Avis Car Rental in other cities:
The worst experience ever. Did not give us the car we reserved...did not answer their phone even in a road side assistance situation. Half way into our trip car trouble at Columbus Ohio encountered a very rude lady at checkout with manager sitting next to her. The only convenient/simple process to this whole rental car ordeal was returning the car. We will NEVER rent from Avis/Payless again! Very bad experience from beginning to end.
I am Avis Preferred and have rented from Avis directly for years. I was bringing my daughter home from college and after i booked, found a rate better (much) than what i had committed to. I called to have them rectify it, and unfortunately did not cancel and book with the other site (costcotravel.com) and Avis did not honor the rate. So instead of paying $245 total i paid $395 base rate and Avis did not seem to care i have been a dedicated customer for years
We rented a Jeep from the CMH airport location. It is extremely dark inside the garage. When we left the building, you could see that this Jeep’s interior was disgusting, so filthy that you could see crumbs, sticky residue and it smelled horrible, more so the next day after the temperature went up. The outside was so nasty and dirty we could barely drive because the windows were covered in dirt. We drove with an expired license plate tag the whole time.Upon returning the car we asked to speak to someone about it. The attendant nor the desk personnel could help so we were referred to the manager Stephanie who basically told me she couldn’t do anything because we had prepaid for the car rental. She told me not to be livid and to calm down because it was our fault for not returning the car if it was dirty. She had a nasty attitude from the moment we walked up to her and introduced ourselves.Bottom line, we called customer service and after a long wait they gave me $50 of a refund supposedly out of $456 that we paid for 4 days. I have not received any confirmation of this. This is absurd, it is BS. The worst customer service. Do not rent from them. Please save yourself some money and a horrible experience.
I rented a vehicle from Avis and the vehicle did not have any oil in the vehicle. The vehicle tire caught a flat while I was driving, I took car to a tire shop to put the spare on vehicle and the servicr texh showed me that the tires were so bad that the steel from the tire started to warp on the inside of tire causing the tire to blow. I was stranded in Dalton GA where there was no Avis location. I paid $180.00 for a new tire so I could get back Home. I showed Avis the video of warped tire and oil light showing no oil in vehicle as well as my receipts for putting oil in vehicle and paying for new Tire. Avis Management said they would credit my rental and repay me for money I spent on their vehicle for oil and new tire. Its has been a month and I have yet to hear anything from Avis or receive any refund. I will never rent from these guys ever again and I recommend you dont rent from them either. They have poor customer service and definitely dont service their vehicle before they rent them to customers.
I am very frequent AVIS renter and rent from them about once to twice a month for the past 18 months. This is the first time I had an issue with AVIS and its quite aggravating and disappointing. When I returned the car after filling up at the near by gas station, the AVIS person (lady) who scanning the cars being returning on Sunday morning on May 1 said I was all set and didnt say anything about any issues. Later I found in my receipt when I already left Columbus Ohio that they charged for leaving the gas tank 1/4th full and charged me almost 150 dollars for fees accusing me that I didnt fill up the gas tank. I have the gas station transaction as proof that I did. Ive never had this problem with any AVIS location which makes me to believe that this location does illegal and fraudulent activity to pad their bottom line. Avoid this AVIS location at this airport. They will illegally add fees to your receipt without you knowing it.
Only one person was staffing the main desk. No one was staffing the preferred desk upstairs. Many people complained. Staff was impolite, but I think from exhaustion. Not the only one who had issues with cars. I booked through my CO. So I didnt have a choice... Enterprise was a much better experience.
Agents assign you to cars and direct you to empty stalls. They use you to do their lot checks so they can sit behind a desk forcing you to go back and forth between the lot and the rental counter. No thanks Avis. I will rent from another company that actually has agents who perform lot checks to ensure they have the correct inventory.
We scheduled a Pathfinder or similar premium four months in advance of our trip. I started receiving emails to check-in and save time at the counter two months before the rental date, which i eventually did. After waiting in line for 40 minutes at John Glenn in Colombus, I was told there wasnt a Pathfinder or similar available and it would be a mini-van or Kia Forte. Once in the garage there were four freshly washed Pathfinders, a GMC Yukon, and a Ford Explorer parked right next to our mini-van. I called customer service only to be told to stand in the same line for another 40 minutes to talk to the same person that told me none were available. After traveling for 10 hours, we just took the mini-van and regretted it most of our trip. The only person that was personable and didnt act like they hated being there was the young man that worked security as we exited the garage.
I really have no complaints, I wish there were more options to pick from. My selection was very bad. Ended up with a Malibu where the heated seats did not work. Car did what it was supposed to do, little to no headache getting in and out of Avis. Hard to complain about something superficial... Anyhow. Have fun in Ohio.
This place is horrible, either their system doesn’t work or their unorganized. I made a reservation 2 weeks before for a minivan, and when my date to pickup came, the people working there said they didn’t have any minivans! Then what was the point of the reservation? And when I called to resolve the situation they said if I don’t cancel now they would charge me a $150 fee. Like what the heck? I have to pay a fee for something that isn’t my fault? The nerve.
SO EASY! The app told me which car was mine, no line, went straight to car - dropping off was SUPER EASY! It does make me nervous not to have an inspection at the end - but I video the car in case there is any dispute. Everything was super easy - MUCH better than CLEVELAND, which is disorganized and not under any cover. YOUR Avis is part of the reason I fly into Columbus even though the drive home is 30 minutes longer than CLE.
Avis in general is pretty terrible but at CMH it’s the worst. For one, and fortunately the airport shuttle driver warned us, they turn the automatic lights to off. Then cops sit at the exit to the airport and make easy money. The key fob to the car was nowhere to be found. It has to be in there somewhere but I never found it. I guess at any point someone could have just taken the car because I had no way to lock it. Lastly, I rented a full size car and got a Ford Ecosport. It’s basically a roller skate. CMH in general is a bad airport but Avis certainly does their part to make it as terrible as possible.
HORRIBLE SERVICE AVIS CMH WILL NOT RENT FROM THEM AGAIN.Reserved car not available. Happened to me TWICE. Reserved and paid in advance online just to be told that the car i reserved not AVAILABLE. they offered me a different car which was not acceptable to me. DONT PREPAY YOU WILL NOT GET THE CAR YOU PAID AT THIS LOCATION. the guy at the counter was very RUDE, DISRESPECTFULL, UNPROFISSIONAL, worst customer service Avis in Columbus airport. we have used Avis for years but, this is the last time!!!
Customer Service is non existent anymore and believe me I do understand their is no staff but why if I’m respectful and nice to you who is on the employee side what makes you think ADAM who could not locate our corporate preferred Account he told my husband to get out of his line after my husband was in line for almost 30 minutes 😂😂😂 this ppl have gone completely insane. Avis you either need to train Adam or he is not fit for a front line job.
Reserved and pre paid for a premium SUV a month in advance. When I showed up on my pick up date Avis stated they did not have any premium SUV’s due to a recall. They gave me a Honda Pilot without adjusting the cost. Avis could have let me know in advance that they did not have the class of car I reserved so I could find another company to rent from. I needed a large SUV because my family was relocating out of state. This is the second bad experience I have had with them never again! Horrible customer service also!
AVOID AVIS! gouged me with $150+ worth of refueling charges after they misrecorded mileage showed me driving 500+ miles in a 5 day rental period even though I drove fewer than 100 miles (and the vehicle could never drive that far on a single tank of gas anyway...)Interior of the vehicle was not clean, with sticky residue inside the cupholders and empty food wrappers.
This place has always been and continues to be a S&@“ Show. I am amazed there is still not any management at this location to fix the situation here. Embarrassing location for Avis. Never any cars available and as an Avis Preferred member you are listed on the board then walk out to the space indicated an no car there either. Nobody to ask questions so you need to go back downstairs to the desk again only to wait in a huge line. This location has been the worst Avis for several years now with sadly no end in sight. Rent somewhere else if you come to Columbus.
Have a late flight. We were told that with a reservation, they would wait for us even if we were delayed and it was past closing time. Flight was delayed and we called to ensure someone would wait, and they told us too bad nothing they can do. Stranding us overnight and offering no compensation whatsoever
Rental experience at the CMH facility was a disaster. It was a busy weekend, but the facility lacked cars and I was assigned three different cars because the first two were no where to be found. Car that I took had defective outside left mirror. I was charged for gas even though I filled up tank.
I prepaid for my rental for a trip to Columbus, OH at John Glenn Airport. There was only one agent. It took 90 - NINETY - minutes before I was assisted. Avis should have service kiosks available for prepaid. I felt bad for the agent. Fortunately, no one was difficult with him.
They scam you for the fuel charge even when you return the car at full. No one read the printout when you return the car because people are holding their luggages and rush for the airport. They won’t refund 16.99 even I show them I have prove the fuel is full. First and my last time using Avis.
Terrible experience with Avis in Columbus, Ohio!!! I arrived with my reservation and no cars were available. I had to wait in line for an hour with 20 other people who also had reservations and there was only one employee working -ridiculous. I will not rent from Avis again.
From Columbus, the process was smooth and logical. In Montrose there was absolutely no signage or instruction as to where to go, or what to do with the car. I also am not a fan of the fact that even if you return a vehicle early, in a prepaid reservation you are just out the difference in cost, rather than being refunded or being given credit.
The rental experience was great and very smooth! Really liked the Mitsubishi Outlander great on gas and really comfortable for someone that is 6,2 hope to rent that car again. The car was clean as well. All employees were easy to work with. It was a great experience and great price I will definitely rent with Avis again!
Worst experience ever. I had to drop my car after hours and the rental is still open. It’s just a matter to get the car plate, matching the contract and close it. But looks like this is a very hard thing to do. And I have been charged for a car that I had dropped more than 3 days ago.
