I wanted to like this place, I really did. It was 7 a.m., I was jonesing bad for a hot, toasty everything bagel with some garlic or onion cream cheese. The guy behind the counter was definitely nice, but the bagel was small, certainly not with everything, and the cream cheese, not the portion that you would get at even Dunkin Donuts. That wasnt the worst part, the worst part was they didnt toast The Bagel, they steamed it. So I ended up getting a damp bagel with cream cheese. It just wasnt good. I bought two, I threw one away and literally drove straight over to Dunkin Donuts and got a delicious toasted everything bagel with garlic cream cheese. I hear their sandwiches are good, but I just dont want a damp bagel.
The must-stop sandwich place in Oxford. Understand now, that I am not a fan of bagels as a general rule. I make an exception for this place which has--what, like 100?--ways to dress up that bagel into some form of deliciousness. They have been super careful during the pandemic, so wear a mask and be patient with the employees there.
After waiting for 25 minutes, I went in and asked when my order would be ready…. I was told in a very condescending tone that they would be ready when it was ready…… staff was hostile…. Window was slammed in my face when order was finally ready after 45 minutes…… so sad, I was really looking forward to a good bagel….. so much for Midwest hospitality…..
Was in town for a tour of Miami with my husband and HS senior. Wanted to explore uptown so ordered some sandwiches so we would have plenty of time to explore uptown. After waiting 40 minutes for our sandwiches, we inhaled them on a park bench so we wouldn’t be late for our 1:00 tour. Thank you Bagel Shop for ruining our experience.
Placed order, paid and was instructed to wait outside along with many other people. Was 45 minutes before received order. Not sure but I felt there were others who placed their order after I placed my order and then were called to pick up order before we received our order.
Bagel & Deli is a Miami/Oxford staple and a definite must-visit if youre around. They have a massive menu of over 90 uniquely named, delicious bagels with a variety of ingredients. The bagels are steamed, not toasted, which makes them amazingly chewy and causes the whole sandwich to meld together into an outstanding pile of bliss. The store is tiny and incredibly popular so it gets packed. Theres no line of any sort, instead relying on a bar-style system where you basically just have to make yourself heard to get your order in. The atmosphere is lively and I could see it getting pretty loud and hectic late night on the weekend. This does nothing but add to the appeal of a place like this.
Wonderful bagel sandwiches. A bit expensive but honestly worth it. Its a must go to place for me everytime I visit my friend at Miami University. I do recommend if its your first time bringing someone with you who has been before. The no line and figuring out when to pay can be confusing if you have never experienced this type of service before.
This is the most creative bagel destination you will probably ever fine. Objectively speaking, the bagels themselves are the same as anywhere else, but their combinations that have been created by them as well as customers are what makes this amazing. For example, a Crunch and Munch bagel will have both turkey AND Doritos on it. There are so many awesome combinations depicted by unique wooden panels hanging behind this counter. My personal favorite (for you dessert lovers out there) is the Cookie Monster. It’s a blueberry bagel with cream cheese, cinnamon, and an entire chocolate chip cookie inside! Pure joy and every bite will bring a smile to your face. The prices are slightly expensive for the food you are getting, but not so much so that you can’t enjoy 3 or 4 bagels on a late night. And since this is in a college town, you can expect this place to be packed with a bunch of drunk college kids all wanting some delicious food. Don’t let that dissuade you from coming here also!
Visiting Oxford, OH on a college visit to Miami University w/ my son. Ive lost track of how many people have told me we needed to visit Bagel and Deli and try the Crunch and Munch. We made it our first stop in town and didnt even look at the Menu, just ordered as directed and thoroughly enjoyed.
A nationally recognized icon of Oxford. Know for their high variety of toasted bagels with various combinations of toppings, Bagel and Deli has cameos whenever Miami or Oxford are mentioned. That being said, the bagels they craft are, in my opinion, overrated. But not bad. Worth the bite, not the hype.
The staff is very rude. They skipped over me many times to take male customers orders even though I let them know I was ready to order. Not until my male partner walked up would they take my order. I have never been treated so poorly at a food establishment in my life. The sandwich I ordered was gross. The roast beef was VERY dry. I will never return to this place again and I recommend you do not either.
The food here is delicious, theres no question. A college-town establishment that clearly has traditions and is a part of the campus culture - cool. Knocked off one star because its hectic and theres no good way to tell if theres a line, when youre supposed to pay, etc; this isnt a big deal, but its awkward and makes you feel at fault for not automatically knowing. If youre a visitor like me, Id recommend going with someone who has been before.
A creative place for sure, worth checking out at least once. The Messy Katey was my favorite. Staff is a hit or miss. I’ve come here for years and I’ve had service ranging from brisk to rude. Honestly, I’m over this place for its price and people. Haven’t been back in a year and don’t intend on it anytime soon.
Solid mainstay in Oxford. People go nuts over it out of nostalgia, which is totally understandable, but its too overpriced for me. If it were a bit cheaper Id give it a 4. Service is always great. Definitely should try this place if you havent. I realize that my lukewarm opinion is distinctly in the minority regarding this place.
I have never seen employees behave so terribly in my life. The people working in this deli cursed out a group of parents in town for a soccer tournament (in front of children). Their behavior was completely out of line, culminating in the employee kicking out a soccer mom (who did nothing wrong) and calling the police on her. It was shocking and appalling. I would not spend a dime in this shop.
Rudest employees ever. They will yell at you for not being ready to order right when you walk in. they have one female brunette employee who swore at my little brother when he was ordering and kicked him out for no reason at all. She was making the bagel wrong and he was telling her to not put a ingredient he was allergic to on it and kicked him out for annoying her
Delicious food at any time and at any level of sobriety. Order a Bagel, get a drink in the back and pay less than $10. Then jet set your way back home and chow that thing into oblivion. If you like turkey, get the Blonde Bombshell. Got a sweet tooth, claim the Cookie Monster. Are you a weirdo? Go for the Donkey Punch. So many options, youll have to come back for weeks to try them all.

