This was some of the best food I have had in a long time. Ive worked in high end restaurants where the chefs and cooks take pride in every dish they create and serve, and I could feel that with Alqueria. Everything I had was cooked superbly, seasoned and plated with care. I cant recommend this place enough.
First time here and Jacob Hough has a delightful restaurant. The Fried Green Tomatoes are a must. And my burger was cooked just right. Very attentive and competent staff, which added to the experience. Cant wait to try out the new place opening later this month! All you Sub Bourbon-ites are going to love it Im sure!
Came here with some friends for my birthday and had a very wonderful time. The happy hour is a fantastic deal, we got about six different things, and we all had our personal favorite dish. The veggie hummus was fantastic, the cheeses were amazing, and the drinks were delicious.I got the buttermilk fried chicken and was pleasantly surprised when I was brought half a chicken. The chicken was great, and the mashed potatoes were creamy, rich, and delicious. Our waitress was great as well. Great great great. Thats all I have to say, it was an overall great experience. Definitely will be back!
The Food is an explosion of Taste & Art. This intimate and cozy restaurant was the perfect place for our late lunch while visiting Ohio State. Ethan was our host/server. He was delighted to share information about the restaurant, farm to table concept - as well as weekly specials. The Roasted Beet Salad was a beautiful as it was delicious. My daughter enjoyed an angus burger with pimento cheese topping. It was too much for her to eat, so we were able to share. Well done! We will be back.
My first visit to Alqueria definitely will not be my last. The atmosphere, food, and service were all excellent and the location is great.I enjoyed the cider brined pork chop that was presented on top of pureed sweet potatoes and accompanied by crispy Brussels sprouts and chilled beet puree. Some sweet apples and microgreens dressed the large, bone-in chop.
The food is very delicious, and I was blown back at how well the flavor was. I had the burger, and my friend had the shrimp and grits. I tasted his meal, and it was absolutely divine! My burger?! Gtfoh, Delicious! It seemed criminally underrated. Yall have to try it out! ($5 Happy Hour plates were perfect too!)
Fine farm to table restaurant with warm and thoughtful service. I had read about this place and am in Columbus only for a weekend, so I really wanted to try it despite only having 40 minutes before having to leave for an appointment.Ordered the buttermilk chicken which was flavorful and juicy beneath the crispy skin. The roasted vegetables were fresh and slightly crunchy. On top of it, the staff really did all they could to ensure that I could get to my appointment on time (speedy ordering, delivery, and cheque). Great dining experience.
I normally dont like brussel sprouts. It reminds me of being a kid and being forced to eat vegetables. Alqueria changed all that with delicious brussel sprouts with blue cheese, almonds and some sort of magical sauce. Im sure the burger with pimento cheese didnt hurt either. This new kid on the block restaurant is friendly, very cute decor and flavors that will make you want to come back.
Warm and attentive staff. Lovely interior, but chilly inside. Sweaters and jackets needed. Hard to feel totally comfortable.Food was good, but seems like they are trying to hard. Dishes are a bit pretentious. In some dishes, the main ingredient gets overwhelmed or lost in sauces or additional flavors.Worth going back for a second try.
Jacob and Patrick really have a great thing going here. Have been here several times, and never disappointed With the food and service! Today I had the Moroccan lamb shank which was excellent, and these 2 appetizers--blue cheese stuffed dates wrapped in bacon and the brussel sprouts. Ethan, the new guy, was my waiter and did a very good job, too!
Absolutely amazing meal. While the charcuterie appetizers were just ok, the bacon wrapped figs were great. Our main courses, both of which were the crispy pork shanks, were some of the best main courses we can remember.Great service, intimate environment and a pretty good wine list.Well-earned 5 stars from me.
Had an absolutely phenomenal dinner at Alqueria. The sweet potato appetizer was insanely delicious, and my shrimp and pasta was amazing. The waitress was a delight and advised the ingredients are locally sourced and the menu changes almost weekly! Do yourself a favor and try out this little gem 🙂
Definitely a finer dining restaurant. Went for happy hour 2 dollars off appetizers I believe it was and some other things but had a wonderful spread of appetizers the meats and cheeses and Brussel sprouts and bread with marrow butter and gnocchi topped with a fried egg. All was absolutely delicious. I drank the blood orange drink. I was absolutely full by the end of the meal everything was so well presented and the service was immaculate. It made my dining experience catching up with my friend quite enjoyable! Will be returning.
