We used 7 Miles Smokehouse to cater our wedding. Greg and his team were great to work with. Their food is amazing and so many of our guests commented on how much they loved it. We would definitely recommend 7Miles Smokehouse, whether you’re just looking for a new dinner spot or a caterer for an event.
Worst experience I’ve had in a long time, we waited to get a server for 15 mins. The busser had to get our drinks, which were flat and just syrup. Finally we go to order and they are out of pork and chicken. What do we order after that?? My wife and I just got up and left. Never again wouldn’t recommend.
Wow, this place was great. The food was on point! Ribs fall apart delicious, pulled pork lean and moist. The sides were almost as good as the meat. Get the sweet potatoes if you want dessert😉. And fast. Everything to our table in record time. We will be back if we are in the area again. Sorry I didnt get pictures before we tore it up but you can tell from how cleaned up it is by the time I remembered that it was good. 😋
The food was excellent, the waitresses friendly, and you definitely get what you pay for! Literally, Im waddling now! 😂 7 Mile Smokehouse was rather unassuming. Set in a remodeled 70s diner, its the type of place that you can see yourself eating at, with friends or the whole family. But dont let appearance fool you, the food was on par for any smokehouse Ive been to. Not a heavy, heady smoke, but flavorful and rich. And the portions were very generous! We drove 2.5 hours to try it out and decided that we will happily visit a few times a year.
Decided to check this place out. Ordered the Sampler. It has brisket, pulled pork and chicken. Chicken was super moist, typically dries out badly. The pulled pork was shredded and so moist you wouldnt believe it. Really mild smoke flavor to it. The brisket had a great bark with salt and pepper to it but was a little on the dry side. Mac n cheese was of the baked variety and had a ton of cheese with it. Delicious. Also had the corn and potato casserole. First time ever hearing of this dish. It had the corn and potato and a little cheese it. Quite tasty. The baked beans were made with a fair amount of brown sugar in them. They were quite hearty and were very filling. The waitresss were off the charts. There were 3 of them and each one checked on me numerous times. Super stuff. The place is in an old style diner that definitely gives you a small town vibe (original Frischs Diner). They have been there since 2012. I for sure will have to return.
An out of the way amazing smokehouse menu! The wife and I over ordered because we couldnt make up our minds. I cant express enough how good everything was, a taste bud explosion. There was a couple items that Id never even thought of and exceeded my expectations! (Corn hashbrown casserole Im thinking was one) Price was fair. We will travel out of our way to repeat if in the area😁
Great food and service. We ordered the Destroyer and it was awesome! For about $9 (plus $1.99 for fries) we received a massive sandwich, which consists of a large amount of melt in your mouth brisket, cheese (pepper jack cheese is pictured), hand made onion rings, and jalipenios (we removed). This sandwich is a meal by itself! Our server, Nikki, was friendly and personable. She is a gem! Also, the sweet tea is truly sweet and no additional sweetener is needed. Im looking forward to returning here soon!
(July 9,2022) I went here with the expectation of having a great lunch from past visits. I was so disappointed with the meal that was brought out to us. I ordered the beef brisket platter with mac and cheese and onion rings as sides. I was brought a sandwich not the platter I actually ordered. The server stated it was cheaper. I wanted what I ordered not what the server thought she should bring to me. The brisket on the sandwich was nothing but fat and looked disgusting. The mac and cheese was cold. My family was with me and ordered loaded fries with chicken. It was awful, could not even be eaten. ( I went there for their burnt ends, but that is only served on Wednesdays now.) I would have been ashamed to serve the food we got. I asked to speak to the manager and was told he wasnt there. I asked can you please call him, and was told no. The older lady comes out with another sandwich that I never ordered in the first place saying how good it looked, yet it still looked nasty. I told her I didnt want it. She said I needed to pay my bill. I was being charged for food that I never received. I dont believe my family and I will be back. This place doesnt deserve any stars for the food we reviewed or the service as well. The floor was sticky and gross.. It was a horrible experience to say the least.