I had paid for a full size sedan, got there the car was dinged on the door (not worried about it but had a case before where a rental company tried to blame me) and it smelled like cigarettes. Asked for a different car, he got me into a small size and charged me for a full size (since I had paid prepaid he said he couldnt refund, which is a complete BS). Overall a very bad experience! I
Avis charged me $30.00 for an apparent violation during my trip in Chicago. I paid it thinking ok, that was the fine plus Avis fee. NOOOOO. I got a letter from Chicago today saying no fine was imposed but, Avis decided to charge me $30.00 just because. If there was not fine imposed by a 3rd party, then Avis should not be collecting money from the renter just because. My experience with Avis has been great up to this point. Because of this, I will NOT use Avis for my Business Travel Rentals. I will go back to Enterprise.
I was given a car that was in an accident. Entire front end was taped on and came off when I was at the hotel. It was so cold and raining the tape break and it fell out. When I picked up the car, asked about the tape, was told it doesnt look like anything, its fine. Tried to call many times but because I picked up after Hours, I had to wait a day. Next morning called 3 times and just kept getting passed around. Finally a rep came through and said to go to the local avis to exchange car and they could file the claim as it was a huge safety hazard. I did that and they didnt have any cars. I was told they noted the account that cmh taped on the bumper and released out to me. I had to hold that car until todays return and piggy back rides due to safety from other individual. I was here on business and was extremely unsafe, inconvenient and embarrassing.
After waiting in line at another Avis and them telling us they had no cars even though we had reserved one we were told our only other option was to get a Uber 20 mins minutes away to the Avis at the airport.. once we got there the man at the counter was very apologetic BUT because is was at the airport we had to some extra tax because it was at the airport and was told haha they have to pay for this new building somehow and was then told it was their corporate store and they were a franchise. Blah blah fast forward for us now paying MORE for the rental because we had to get it at the airport and also an Uber over there. Then when we get in the car and go to leave we BY ACCIDENT drive into the wrong exit lane that you need a code for which we didnt see the sign only for this black woman who we wish we had gotten her name who came out and was cussing at us because we drive into the wrong exit lane and didnt have a code. Absolutely the worst service we have ever gotten. Do yourself a favor and pick another car rental company!
The service was good. I loved the contactless pickup. Also appreciate the complementary upgrade offered. But the car was not cleaned from inside it was all covered with dust and also had the oil indicator light on, because I was in rush didnt have time to stop and get replacement or get the issue fixed.
The gentleman at the columbus airport was great and told us if we returned the car early that we wouldnt be charged for the whole rental period; it would be adjusted. My issue was that i called Avis at the Lafayette airport and asked about not being charged the whole amount since the car was going to be returned early and the lady was clueless about everything i was asking and said that we would still be charged for the whole trip. Then when I went early to drop off the vehicle no one from Avis was there to talk to. This was at 9:30am. I had to ask Enterprise for help.
I dont usually like to write bad reviews but wow Im definitely never ever going through Avis again. I pre paid and wasnt happy with my car. The guy at the counter couldnt help me and told me to call the number. Ok not great but whatever. We also had to use a different card for the deposit only to find out that weve been charged on both cards the full amount. Im now on the 3rd day in a row waiting 45min to speak to a representative to get this sorted. Not getting the car I wanted was annoying but having to go through this is the worst.
I usually rent from a different rental car company who I never have had issues with, but I had to make a last minute reservation for a work trip and this was the best option available. I had no issues with picking up the car or the car itself, but my complaint is with the drop off. Usually, there are folks there to check you out right away and to provide you with a receipt. When I pulled up, there wasnt anyone that I could see right off to check out with, so I waited a few minutes to gather up all my stuff when someone finally came around. She scanned the bar code on the car and said Youre good to go, but didnt offer a receipt right there, which I normally make sure to get. I should have made sure to get a receipt right then because I never received my receipt by e-mail. I saw on my work charge card where the final cost was about $35 more than what it was supposed to be, and I went to Avis site to request the receipt. Even though I had filled up at a gas station about a mile away from the airport, the receipt showed that they had charged me for a fuel recharging fee. I had called the customer service number to inquire about the billing, but after being on hold for so long, I decided that my time was more valuable to my company than fighting the extra charges. In the future, I will stick with my usual rental car company, even if they end up charging more, just to not have to deal with BS charges, especially for personal rentals where I would be paying out of pocket. If you rent from here, make sure to ask for a receipt and confirm that they arent charging you extra for gas when you have brought back a full tank.
On recollection the worst Avis rental that I have had to date. Did not receive the signature SUV that I had reserved but a luxury sedan instead, which had high mileage and ran terribly. The Avis exchange on the mobile app does not (ever) work for me at Port Columbus, which forces one into going into the lobby and negotiate the assigned vehicle. I was very tired after a cross country trip and decided to not negotiate for another vehicle after also quickly perusing the lot. The Lincoln Continental had very loud road noise inside the cabin and dirty interior windows throughout.
Cars are not clean and the ones you rent online arent available. The Subaru Forester I rented had white stuff all over the passenger side like a tube of shaving cream exploded in it and the front window on the passenger side was covered in foot prints... I dont want to drive a car with someone elses foot grease on my window. On top of that the car I rented wasnt even close to what I reserved online. I wanted a full size sedan with XM radio... all of their full sized sedans didnt have XM, not the Ford, not the Chrysler 200 ( not a full size car despite what they think its the size of a Toyota corolla not a Toyota Camry) and the Malibu didnt have it either. Instead I got a under powered gas sucking Subaru Forester that drank gas just as bad as a full size SUV and the acceleration sucked... Nothing like needing to floor it just to get up to speed on the interstate. I wont be renting from Avis in the future. Enjoy the footprints on the glass and dirty cars...is it really that hard to hire someone to do a basic detail job of these cars ?
1 star review (update below as to why it was moved up to 3 stars) - There are a few reasons for this rating, but two of the biggest issues I had was it took an hour and a half in line in order for me even to the desk because there were only two agents helping a large crowd of customers. I understand there are employee issues, but this was horrible and I almost felt sorry for them if I wasnt so upset on how long it was taking me to get to the desk. Once I got to the desk, there were no minivans, and I specifically reserved a minivan because we have a family of 6 plus all of our luggage. They did provide us with a 7 passenger vehicle, but it was extremely uncomfortable for us to travel in the vehicle because there was no luggage space for us. I dont understand why when I rent one type of vehicle and confirm before the trip Im getting that vehicle, why dont I get that vehicle when I arrive to pick it up.Update 6/30/21 - I updated the review to a 3 star review because after working with their customer service, they are working to resolve the issue at the Columbus Airport rental facility. I understand they are working through some employment and vehicle issues and feel confident they understand the issue and are working to resolve it so others wont have to go through what I went through. Thank you Avis for listening to my concerns and working to resolve them.
So when American Airlines cancelled my connecting flight from Charlotte to Charleston SC, had lines a mile long to take to a representative, I opened my Avis app and made a reservation with my preferred number, by the time i got to the garage i had an email with the slot of my car. While driving to Charleston, got an email from American telling me they booked me on a flight the next day. Thanks Avis your prompt attention to my need made it possible for me to see my grandson for Halloween
Customer service I received was wonderful. My flight was delayed and I needed to reschedule my pick up time, which was done with no problem. We arrived pretty late, 1130pm, the gentleman who took care of us at the desk was very courteous and helpful. Will definitely rent from again due to the customer service I received.
I rented a car for three day. I couldnt make it back in time so I called and told the rental agent I wont make it back by 5pm monday. I would like to keep the car until Monday night and the same price I paid for three days was the price I was being charged for keeping the car for six more hours. According to the agent Im being charged this ridiculous price because of a car shortage at Avis. B.S
My fiance and I got married on Friday and the following day was full of things going wrong. One of the most stressful days Ive ever had. After an initial mess-up at the front desk, I had to return to Avis to address it (tags were expired, but I did not know about the grace period). I had the absolute PLEASURE of dealing with Stephanie at the Avis Preferred counter. I was holding back tears and explained the situation and she not only took the best care of us, she upgraded us for our honeymoon road trip. She was the ONLY good thing that I encountered yesterday. What an amazingly professional and wonderful asset she is to your company. At first I hated that I had accidentally booked my rental at the airport - but now I think I will be going back there exclusively just in hopes of dealing with her. Best customer service Ive ever had from anyone, hands down.
I was given a vehicle that was unsafe to drive (wipers did not work, pouring rain, wind with thunder and lightning) due to not being properly inspected before being put back into your fleet. I was told to drive to the nearest Avis location for a new rental even though it was not safe to drive the car. I spent 9 hours getting a replacement vehicle and Avis still wanted to charge me an additional fee. Despite the horrible way I was treated, nobody at Avis has attempted to contact me even though I have sent numerous correspondence to them.
The car we received smelled heavily of Febreze when we picked it up, but the Febreze was masking the stench of cigarette and pot smoking from a previous driver. I purchased disinfecting and odor relieving spray and tried to control the smell for several days without relief. After having the car for several days I also discovered that the temporary license tag on the vehicle was more than a month expired. I called the service line and was told I needed to file a report. I waited on the phone for more than 45 minutes, TWICE, without anyone answering. The third time the person on the other end had a very strong accent and then dropped the call altogether. We had to drive two hours back to the airport where it was picked up to trade it for another vehicle.
Columbus has a modern car rental center and we accessed our vehicle quickly. We had no problems throughout. Shuttle bus crew helped us alot with movement. (Remember to tip the helpful shuttle bus crew who have to lift your heavy baggage.) Pre-paying our rental saved us money and we also received a nice bonus gift card. Check their website.
I sent my experience to corporate when I picked the car up --- not response. I waited almost an hour and 15-20 minutes to get a car. The two workers at the counter made so many mistakes, the computer was not working. About 15 people were standing in line complaining THen I go upstairs to more insanity. My car was not there. The workers I asked did not care and did not know. FINALLY, I spoke with a manager and she directed me to my car. THEN, a warning light came on the day I was bring the car back. Terrible service. will not use avis again and will share my experience on social media.