Liked everything here! We went there as a group of six and ordered different food from the menu to try them all. I personally really liked the short rib. It was so awesome. The cheese and meat plater was so great as well. Defiantly worth trying it with there delicious cocktails. Had a really good time there and will be there again soon.
We just had dinner. The food is spectacular. I ordered something that actually is not on the menu and they were very kind to make it. The Brussels with chicken breast. My husband ordered shrink linguini and they were MAMMA MIA!! The pasta wasn’t heavy. Very clean, flavorful and simply perfect. Excellent and quick service. Good variety in red wine and beers. Romantic atmosphere. Tranquil. Pretty. Located by the Victorian district. 100% Recommended!!
Got to enjoy the adorable patio area, which had a great atmosphere. The best term I would use to describe the vibe is upscale eclectic. Food was tasty and well portioned. The drinks were incredibly refreshing. The chocolate bread pudding was... 😋 it didnt last long. Overall certainly worth the try.
My wife loved her shrimp & grits but my experience was disappointing. I was only interested in getting salmon but they ran out. The $36 steak I did get was not worth $36 and the accompanying fries were so over seasoned I couldnt eat them. Our cocktails were alright. The venue is great. The patio is quite nice. $100 for two people..there are nicer places in Columbus.
One of the finest dining places in Columbus. I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed my food, the decoration, and the warm and welcomming staff altogether this much. Our group tried many of the foods and drinks they have in the menu. The Short rib is heavenly good and trust me, Persians have good taste in meats. They do an amazing presentation for their chesse and meat platter. Their cocktails are great, and of course, their on tap beer selection is perfectly chosen. Their Brussel sprout is pretty good but since it comes as a side of most of the dishes I recommend trying other starters.
I love everything about Alqueria. One of the best restaurants in Columbus. Great food, great drinks, and great service! I do hate dining indoors though because they have really poor ventilation and the smell of food is so strong—I always leave feeling like my clothes stink. So I recommend grabbing a spot on the patio. :)
Its fine. I ordered takeout, so I cant speak to the service or vibe of the place, but the food itself was definitely overpriced. Ordered $70 worth of food for 2 people during restaurant week The food was ok, but I would never pay as much again. I wasnt really filled, and for the price, the portion sizes and taste should be significantly better. The only thing Id order again are the crab cakes.
Excellent food!!! The food saved it from being 3 Stars. The service was fair, ambiance is noisy, the prices were high, and the selection was minimal.FYI: The awesome looking hot chicken and waffles are only on the lunch menu.Back to the food:Shrimp and Grits were outstanding! Grits were cooked perfectly and the hint of lemon mixed in paired perfectly.Chicken with honey was also very good and moist. The carrots on the side were cooked perfectly as well. The burger with pimento cheese was also put together very well. Smokey bacon, horseradish, pickles, and red onion...did I mention the pimento cheese?!
Went here with my family when they were dropping me off at OSU, food was amazing, definitely recommend the hummus (must try), Im from the NYC area and it was as good as any restaurant Ive been to in the US. The service was also super friendly and professional. My father also thought the peach cobbler was great. My friend also recommends the fried chicken. Loved it!
The starters and main dishes were very good. If you get the pork shank, note that the sauce is a very sweet and tangy mustard sauce. The chicken is incredible. The desserts are good but there is not a real chocolate option. There are a number of cocktails to choose from and I really enjoyed their take on the margarita.
If you are looking to be blown away by the quality and care put into your meal, eat here. The crispy pork shank and mashed potatoes were cooked to absolute perfection. Fall off the bone shank served with a sauce that compliments it perfectly, the potatoes perfectly creamy and well seasoned. This was a strikingly amazing dinner and this is just the first time trying it through takeout. I will be back and if you are on the fence I suggest you check it out as well, they will not let you down I assure you.
Just wonderful! This place had an amazing atmosphere with even better food! The service was A+. Food all came out really hot and the meat was melt in your mouth tender. I will definitely be revisiting this place. The drinks are a little overpriced, but the overall experience was amazing! 👏🏾👏🏾
Went here for my birthday. Our server was very attentive and informative. The vegan dish (Farro) was phenomenal topped with a carrot ginger sauce. The burger was unbelievably flavorful despite being slightly over cooked. The meat/cheese plate is overpriced but worth it for a special occasion... I’m not sure if they size it to order because my husband and I polished off one order alone. The drinks are creative and delicious (and not overly sweet which I like). I will go back for sure.
