Got there around 11:30. My buddy and I, ordered a gyro with extra meat and fries. I asked the waitress to make my fries extra crispy and she said she would. The food was out to us, within five minutes. The pita bread was cold and so was the gyro meat. The Taz sauce was right at the very top of the euro. It was dry and was not worth even eating. When I asked the waitress to take off the cost of the extra meat she said I was attacking her. Real simple. You are the middleman between the customer and the cookthe owner! Do your job and stop whining! This food was hideous and I will not come back. I used to work down the street, 36 years ago. I tried it back then and the food was hideous. Nothing has changed! This guy is nothing but a crook taking peoples money. I could do what he does in my kitchen but better!
I love this place! The gyros are amazing and a great price. The specials each day make them even a better deal. Get the Philly Gyro! The sweet tea is great and reminds me of good southern sweet tea from home. The atmosphere is that of a classic diner and tons of people are regulars which means they are good and take care of their customers.Ive been twice now and had great service both times. The servers are so nice and take great care of you. I will be a new regular.
Hadnt been here in several years and was driving by and remembered how much I liked it in the past so we stopped in. Did not disappoint! Their sandwiches are enormous and delicious! Havent tried the gyro yet, but will be back for gyro monday to try them out. Also, Christina was fantastic! So cheerful and upbeat even though it was super busy and on top of anything we needed! Well definitely be back.
I eat here every chance I get. Nice portions of absolutely delicious food at very reasonable prices. Their customer service is unmatched. Great people serving up the best Gyros in the tristate area. Best gyros I have ever had and I have had a lot of gyros in my time. 100%
After driving past this place multiple times I finally decided to stop by for a visit. The staff was amazing! Super friendly, helpful & quick! The food was fresh & better than I expected because to be honest you never know what youre gonna get at Gyro places. The last few I visited the meat was questioable... In short, I enjoyed it & will certainly be back.
I work at Game On Fitness just down the road and the cafes across the street were closed. Drove there with an appetite for iced coffee and a BLT, walked in smelling and seeing the lamb meat freshly shaved gave me an appetite for a gyro! Very good! Very quick! And they’re fried mushrooms are amazing too! And the waitress was so sweet! Will definitely be back!
I love supporting local businesses and the Athenian Restaurant is just that. The food is pretty good and feels a bit like a dinner. The issue that I have is the origin of the food. If you are looking for authentic or made from scratch, this may not be the place you are looking for. The pita for the meat from for gyros are both purchased from a restaurant food supplier and are not made in house. This does ensure pretty good and reliable quality but feels inauthentic.
The best gyro Ive ever had!I admit I was a bit concerned by the rundown appearance and that the restrooms are out back of the building. But many times you find a diamond in the rough and this is one.Inspite being outdated, it is clean! The service was fast and friendly (family like). My onion rings were perfectly crispy and my Mediterranean Gyro was delicious (huge), the meat was incredibly tender!Very reasonable prices!Well worth a visit!!!
My cousin and I went there for lunch. Food was ok, price seemed to be ok. Service was friendly, but, the wait for the food was way too long. Not sure why the cook line was slower than the sandwich maker line cooks. People who came in after us was served before us but the waitress was nice enough to give us baklava free on her. I thought that was a very nice gesture.
Quaint restaurant serving sandwiches, Gyros and Greek salads. The salad was perfect, the gyro was good and a good value. The fries were cooked perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. The pita bread was exceptional, I dont know if they just warmed it up or if they were made there, but whatever they did made the pita noticably yummy.I wished they had more Greek/Mediterranean dishes, spinach pie, grape leaves, falafel, hummus etc. They do seem to have daily specials that are not always off the menu, but I dont know how much demand there would be with the regulars. The place is out of the way for me, but I will keep them in mind when I am in the area.
Being from the south side of Chicago... Ive been blessed with alifetime of great greek food. I was so excited to find good reviews ofthe gyros. I ordered food from there today and was very disappointed.Yes it was a gyro but there was very little meat, the meat was coldand not sure it had been cooked let alone put on one the radiantroasters..... I will admit the fries were great and the burgers lookedgood; however dont go looking for a great gyro.
Really wanted to like this place. Witnessed cook handling raw bacon with bare hands and then handling all other food without washing hands. Raw bacon hands to directly touching pita bread, using hands to plate gyro meat, etc. Since I wasnt interested in getting a bacteria or parasitic, trichinosis infection, I walked out without ordering. The second cook on the cold line wore a glove on his knife hand but handled all customer food with his bare left hand. Cant understand the logic in that.

2022-05-09First time...gyro was fabulous! Great hot fries. Patty melt was missing thousand island dressing, but cooked well. Coleslaw was sweet and creamy! Will definitely go again!

2022-07-15Love love love this little hole in the wall restaurant with the best gyros in Cincinnati! Not only is the food exceptional but the service is hard to beat. The servers go out of their way to provide outstanding customer care that goes beyond just serving the food. They have an obvious affection for their regular customers who they hug or pat on the back and take time to exchanged greetings and ask about families. Don’t be misled to think they don’t work very hard so that the food is delivered hot because they do but they still find time to be hospitable. It’s just overall a great place to grab lunch. You won’t be sorry.

2022-06-03Inexpensive, quick and the waitress was a joy!Food was very good -- not greasy like some gyros Ive had. I was only there for about 10 minutes, but it set me for a good day before going to work. The best in diners at The Athenian!

2021-07-28Great food and great service today! Its difficult to eat out for a vegan, and though they dont have many choices for me (1), the service made up for it. They were crazy busy but our server, Jamie, was so awesome! Love going to local places and will be back.

2022-04-26Open only for early meals, closing about 2 PM daily. The food is great, and you can eat there, or take out. Not large, and has a very loyal and strong following. Probably the best giros and double decker sandwiches I have had.

2020-09-16Great lunch spot, the dining room was full and had to sit outside. Fortunately there was great weather and made for a great experience. Plenty of food for the price and served quickly. Must wear a mask before sitting down to eat. Socially distanced. Street entrance is where you enter and the side door is where you exit to avoid contact. Highly recommend the Classic Gyro!