For some reason, their local is a Big Secret as I cannot reach the Avis location at John Glenn (CMH). I can call any other location in the city but when I try to call this location (shows a local number) all I get are menu options that take me to the Avis National Desk. I just need to know if I can be dropped off at the new rental location to pick-up a car for a local rental???Update: All calls received by the CMH location are directed to their National Reservation phone line. This has not been my experience in the many other cities I have traveled to this year. Sad.Further Update and good news for locals! The new parking garage has an area where you can pickup a rental car. Follow the signs the the Rental Car Facility. Once there follow the signs to the right for the Rental Car Lobby. There you will find 1 hour parking spaces so you can drop off someone for their rental car. Huge improvement over the old rental car facility!
I had pre scheduled my rental. After checking in and going to get my rental. It was not in the assigned parking spot and apparently un available. The next vehicle I was assigned, the oil change light was on. The next car I was assigned was not available. The next vehicle I was assigned had the change oil light on. The final vehicle I was assigned was a black mitsubishi outlander that was not cleaned and had damage to the vehicle good.
STOP STOP STOP. DONT CLICK. This Avis will run out of cars and leave you stranded. At best you will wait at long lines then possible get something with 4 wheels. Disorganized. Understaffed. Incompetent. Google needs a zero star option. BTW, I have the highest status Avis has still doesnt matter. They need a do over it this location.
The assistant at the booth is always extremely helpful if an alternate car is needed due to my allergy to cigarettes smoke. He is friendly great customer service. And the assistant that check the care in upon return greets me by name. we see each other several times a month. He is friendly, always happy, and its good to come home to his greeting. Even when busy working the gate and I check myself in on the return, He will rush over to say hi and make sure everything was good with my rental. I like doing business with Avis just because of the pleasure of doing business with the staff. The team in the garage on the evening shift is Awesome!
After a of day flying, I went to Avis car rental desk to check in. There was three people working. It was around 5:00 p.m. Two of the three people, didnt seem to know what they were doing. Liz must be the manager had to keep stopping and helping the other two people. In an airport car rental agency should always have the most experienced people. When a flight comes in they get busy. I was the second person in line and I had to wait at least 30 minutes. After flying all day and being tired, its very irritable to have to stand there and wait for competent help.
I just rented a car back in May and the prices on the rental cars has skyrocketed like crazy. It doesnt make since that we are getting the same service and they can continue to increase the price, because they want to build a nice fancy building. And they depend on their customers to pay for it. Well that is the American way. They are all crooks.
I was mislead by your reservationist and your web site regarding additional drivers. I was told AARP and family members (and found this in writing on your website) would be no charge as additional drivers. This prompted me to select Avis as the rental company for my vacation. I was also told the free drivers could be added at pickup. When I picked up the card at CMH, I was informed AARP drivers are only free if reserved through AARP and only a spouse is a free family driver. Had to pay for my son and my friend who is AARP member. Very disappointing.
I booked and pre-paid my rental at avis for a RANGE ROVER velor. upon my arrival i was told that we never have range rovers, but we can offer you a jeep wrangler or a pick up truck - neither of these options are like cars to a range rover. i asked to be downgraded in class and was told that since i pre-paid they were unable to adjust my reservation. needless to say i was NOT happy overpaying for a basic car. this is absolutely unacceptable click bait. how does avis.com get away with renting a car that they NEVER have in stock??
I returned the car during a very busy time at the airport, and it was 45 minutes late by the time the attendant scanned the vehicle in. I was charged an extra $80 dollars for an hourly rate, then a $20 charge for a customer facility charge. My $209 rental turned into a $370 rental after all nickel and dime fees were added. Go here if you want to get charged way more than advertised. Awful.
Just thought it was a little expensive to add a day after I already paid for the few days I had. Just feel that if u have a reservation and add a day u should use the rate from the reservation, especially if it is less than 24 hrs prior and you couldnt possibly rent the car to anyone else and have it back to rent to me
Everything was good with this rental except when I made the reservation I was under the impression I was getting a Kia Sole. Instead I was given a Prius. This was significantly smaller than I needed as my passenger was over 450 lbs. And the Attendant at the time of pick up was not very sympathetic to this.
When I got in the Lincoln Continental that I reserved, it had an overwhelming stench. It smelled like someone had smoked a pack of menthol cigarettes and a few Black and Milds. I had to buy a couple air vent air fresheners in order to tolerate it all week. Further dissatisfaction came when I was driving and the speed rose above 60 mph. It sounded like one of the wheels was missing a balancing weight or one of the tire steel belts had snapped. When I was booking the rental, I was expecting to be riding in the lap of luxury of a brand new Lincoln Continental. What I got was the experience of a 92 Toyota Camry.
I rented a car from Avis Columbus Ohio Airport with my debit card and they told me that they hold 200.00 for a security deposit and yet they held 400.00. The contract states that I will recycle security deposit back within 14 days of me returning this vehicle I have made several attempts for them to return my money and I still don’t have my money back. Every time I speak with a rep they don’t seem to be knowledgeable about there job. I am so disappointed with the service at Avis and will not recommend them to anyone.I even placed a complaint and got a case number and still no results.
The car was nice but the customer service women who works in the store in Dover was very RUDE and very unclear about Time and regulations. I got a late fee because THEY were unclear and confused about what day I was too turn the car in, even if they thought I meant Saturday they should have seen in my file it says Sunday and should had made sure I understood they were closed on Sunday and they have no drop box, so they should have made it clear that it was important to get it in by Saturday so I wouldnt have the problem I had returning it. just shows how much they care or pay attention. So I was not happy with Dover Delaware service.
When we arrived to the Avis office at Columbus Airport, they told us there was a problem with our reservation and stated they couldnt help us because there was no manager on duty. They asked us to contact Customer Service to see if they would be able to assist us. We called as instructed it, Customer Service said the only option was cancel my current reservation and make a new one. They said they would refund my money in 2 parts during the week. They made us a new reservation (which means another hold in my CC). We went to the desk with the new reservation. The lady at the desk said they had no cars available for me. She was extremely rude, she yelled at me and my husband, she never explained us why they didnt have the car we reserved. She just said theres nothing I can do for you. After being at the phone with Customer Service Dept for almost two hours, the lady at the desk said they would give us a Mini Van for 15 people. This lady never gave us any option, she just said you take it or leave it and walked away.Avis took from my CC almost $900 that night and I had to leave with a very uncomfortable car that I didnt reserve.I came back next day, talked with a Supervisor, and he said there was no reason for a new reservation, they just needed to adjust my first reserve instead and that would solved the problem. He said the employees are supposed to call him, no matter the time, when they have situations like this. However, the 2 employees working that night did not contact him at all. This supervisor gave us a different car, however, it was not the car I was charged for, but he gave us something similar.Today, I checked my CC to see if my deposit was back... they took $35 more even when we returned the car with full gas. Avis is now asking me for a receipt of the gas station. Both cars, the mini van and the SUV were dirty and asking for a change of oil.I will never rent or recommend this company to anybody! They never showed respect for us, they did not help us or tried to amend all the inconvenience they caused to us.
I rented the car just fine. When I picked up the car the guy who checked me out charged $100.00 to my credit card....no explanation until I saw the charge go through. I called the bank and asked for an inquiry. It was removed. The car itself was Great! Then when I left the motel there wasnt a gas station in sight in an unfamiliar town so I had to go turn the car in. Because I had not filled that tank, I was Charged over $175.00 for gasoline. That is outrageous when you have someone stranded like that with no gas station available. I would never use Avis again nor will I recommend them to anyone and will use my word of mouth to make others aware of their sneaky practices. BEWARE!!!
The reason the guy who help me was very rude and he made me take insurance that I didnt need. two days in a row this happened to me. Then he made me fill like there was an issue with my card but running it and saying he needed to see if there was enough funds for a hold. please note that the people before and after me he didnt do the same thing. I have rented from you guys before and never have i ever been treated the way he treated me.
Asked to prepay for fuel, it wasnt on my rental agreement so I had to refuel before turning car in. Agents working day of rental were no help at all. Asked to switch vehicles and was down graded from a intermediate size to a smaller size.. Which gave no room at all in the backseats when seat was back...Will never rent from Avis again. Horrible experience...but at the time I had no choice..😡😡😡
Our original rental company was closed and posted signs redirected us to Avis. Kadija was there to help and greeted us with excellent customer service. We were seen immediately, no wait time. Kadija was extremely informative and professional. She made our late night flight a BREEZE. We received a nice, clean 2020 Nissan Altima and it had plenty of space for our trip here in Columbus. We will be sure to book our next rental with this company if we will have more service like we did with Kadija!
Car was dirty when I picked it up. So much for COVID cleaning. Dropped car back off and was charged 160$ extra for gas when the car was nearly full. I cant imagine a gallon or two costing that much. Cars are cheaper here because they rip you off later when you turn it in. And instead of fixing the issue, they demanded I provide proof that it was filled, yet could not provide proof that it wasnt full. Wish I could leave a better review, because the prices were good.
The rental process was a good one. However, the interior of the car was Not clean when I picked it up. I expected a pristine interior, especially because of the COVID-19 situation. The vehicle still had items left by previous renters. There was no agent available to demonstrate the various functions of the different amenities in the vehicle. And then, there was no manual to explain those items either. There were many safety features that were not used because there were no instructions as to their existence or function.Adding to the negative was the fact that Avis did not recognize my Wizard number when presented at the pickup counter.