We heard of this restaurant in passing and decided to give it a try. Not an exaggeration to say it is one of the best meals we’ve ever had—and that is the testimony of all four of the people in our party. The brussel sprouts appetizer is a must and the short ribs melt in your mouth. Add to that great service and that completed the top-notch experience. We are looking forward to going again!
What a great little restaurant! First, I was amazed by the safety protocols in place for COVID, having our temps taken as soon as we entered the door & witnessing two different employees cleaning door handles, front entry way frequently during our visit. The staff was very friendly & personable, & the food was amazing. The Fried Green Tomatoes were outstanding! We definitely will be back!
Oh my goodness wow this place is good. Real good. I have to do something crazy and call this my favorite restaurant in Columbus right now. The unassuming building has been totally revamped and now offers outstanding fine dining food and drink at really quite reasonable prices. Neat atmosphere, all six dishes I tried were great, and the staff was very attentive and friendly. It gets a little loud, thats my one criticism, but its hard not to feel boisterous once you start eating!
Great space, with upscale feel, but still casual dining. Interesting menu with tapas style influence. Our food was delicious. Try the Brussel sprouts. yum. Nice wine list that includes French Rose. Excellent service! For only being open two weeks, these folks know what they are doing.
Moms 89th birthday made awesome with a celebratory dinner here! Excellent service, amazing cocktails, enjoyable ambiance, awesome food: crispy tasty buttermilk fried chicken and vegetables devoured by the 95-pound birthday *girl* (and two guests who ordered the same); perfectly portioned and seasoned shrimp & grits; lick the plate clean burger and pork chop special! Returning to try the crispy braised pork!
Fresh seasonal offerings. Fresh take on familiar foods. Very hip farm-to-table vibe. Good wines. Pork shank was melt in your mouth, hearty portion size of meat. Starters were delicious pops of flavor. Walleye was delicate and tangy. Starter portion sizes were small compared to average American portions but expect the value to come from quality ingredients, innovative flavors, and beautiful presentation. Definitely didnt go home hungry. Entrees were generous portions. Though customers looked like they were on date-night, the staff was so friendly and kind to our 4 little kids in tow.
This place did not disappoint. We went for Lunch and the Service was great.I ordered the Seasonal Walleye that was caught in Ohio.Highly recommend stopping in here for Lunch/Dinner. The wait staff was cleaning the restaurant as COVID19 Protocol deems and they were very attentive.Definitely coming back to try their Burger in the near future.
Chicken was very average, carrots and potatoes were excellent. Burgers good fries very good. Creme brulee was to shallow, served in tartlet not custard depth ramekin. All staff were very nice, place clean... farmhouse not so much, reaching higher than the name in menu.
Love this place! My wife and I visited for the second time last night and had another fantastic experience. We had the brussel sprout appetizer - without question the best brussel sprouts we have ever tasted! I had braised short ribs and my wife had walleye - absolutely delicious. Put this together with excellent service in a relaxed atmosphere and you get a truly wonderful dining experience. I highly recommend Alqueria if you havent tried it yet!
Stopped for lunch before leaving OSU on move out day w/ my son. Definatly try the bead & special homemade butter! Worth the trip by itself. The shrimp bisque & coco gratan were good, but my son loved the duck breast grilled cheese. I had the burratta & beet salad. It was wonderful!!
Love the atmosphere of the restaurant. The food was either really delicious or underwhelming. Got the lamb shank which was very tender but lacked the Moroccan flavor. The scallops were amazing. The caesar salad lacked enough dressing. The dates were delicious! And the salted caramel creme brulee 👍🏼👍🏼
I had the chance to dine at Alqueria this evening, barely less than a week since they opened. From start to finish, everything was incredible. Their atmosphere is welcoming and cozy, service is knowledgable and friendly, and the food and drinks were delicious on every account. We started with one of their hand-crafted cocktails and the arugula salad which were beautifully prepared. We also enjoyed the brussel sprout appetizer, the octopus and potatoes, and the short rib entree which was one of the most flavorful and well-put together dishes I have ever had. I highly recommend this restuarant and all of the incredible things they are doing here, Ill definitely be back to enjoy this experience again.
A small group of us girls went to Alqueria last night and it was superior from start to finish. We waited but just a short time for a table on their adorable, cozy patio. Our waitress was prompt, friendly, enthusiastic and helpful without being over the top or annoying- she did a great job and made some great suggestions for us. We shared the bread and butter, hummus, pork belly and buratta with tomatoes. Every single one was excellent. 2 sets friends split the walleye and they cleaned their plates. The kitchen even split it for them ahead of service. I was happy with the mocktail selection and I tried the white grape spritzer- it was great and went so well with the appetizers.
