I just needed a regular trim, and the student did a really good job, even though my hair is hard to work with, and it was his first time working with female hair. I got exactly what I wanted. I would recommend this place if you only need a simple haircut and you are on a budget!
Rather unprofessional environment..a majority of the students started loudly talking about sexual things and the supervisor yelled at them to quiet down like a group of children. The student who cut my boyfriend’s hair didn’t seem to know what he was doing well for his hair type, and he struggled for at least a half hour before calling the supervisor over, who had to fix his mistakes. I’m surprised that the supervisor didn’t actually come over to see how he was doing before she was called over, since the man was obviously struggling and other barbers were gathering around to watch what was going on—but no one offered to help. For $5, I guess a quality haircut shouldn’t be expected but the whole experience was ridiculous. His hair ended up looking ok, but it wasn’t what he asked for and is shorter than he would’ve liked.I’ve been to a few other hair schools for cuts & they did a much better job and were better supervised.
Took a little while to get seated (about 10 mins), though it wasnt too long. The student I was seated with was nice, professional, and asked many questions to make sure I was getting what I wanted. Cut turned out well and I am overall very satisfied with my experience here. Not to mention its cheap (5 for normal cut, 8 for fade). I will definitely be coming back.
The lady who cut my hair was very professional and did a better job than I thought and spent so much time. She had super sharp scissors to cut my hair short and layered it well. She will be successful because she already takes pride in purchasing expensive tools for her trade. The cut cost $5. and I gave her a $5. tip. I will go back in Jan. before she graduates to get a second cut. Maybe a shave two which costs a $1. on certain days.
In the past I had more of a positive experience at the barber college. The person who was originally supposed to do my hair was not very good at it but someone else came and helped out. I still tipped them both. I couldnt tip much but I yeh I tipped both of them.I returned recently after speaking to someone on the phone. I had contacted them through their website email system with no response which I expected. Im sure that they saw the email and just didnt answer it. I called the next day after still no response to the email and asked about braids. I saw on the website that they were $15 and inquired about a very simple style. I was told that Id have to go all the way there to speak to someone (I guess so they could see what my hair looked like and whether it would be fine or coarse....)Next day I go into the shop and was told to speak to this lady. She was telling me how they only had one person who does braids and seemed unsure about their ability to braid or i dont know what it was but she was hesitant. She asked me what style I wanted and didnt wait for a response and finally said, You know the price went up right?Im like no.....you all could have told me that over the phone OR had it on your website. I drove almost half an hour......So I just left. Its very unprofessional. I know that its just a barber college on the westside but I didnt appreciate how much I was inconvenienced. The whole exchange was awkward and they couldnt give ANY straight answers on anything.Simply say I dont have anyone who can do black hair styles... Or make up something....like the quality wouldnt be great or something because you have coarse hair...I know that was the reason....ALSO UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE if your prices went up. I think the comment about the price change was just a lie to get me to leave. A barber college shouldnt be charging the same price as a beauty salon for a simple style that they cannot even guarantee the quality of...Ill find a new spot, its a shame but oh well.
Been going here for as long as I can remember. First time having a real issue. Madelyn pawned me off to this newbie who seemed nervous about doing my afro. Then he couldnt even do a fade in the back. Had to get another guy to do it. Later only claimed he was there for only a month and a half! Thats more than enough time to train someone to do all types of hair.
Had a bad experience with them yesterday had 2 people cuting my hair and end results were bad.was very upset.then had a girl come up to me telling me i had to leave omce i allready paid and mu hair is bad and i told her i would leave when they were done.i was highly upset and i have aeizure disorders😰😰
Just wondering why ALL the Black students are in the back of the school. I sat there and watched how DIFFERENTLY the White and Puerto Rican students were treated and im Totally disgusted by this barber college. I recommend nobody to go here here its Racism right in yo face...smh
While standing in front of counter waiting to be waited on , a Hispanic student who had been talking to a Hispanic man behind the register turned around and screamed at me, Whoa man! I replied, Is there a problem? He started yelling back at me, not making any sense. When I, who happen to be Caucasian, reported the incident to the instructor, another Hispanic student interrupted and yelled, I didnt hear anything.

2022-06-11I’m pretty happy with my choice to come here. It was very affordable ($6 for a haircut) and I enjoyed helping future barbers practice.

2022-02-25This is an awful barber college. The manager named Marilyn aggravates customers and her attitude and professionalism is unacceptable. This place is definitely a swag-killer!!! Here are photos of what they did to me. Id like to bring Channel 5 news in here.

2021-01-21Ive been going to these barber students for 43 years. Ive never received a cut that I wasnt happy with! They have ALWAYS been VERY kind, fun and professional. Come on. 6 bucks & great cuts. Foolish to pay more. Mike the owner and Joe the Manager and all the barbers are fun and accomidating! Certain weekdays offer certain specials such as facials, straight edge shaves, dye jobs, womans day discounts, and more! Check it out!!!

2020-05-27Im taking both my children there 4 haircuts and theyve done extremely well when it comes to kids under 4 years old. Didnt get frustrated or tell the mom try to keep the kids still too much they were very calm and collected when it came to dealing with a toddler. My mother has also come for haircut there as well and I got my haircut there a couple times and Ive had excellent service oh thank you so much for making my sons first haircut a great experience

2020-08-22All services performed by supervised barbering students. The place is set up for Covid-19 sanitary conditions. Your temp is taken, tracking info written down, one use plastic cape is used, for your protection. Masks are required from staff, students and customers. Great students and staff. Always a good cut.

2020-01-05They have good pricing on haircuts for $8 especially if your on a budget instead of spending $20 . After my haircut the next day I itch the back of my neck. I feel this burning sensation the back of my neck , I feel bumps. I never got a haircut where my neck had bumps , everytime i itch it burns. He obviously did something wrong. Just really watch how they are cutting. Because it’s not just a barber shop it’s a “ Barber school “ .😬

2019-06-18Great prices and they have plenty of chairs so you can be taken care of right away - unless its a Saturday. The barbers are students, so if you are needing something fancy, explain to the instructors who are standing by. Nice place and the students need the hours. Worth a try.
