed. The new remodeled Wal-Mart is a joke. They should be ashamed. Many items missing. No Colby cheese, no distilled water, no pickles we like and no canned cherries. Got them quickly here and were on our way. Hope more people choose stores like this one in lieu of stupid Wal-Mart!
Vicki really does care about customers my wife and I just came in from Cleveland clinic wanting to get home she didnt know that as usual even though she probably wanted to get home too but she ran me thru fast lane. Not first time all employees treat customers great hope Baker s know what they got
Decent neighborhood market. Has all the basic grocery items. Also has a meat produce dairy deli bakery and alchohol depts.Has the small town appeal. Not the bustle if a Krigers store.Parking is adequate but its difficult as t times to get out of parking lot due to heavy traffic.
Just not impressed with the layout, never have been. The deli is less appealing now than it once was, I dont trust buying salads that are displayed all day in aluminium pans. Plus, I feel they are still too pricey. They are a sad substitute for Aldis. Ill be going back there when they reopen in September, even though it is further from home.
I hadnt been in here since it was rebranded. Not a regular shopper, but I was looking for malted milk powder, which they did have (and Kroger didnt). It seems to have been cleaned up a bit, and theyre running an old-school merchandise promotion, which I havent seen in years. Stop in if you havent been there since it was Neffs.
I just want to say thank you to the young ladies that helped my grandmother out on Saturday she was under the weather and they helped her home and made sure that she was ok .I love the fact that this establishment has such amazing people that care thanks again Derrick Depolo.

2022-07-12Personally I think this place is a little on the expensive side. Tip, Check out their ad for deals on meat. They will have some great deals on meat occasionally, just have to look it for it. They usually display their big deals on their sign out front. Its good for running in and grabbing a few things, but I wouldnt do all my grocery shopping here..

2022-03-09I love coming here for a few specifics, like hamburger and donuts, but very pricey...hands down best damn donuts Ive ever had in my life!! So it may cost more shopping here, but its right around the corner and it beats going all the way across town and having to deal with big grocery stores, with more people, higher volumes of traffic, further parking, && the fact that u leave with everything but what you came there for,(l.o.l.) like Walmart and Kroger...

2022-07-02Its okay if you need something close to home. Amazing donuts and bakery staff. Employees are generally nice. Terrible produce options, store could be cleaner. Ice cream is freezer burnt like it has melted and been re-frozen. And I only say this because it has been like that the past several times weve bought it from there, expensive Ben and Jerrys only tastes freezer burnt at this store.

2021-09-05They dont have the cheapest prices, or the biggest selection. If you want that, you go to places like Wal-Mart. HOWEVER, I am personally okay with paying more and shopping here when I can. Not only is it supporting a local business against the big-box stores, but they also tend to have a unique selection of products that I tend not to see elsewhere. Additionally, they run sales often and its not like the prices are THAT much higher. They have their own value brands ad well, like the All Save brand which is surprisingly good considering the name of the brand leads me to think itd not be. Finally, the people have always been super nice and helpful to me, and they have probably the best donuts in town.

2022-03-02I like this little grocery store. The people who work here are friendly and helpful. They have a decent selection. Prices are a little high, yet it beats driving across town. The only complaint i have is the produce department does not get stocked well and often the produce is rotten or going bad.