Went for Saturday dinner, the restaurant was full of people. The staff is warm and welcoming, always ready to help, excellent service.Charred octopus was a bit disappointing - I expected to see it in Galician style but it was still pretty tasty. Try the Cassoulet, its really good! The desserts are poor, could be better.
Disrespectful. If I could give zero I would. The female bartender in particular was HORRIBLE; Aggressive and overbearing from the moment I said “I’m sorry” as I opened the door because I thought I was in her way. She must not like making money. She and the other clientele were rude and obnoxious and made everyone upset. Ruined the night with their poor attitude and disrespectful demeanor. No one On the staff chimed in to settle things either.Food was decent but service was not good. Disrespectful. Would never recommend.
I had a spiritual experience here only 6 days after they opened. From the soft lighting to the friendly knowledgeable service, the ambiance is not something to be missed. The food was a spiritual revelation. Before coming in, I looked at the menu and the first thing to catch my eye is bone marrow butter. Bone. Marrow. Butter. This decadent butter melted over fall off the bone braised short rib was surrounded by a pool of Cabernet bordelaise. I have never written a review of a restaurant however this was more than a magnificent experience that needs to be shouted from the roof tops.
Fantastic fresh approach. They featured a real and mushroom dish that was super. He had the Carolina pork shank and I had the lamb shank. Both were stellar, although I thought the lamb was the more technical and elegant of the two. Cocktail program looked great. Wine list was a bit of a disappointment though; very affordable but not terribly interesting.
I went there tonight in a party of four. We showed up 30 minutes or so prior to our reservation and had a round of drinks and appetizers at the bar. We were shown to our table where we ordered a bottle of wine, and enjoyed about 4 more small plates and 4 entrees. We had just inquired about dessert when we were told that, unfortunately, our table had been reserved by someone else, starting about 20 minutes ago, and we were essentially asked to leave. The food was quite good, but I cant say the same for the service. Ive never been booted from a place so rudely after spending hundreds of dollars. We were a group of parents out on a date night -- its not as if we were being rowdy or just taking up space without ordering anything. Needless to say, I wont be back.
I wasnt really invested in going, but my fiance has recently met an employee, and had her heart set on trying it. It started out strong: Both of our cocktails fit our likings perfectly, with mine being rum, frenet, blood OJ, and strawberry reduction. She was happy with her slightly Sweet drink in a champagne flute.Thats when my hopes were set at a high standard that were met with a blue cheese stuffed date, duck, and brussel sprouts that kept the deliciousness coming. The wine list was great for the price. I love Russian River Pinot, and Davis Bynum held true to that statement. It went great with our lamb that melted off the bone and never needed a knife. We sat outside on a comfortable patio, and while I never stepped inside, when I peeked inside I was impressed by the overall aesthetics. I cant wait to go back.
We had the charcuterie board and asparagus. The asparagus was delicious but there were probably only 3 or 4 stalks and I dont think i saw a single head. The charcuterie left a lot to be desired, flavors are pretty good but it was quite small and and didnt have all the aspects that make a good board. I dont think the price point matches the quantity. $60 for 2 drinks and 2 appetizers is a bit much. let me qualify that by saying I have worked in the kitchen of fine dining restaurants that served this kind of food for many years.
If you are thinking of visiting, stop thinking and just DO IT. Every aspect of this meal and visit was so well above par, I wish I lived near by so I could get to know the people who make this place great. From the winter squash soup, to the drinks and entrees, from the front of the house to the kitchen and bar, I just have to say BRAVO. WELL DONE. KEEP. IT. UP. FOLKS.
Nice atmosphere. Perfect food. Good waitress.I really enjoyed the happy hour. The 5 dollar plates, duck breast and Brussels sprouts, was good start. And entrees, pork shank and special menu (fish, sweet potato, and mushroom), was perfect! It was amazing dinner for my birthday :)The combination of unexpected foods was fun. It is not only fun, but also delicious. I visited it as a birthday celebration and it is not too much money. If you can, please visit Happy Hour. We recommend you to enjoy various menus at reasonable prices. The food I ate was a drop cabbage plate, a duck breast plate, a pork shank, and a special menu (fish), all of which were satisfactory without being missed. So next time I would like to visit again to taste other food. Good.