2022-05-01I love the bagel shop!!! They have so many options for everyone. I didnt know they had a breakfast menu as well which was super awesome. I got the western breakfast bagel and it was so good. It normally comes on an egg bagel but I substituted an everything bagel.

2022-05-04Favorite place in town. At first I thought I was not going to like it because I am not a bagel person, but after my friend took me, I go there frequently. Food is fresh, warm and the staff is always friendly.

2022-05-08Pick up time is always way off, have to wait at least another 20 minutes. Rude workers who are condescending. No thank you for a tip, just mocked the amount given. You don’t deserve tips when I am picking up my order that you are late making. Will not eat there again.

2021-10-21An Oxford institution. Browse the menu online so youre not overwhelmed when you arrive. Worth a visit any time of day. Pri-tip: add a Miami bagel to your order and enjoy it for a late night snack.

2017-12-13An amazing hole-in-the-wall restaurants with endless customization possibilities. My best friend always chooses The Lottery which is where the Bagel and Deli staff member gets to put where they want on the bagel, and he has yet to be disappointed.

2021-06-11I love this place! The number of bagel sandwich choices is overwhelming, so do your research beforehand and look at the menu. I got the All-American bagel and was very satisfied. The place itself is small and busy, so you order and then go sit on the patio and wait for them to call your name. I believe all of the bagels are steamed, which makes them softer. I will definitely be back to try something new!

2021-10-24Wow. To say I’m impressed is an understatement. The Grateful Dead memorabilia drew me in. I was eager to go for a couple years but never found myself up here. Just ate here tonight and I’m beyond full and beyond satisfied. You ever been kissed on the inside of your stomach by an angel? I hadn’t either til I got the class of ‘98 riot. Y’all gotta hit this place.

2021-07-19It was alright. Ive only tried one bagel so far. The Hangover Helper. The place is super small and hot when theres a bunch of customers you have to turn sideways. They make you wait outside when your order is ready and call you thru a window when its ready to pick up. We ordered waters with our bagels but they didnt give them to us so we had to ask for them again. Then they forgot about our waters after standing there for 5 minutes. Not too impressed with the organization. Ill update this review as I try more of the menu.