I am not a big bbq person but the reviews were good so I thought I would try it. They were not wrong!! Service and food were perfect. The waitress was great at checking on me without bugging me. The menu offers some great options that has me wanting to come back on the weekend for some prime rib. Thought of the picture after I dove into it.
We used 7miles as our wedding caterer and I have zero regrets. Greg was so flexible & responsive from the beginning, and he let us make the food what we wanted it to be. I kid you not- after tasting his food it was no question & for the 7 months after up to the wedding we ranged and raved about how amazing it was. Everyone had only amazing things to say about his professionalism, timeliness, friendliness, & cooking skills. We could not have had a better caterer for our day!!
I had the Mad Dog sandwich. I see all the reviews on here raving about this place and I try to rate places based on comparably priced and themed restaurants. That said, it was OK. The pulled pork tasted like pork, but it could have benefited from finer shredding to make it actually possible to eat it in the sandwich form. In fact, I cannot even consider it pulled pork as it was literally sliced smoked/roasted pork- I dont think it was slow simmered (there would have been a lot more flavor). Pulling the pork smaller would also give a chance to impart more flavor to the pork, which tasted decent, but again is nothing to rave about. The addition of simmering in their barbecue sauce (which was good) and some onions would improve the overall result substantially. The cole slaw didnt really have much of a flavor profile and was lost against the pulled pork and the added barbecue sauce. The only thing it added was a slight textural element but this was hard to detect against the massive slices of pork that also had the consequence of ripping the bread apart while trying to eat it like a burger/sandwich.The onion rings were decent and did not have any notable deficiencies from a technical standpoint.
7 Miles Smokehouse catered our wedding. The food was absolutely delicious. All of our guests raved about the food. Most even went back for seconds! Not only was the food amazing-Greg and his staff were wonderful to work with. They were professional and fun to work with. They were also one of the most cost effective catering options out there.
We have eaten here many times and continue to come back because of the quality and great tasting food. The cherry bbq sauce on the smoked ribs is the perfect sweet/Smokey combo, and they have a spicier sauce for those who prefer that. We have ordered the Big South Sampler for carry out a few time and were very happy with the quantity of food for the value (about $25). The staff is very polite and happy to help make sure our orders are always what we want. In our household, we also have someone with a dairy intolerance, and it is easy to find items on the menu that don’t have cheese or milk (they may cook veggies with butter, for those with more serious intolerance). We consider this place a hometown stable when we don’t feel like cooking 😉
Incredible restaurant owned by an incredible person! 7 Miles Smokehouse catered our wedding and it was absolutely amazing. The food was scrumptious and Greg, the owner, was SO easy to work with. I 10/10 recommend this restaurant for all your catering needs. You will not regret it!
7 Miles has been a go-to of ours for years. Every time we eat here, the food is on-point and the service is outstanding. Even if you catch them sold out of a menu item, they still make you feel at home and you wont go away hungry. If youre on the fence, definitely check them out. The folks are down to earth and the foods delicious. Youll be glad you stopped by!
The plus is the food wasnt bad and the bathrooms were cleaner than expected. The downside was dining room cleanliness and service. Everything in the dining area had a layer of grime on it. The server stayed hidden most of the time we were there, too the point of we wanted to get her attention we had to go looking for her.We were there for breakfast, I can only assume service is better during lunch and dinner. Looking at the grime on the windowsills and unused tables I doubt it.
As always the food is great and the service is just as good. They accidentally put the cherry sauce on my ribs even though I ask for sweet and tangy but I didnt complain because the cherry sauce is pretty good. Wife and kids love the ribeye steak and I enjoy the barbecue
Love it. The Ruben was awesome. Once I complete the challenge I will upgrade to five stars. I havent tried the BBQ pork yet so I cant in good conscience give it five stars, but honestly I dont think it will disappoint. Southern style. 10-15% more pricey than I would like but well worth it IMO.
As a person born in Texas, raised in Florida, and come to my own in Georgia, I fancy I know a thing or two about bbq. This place hands down is an absolutely satisfying and fulfilling experience. The food is prepared classically and the flavor and quality is just phenomenal.