Worst car rental experience of our lives. Started at the rental desk, no wait, I was the only customer. Still took the agent 20min to process the rental agreement, even though I provided all the information in advance online. Car was very smelly with horrible smoke smell and had many scratches and dents. Additionally in order to drive straight the steering wheel was held about 10 degrees to the right. The car made a lot of sounds like it would fall apart any moment. I will never again be an AVIS customer
I would avoid renting from this particular location if at all possible. Service at the counter was slow and lackluster. Even from the guy claiming to be the manager (I didn’t catch his name). Anyway, we rented a 12-passenger van for a trip to the Smoky Mountains. I did a quick walk around the vehicle before leaving the garage. No major damages, but the car was filthy on the outside and there was even oil from someone’s forehead on the inside of one of the windows. It didn’t appear to be vacuumed either - at least not well (so much for extra sanitation during COVID??). What I didn’t check was the tires (I didn’t even think about it). Come to find out, two of the tires had significant damage to the tire sidewalls. One of them looked dangerously impaired. It should NOT have passed inspection for this vehicle to be rented out, and yet we were stuck with it.It took us 10+ phone calls to try to explain things to customer service, and we were continuously told to call the John Glenn location but no one from John Glenn ever answered.Long story short, we had to pay for new tires out of our own pocket (although we FINALLY got through to someone in customer service who cared) and have a case number, and will hopefully be reimbursed.I’ve never had issues like this with a rental before. Bad quality of vehicle, dirty, and terrible service. Pay a little more to get a better rental!
Great experience with Avis didnt know about them and now I do and I highly recommend them. Great customer service at pick up and drop off. The rental I got was exactly what I needed and my family and the kids were comfortable in it. GREAT GREAT EXPERIENCE HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
The vehicle was fine I was actually given a free upgrade to a small SUV due to a lack of vehicles at my pickup location for the days I needed the car was clean and performed fine the only issue I had was when I arrived at the rental counter that there was an excessively long line do the only one employee on duty
I rented a car for 4 days for 291.87 dollars. I wanted to extend my rental for another week. I called Tesfazghi to extend the rental agreement, and I got there with half a tank of gas in the Kia SUV. When I got there, it was 4 pm and I was supposed to return the car at 12 am which means I was supposed to have the car for 8 more hours1. I spoke to Tesfazghi and he said the tab expired, and I couldnt extend the agreement. I then offered to refill the gas and he told me not to worry about it as it had a sufficient amount of gas in it. They then took the key and gave it to Fadumo who gave it to an other customer right in my face. They are now trying to charge an extra $240.06 dollars out of nowhere for the Kia that I never had. Unless you are trying to get robbed and spit on by these disrespectful conniving snakes, you shouldnt rent a car from Avis.
Absolutely horrible customer service from the counter. Me and my husband wanted to get our car and the sales associate wouldn’t listen to our request for payment. Obviously because we were dressed poorly due to us leaving early in the morning in sweats. No one should be treated poorly because of their appearance or any thing else. You are our car lender, you treat us as your customer. Bad bad service. I hope Avis handles this terrible service and takes it seriously. The guy who checked us out is obviously not using common sense.
I would not advise anyone to rent from this location. The staff at the actual site are not very friendly and make you feel like you are bothering them. They initially gave me a car that was 1/2 full of gas even though the rental agreement said it had a full tank. There was also something wrong with the automated interior lights. I was switched to another vehicle, but this vehicle was worse. It reeked of a strong smoke smell that I did not realize was marijuana until after I took off! Horrible! When I checked the vehicle in at the airport garage early in the morning there was no attendant there. They did not check in my vehicle and send me an emailed receipt until 6 days later!! I was told by a customer service rep that I would receive a 1-day refund which I have still yet to receive. I will never rent from here again!
Worst car renting experience ever. Got the vehicle with half tank and was told by the lady who work there that it is also noted in the system. Returned vehicle with more than half tank. They charged me $60 for refueling. Called them sent them photos of odometer/ range when picked and returned. They are asking me receipt receipt of gas station etc. Wasting my time when it was totally their fault.
The car was quite dirty and a little difficult to drive. I wiped the dashboard with a clorox wipe, after it was brown and covered in dirt. The seats and console had stains and dirt on them. Staff was friendly and the car was a full size SUV as I needed, although I would have preferred a Ford Explorer which is much more gas friendly.
I was told on the phone that I would be able to pay for this car out of pocket because the insurance company did not deal with this company but I would be reimbursed 100% irregardless I was told on the phone that I could rent a car with my debit card and this location was at the airport and when I got up there not only did I have to pay $5 for parking at the airport but I also could not rent a car because I did not have a credit card so for everybody out there please do not think that you will get out of here with a rental car without a credit card because that is the only form of payment they will accept no debit cards no prepaid cards you NEED A CREDIT CARD ONLY!! NO EXCEPTIONS
I had made a reservation for mustang months in advance, there were not mustangs. I had to pay more to get a different vehicle. That vehicle had electrical issues. I could not use the USB plug it would pop through the speakers and cut off all electronics on the dash and would keep doing it until you unplugged the device - so could not listen to own music or charge phones in the vehicle. On one occasion it cut off the vehicle. We went back to two other locations in the area and they had nothing, we went back to the airport and he said he couldnt help. We called roadside assistance and they said they would look and call back and never did. They also said for me to try some other Avis locations - we tried two more and then quit. Called back roadside assistance and she said that she would continue to look and call us back with something and never received that call either. Also paperwork said that the vehicle started with 26,000 miles but I took a picture when I went to leave the airport at first and it was 29,650.
My overall experience with AVIS was positive. Lets look where they could have improved. Had to service the front right tire with air twice. The right front headlight was burned out. Did not get my selected car. Got free upgrade to SUV. Preferred full size sedan. SUV had nice bells and whistles. Do not like being offered GPS as an expensive add on. Price point is too high. $5.00 a day is a lot. $15 (the ask) is too high. Columbus, OH Airport (CMH) is an easy airport for car renting. The rental facilities are a short walk from baggage pickup. No need for a shuttle bus wait.
When we arrived at the airport avis, there were 42 people in line ahead of us, there were only two people at the counter handling the whole crowd. The other rental agencies had plenty of workers and were turning out people so fast. we waiting in line 1 hour and 40 minutes which was nearly an hour longer than our flight. During this time one of the two workers took two breaks and left for his lunch.
I was extremely impressed with Stephen at the Avis Car Rental counter at the Columbus Airport. Having previously made a reservation with Thrifty, they were unable to provide me a car, and Stephen was very kind and helped me in my emergency situation to make sure I had a car to get to my final destination. It was late at night and he could have easily dismissed me as they were closed, but he chose to help me and it was much appreciated.
I cannot and will not recommend Avis. Instead I can warn you about how Avis falsely advertises discounts that you will not receive. As a member of the Veterans Advantage Discount program, and an Air Force retiree and disabled veteran on a budget, I carefully researched rental cars and chose Avis specifically because of the advertised 25% discount for veterans. At every step of the rental process, Avis reps told me the discount would be applied when I returned the car and verified my status as a veteran. All of my confirmation receipts listed an estimated total for the month long rental.I arrived early at the Columbus airport with all my identification and paperwork in order for verification during the vehicle return process. There was absolutely no opportunity to speak to an Avis rep at the vehicle return point. The morning after flying home, I called Avis customer service, and was told I had been given a $25.00 discount. I asked to speak with a supervisor, and a second Avis rep named repeated that the discount was twenty-five dollars NOT twenty-five percent. When I expressed my opinion that advertising a 25% discount for veterans and giving only a $25 discount on a >$1600 car rental is misrepresention and false advertising, the call was abruptly disconnected. I did not threaten or use abusive language. Although both Avis reps had confirmed my email and phone number at the start of the call (in case the call was disconnected) no one from Avis reached out to me.I will contact Veterans Advantage next and continue my dispute of this charge with my bank. I will also request through every channel available to me that veterans and veterans organizations are made aware of this SCAM.During my next visit to assist my elderly mother in failing health, I will not use Avis. As a disabled veteran struggling with my own health issues, the month long visit was physically difficult and emotionally heart wrenching. The next time I drive away from my mothers home in tears, I will not be in an Avis rental car.
Easy in and out but the reason Im giving two stars is that the vehicle had an odd chemical shell when I picked it up but it was tolerable. It wasnt until I got to my first stop and and it was parked in the sun a while that I discovered why the funny smell, it reeked of smoke! I hate smoke smelling cars, I hate when people disregard others and smoke in places they know they are not supposed to and I hate the fact that Avis has dozens of cars and they choose to give a presidents club member who clearly selected in his profile a smoke free car, a car that is think with smoke smell!!!
I have been using Avis when I was in Canada, South Korea without any problem. However this time I had unpleasure experience. No water/liquid at the windshield water tank, heating at front passenger seat was not working. And worst of all, battery went dead at the date I had most meeting schedules, and when I called the roadside assistance, I almost need to read every single detail from the rental agreement before the issue was handled. Refused (politely) to send me an exchange car, just provided jump start battery and I needed to drive 20+ miles to get an exchange car. Business meeting schedule messed up completely that day. Will try other rental company for the extended trip
I typically have a good experience and use Avis almost exclusively. This time around, they didnt have the sedan I reserved, so they gave me a small SUV, which I dont see as an upgrade at all, but that was the only other car that they had. On top of that, the car smelled like cigarette smoke, one of the door panels was a slightly different color than the rest of the car, and there were several scuff marks all over the back bumper and taillights. The smoke smell was the worst, the cosmetic stuff wasnt as bad.
There was no comparison from others to the price of our rental vehicle. I placed a call to Avis after looking at the car online. The gentleman was efficient, knowledgeable and gave us a great price. When we picked up the vehicle at Port Columbus Airport, the young lady at the counter could not have been nicer and helpful. When we returned the car, it was quick and easy.Avis will be the first place we look for a rental in the future.
