I’ve been seeing Martha off and on for 5 or so years now. Followed her to avenues from another provider prior to her joining here. I was so pleased all of last year that she was so easily able to see me via video call/telehealth! It made it so simple to prioritize my health while also prioritizing my and my family’s safety during the covid19 pandemic. It was encouraging to see how much avenues cared for me but also their employees during a time with so many unknowns. I’ve always felt that Martha has provided excellent, evidence based counseling. It is clear that Avenues supports her in this endeavor. Thanks for all that you do!
After as much research as my health insurance website and google would allow, I identified a couple of potential therapists and called Avenues.... I had to wade through a phone tree to leave a message, which wasnt returned until the next day (Is this Covid-related; I dont know, but its not convenient). The Intake person then matched me with a different counselor and set up an initial teletherapy appointment. It went as expected, which is to say, mostly info gathering rather than any real therapeutic content. However, in relating my concerns, I did become emotional, so Marty was aware that I was in a precarious place. We agreed on a second appointment and she gave me directions on how to request appointments via the software/app.Two days before our second appointment, she canceled via the software/app with no explanation other than personal reasons. No apology, no attempt to reschedule, nothing. For anyone unfamiliar with the therapeutic process, the primary job of a practitioner in the early stage of counseling is to make their client/patient feel safe; to build rapport and encourage disclosure and trust. This behavior is opposite of that.Through the software I canceled the appointment I had scheduled for the following week, stating that her behavior had eroded my trust in her.A day later (theres a pattern), the admin/intake person left me a voicemail saying she saw the note and wondered if I wanted to try with another therapist. I called back, got the phone tree/voicemail (pattern again) but declined to leave a message for reasons I probably dont have to explain. So in the end, I paid $85 to be disrespected and inconvenienced and still havent gotten the treatment I needed in the first place.
I see Rachel Turner with virtual therapy sessions and its really nice to be able to stay out of the office during a pandemic and still get the same great care. The whole staff is wonderful, the check in process for virtual therapy is a little weird. You have to go into an app to check in and then go to a separate site and sign in again and the app is kind of annoying, but you can make payments through the app and see your upcoming appointments, so its not totally useless, just silly to check in twice. Ive forgotten to check in on the app and checked in on the computer and had to get a message saying please check in on the app so we can get started on more than one occasion. A minor gripe for a really great practice.
Monica Reider has been a wonderful resource, source of support, and offers expert assistance. She is always so kind and supportive. My experience with the office staff has been very positive. They’re at all times helpful and friendly. I highly recommend this practice.

2022-07-18When my wife was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and I became her 24/7 caregiver, I realized that I needed help. The stress, the grief was over whelming. After a 17-month battle she succumbed to the cancer when my counselor told me that we shifted from anticipatory grief to full on grief. Ive been working with the same awesome counselor for nearly 2 years now; my life is amazing. My counselor saved my life by guiding me through unchartered waters during a major life storm.

2022-05-03I brought my child to see Ashley Gregory. She requested that I come in for the next session, which was understandable, I figured she needed information from me and to share info regarding my childs care. After sitting in 20 minutes of attempted therapy where she outed everything my child had discussed with her in front of me (where was their privacy? Thanks for destroying any trust they may have in sharing with a therapist, btw), she then informed us that she wasnt able to treat my child. So I took the day off work for her to basically reject my child (with serious rejection issues) to their face and destroy their trust. Well done. Hope you dont expect confidentiality coming here.

2022-09-04I was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm in March 2021 and was experiencing a lot of anxiety and depression over it, not to mention unable to get a good nights sleep. Slipping into a valley of depression where i had a hard time finding JOY! My neurologist had suggested counseling to help me cope. I called and was seen in a reasonable timeframe. Since i started at Avenues I have realized how important my mental health really is in all this! Tom not only listens with but offers ideas to improve my way of thinking and relationships with others, and offers suggestions on how to soothe my anxiety and depression episodes and improve sleep.

2022-08-11Had made an appt and sent a message to the provider that I would like to cancel it, true it was the same day, but instead of not showing I tried to cancel it, it was also my first appt with the provider, bc the one I usually go to was unavailable, I also clearly stated that if I was going to get charged I wouldve preferred to keep the appointment, she cancelled my appointment and today when I already have another appointment with my regular provider I also have a nice $100 balance from the appointment I cancelled, is this how you stay in business?

2021-10-14I absolutely love the convenience and consistency of this counseling practice. The office is super easy to get a hold of and I never spend more than 5 minutes waiting on the phone if I need to call in. They have a very convenient app where I am able to check into my appointments and message my counselor if needed between appointments. I love the convenience of virtual visits and they help me feel more at ease while completing the visits from the comfort of my own home. Kortnie is an amazing counselor and is always there when I need her. I highly recommend this practice to anyone!

2021-10-18I have been seeing Kortnie for about a year now. She has been so helpful and I have made significant progress with my mental health. In fact, I have benefited from counseling so much that I have recommended it to others when I used to be ashamed that I needed counseling. Telehealth appointments have been great for me. So convenient and easy to schedule with the app. Kortnie is an amazing counselor and I’m so happy I found her! She’s a great fit for me and I always leave my sessions feeling happy and motivated. Highly recommend!

2021-07-24I have had many therapists in the past, some better than others. My current therapist, Dr June Phelps, at Avenues is great. She really listens to me and challenges me. I love that at the end of each session she asks what my “take-away” is from the session then asks if there was any time I felt like she wasn’t in tune with what I was saying. She is always responsive to what I need to talk about and when I need to take a step back. I would highly recommend Avenues.

2021-07-22Avenues has been a godsend! Our 9 year old was severely depressed due to being home bound for a year and even hinting at suicide. I called multiple counseling centers on our insurance ( none of which ever returned my calls, and there were multiple) and Avenues returned my call right away. The intake person was very kind and took the time to gather our information and concerns to match our daughter with the right therapist. Jocelyn has been soooooo amazing! We knew we had found the right therapist minutes into our appointment. Our daughter is doing very well and we continue to have sessions with her to keep our family happy. I would highly recommend Avenues! I was desperate and very concerned for our daughters welfare. I can’t imagine what would have happened had they not helped us.

2021-09-29I love working with Mary butler. Its been a really good fit. And I finally feel like therapy is getting me where I’d like to be. She explains things in a way I can understand. She also presents things to me in a way where I can think about them. I never feel judgment! I’m very happily. The app is very easy to navigate. Every time i’ve called the office the staff is super kind!I’m so happy I found this place !!