Very good smokehouse. Will definitely be back again. Highly recommend. Waitress did a great job. Service was very quick and efficient. Prices were comparable to other smokehouse weve been to. I ordered the brisket and my husband ordered the ribs. Both were very good. Their sides were the best weve ever had.
Me and my husband are from southern VA, and this place reminded us of home! My husband loved the candied burnt ends and the sweet potato casserole. I had the pulled pork and it was delicious as well. Also, service was attentive and kind. Definitely a great place to try!
This family run restaurant as such accommodating and genuinely nice, friendly staff to back up the amazing quality of their barbecue meats. Like every other BBQ joint I have ever encountered, the sauces are nothing to write home about, but the wonderful meet doesnt really need it and their sauces are just fine oh, just not outstanding. The baby back ribs were the best I have ever had and that is my go-to when I do BBQ.
Server- Jared, fantastic service with all the helpful suggestions you could ask of him! Meals ordered- Big South, The Mad Dog. Both meals were large portions of the most incredibly delicious food! For the amount of food, the prices are very fair! Sweet tea was fresh and perfectly sweet. Location is clean and cozy. (Bathroom is COLD, likely due to its location in the building.) The only thing we were missing was wet wipes for the sticky fingers. Also, we were impressed with how quick the service is and the friendliness of the staff!! Unfortunately, there’s not a second location in southern Illinois for us to stop often!Parking lot was sufficient for us to pull in bobtail. Called ahead to ask about parking, but lack of information received led to dropping trailer before going.
Was pleasantly surprised at this quaint little smoke house. I had pork on the loaded nachos and will be getting the pork when I make it back. The brisket was cooked perfectly no huge sections of fat, it was very mild in flavor which I believe most people like. ( I prefer texas brisket with loads of beefy flavor and a little spice. Overall this place is a must try if in the area.
After reading all of the great reviews, I couldnt wait to try 7 Miles Smokhouse. I ordered the brisket sandwich, and it was nearly all fat. Very little actual meat. The dog ended up getting most of it. I was so disappointed. Very nice staff though. Maybe it was just an off day for them.
The five star rating is for the food and service. Barbecue ribs, pulled pork, and the burnt ends were great. Coleslaw I dont normally eat, but it was delicious. Onion rings were delicious. Building is older has set down dining. They are practicing social distancing, and mask, hand sanitizing, and so forth. Very pleasant experience would refer to anyone.
I found this place after arriving in Chillicothe late this evening. I was tired, worn out, beaten down by a long day on the road. I checked in at my hotel, and went out for fuel and grub. Boy, am I glad I found 7 miles. I had a brisket platter, with baked beans and mac and cheese that make you lick a paper plate clean. The conversation I had while waiting for my food was great, the people were amazing, and the food was phenomenal. Id give them ten stars if I could...
Waitress was friendly & good service, great to hear country music while eating. I ordered the messy pig sandwich - it was good, my son had the sampler platter - it was much better. Unhappy to hear there were no burnt ends and it was only 11:47 am poor! I will not go out of my way to come, nor suggest it even if Im nearby. Overall I give it 2 stars.
I visited their location that was in Circleville a number of years ago, but had not been to the main restaurant before. The food was as good as I remembered. The staff was nice and service was quick. Restrooms were very clean. All and all, a perfect lunch. I would highly recommend any of their sandwiches, but their signature sandwich, the Mad Dog, is a perfect place to begin as it combines three of their smoked meats (pork, chicken, and beef brisket) in one meal. It is a sandwich best eaten with a fork it is so big!
The service is great but the food was disappointing. I got the mad dog sandwich, which was huge, but there was no coleslaw as advertised. The quesadilla was bland and underwhelming. Although the sour cream was good. The fries seemed very old and were not satisfying. Id go back for the Mac n cheese
This place came highly recommend to us.We live about 50 min away and decided to try it will traveling through. It was definitely worth it. We ordered the sampler platter, the Ruben sandwich, and one of the signiture sandwiches. The corn nugget appetizer and fried pretzels were great! Servers were friendly. Will definitely go back it’s worth the drive.