My rental experience was and always has been very nice with Avis! From the time I arrive to there location everything is prepared for my speedy pickup and complete satisfaction! Even after my pickup if I’m not completely satisfied I can exchange my rental to meet my complete satisfaction! Then my return only take minutes and I’m on my way with my receipt and a smile! Being Avis Preferred member means Presidential treatment! And I wouldn’t have it any other way! Thank You Avis Sincerely your Loyal and Satisfied Customer!
Everything is just smooth. From the time I hop off my plane, I know the car will be where it was promised and the seamless return process gives me confidence that I wont be delayed for my next flight. The App is user friendly and very informative. You always have the car(Jeep) that I want and look forward to my next rental!
Worst Customer Service experience ever. Received an automatic email on Sunday 8 am stating my car is ready for pick-up for my reservation on Monday morning at 8 am and yet the car is not available at the drop-off location (that was confirmed). Called the direct phone number that does NOT put you in touch with anybody at the location and only get to a useless Customer Care Center that only offers to modify your reservation and change the pick up location. There is a reason people uses a specific pick location for their rental cars, possibly customers have also a life?!? I know it is a very difficult concept for Vendors to believe they are NOT the last option in the works for their customers. Absolutely disappointing experience with AVIS Customer NON-CARE Call Center.
I rented the car last weekend. The Interiors were horrible. The car had 22k miles on it when I rented it but it looked like it was never cleaned. The dashboard, steering wheel and the doors had lots of liquid splashes. It was such a awful experience. The interiors had a very bad smoke smell. The few good things that I can mention were just that the representative was good and the Chev Malibu was a decent car. I made the complaint at the help desk the lady was not even ready to lend her ears to the problem. I was not expecting an apology at the least.
The two day Avis rental was excellent until I returned the car. The check in was efficient and the employee was very personable. The car was great. I did not experience any problems until I returned the car and the attendant charged me for fuel, when I had filled the tank prior to returning the car. I had the gas receipt in my pocket but the attendant did not ask if I had filled it up, he just charged me. A call to customer service remedied the problem.
Worst rental experience of my life. I reserved and prepaid by phone for a 15 passenger van (although, I would later find out, what they provided was a 12 passenger van) using my VISA bank card. The card was charged and no concerns regarding this mode of payment were raised upon reservation. However, when I arrived at the airport the desk informed me they required a non-debit credit card for me to pick up the van (which I’ve already paid for), a policy not indicated upon my payment nor in the confirmation email nor by any other route. I explain this and am directed to the express booth to talk to the manager. I, along with two other customers, wait at this empty booth for almost 20 minutes before anyone shows up. The manager then tells me the same thing and is simply going to deny me service. Generally, I would give up there, but I’ve driven over an hour from Athens OH to pick up this van, and I am using it the next morning at 7am to drive a dozen low income kids to summer camp. No van, no camp. I am offered no solutions or alternative. To his credit, after I hover and pester for 30-45 minutes, the manager finally did decide to waive it through. Nonetheless, I almost lost out on getting the kids to camp because I trusted Avis would give me a van I had *already paid for* without a protracted verbal battle. To be fair, the staff was polite.
Rental facility is in a well-lit parking garage and vehicle was easy to locate. Upon approaching vehicle I noticed a dent in the drivers side door. I had to point it out to the attendant and request a confirmation form to document because the attendant had no intention of inspecting the vehicle. The vehicle was clean and drove well and met my requirements for an economy vehicle, meaning, it was reliable and got excellent gas mileage. Upon returning vehicle, (again) the attendant had no intention of inspecting it and I had to point out the dent and evidence the form. I realize attendants see hundreds of people every day but car rental is a service industry and impressions are everything. In other words, they could have done better. In summary, AVIS consistently provides reliable, clean cars and overall value and this experience with attendants was an aberration from the past. I have always mentioned AVIS to anyone who asks for a recommendation before renting a vehicle and will continue to do so.
Possibly the worst car rental experience Ive had... We arrive to pick up a car and figured we would ask to see if we can request a specific vehicle (not important, but weve had that option before so it was worth asking). The two ladys behind the counter give us the nastiest look and say no, we dont do that and we dont have the vehicle you want anyway- we didnt even mention the vehicle we would have asked for, she was just being rude. SO, they bring our vehicle up to us and it is FILTHY. Like so dirty that we cant even see out the side mirrors. The inside surfaces had crusty residue on them... We took it to our familys house and washed it down ourselves before our long trip. We got on our journey and a little while in, we noticed that the check engine light was on, checked out the stats, the car had 0% oil life... A little while later the engine reduced power and we are now halfway through our journey trying to find the closest Avis to return the car to. My hope is that they will be able to accommodate us at this new location. If not, this will unfortunately be my last time using Avis. I heavily advise you to not use this location. This is a nightmare.
Worst car I have ever rented, VW Passat, never again. Tried to call to arrange an exchange but was trapped in option hell in your phone system, never being able to get to someone at the rental location. The two people I did manage to talk with couldnt or wouldnt help me. This was supposed to be a premium class car, it seemed more of a base model to me. Other rental agencies have had far better cars in their premium line. Worst ergonomics I have ever had; very difficult for my wife and I to get in and out of, seat and steering wheel would not adjust to any semblance of comfort, leaving my leg against the dash in pain. The windows are a nightmare to operate. Wanted to stall pulling into traffic, expired Virginia inspection sticker (I drove through Virginia twice on my trip). The tire air pressure warning is on, had tires checked several times during my trip, they were all different pressures initially, no signs of leaking. This was a constant state of anxiety for my wife and I. The suspension translates even minor road bumps, pounding our spines. The car was dirty inside and out, it looked like a passing attempt at a wash and the windshield was a mess. When I picked up the car they sent me from the counter to a little both, saying I had a preferred status. I sure dont feel like I have preferred status. My name wasnt on the board out there. The girl in the booth acted like I was bothering her and said my name should be on the board, sent me back to the board. Usually I get a choice of cars but she sent me off into the garage to find a parking space number. Bottom line, I can rent cheap garbage much cheaper without driving a half hour to you. I rent fairly often for business and personal. I drive distance, so Im looking for a premium vehicle when I do this. If your location cant provide a decent vehicle we wont be able to do business in the future.
Except for the unfriendly executive at the counter, everything else went fine with my rental. I got a crisp new Toyota Corolla. It was clean and well maintained. I wish the side mirrors were cleaned before giving it to me. I did not check them till I got on the road. Had a little bit of hard time cleaning the side mirrors on the road. It was difficult to check side traffic without it. Avis mobile app wasn’t very helpful.
Arrived to pick up my vehicle that I had reserved via Priceline. The rep had asked if I wanted to use the discounted gas option where Avis would fill refill the car charge the discounted rate per gallon. The rep further explained that if the mileage fell below 75 miles, that a charge of 13plus dollars would be charged as a flat rate, to which I agreed to. Then the rep asked multiple times regarding the additional roadside assistance package where I repeatedly declined the option since I have such services already through my credit card. Upon checking in the vehicle, I find out that the gas option was to refill the ENTIRE TANK and not the gallons that were used. I also find out that the road side safety package was also added even after multiple refusals. The Avis employee did a poor job explaining the services fully and in mind dishonestly added the road side service package. I will not be using Avis services again.
We found our rental ready and waiting, but decided to upgrade to a luxury model because costs were discounted. It was a great rental, and a breeze to check in and check out. We appreciated that at this airport the rental car area is directly attached to the terminal. So easy and traveler friendly! Avis staff was cheerful and even gave us recommendations for nearby places to stop and eat before leaving for an hours drive to our destination,
The car I received (Subaru Outback Blue ) had a mechanical problem that caused it to not work. The car battery was discharged after I drove it about 35 miles and parked it and then tried to start it the next day. The car was out of service the next day which I had to charge it myself with a battery charger. Fortunately I was on a personal trip and had access to a car charger. If I would have been on a usual business trip I would have had to call a taxi and had the car towed. When I called in (twice on 9/22) I was advised that I would have to pay for the tow charges on the first call. The second call was more helpful in that they troubleshot me through the car battery discharge diagnosis and advise that this car model sometimes has a problem with the GPS discharging the battery. On the first call, maybe I mis-understood, if this was because I declined the car insurance, I think it is a bad business practice to charge your customer when your rental equipment fails. If this would have been a business trip, my companys policy is to decline all of the additional insurance, and they would have fought you on charging me to get a defective rental car towed.
Good value. Great service - quick, efficient and friendly. The only slight issue I had was the vehicle I rented had a recall issued during the rental period- had 7 days to bring it in so brought it back at the end of my rental. The vehicle itself was clean and again good value for what I rented it for. Will rent again from Avis for sure! Sign up with Avis preferred for quick service.
They gave me a SUV with literally bold tires on. Im taking trip to chicago. I have to be there at 10am. Now I can’t drive this car! Snow storm going on in columbus. Great job AVIS! Keep it up. I called costumer service 4 times and thry hang up phone to my face! They said this location is open till 1am i got here at 12:30am they were closed! Omg AVIS MADE MY DAY! THANKS AVIS I WILL TELL ALL OF MY FRIENDS HOW GOOD AVIS IS.Update: had to push my lawyer appointment to 3 pm. Avis gave me a new car.Another update: AVIS CHARGED ME FOR REMOVING WINDOW TINT.same car as i rented with bold tires. I asked for proof and they don’t have any proof to show me. This is BS. Never gonna come back to AVIS.
We needed a rental for a trip to see family - Avis was a friendly company to rent with. A system glitch when dropping the car back off was handled quickly and the staff member taking the car back was very personable! The only complaint is the price jump after surcharges when booking the rental - around $100... likely wed find that anywhere, but the $200 rental quickly shot to $300 at check-out. Very disappointing.