2022-01-28I visited here for the first time during 614 Restaurant Week. Their general menu is pretty solid, unique, with lots of wines and some specialized dishes; the three course menu for that week was highly attractive. The salmon entree was exceptional and the most memorable part for me: tender, nice blackened crust on the fish, 5-star dish. While other plates at the table were enjoyable, I dont feel anything else was 5-star worthy. The carrot cake and tres leches cake were both extremely dry, as if they were prepared long ago and left out, or frozen and thawed.. I did enjoy the flavors and sweet/spice balance of the carrot cake, but otherwise, we were all disappointed by dessert. Service was good and we were in a smaller, intimate dining area that made for some laughs between the two parties there. I wouldnt deter anybody from giving Alqueria a try; they have lots of fans!

2022-02-01Very flavorful food. Helpful kind staff. Went during restaurant week. Regular menu items a tad pricey but flavor is there. Could maybe knock off $2-$4 per item or add more to the meal.

2022-04-17The appetizers and drinks were to die for! We split the brusels and sweet potatoes. Large portions! I had a wonderfully unique drink as well. Dinner main course was delicious, but huge portions! Overall great food and atmosphere, will definitely be returning!

2022-01-27First note, excellent ambience and buzz, great service, truly! I really wanted to love this place but I felt some deja vu. Columbus is certainly growing and so too it’s food culture, and there is much to be won, but it feels rushed. I’ve encountered so many “almost” restaurants lately… Perhaps it’s redundant of me, but if you’re offering food and the food isn’t spot on, what’s going on? Are you hurrying to be a community talking point, or complacent perhaps. For example, many thoughtful dishes here with good pairings. But I’ve never had a lamb dish I didn’t love, the broccolini was a bit undercooked, the lamb cut was a bit undercooked; the fat hasn’t reached that perfect point between slimy and chewy. Lamb is an art surely and I will say the overtone of an obscure flavor kept coming through and perhaps the tomato jam but when you take flavor risks make sure the preparation is exact otherwise mixing not so cooked lamb with a bright flavor might make the experience worse. The food came very fast on all counts. That’s always a red flag, particularly when it’s a very large serving. The specials were decent, fresh. Some appetizers such as the sweet potatoes were quite simple but mostly well done, to make a simple dish speak is an art. I would say that plenty of potential here, and some good success in plates but something a bit lagging. Sometimes I wonder if I’m too picky, but I think that simple good food is hard to ignore. Just my opinion here, but I have a fair amount of experience and I really hate to be critical of our local gems. Columbus growth is something to be proud of, and I hope we can maintain quality control! I will absolutely give it another try, and you should too. Some days are just not as good as others, some dishes.

2022-01-30First time visit during Restaurant week. Opted to do one 3-course and one Ala Carte. Glad we were drawn in!It was already on our list of places to go as we had heard great things about the Brussel Sprout starter from the regular menu - and it was fabulous!Blackened Salmon with Grits and the Crispy Pork Shank [aka Osso Bucco] with Harissa Sauce [think Spicy BBQ] were both top-notch!Service was quick, attentive, and never over bearing or intrusive.Looking forward to our next meal here!

2022-05-27I am embarrassingly late posting this review. We visited this establishment the summer of 21, again disgustingly late! We had such a pleasant time. Our waiter a gentleman with dark hair and some facial hair& glasses(forgive me not recalling his name) was amazing! He was warm, welcoming, attentive, funny, clever, & very informative regarding the menu. The drink were delicious and beautiful. Mine tasted like a thin mint. The burger so hardy and perfectly prepared. We shared an appetizer which was wings with sesame seeds. They were delicious. We dined outside as the weather was gorgeous. We look forward to visiting again soon. It was definitely worth it. Oh, btw the ladies room was spotless, always a huge deal to me!

2022-01-30Nice environment, warm and inviting. The staff is very friendly and helpful with menu. The food itself I sort of felt had been overstated. With all the potential in the world, I felt that the sweet potatoes weren’t necessarily anything but that and most of the dishes lacked the sort of wow factor that I had anticipated after reading reviews. Good food for maybe a weeknight after work.

2022-01-19Honestly one of the best restaurants in Columbus. Everything is top notch. Best shirt ribs i have EVER had. Staff is friendly and helpful. It has a warm cozy atmosphere in the winter and an amazing patio in the Summer. Might be a little pricey but your paying for quality

2022-05-12Our first time here. There were 6 of us. Drinks, apps, entrees and dessert was great. We sat outside in the back and it was really nice. Great server and she had helpers who were good too. Personally I had the shrimp app and the pork shank. Delish!

2022-04-12Amazing the service was great as always. Always fun to see what the new features are, tonights was a sautéed spinach, mushrooms appetizer that was to die for!