Delicious food! Clean restaurant! Great staff & owner! Great for families, date nights, breakfast, lunch, etc. The wait staff is friendly & attentive! Great experience all around every time! Try the burnt ends, ribs, chicken strips or steak on Fri/Sat. Youll be happy you did!
This little jewel come highly recommend and Im glad I went. A good BBQ is hard to come by. The staff was super friendly. The interior atmosphere took you back in time just a few years. A very clean 70s diner. Nothing fancy just very good food, clean atmosphere, fair prices and courteous service.
While driving down Bridge Street I was nearly hit by their company car due to them cutting me off in a rush to pull into the restaurant. Called in to speak with the owner, he said it was him and said he was driving recklessly because they “ran out of coleslaw”. I told him it was extremely dangerous and he said “well if that’s your prerogative then alright” and proceeded to hang up on me. Not someone I wish to support.
If youre in the area you should definitely give this place a try, especially if you love barbeque. I tried a lot of the different meats available and they were all very good, although the pulled chicken was my least favorite since it was a little dry. The atmosphere reminds me of your typical diner, nothing fancy and not a lot of seating.
It is a very clean and maintained smoke house. The portions are of a good amount. You wont be hungry after you eat your meal. I have been there 3 times now and I have gotten the brisket each time. It is good brisket with the right amount of fat and meat. The sweet BBQ sauce is very good. They have a spicey sauce but I am not a fan of spicy so I couldnt tell you about it. I got the side salad which is a spring mix of good portion and ratio of different leafs and vegetables with a cheese mix on top. I was surprised by how good the salad was in a smokehouse. The sides which I got was the sweet potato casserole it is wonderful good mixture of pecan brown sugar and potato. The corn casserole was ok it was some what bland it wasnt horrible it just didnt really stand out. My wife got the same dinner with baked beans which my wife really loved, but the mac-n cheese was not good at all. The service has always been great it seems well staffed and the kitchen is pretty fast and can handle dinner rushes. Bottom line if youre in Chillicothe stop in and you wont be disappointed.
Came into 7 Miles Smokehouse this evening March 8, 2019 at about 17:00 (5:00pm). We were greeted as soon as we walked into the door. Our server Emma was amazing, such a sweetheart! She was quick, knows her job very well, and even catered to my son (way more than I wouldve). The food was spot on, hot and delicious, and the prices are more than fair. This was definitely one of my best sit-down experiences in the almost 3 years Ive lived here. Wish I wouldve tried this a couple years ago! I am quite the critic though and would like to see a bit more spacious booths. Overall, I highly recommend 7 Miles Smokehouse.
Our waitress Emma was delightful. Stacker bowls were so good with crispy cole slaw, sweet beans, juicy pork and cheesy Mac n cheese. Our fried pretzels were the perfect amount of crispy, fluffy, salty and sweet with BBQ and cheese. Sweet tea was so sweet which I loved! Mom loved The Mad Dog!
Unfortunately had a bad experience today. Usually the service and food are good. I ordered the thick burger (8oz) and was brought a thin burger (4oz). The reason being the waitress wrote my order down wrong. She did give me some macaroni on the house to try and make up for it. There were 3 people in my party. When the food was brought out I was missing my fries and 1 person didnt even get his food until 5 minutes later. Based on what Ive said they get 3 stars overall.
My family and I were just looking for a different place to eat in Chillicothe. Found this gem on Google and decided to give it a try. Found a new place to eat. Great food and great service. Everything came out in a timely manner and everything we tried was delicious!! Nikki was our server and did a great job answering all our questions. The restaurant has a good atmosphere and will be a new regular place for us to eat.
This place used to be really good ,but its went down hill. Our loaded mashed potatoes were cold chees didnt even melt . Our chicken sandwich was nasty it was rubbery and didnt taste good . The service could have been a lot better also no refills till we were about to leave .