I usually love to come to this place and get cars because they usually have the cheapest cars which is great. But when I got home one time I had a charge of $179 and some odd cents on my credit card.So I researched it for a few days to figure out what the charge was because it just came up and said Avis Rent A Car. Well I discovered that it was for an upgrade that I did not ask for and did not agree to. So I called them and was pretty much told we dont care. So of course I disputed it with my credit card company and they agreed and gave me credit. But it had to go back to Avis and they sent a form with a signature so it got reversed. This is ridiculous, what ever happened to the customer is always right. I pre-ordered my car to get it for great price. So when I get there to pick it up, the representative acted like the car I ordered wasnt available and offered me another. I asked if there was an extra charge and the representative said no. I didnt think anything else about it and didnt know about the extra charge until I brought the car back and the employee that checked me in handed me my receipt. What a terrible company policy having your representatives upsell by lying and stealing from your customers. The first time was for $179 and I am still fighting with them for a refund since 11/2016.So of course I am not going to stop traveling because of one bad experience. So we needed another car for another trip, so again I got a great deal on a pre-pay and it just happened to be through Avis, again. So I decided to give them another try. No problems, no extra charges, cool.So third time is usually the charm, not this time. Pre-paid again for economy car for 6 days. Picked the car up, declined everything, read everything before signing, everything showed as declined. Then about 2 or 3 hours into the trip I got a notification from my credit card of a charge on my account. I pulled up my credit card account info and there was a $100.00 charge. This is probably a pre-auth but it is still there 5 days later. The $100.00 charge did finally come off my card but it wasnt until the following Monday. Good thing I didnt need that money for something important.
My rental experience has always been great at the airport location. My only complaint is sometimes the vehicles will have trash left in them, pet hair on the seats and/or dirty on the outside as well. The staff always have a great attitude when I approach the counter or returning a vehicle and each are willing to assist with no questions asked. I’ll continue to use the Columbus Ohio Airport location.
I was not given the car I rented. I prepaid for a mustang (equivalent). I got a Jeep that was very rough and expensive on gas. The interior smelled awful and obviously had been smoked in prior to my rental. The amount of driving I had to do the gas mileage cost me at a minimum $82.
I would not recommend Avis/budget for a car rental. We had to wait in line for approximately 45 minutes before even being serviced to get a car. Even though there was a long line, an associate left for lunch, leaving only two people to service those of us that were waiting I had prepaid for a full-size car but was given economy car because of the lack of inventory. When I finally finished the paperwork, I had to wait outside for another 15 minutes for them to bring the car up front . The car smell like smoke which agitated my seasonal allergies and was dirty on the outside. When I returned the car, I was told I needed to go into the Avis/budget facility to get a receipt even though I pre-paid. When I went to the facility I was told that I did not need to get a receipt because I had pre-paid.
Avis had great customer service all around. One day I couldnt complete my rental because of an issue with my bank and customer service handle my problem in a timely manner and with a great attitude. All cars were nice and clean. I would highly recommend Avis when renting a car.
Rented from this CMH airport location on a recent business trip, and had one of the worst rental experiences of my life. I dont write reviews often, but this one is noteworthy, so I will go in depth. As if it makes any difference I am also a preferred member, something which you will see does not matter.--When attempting to pick up my car, it took them 30 minutes to get me a car, while 5 people were able to work with the second associate to complete their check ins and get their cars (mine was reserved ahead of time as well). Also notable was that my co-worker (first time using Avis) was given an upgrade for free while I did not get one. Not a big deal, but ended up being significant when 6 inches of snow fell the next day and they had an SUV to my Malibu.--When I finally went to get in my car, found it was parked literally 8 inches from another one on the drivers side. Wasnt planning on climbing over the center console in a suit, so went back to let them know.--Waited another 5 minutes in 10 degree weather at the quick-pick station for them to get me another car that wasnt parked in.--New car has a strong smell of cigarette smoke on the interior, but Im already late for my client meetings, so I pull away regardless.--I got stopped at the gate because my paperwork doesnt match this car and spend another 5 minutes there.--On the way to return the vehicle after 2 days have to drive through snow/slush (as expected in CBus), find washer fluid is empty after trying to wipe away dirty slush. Luckily only have a slow drive on side road to airport otherwise this would have been a legitimate safety concern on the highway.--Topped up the tank and only had to put in less than 2 gallons including hitting the gas pump a tiny bit more after it clicked to make sure it was full.--Upon arrival, check-in person scans my car and gives me a receipt. I ask if she needs to check inside the car and she says no. --Turns out the check in person MADE UP FRAUDULENT the gas level to say we didnt fill it and charged me $13/gallon to fill it (note it was already full as previously explained).--Check in person also MADE UP FRAUDULENT mileage (as again, she did not check the odometer/gas level). This seems insignificant since I was on an unlimited mileage plan, but I feel at risk now in case there is damage done to the car while someone else drives the car within the mileage range I supposedly drove. This was a very short trip, so I remember every single time I drove the car. Combined mileage I drove with a 20% buffer added on to be conservative is 60 miles. They recorded that I drove 90 miles. Reporting this and fuel part to BBB.--While still in the airport I discovered the fraudulent charges and called Avis customer service. Explained the situation and that I still have time to go back and prove the car has gas/lower mileage. Person on the phone requires me to give the name of the gas station I used, how many gallons I put in, the cost per gallon, and total cost. Luckily I kept the receipt for $4.95 (which I am not required to by work), or I wouldnt have had this information handy and potentially would have been refused refund. Since when is a customer with a long history assumed guilty until they can provide the exact specifications of their gas refill??? Especially when you are the ones who are trying to DEFRAUD them? This place is insane!I just wanted a business trip with no hiccups and unfortunately found the exact opposite. Everything about my Avis experience here was terrible and I do not plan on going back.
I rented with Avis at this location on 9/9/16. I made my reservation online and was thrilled with the price. I landed in Columbus at 11:20pm on Friday and immediately made my way over to them. I picked Avis because of name recognition and because they were opened late. However my experience was poor. When I got up to the counter I gave the girl my confirmation number and waited as she pulled up my information. She read over my reservation and told me to select agree on the screen before me if what she went over was correct, I agreed. Her final words to me were Is an Impala okay?. I asked about the Buick I had reserved and she did not comment so I said if that is all she had then the Impala was fine. Huge mistake. I learned later that according to Avis an Impala is a premium vehicle aka $20.00 a day more. Also learned that the girl behind the counter was nothing short of a thief. Although she verbally went over my reservation and said I had no type of insurance on the car she still slipped in a $15.00 a day policy. After taxes I owed an additional $80.00.Where I messed up was being so trusting. You would think that if someone reads to you what you reserved that that is what you would receive. Also, if an upcharge is going to occur please mention it to the customer. The next day when I was at my hotel I read over the contract she printed and noted that it was not what I had reserved. Avis informed me if I made it back to their rental center within 24 hours that my original reservation would be honored. Only problem was I had a wedding and I refused to potentially miss that. The icing on the cake was the customer service. Avis, if I am frank with you your customer service sucks. I was so mad when I was told my original agreement would be honored if I returned. They knew they pulled a bait and switch on me.I made an $80.00 mistake but I hope my review prevents others from the same mistake. In the end, I cancelled my upcoming business with Avis because I cannot do business with people I do not trust. This was the first time I have ever used a car rental service and I can say with 100% certainty that I will never pay for another Avis/Budget rental ever again. Terrible employees.
Rented a New,Clean, and Proper Mustang. Service was great, car was very nice and overall experience was easy. Only complaint is the lack of parking avail (without fee) for car rentals. I understand that the business model for this location is to support those coming off planes and not having vehicles to lay in while utilizing a rental. Other than that, the service, product and experience was great.K.W. Hilliard, Oh
The service at this location was awful. I travel for a living and have never had a problem renting a car. The agent refused to rent me a car because i use a debit card. There was no warning on the website that this lication refuses debit cards. Tess, the agent on duty was rather unhelpful and quite rude as he tossed the card back at me, he was actually laughing at me as he basically told me to pack sand. As someone that rents Avis/Budget cars probably 25 times a year, they just lost me as a customer. As a customer they left me stranded with no options. So much for We Try Harder.
This is by far the worst car rental that I have ever used. If I was able to give a negative number for my review, I would. We arrived in Columbus early due to a flight change, not by our choice. We arrived an hour early at 11pm. When arriving to the Avis located at the airport, we were told we weren’t able to get the car until 11:50 because we pre paid. It was never explained to us that if early arrivals were to happen we wouldn’t be able to get the car until the exact booked time because we booked through a 3rd party, which was Priceline. (This would have been understandable if the car was rented out, but the employee showed us the car we would be using sitting in the lot.) Upon calling Priceline they said it was a problem Avis had to handle. This is an airport, aren’t flights getting switched daily? The staff were rude and condescending and spoke to us like this was our fault and we should have known better. Avis, I really hope you learn to communicate better with your customers and your third party if you don’t want to continue to lose customers. We will never be using you again and we will be sure to let anyone know how horrible your company really is.
There is too much technology for long lines. Ppl can scan their drivers license put all required info into the system and get a freakin bar code and checkin at a kiosk...desk optional to get a darn car!On top of this a long as line...one worker & there are 20 ppl behind me!!
The ease of pick up and drop off was really smooth. The agents were friendly and extremely helpful. I enjoy that with avis you can pre-pay so at drop off you can just leave the vehicle and go. With most rental companies I have to use my credit card to hold it then stand in line to give my debit card so the charges are not on my credit card. That is an excellent perk especially with a lot of the long lines. I will definitely continue to shop thru Avis.
I prefer Avis Car Rental and have rented vehicles from their numerous terminals throughout the USA. This one at Port Columbus Intl Airport ranks as the least best. I keep coming back because the location offers a nice selection of vehicles at a reasonable price. The problem here is the vehicles do not get cleaned very well, inside & out. The local management is also great at defining periods of time when exchanging or upgrading is not possible because of some rather normal events in the state of Ohio.