My first time visit..I was very pleased. A wonderful greating when I walked in the door . Gave me plenty of time to read all the menu. And my order was in a timely manner ,very hot and very good..my Philly was a melt in your mouth sandwich ...oh so very very good.Thank you. I will return . I had already advertised on Facebook to all my family and friends to try to visit here.Thank you so much.Lori
Server came as soon as we were seated, and the food (I had the triple threat - 👌) was delicious and served quickly. Our check was brought in a timely manner and everyone had a smile on their face. Atmosphere was really good, too; music playing, furniture worn but not dirty. Great little diner
Food was outstanding! Highly recommend the homemade corn nuggets...these can be hit or miss depending on where you go, but I cant remember the last time I had any this delicious! Pulled pork melts in your mouth and the house barbecue sauce is to die for. The atmosphere is quaint, cozy and everyone is friendly. No frills here...they focus on deliving excellent food at a very reasonable price. I will definitely be stopping in every time I drive thru the area and telling all my friends and family the same.
I was so disappointed after all the talk, but I will have to try it again to be sure. It doesnt even smell like a BBQ joint. To the owner. Pipe that smell inside, because you are supposed to feel like you are going to need a bypass just from the air and there is a weird kind of public restroom stink going on that doesnt help.
This throw-back to the time of drive-in diners sits on the out-skirts of the Chillicothe city limits and nearby Meade paper mill. The parking is ample and during a visit regularly patrolled by Chillicothe PD (most likely due to the wonky intersection next to the diner.) The diner has a simple design with a diner style bar and many many tables with some sitting four and some seating for two. The most remarkable aspect of the diner is the large glass windows that allows you to watch everything going on outside. The inside of the diner is clean if a bit aged. You will leave smelling like grease and onions but not as bad a if you were to eat at a White Castle. The service was excellent and our server seemed very attentive as he came back to our table no fewer than 7 times. At one point he even offered off-menu options for dressing for the fried corn nuggets. When ordering keep in mind that the portions are huge and even for a healthy eater you may be better served to order one entree and one appetizer to split between two people. Check out the pictures of the menu to see what your options are as there are several types of burgers, all that i have tried were excellent, and they most likely have what you are in the mood for that day.
VERY GOOD, however BBQ quality seems to be somewhat dependent on who is there. Last time I was there, the food was very good, but not great, the time before that it was mindblowing, hands down the best brisket Ive ever had.Prices are also VERY good for the quality of the food, even on the down days. This is in standard rotation for when my family comes to Chillicothe to eat.
Stopped at this little gem of a place on our way to Indiana. Family owned and wood and fire smoked meats (not gas)Kansas style. I had the pulled chicken with Mac and cheese and green beans and it was DELICIOUS!!! Carley was our sweet little server and was very helpful in explaining the menu and giving suggestions. If ever you are close to this little town Chillicothe, OH you must eat here. You will not be disappointed. Just a side note - read the menu...very interesting info.
I was traveling through town and was told by local that was the hot spot in in town for bbq.If this is the hot spot, then keep on trucking down the road. The pulled pork was mediocre and I certain the sauce comes out of plastic jug and fries were crinkle-cut frozen not fresh made.My co-worker ordered their grilled ham & cheese and he left half of it, said it was not worth taking home.I took half of my pulled pork sandwich for my neighbors dog.