Avis Preferred is the way to go, so convenient and easy. I always get the e-mail from the Port Columbus facility telling me where my car is. From there, it is get in and go. Getting out of the facility is super easy too. They scan the car and look at my license and I am on my way. Return is just as easy, I leave the keys on the dash and Im off to the terminal. A few minutes later my receipt arrives by e-mail.All in all, Avis could not make car rental easier, and Port Columbus is a top facility like many airports. Great experience as always.
I requested a compact car through my companys reservation system, and when picking up my car, was told no compacts were available. The man at the counter (who was from Annandale, VA and about to go on vacation there to visit when I picked up on 1/29/18) told me he would provide an upgrade to an SUV free of charge, and when I asked several times when walking through the rental agreement since I told him my company would not reimburse me for any upgrade costs, he showed me the daily rate was the same as the compact at $36/day and that the increase in fee was due to taxes and an airport surcharge since I was picking up the car at the airport. Unfortunately, I did not review the bill when dropping off the car, and realized afterwards that I ended up being charged a $19/day upgrade fee that turned the daily rate to $55/day. After calling customer service, Avis refused to provide a refund for the difference and would only offer a $28 refund for the overall bill, which was for 1 week. In addition to the poor customer service and complete deception from the Avis CMH rental counter, this is the second car Ive rented there in the past month, and both cars have reeked of cigarettes, with my previous rental also being dirty with trash throughout the car (bottles, eyeliner makeup packaging, etc.). I will NOT be renting from Avis again when I travel to CMH in the future.
I booked my reservation through Priceline and prepaid for my Nissan Versa or similar at the time I booked it. When I arrived at the counter to pick up my car, the woman at the desk asked is a Volkswagon Jetta ok? We said yes, signed the contracts and had a lovely weekend. Upon returning the car, we took the receipt and flew home. Recently, I checked my credit card receipt to find that I had been charged $106 at the time we returned the car. After speaking with a customer service agent at Avis, we learned that the Volkswagon Jetta was an upgrade at $25 per day. Please note that no one informed us of that upgrade when asking if that car was ok....the only mention of the car was asking if it was ok. Since I signed the contract, which apparently noted the upgrade charge (it was 11pm when we were getting the car and I was ready to be in bed after a long day at work and flying), there is apparently nothing Avis can do since these are valid charges. This is a prime example of a lack of communication between an Avis employee and a customer. I will not be using Avis in the future.
I got a new Ford Explorer. The car was clean and well maintained.I noticed the starting mileage on the odometer did not match the mileage on the paperwork. I took a picture of the odometer as I left the airport. When I turned the car in I showed them the picture and the paperwork. The staff corrected the information in the computer and apologized for the error.I always use Avis because the cars have always been new and in good shape.
Got to the preferred counter at 11:30pm after a long day of work and travel + travel delays. Every single name on the preferred center board had CTR next to it . What, not ONE single person has a car ready for pickup?Customer service rep barely said two words to me and seemed more intent on filing car return paperwork than getting me a car. After several minutes she shoved the paper at me and said B26 (or whatever it was). Maybe this was why all the CTRs on the board? So much for preferred service. On return, location was an absolute mess - barely enough room to get into the return lot, so many cars not moved on after check back in. Avis either needs more staff or a better organised return system. My company has an account with Avis, so I use them fairly often (2-3 times a month minimum), but lately I am seriously reconsidering due to this and other experiences. Two stars cause the car was ok.
In general I like Avis. They usually have clean cars that are reasonably new and with good options, and a reasonable price. However, I really do not like whatever they wash the cars with. When it rains this is not good. The rain drops spread on the windshield instead of beading, and then smear across it. Using the wipers is only partially helpful. Seeing out is then a disaster. The Columbia facility is ok, but the Preferred kiosk is outside, and in the winter, having to wait is not fun.
Was about to turn me away with no car because of a debit card policy not mentioned when I booked. While sitting to find a hotel and ride I asked did they accept any other form of payment. While walking away she asked if I had a return flight (turns out you can use debit if your flying. Go figure). Was then given a credit check and the car I reserved was not available. Was heading to a funeral and needed a sedan for family. Was offered a Jeep or Mustang. Again a funeral, not off roading or racing. Major fail on Avis. Customer service is getting worse every year. Eventually they realized they had an impala and gave me that. However, the car was dirty. Bird dropping’s on hood, sun roof and drivers door. Staff eventually accommodated me and washed the car. But they have very little to work with from corporate.
They upgraded me and never verbally stated the cost was going to be twice what I already paid when I reserved. I never ask for a upgrade and did not need one as I was trying to save money on cost of trip including gas. I tried to dispute they said well you signed. Seriously if you rent from them READ EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU SIGN. they use to be good but last couple times cars have been dirty and not willing to correct a scam they did to me to benefit them likely employee gets BONUS for upgrading so they sneak it in. I am a avis rewards memeber so typically they upgrade me FREE so when he said he upgraded me I assumed Free As usual. They tend to do that when they run out of car I reserved. My avis profile is even set to cheapest car to rent. PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS RENTING FROM THEM THEY ARE SNEAKY AT SCAMMING UP GRADES.
Friendly and polite staff and GREAT vehicles.I recently rented a full size car that was somewhat small for hauling three people and associated luggage. The service attendant noticed there could be an issue with the size of vehicle we reserved and provided us with a free upgrade.Awesome customer service!
Do not, I repeat, DO NOT rent a car from this location. Actually, dont rent a car through AVIS at all. Especially dont do it through a pre-paid company like Priceline. If I could provide a negative star to this place and company, I would.Almost a month ago, I rented a car for a business trip to Columbus for a week. I did it through Priceline and prepaid for the rental. When I got there at the airport to pick up the Ford Focus that they gave me (which is a car you shouldnt drive period considering its horrible track record), it stated that it had low tire pressure. Before I left the lot, I asked someone to check it for me. They looked and said it was perfectly fine and that the sensor can be sensitive at times. I drove off, thinking nothing of it. However, on my way to visit family who lived an hour away, some stranger in another car on the highway got my attention and told me that the tire (the one that I pointed out) was very flat. I exited the highway, pulled into a gas station and saw that the tire was, indeed, flat. It was a good thing it didnt blow or cause the car to veer off at high speeds. I waited over an hour for roadside assitance, to which the lady I spoke to on the phone told me I would not be charged for this service. They put the spare on and I returned it the next day. I was given another vehicle and told I would not be charged for this incident. Here we are, a month later, and I have not gotten a refund from Avis, and I checked my bank account today to see that they even charged me for the replacement tire.I tried to call this location 6 times and they did not answer the phone. I tried to call them a month ago when the tire was flat and it was the same thing. Instead, Im directed to the companys main customer service department, whom Ive been arguing with for the past month over the refund and now this random tire charge. Its been a joke and Ive been told that both transactions will be taking 5-7 business days to resolve, when one of them shouldve been taken care of a month ago. Im currently owed close to $170 for a rental that cost me $210. Im still disputing with Priceline for the rest of the money Im owed over this as well. Its been a horrible experience and I will NEVER rent from AVIS, Priceline or even pick up a car to rent from the Port Columbus locations ever again.
Waited an hour to pick up an SUV that I could not drive because I have asthma and the vehicle had been smoked in. Then waited another hour to exchange it. There was only one staff member working the counter for Avis, Budget, and Payless (all the same company) when he called for assistance no one came to help him.
I like Avis for many reasons, but here are my top two. Airport locations are almost always out of whatever class I rent (normally luxury) so getting an upgrade to their signature or specialty series means I get a BMW or Mercedes for the cost of a Lincoln MKZ rental. Not bad at all!Avis also doesnt put hundreds of dollars on hold on your credit card so you dont have to worry if youre on a budget or only have one or two credit cards in an emergency. Its a nice feeling knowing you have more spending power instead of a $350 hold for an $89 rental. (Im looking at you, Enterprise.)Staff at the airport have been fine; nothing too major to complain about but also nothing spectacular. The last time I rented, (08/08/17), the only available luxury car was a base mode Ford Explorer. When I asked if there was anything else coming in, she got on the phone (annoyed that I asked) but called in a Lincoln MKT from the lot and had it delivered. It was a nice gesture but it would have been nice if she was more kind about me asking for the class I rented instead of angry. I make it a high point to be extra kind and respectful to anyone in the service industry and I know I would never treat her or her family like that, so its unfortunate the way she responded.
The ease of access was wonderful from making the reservation to the return of the car. We were likely enough that the desk was still open even though our flight was delayed. The vehicle was great and very nice, only thing would have been better if I could have paid the same for the Equinox as the Focus that I had reserved but that was given to the customer in front of me so that cost me more.ThanksJohn and Ginger Duffy
Two elderly codgers get in a smallish car. Head rest uncomfortable for my wife.Technology a little complicated. Couldnt unlock the trunk to get our suitcases out.Total bafflement. The folks back in the office were helpful and not at all judgmental of our technological ineptness. Our car at home is a 2006 Avalon. We got a car we could understand, a slight upgrade. Enjoyed driving it.The return process was incredibly quick and convenient. Will be calling Avis again on future trips.
I made a reservation using my Amazon benefits and then when my flight got delayed more than 2 hrs, they changed my reservation and removed my Amazon benefits - SO NO AMAZON benefits... I only use Avis with my Amazon benefits as otherwise you are too high. This is the 3 or 4th time you have done this to me and Im NOT HAPPY!!
I would advise you to call the location to see if they even have the car you want to rent available. I called 3 different locations and they told me the Ford Explorer was hard to come by. That was after they gave me a Kia Sorento. That wasnt similar enough for what I needed.
I have rented from this Avis 3 times and have had great experiences. They always have several choices for me and the check-in and check-out processes are very quick and easy. Once they gave me a Chevy Cruze that smelled like smoke, so they upgraded me to a Ford Edge for free! I will rent from here again.