When we first walked in, the place has this old diner feel. The hostess was friendly and the wait staff was very attentive. The first thing that I noticed, is that there was no smell of smoke in the restaurant. You would have thought that the smell of smoke off the food would have added an aroma to the restaurant. Even with the barbecue pits out back you still would have thought the parking lot would have smelled like smoke, it did not.We opened with the fried pretzel bites with cheese. They were tasty but during the frying process the pretzel salt fell off. Were that salt there, it would have been really good. However, without it they were slightly bland. My wife and I both got the pork and brisket dinner. I got coleslaw and hash brown casserole, she got mac and cheese and sweet potato casserole. The brisket was very dry. The pork was very juicy almost a little greasy, but it had very good flavor. However, everything was devoid of smoke. If youre going to have Smoke House in your name the meat should have that sharp smell and taste of the wood over which that the meat was cooked. My hash brown casserole was a bit under done. The potatoes had some crunch to them. A bit of salt and cream would have made a world of difference. The coleslaw was really good. It was very thin shaven and had plenty of creaminess with a nice light sharp flavor. I tasted my wifes mac and cheese and sweet potato casserole and both were very good. My only complaint would be that the pasta was overcooked in the mac and cheese. You could have spread it on toast.Overall, I dont think I would go back to have dinner there. If I was going down to pick up some take out pork, I would make the trip.
The bbq sauce is really good. However you have to use a lot of it to cover your chicken ( the chicken does not have flavor on its own) and they charge you a lot just to get enough sauce. The fries are just Ore-Ida Fries that they heat (ive seen the bags laying around). We still eat it everyday at work though lol
We have visited several times. Food is decent, but not great. Options are limited in Chillicothe. Every time we visit the service is really poor (especially today). We left before getting our drinks due to being ignored for 20 minutes. Needless to say, we wont be back.
Went there today after a asking somebody wheres a good place to eat as we were visiting order 1/2 rack of ribs mac and cheese and mashed potatoes ribs dry not that great at all mashed potatoes cold like they were in the refrigerator before serving ate one bite and didnt not finish mac and cheese was good i kinda got a dirty vibe from the whole place didnt use the restroom but if you do you need to get the key from the counter like its some gas station or something over would not go back or recommend this place

2022-01-23Service was awesome. Restaurant was very clean and the food was fantastic. My husband had the mad dog sandwich and it was huge. He said it was really good the meat was seasoned perfect and he said it was very tender. I had the big cheeseburger and added bacon and BBQ sauce. It was delicious. We shared onion rings and a hash brown corn casserole. It was out of this world!!

2021-08-25My only disappointment when leaving this fine dining establishment is that I was too full to enjoy eating any more of their fantastic food. DISCLAIMER ALERT: After eating here you will no longer be able to enjoy food from elsewhere. It will pale in comparison to the food served here. I thoroughly enjoyed the signature Mad Dog sandwich advertised on their sign, and recommend by the attendants/waitress. I followed it with some peach cobbler and ice cream. I left full, and completely satisfied. I did trim the fat off the brisket, because thats how I prefer it, and it came off very easily.

2021-10-22Definitely a local gem! We had passed it once before when we were in town and noticed it. So tonight when our reservation was lost elsewhere we decided to give it try and WOW! Jarrod was our server and even though it was closer to closing time he was friendly and knew the menu. Everything was great and highly recommended

2021-09-25We had an amazing dinner here. The fried pretzel bites were amazing, with plenty of cheese sauce. The brisket sandwich was cooked to perfection. The green beans had great flavor. The hash town corn casserole is to die for! The service was above and beyond!

2022-07-17First and like last visit. Stopped by in the early afternoon. After looking at the menu we both chose the pork only to find out they were already out. So my girlfriend chose the chicken and I chose the brisket along with the fried corn nugget appetizer. The appetizer was the best part of the meal. The chicken was tough almost to the point of not being edible. The brisket was quite good, moist and tender, it could have been trimmed a bit better. The sides were so so, baked beans were above average, the sweet potato casserole was good perhaps a bit too sweet, the green beans were well below average and the hash brown corn casserole was very disappointing. The staff was very friendly and the food did come quickly. All in all just nothing to make us come back..

2022-06-22Im updating my 5 star review to a 3. We were eating here quite frequently and our food was excellent. Last couple times the brisket has been full of fat. We paid $18 for a brisket platter and literally threw over half away. I understand times are hard and small businesses are cutting costs, but Id rather have less than sacrifice the quality.Fast and friendly service. The brisket is delicious.

2022-06-21The food was fantastic. Service was great as well. The mad dog sammich is a meal in alone.