If I could I would give it zero stars. Rental cars are not clean and very dirty before pick up. Blood all over back seat of first luxury suv assigned and dog poop fecal stains in other car. And dog poop behind drivers back seat gross. We don’t own a dog so we inspected car before accepting and let Avis customer service know how gross the experience of cars and had them claim responsibility if there was an issue.
The Avis rental car company did the old bait and switch. As soon as my purchase was made through Priceline, I called the specific rental car company--Avis at the Columbus International Airport. They assured me that the van I paid for would be either a Chrysler Town & Country or a Dodge Grand Caravan, and it would be available on the date and time I requested. The day of my pick-up, I called the rental car company two hours before my scheduled pick-up to make sure it was still scheduled for us. I was told at that time that, yes, the van was actually already available, and we could pick it up anytime from the time I called (around 4:00 pm) until 2 hours after our appointment. The man also informed me that it was a Chrysler Town and Country, and that it was a 2015 or 2016.When we arrived to pick up the van at approximately 7:15 pm, they provided a smaller van, a Kia. It is over 3 cubic feet smaller than the Town and Country. Never in any of my calls was a Kia mentioned. We had three men over 6, plus a toddler in a carseat, plus two other people travelling, so size mattered. I did not ever mention the Town and Country over the phone; the two Avis employees are the ones who name the make and model of the car we would receive (not like those makes and models...we were told we would receive a specific make and model.)Marc, the manager at the pick-up counter, insisted there was no Town and Country for us, even though we were told there would be. In addition, he was condescending and had no customer service in his personality. After we explained to him that we were told at 4:00 that a Town and Country was waiting for us, we then called the main office of Avis. We explained the situation to them, as well. Low and behold, a Dodge Caravan appeared--available to us. It was filthy and still had the previous renters trash in it, and the back of the passenger seat was broken, but it was more the size of what we paid for. We took it home, washed the inside, and were finally able to plan our trip. Why did they try to force a smaller van on us? I suppose they wanted to rent the larger for more money. We have no idea what happened to the Town and Country that was waiting for us.
Every time I have rented from the two Avis locations near me, I have been pleased with my experience. They are always able to accommodate my family when we travel together. My husband and son are both 65+ and they have switched our vehicle to something that is spacious for all of us.Avis is always my first choice.
One of the worst place to rent car. Reservation confirmed on Avis app but agent could not find and the agent on 10/15 at 12.30 AM was rude and said cannot find and to wait an hour. Are you serious?I called the customer care number from app and he was even worse saying he doesnt know how to help.Avis is a joke and never renting from Avis. Tells a lot about a company.
I reserved a full size and all they could give me was a Corolla. Very uncomfortable. We waited for over an hour for them to bring it up and never did. A young lady stopped to see why we were still waiting and she went to find another on. The vehicle had multiple dents, scuffs. I am very unhappy with avis
ALWAYS CHECK YOUR RECIEPT- Every time I turn in my car, and buy gas I am charged fuel service. I show the receipt to the attendant - and tell them not to charge me - and they still do. Then I have to wait in line at the AVIS desk to get it straightened out - and almost miss my plane.
As always, the experience with Avis was smooth and uneventful. Getting to the rental counter is a bit of a hike from the baggage claim, but thats the same for all of the rental car counters. Received a Hyundai Elantra as a mid-size car, which was a bit smaller than I had expected and there was no key faub (remote entry). Overall, great experience as usual.
Horrible Customer service! I will never rent from Avis again. They sent me away with the remote starter and it was a nightmare to resolve. My end result... I had to pay for a Uber and drive to the airport, pick up the key fob and Uber back to my car. Out of pocket $66!
Unbelievable nightmare. STAY AWAY! 45 minute line with one person at the desk. “Blama” was deceitful, rude, insolent, and careless. The whole waiting line was literally dazed and shocked at the terrible service. The AVIS workers have 1 job; assign cars to customers. They gave two people the wrong car or wrong paperwork, then when those customers couldn’t get out the gate, made them wait in the 45 min line again!!!, couldn’t take payments from credit cards that were perfectly good, tried to trick every customer into purchasing protection plans, never said sorry. Then the whole computer system closed down!!, and the whole line of customers was moved outside to the kiosk desk out in the parking garage. WOW! And all at 1:00 am!
I have used this particular location 3 times and time I have been fortunate enough to have the assistance of Shaphon. She is extremely helpful and a great listener. My last three rentals couldn’t have been better. I will be returning in a week and looking forward to the same great service in the future. Thanks Avis!!
They tried to upsell me from the start. When we returned it, the guy checking us in scanned the barcode and told us to wait and left us standing there for 20 minutes. Nobody knew where he went. To top it off, they snuck in a $15.99 ($22 after taxes and fees) under 75 mile flat fee that only applied if it wasnt refilled. The manager first told me, without even looking at my receipt, that was because it was one-way. She finally corrected it and apologized after I told her how rude the check in attendant was. I will be going with Hertz next time!!!
You may get a better rate from Avis, but do NOT get a car from them out of the Columbus Airport. The first time we got a vehicle from them here, they upcharged us after I specifically told them we wanted no upgrades.I am now standing in line waiting to get another vehicle and there are three agents behind the counter. The line is moving at a snails pace and I have no idea when we will ever get to the counter. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...

2021-12-10Reason I took a star off there was no windshield wiper fluid but other than that I dont know why it has such bad reviews, I love the experience. It was easy you go in the front entrance, they hand you a paper and a number. You go and find the number on paper and take car. Keys in car easy process.

2022-06-06The worst customer service in the rental industry. There’s a reason every single other company here is sold out of cars except for Avis. Even Dollar was out of cars. The two slowest employees checking out customers, I waited in line for an hour and a half just to be told I had to be downgraded but for the same price because I prepaid. Horrible customer service, horrible management!! Do better!!!

2022-06-20Rented a car for a 1500 mile trip. The car was a fully loaded Chevy Traverse and we loved it. Very roomy and comfortable. I rented it under the category “elite SUV”. The best part was the speed and efficiency of the return process. Just drove it into the car rental return garage at the airport, parked and left the keys, and walked away. Less than 10 mins later I received a receipt via email and the $200 deposit was refunded to me. No hassle whatsoever. Very pleased. Will definitely choose Avis again.

2021-08-03If I could give a negative star for this Avis location, I would give a negative five stars. In the day of covid, this rental car facility has the audacity to rent out vehicles that are absolutely DISGUSTING!My husband went to the Columbus airport and rented a Jeep Wrangler for the day to go to Cedar Point for my sons birthday with some buddies. The first car given was wreaking of cigarette smell. My husband instantly told them he needed another car, so they gave him a Jeep Wrangler. The rental car place is in a garage, so because of the bad lighting we were unable to see the condition of the black seats, the inside of the car and it was night time when it was rented. The next morning, we were in SHOCK. The smell in the car was horrific as if something or someone had urinated in the vehicle. I guess once the weather warmed up, it enhanced the smell. We decided to put the kids in another car and just have one other person in the passenger seat of this nasty vehicle. The car had not been cleaned at all because there was a water bottle left in the back seat from the last customer, which tells me that the car had not been sanitized either, which makes for a health risk since the world is still battling covid. It makes me furious because I have buried family members who have died from the virus and for a rental car company not to sanitize their vehicles ensuring there are not droplets from the last customers is disappointing and careless.I am a travel advisor and I will ensure my clients will never rent from this Avis rental car facility. I will also be contacting corporate because this experience was ridiculous.

2022-05-13I had this rental reserved for a week. When I arrived in Columbus there was one car left in the lot with keys, the staff had left and had not assigned me a car. The exit guard (not an Avis employee) tried to help but she and the Avis customer service rep on the 800 line could not assign the car to me. I had a Dr. appointment in Detroit the next morning and was stranded at the airport. I had to book a hotel at the airport and was too late to cancel the hotel I had reserved. I would not expect this kind of service to any renter much less a President Circle member. No apology, no email warning me (in fact I received and email confirming my rental and telling me to check in at the Preferred Booth). Crickets!

2022-06-22Very thankful for their honest and helpful team at this location. I accidentally left something valuable in the back of a car I rented and the attendant turned it in and I was able to get it back the next day. Normally things like this don’t happen, it’s good to know there are honest people. We’ll definitely be back.

2022-06-03Kind of confusing with minimal signs and no in-person staff to help, but overall still pretty efficient. VERY limited selection of cars. Like… their lots was mostly empty spaces with maybe five cars total to choose from. Will probably choose a different agency next time at this airport just to ensure something I am comfortable with is available. I got lucky this time.

2022-03-30Not a good place to get a rental. They had me waiting for almost 30 minutes while they were in another open room having a personal conversation. They have not released my deposit (2 weeks now). Did not rent me a car because they had not processed my return yet (over 3 days ago). You get what you pay for...Budget Rental, Budget Customer Service, Budget Attention, and Budget Intelligence.

2022-03-21This Avis Car Rental - Avis Preferred - was very efficient even while dealing with internet bugs. The staff was very friendly and helpful although today his system stopped updating around 10:00am and I showed up at 3:00pm. The car was in emaculate condition and super clean inside. Even with the glitch I was in and out in less than five minutes.

2022-07-06I had terrible experience with AVIS. I was devastated with their customer service. I was little late to drop off the vehicle and they did charge way much extra cost than estimated cost. At the time of pick-up they gave us estimate of 100.44 and when they send the bill after return, it was 380.Then when I tried to reach out to customer service, oh my god, I cant imagine how worse it is. I tried repeatedly for 2 days to talk to customer service. When I talked to customer service, found out they charged us on many titles that doesnt make any sense. They even charge for fuel where we drop vehicle with full tank. There is no way I am gonna choose AVIS again and If you are also trying to rent a vehicle, and you want peace of mind I recommend to avoid AVIS.
